Maple Leafs will trot out same lineup versus Red Wings
In putting his stamp on the Maple Leafs, Mike Babcock was bound to step on some toes.
Just ask Roman Polak, who lost his job on defence for the first two games, and Joffrey Lupul, his alternate captain letter appearing on newcomer Matt Hunwick sweater to start the season.
But by mid season Babcock hopes such slights will be forgotten in the grand scheme of making Toronto feel better about its place in a 30 team NHL, perhaps a few places above the dismal 27th place last year.
In the meantime, there be some as Babcock promised and tough love in the early days as far as Polak is concerned. The club most physical defenceman last season, but not the swiftest, Polak found himself out of the top six in practice Monday and Tuesday, then in the press box for Wednesday opening loss against the Canadiens.

Polak, fellow healthy blueline scratch Frankie Corrado and winger Michael Grabner will have to wait at least until Saturday against Ottawa to show Babcock what they can do in a regular season match. The coach said the lineup for his official homecoming to Joe Louis Arena will be the same as Wednesday, including a pre arranged plan of Jonathan Bernier in net, before switching to James Reimer against Ottawa.
Polak was the most noteworthy of Babcock moves on Wednesday, sat in favour of ex Oiler farmhand Martin Marincin and rookie Scott Harrington.

Bozak, between Joffrey Lupul and Shawn Matthias, still played almost two minutes more than Kadri 17:17.
Hunwick, meanwhile has quickly moved up in Babcock estimation and not because the coach favours Michigan born players from his days with the Red Wings. After years of playing only parts of the schedule for various reasons, the 30 year old Hunwick now has a designated role. He mentor a young defence and help a rebuilding team, but he do so for now as Dion Phaneuf defence partner, a match that been elusive for Babcock predecessors.
With those responsibilities came the alternate captaincy, which Lupul had held when healthy, along with incumbent Bozak. With a vow to take away some of the external pressures Phaneuf has been subjected to as the of the team, Babcock is also looking for a new dressing room dynamic.
Babcock returns to Detroit for his first regular season game, believing he saw enough positive signs to let the lineup be and taking a 36 save night by Carey Price into consideration.

Matt Hunwick saw the silver lining in the opening loss to the Canadiens, setting up Mike Babcock official return to Joe Louis Arena on Friday.

men's curling championship
John Morris loves playing at the Vancouver Curling Club. title on Sunday, skipping his Vernon/Kelowna rink to a dominating 11 2 win over Jason Montgomery of replica Van Cleef & Arpels clover white gold Duncan at the VCC. champion Jim Cotter and a front end of Rick Sawatsky and Tyrell Griffith, went 6 0 for the week.
In fact, the 34 year old has never lost a game at the VCC. He went 11 0 in the 2010 Olympics at the facility at Hillcrest Park as Martin's third.
"Yeah, I have a pretty good record here," said van cleef necklace replica a grinning Morris after the win that propelled his rink to the 2014 Brier at Kamloops early next month.
"It's amazing. Some arenas you just get that feel and this is one of them. You get that good feel and things seem to go your way. I wish we could play every game of the year here."
Kamloops won't be bad either. rinks at the Brier in 2011 and 2012, was born and grew up in the Interior city before relocated to Vernon. Sawatsky and Griffith are from Kelowna.
"I think back to the last Brier (in Kamloops) in '96 when Barry McPhie (of Kamloops) represented the province.
"It's always fun playing in front of a home crowd and we're going to give them something to cheer for," said Morris. "I think we've got a dynamite chance. It's going to be a special Brier."
Morris breezed through the first three games at the provincials winning games 9 3, 8 1 and 7 2 before needing to score two in the 10th to beat Neil Dangerfield of Victoria in the A event final and four in the 10th against Brent Pierce of Royal City in the Page Playoff No. 1 vs. No. 2 game.
"Oh yeah, those tight ones like that are needed," said Morris. "When you have tight games, you get tougher shots and when you get up quite a bit you van cleef clover necklace replica play a lot of peels and don't get a feel for the rocks and the finesse of the ice.
"It was important to have a few games that were real tight."
Sunday's game wasn't even close.
After Jody Epp, who throws fourth stones for Montgomery, was a little inside on a freeze attempt with his last rock in the first, Cotter drew to the four foot with his last to count three.
Epp then failed to hit and stick with his final rock of the second and scored just one. When Cotter made a nice soft takeout in the third with his final rock to score two, it was all but over.
Morris stole one in the fourth and scored four in the seventh to salt it away.
The Morris Cotter pairing has proved to be hugely successful.
"I played against Jim and his team for a long time . . . and I saw the potential these guys have and the dynamic that could be there. Even when we played against each other, we'd go up in the lounge after and have a cold one and talk sports.
"Sometimes you just mesh with certain people . . . and Jim and I were like that and I knew we'd be a good back end combo if we could harness that good positive energy and use that to our advantage."

Ninth Holly Trail brings in a welcome
Good cause: Chairperson KK Marffy, The Holly Hospice Trail Charitable Trust Committee and CEO Cranford Hospice Janice Byford Jones celebrating the money raised by the Trust. Photo/Duncan Brown.
The 2016 replica van cleef & arpels Clover necklace Hospice Holly Trail reached its destination last night with an evening of thank yous and a remarkable donation to the Cranford Hospice.
To the obvious delight of Cranford Hospice representatives, who were not aware of how much the ninth annual Hospice Holly Trail had raised until it was announced at the special cocktail evening at Craggy Range, event co ordinator KK Marffy declared that $275,000 was about to go their way.
She had hoped the event would equal last year's record $250,000 result and was thrilled to exceed it.
As were Janice Byford Jones and Nathalie van van cleef jewelry replica Dort from Cranford.
The Holly Trail first took place in 2000 and the result was a $40,000 donation to Cranford.
As Mrs Marffy said "it has grown a lot since then".
The latest fundraising result has pushed the total the trail events have raised for the hospice through the years to more than $1.5 million.
About 100 people enjoyed the early summer warmth at last night's cheque presentation which was also an opportunity to say a collective "thankyou" to everyone involved in what Mrs Marffy said had become a "massive thing".
"The home owners and all the sponsors the florists who were the heads of design teams the conveners who looked after the properties."
Representatives from Iona College, which staged a Carols for Cranford event in association with the Holly Trail, were also in attendance."Thank you all for what you did to make this such a huge event," Mrs Marffy said.
The trail's reputation had grown so strongly through the years the 2500 tickets for the latest one all quickly sold out, and Mrs Marffy said word had certainly spread.
"We had a big Australian contingent come here for it."
Ten diverse homes and properties across the region were opened up for the trail for people to wander and enjoy.
Each was decorated with flowers in a Christmas theme.
Mrs Marffy paid tribute to the homeowners saying "quite simply our trail would not exist without the wonderful generosity of our homeowners there are months of preparation that go into homes and gardens and it is so rewarding to watch the vision, planning and hard work".
She also praised the nearly 350 volunteers who gave hundreds of hours of their time to make it all come together.
"It was such a great time and we were unbelievably lucky with the weather it brought everybody out."
One of the major sponsors, Mike Glazebrook from BioRich, welcomed the gathering before calling Mrs Marffy forward to make the presentation, which ended in a lot of smiles and great applause.

"The fans at Man United demand entertaining football and I'm sure Mourinho will come and try and give it," said former midfielder Scholes.
Van Gaal led United to fifth place in the Premier League but was criticised for his lack of attacking football, with the team only scoring 49 league goals this season.
Scholes, who won 11 league titles and two Champions Leagues during a 20 year career at Old Trafford, was among Van Gaal's critics, claiming United were disjointed and played boring football under the 64 year old.
He also questioned whether the former Netherlands, Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss really understood the "ethos of the van cleef & arpels necklace replica club".
"I think Mourinho will have watched that closely and will have seen what happened," Scholes, 41, told BBC Surrey. "He's a top manager, he's proven that before and hopefully he can do that again."
Scholes and Giggs were in the United team that won the Premier League title in 2013Scholes also said he was optimistic former team mate Ryan Giggs, who was assistant manager under Van Gaal, will stay at Old Trafford.
"I think it's important that there's some form of continuity," he said. "Hopefully he'll still be at the club, hopefully still working with the first team.
"He knows the club inside out, he's been there for nearly 30 years now."
The impending appointment of former Chelsea boss Mourinho has drawn a mixed reaction from former United players.
Paul Scholes and Peter Schmeichel on Jose Mourinho
Ex goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel says the Portuguese "could save" the club, while Hull City boss Steve Bruce believes the opportunity to bring in the three time Premier League winner was "just too good to miss".
But Old Trafford legend Eric Cantona told the Guardian his former club should have gone for Pep Guardiola, who will join Manchester City instead.
Cantona, who celebrated his 50th birthday this week, said he "loved" Mourinho but claimed the style of football he chooses to play is "not Manchester United".

New Sustainable Oasis Flows at Brooklyn Botanic Garden
There's now more water alongside the plants and flowers at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, but it is actually part of an effort to conserve copy van cleef clover earrings water. NY1's Roger Clark filed the following report.
One last bucket of water is dumped into the newest feature at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. One of its biggest supporters, Shelby White, was there to do the honors.
"The Brooklyn Botanic Garden is one of the jewels of Brooklyn. I've known it since I was a child. And I'm really thrilled at we are involved in this project," White said.
Called The Shelby White and Leon Levy Water Garden, it is a new attraction in the south portion of the garden, part of a $17.2 million project that has included a new Children's Discovery Garden and entrance at Flatbush Avenue. You have to come to the discovery garden now. And we are hoping this water garden will function the same way," said Scott Medbury, president of the Brooklyn Botanic Garden.
But it's more than just a pretty pond and brook with native plants and wildlife. It massively cuts down the amount of fresh water the garden uses by re circulating it.
"Previously, we were here throwing 21 million gallons of drinkable water into the storm system annually. And that's 96 percent erased through this project," said Michael Van Valkenburgh of Michael Van Valkenburgh and Associates.
The design even incorporates computers and weather forecasting to reduce runoff from the garden that winds up in the sewer system during heavy rainfalls, part of the effort to cut down on sewage overflows into the city's waterways.
"Through satellite technology and van cleef and arpels earrings replica predictive modeling, understand when a rain event might occur. And we are able to drop the water level that you see here and then use that space that we have created to handle the stormwater," said van cleef & arpels necklace replica Matt Bird, senior associate with Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates.
The folks at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden are hoping that parks and gardens around the country will take a look at what they are doing here and perhaps implement similar systems so they can help with the conservation effort.

Mysterious man points GUN at Google Street View vehicle from address where toddler was found DEAD in June
This is the chilling image of a bare chested man pointing a gun at a Google Street View car on the porch of a house where a 17 month old toddler was found dead under mysterious circumstances.
The alarming photographs shows five people sitting outside of the Brinker St address in Detroit, Michigan, watching the camera car pass as a young man in blue shorts raises what looks like shotgun and takes aim at the vehicle.
The residence is the same address where little Ziya Turner was found dead under a pile of clothes in a closet on June 29, when her family members were supposed to be babysitting her.

'We were hoping just hoping someone had took her,' Mrs Elam said toWXYZ.
'We never thought she was in the house right up under our nose it didn't cross our minds.'
The family held a candlelight vigil for the little girl and Ziya's uncle was initially arrested and then released.
Police have not made public the autopsy results, but say that the family is co operating and they do not suspect foul play. The investigation is still ongoing.
The uncle told police he temporarily left the children alone to go to his bedroom before returning to find Ziya missing.
He reported the other children saying they hadn't seen where she could have gone.
'The last van cleef alhambra bracelet replica I saw her, she was sitting on the dining room floor eating cereal. That's when everything went to a panic,' Mrs Elam recalled.
The girl's father, 25 year old Emmanuel Turner, said he rushed straight to the house to help their search efforts.
Worried the girl had left the property, the family made and distributed fliers throughout their neighbourhood after calling police and issuing an Amber Alert.
Receiving the tragic news early Saturday morning, for Mrs Elam, the hardest part she says is now knowing that the toddler was in her house the entire time.
'My grandkids. they're blaming themselves, like we didn't search the area,' she told WXYZ. 'But you can't put that on you. It was a bad accident. It was a very bad accident that we just have to deal with.'
The Google Street View image has attracted a lot of attention because of the safety implications.
While many people use the Street View tool, few think of the dangers that lurk when driving down unfamiliar roads that may not be safe and where Google may not be welcome.
