You know how Paris is known for its fashion, and Japan for its electronics? Malaysia is simply known for shopping, and shopping everything and anything you need! It’s your one-stop-shop for all of those favourite things you want to buy and has something for every kind of shopaholic.

Book lovers visit… the bookshop BookXcess in Amcorp Mall in Selangor. This cosy little bookstore offers books, new and old, imported magazines, audio CDs and more at extremely discounted rates. For example, picking up a RM50+ priced book for around RM17!

Most of the locations are easily accessible by buses that are one of the primary modes of transport here. Check redbus for tickets, keep that cash handy and get ready to pile on those shopping bags in your arms!

Fashion freaks visit… Berjaya Times Square Shopping Mall in KL. While you aren’t going to run out of options when it comes to picking up the latest in fashion and accessories here, Berjaya is the most popular among all, offering the best of the brands at steal away costs. Cocktail dresses for RM25, fake leather boots for RM60… you get the picture. . The Berjaya Times Square Shopping Mall is quite big. You will get to witness variety of products here. Pricing is also quite reasonable. With spacious alleyways, the crowds flow smoothly. There are enough escalators and lifts to make it even more convenient for smooth flow of crowds. Food court and fun park makes this place even more interesting especially if you are with your family and children. It is indeed a great tourist place for both locals as well as tourists visiting Singapore.

Electronic geeks visit… Low Yat Plaza in Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur. Everything electronics can be found here at low costs. This place is known as the premier IT mall in the country due to the 500 electronic goods stores it houses. This is one of the best places to shop for electronics. You will come across a lot of variety to choose from. Best part is you can bargain… Check for the prices of your desired product In few shops as the price will vary and you can then purchase by bargaining at an attractive price. Be sure to take a demo of the product you have purchased. There is no hassle. They give you a demo very happily. People are good and helpful. This, I found one of the best source to purchase IT products. A single stop for hardware requirement.

Bugis Street… Bugis Street has more than 600 shops, and most of them offer fashion clothing, shoes and accessories. Fashionistas will certainly be impressed by all the latest and trendiest things that are updated almost every day.

Lucky Plaza… While most of the shopping centres on Orchard road sell high-end products to wealthy customers, Lucky Plaza is the only mall catering to budget shoppers. Casual clothing, simple accessories, sunglasses, low-end watches, sweet and chocolate, souvenirs, used books and medicated oil products are always on sale.

Little India is one of the most famous districts in Singapore which is popular amongst tourists for its low priced good quality products. It shows Singapore’s vibrant shopping culture on the entire street. Little India once was a racecourse full of cattle herders. There are several outlets here selling flower garlands as well as dirt-cheap electronics at the same place. Apart from this, the street is full of modern eateries and boutique hotels. One thing worth noticing is that the religious establishments of 3 different religions, Hindu, Muslim and Christianity. Do not forget to stop and eat at one of the famous eateries in Little India.

A visit to this place was never on my wish list but I decided to visit this place after I came across it online while booking my bus tickets from redbus.sg, which showed Little India as a bus boarding point. Make sure that you visit the Tekka Centre, which is quite famous in Little India and across the rest of Singapore for its large selection of hawker stalls. In addition, a bright yellow and orange warehouse sells products at excellent prices especially if you want to buy fresh produce in bulk. If you are looking to buy quality products, fabric and materials Tekka Centre is definitely one of the places that you should visit.

On the second floor of this establishment, you will find a sea of Chinese, Indian, Malaysian and Singaporean hawker stalls that serve cheap and tasty dishes in rather rough and ready surroundings. For those who have a sweet tooth it is worth hunting down this eatery called Chi Kak, which serves pale rice with a filling paste of sugared beans. Try this dish once and you will definitely order it one more time. I did!! There are also plenty of drinks that you can have ranging from squeezed limesoda to fresh juices. The centre may not have all the frills and decorations like other hawker centres but it offers a great choice of unusual dishes, which is one of the most fantastic ways to experience the whole of Little India on a single plate.

There were about 3 Operators plying on the route between Little India and Kamper. The One Travel and Tours, Starmart Express and Transstar were some of the popular ones. The One Travel and Tours had about 4 buses plying throughout the day with the first one departing at 11:00 am in the morning. There were about 3 more buses between 11:00 am to 10:30 pm from this Operator. Starmart Express has about 4 buses plying throughout the day with fares starting from SGD40. I prefer travelling through the One Travel and Tours as my previous experience with this Operator was great and the staff was quite interactive. This Operator operates only the Executive class of buses and if you wish to travel in a luxury bus, you will have to book either the Starmart Express or Transstar. The fares for both these Operators start from SGD60.

Malacca is one city in Malaysia, which has an abundance of breath taking sites with rich heritage. It is quite easy to get around the city on foot to explore the magnificent places that the city has to offer. The city has largely contributed to the Peranakkan culture of Malaysia. It possesses a great blend of customs, traditions, food and lifestyle. It has a great mix of old and new historical buildings standing right beside each other. There are quite a few ultra-modern shopping centres here where you can shop a huge range of products at affordable prices.

It is considered one of the most popular tourist destinations – thanks to the famous Jonker Street. It is set up at night and is buzzing with tourists from all over the world. The city is not just known for its shopping complexes and nightlife but also its delicious food. Almost every street has stalls selling healthy and tasty food at affordable prices. The locals claim that the best local dishes in Malaysia have originated from Malacca. Based on my personal experience I would recommend you to spare atleast five to six days to tour this city in order to absorb as much as possible. After my tour in Malacca ended, it was time for me to head to my next destination, which was Kuala Lumpur – the beautiful capital city of Malaysia. I could not find any airplane tickets and hence I decided to book a bus rather. After my experience in travelling by Bus from Malacca to Kuala Lumpur, I had decided that never again am I travelling by air to any other city in Malaysia. I booked my bus tickets from this website redbus.myand selected my choice of seats right in the comfort of my hotel room.

There were only two Operators plying between Malacca and Kuala Lumpur. Mayang Sari Express and Transnasional had about 7 to 8 Buses plying throughout the day. I booked my bus tickets with Mayang Sari Express based on the recommendation of a friend. The Operator had about 6 buses plying throughout the entire day. The first one at 8:00 am in the morning and the last one leaving Malacca at 1:00 pm in the afternoon. I booked my Bus in the 1:00 pm slot as this is the time when traffic is less. The cost of the tickets with this Operator start from SGD12. There are about 28 to 35 seats in a single bus making seating quite comfortable in the Bus. Transnasional being the only Luxury Bus Operator had two buses plying throughout the day. The first one at 5:00 am in the morning and the other one within 30 minutes at 5:30 am. The cost of the tickets started from SGD20 and went up all the way to SGD25. There were about 20 seats in each Bus with ample of legroom and elbow space. The total duration of the journey is about 2 hours.

Rue de Passy in Paris, Oxford Street in London, and 5th Avenue in New York— these are iconic shopping streets in the fashion capitals of the world. Add another name to this chic list—Orchard Road, Singapore.  The entertainment hub of the Lion City, Orchard Road lets you experience mall and street shopping like never before. We give you some reasons that will definitely make you write ‘shopping in Orchard Road’ first on your holiday itinerary. Reaching Orchard Road, especially from Kuala Lumpur, is no hassle at all. Book an express bus ticket online from redbus.sg, save up on money and time, and splurge it all here!

There is something for everyone here with regards to fashion. No matter your fashion sensibilities, you will find branded apparel suited for your style.

1. Wheelock Palace here is one such place that will let you express your style statement. You can find a lot of cheap stuff here.

2. ION Orchard Is for those luxury shopping experiences. Walk into this majestic place that is home to more than 300 top brands from across the world and is also Singapore’s first multi-sensory experiential mall. If you want to check on a variety of food, head to the basement.  You will find variety of snacks and food to choose from.  If shopping is what you are looking at, then level 1 to the top level is where you must move on.  It is a great place to hang out with family and friends.

3. Far East Plaza- Street shopping is done best here. All your trendy everyday wear options are solved here with the range of t-shirts, skirts, day dresses and accessories on offer. Unlike other shopping mall, you will feel more comfortable and relaxed in this place. You will come across a lot of young entrepreneurs as owners of these retail shops. You will come across a lot of unique and interesting products that may fulfil you list of collections. The selection is quite modern and stylish and why not??  With young entrepreneurs along!! Stylist clothes, fancy gadgets, customised suits and clothes, you name it and you can find it here.   If you are done with shopping, some great food options is also something you can look at in this place.

Similar to London’s Oxford Street or Hong Kong’s Tshimshatsui, this bustling boulevard got its name after the nutmeg and pepper plantations that once lined it in the 1800s. Flanked on both sides by local and international department stores, tiny boutiques, offices, spas, beauty salons, hotels, entertainment spots, restaurants, and cafes, one could spend a whole day trawling the stretch starting from Tanglin Mall on Tanglin Road down to Plaza Singapura at the lower end of Orchard Road.

Shopping malls and centres are stocked with practically everything under the sun from apparel, consumer electronic items, local/international fashion labels and housewares. There is always some kind of fair or activity taking place in the malls and centres so there is never a dull moment. And if you are weary, take a breather at one of the many alfresco spots along the road and watch the world go by.

Clarke Quay is famous for its stunning restaurants by the riverside as well as its exciting collection of bars and clubs. The area has a lot to offer for tourists visiting to Singapore. I ended up with Clarke Quay while booking my Bus tickets to Malaysia from redbus.sg .  Apart from the attractions of Clarke Quay, it also serves as a major Bus boarding point for Buses leaving for Malaysia.

The attractions of Clarke Quay are just within walking distance of each other, which include a host of family friendly activities, and cultural visits that are just perfect for the daytime tours. The Singapore River lies in the heart of Clarke Quay and serves as a central artery for this areas nightlife scene. However, the river has a much broader prospect to offer than just a beautiful spot for food and drinks.

If you want to quickly get along the entire length of the river, you can mkae use of the boat tours that will drop you off at the place of your choice. The river has also been categorised as a historic place alongside important Singaporean landmarks like the Merlion and the Esplanade that you come across along your way to the Singapore Strait.

The G-Max Rivers Bungy, which is a thrilling activity, is a landmark itself within another landmark. This giant Bungy structure is beautifully illuminated at night with colourful LED lights.  Thrill seekers can board the Bungy after 2:00 pm in the afternoon. There was only a short queue at the boarding point. You just have to strap in yourself in the Bungy and then are launched 60 feet into the air at a speed of more than 200 kms per hour. This was a very thrilling experience for me.  If you think this is dangerous you do not have to worry as the G-Max Rivers Bungy boasts of a 100 percent safety record with over more than ten lakh riders making it back to earth safely in one piece.

There are about 4 Operators plying on the route between Clarke Quay and First World Hotel. However, Transstar, KKKL Tours and Travels and the One Travel and Tours were the 3 most popular Operators. KKKL Tours and Travels had about 3 buses plying throughout the day starting from 6:00 am in the morning till 10:00 am in the morning. The duration of the journey is about 4 hours but if you leave at this time of the day it might take longer due to traffic snarls. KKKL Tours and Travels operates only Executive Coaches with about 20 seats in each Bus and tickets costing somewhere around SGD40. Transstar is another Operator which operates only uxury class of buses with tickets costing SGD50 and above. It operates only 2 buses one at 5:45 am and the other at 7:00 am. I chose to travel by the 5:45 am bus as this was the earliest bus leaving Singapore. The One Travel and Tours is the most affordable operator with tickets costing only SGD30. However, the Operator operates only one bus in the entire day which is at 9:00 am in the morning.

On my trip to Malaysia, I visited this beautiful city of Alor Setar, which is located in the Northern part of Peninsular Malaysia. The city is popularly known as the royal and administrative capital of the state of Kedah and for some site seeing. The city is not only unique but packs many attractions in a small place. The place although is not visited quite much by tourists and is less known like Kota Bahru and Kuala Terengganu it still has a large number of attractions compared to the two cities. The best part of this city is that since it shares its border with Thailand you can get a glimpse of the element of Thai culture in this beautiful city of Alor Setar.

On my itinerary, the first place that I was supposed to visit was the Architecture that was developed by the Moorish which is spread out all across the town and depicts the different cultures that exist within the city.  One of the most significant places, which is necessary visit, is the signature landmark of Menara. Standing tall at 165 metres the structure is considered one of the tallest in Malaysia and can be seen from almost all parts of the city.   You do not have to worry, as there is an elevator all the way up to the top.

Other places that you can visit here are Masjid Zahir which is Malaysia’s most popular mosque, Balai Nobat which is a vibrant yellow tower housing musical instruments of the ancient era. While on your way to this royal museum featuring different instruments you will come across a few museums as well as art galleries. After I had visited some of the most important places here it was time to conclude my journey in the city of Alor Setar.

Owing to its proximity to Kuala Lumpur, the next challenge was how to head to this beautiful capital. After figuring out my options and on the recommendation of a colleague, I decided to take a bus to this city. Kuala Lumpur being one of the most visited places in Malaysia, all road routes leading to the city were well developed and maintained.   I booked my bus tickets from redbus.my and was quite happy with the experience. I selected my choice of seat, which was obviously a window seat while sitting in the comfort of my hotel room. I made the payments online and there was literally no need to visit any ticketing booth of the Operator. It was all on my phone.

There were about 3 popular Operators plying on the route between these two cities which were Sri Maju Express, Etika Express and Transnasional. Sri Maju Express had about 5 buses plying throughout the day starting from 7:00 am in the morning till 5:30 in the evening.  The duration of the journey was about 6 hours but if you head out early in the morning, you may cover the distance in about 5 hours. Transnasional and Etika Express both had buses at the same time leaving at 8:30 am in the morning. The cost of the tickets started from SGD42 and went up all the way to SGD55 depending upon the class of Coach you book.

Surabaya
