Esperanzas en el sector privadoCules son, junto a la independencia econmica, las otras diferencias que conlleva aventurarse en el sector privado?
Segn Yamina, "las oportunidades crecen, el desarrollo y la creatividad se fomentan, y el trabajo se vuelve un estmulo. El triunfo depende de ti, y eso en Cuba haba desaparecido".
El sector privado ya abarca el 4 por ciento de la poblacin, y su constante crecimiento hace que los temores del principio se sustituyan por esperanzas.
Ya una vez, a mitad de los 90, durante la dura crisis del Perodo Especial, el gobierno autoriz pequeos negocios privados como vlvulas de escape. Y en cuanto se recuper medianamente, elimin la inmensa mayora de los emprendimientos que haba fomentado.
La Guarida, por ejemplo, el mtico restaurante de Centro Habana, se mantuvo con doce sillas de 1996 a 2009, y no fue hasta hace un par de aos que pudo ampliarse a 50 capacidades. No parece, sin embargo, que el mismo letrgico ciclo de los 90 vuelva a repetirse.
"En un principio temamos que hubiera un retroceso y que cerraran las licencias", recuerda Yamina, "pero el gobierno ha brindado muchos espacios y facilidades al sector privado. La proyeccin es que vayamos aumentando, lo cual ha dado paso a distintos negocios y ha estimulado a muchos que no decidan iniciarse".
No obstante, como ella misma reconoce, las condiciones no son idlicas.
No tienen acceso a un mercado mayorista, no hay uso masivo de internet, o no pueden importar mercanca como empresa porque no son reconocidos como tal, lo cual afecta los precios, la publicidad, la oferta.
"Pero con el negocio", dice, "puedes combinar la satisfaccin material con la satisfaccin espiritual en el lugar donde naciste, creciste, y del cual formas parte, indisolublemente".

On game day I go the stadium five hours before kickoff to get set up because some guys like to get there early to get ready. Some guys have pretty elaborate tape jobs and certain players like to have their taping done by certain people: Peter Dyakowski won't let anyone else tape him but me, for whatever reason. I think he knows I have to be there every single day so it's always the same.
DE: How did you get into this?
CV: I was active as a kid, played four different sports in high school and came to Mac for kinesiology and to play varsity volleyball. I had shoulder surgery my first year and got involved as sports medicine intern during my rehab. I worked with the various sports teams at Mac while I was doing my degree and then got a job in the rehab clinic after graduation. I thought there was more to learn so took an athletic therapy degree at Sheridan and got a scholarship that involved working with the Ticats. That opportunity led to where I am now.
DE: You were young when you got the head job.
CV: I was 26 and it was a little overwhelming. But Chris Puskas, who was leaving the job to take over at Mac and the team doctor David Levy who is like family to me were so supportive. My first year, I was probably getting three or four hours of sleep a night just trying to keep up with the things I needed to know. But I felt if I turned it down, especially as a young age and as a woman in pro sports, the opportunity may never present Hermes belt replica france itself again.
