men's curling championship

John Morris loves playing at the Vancouver Curling Club. title on Sunday, skipping his Vernon/Kelowna rink to a dominating 11 2 win over Jason Montgomery of replica Van Cleef & Arpels clover white gold Duncan at the VCC. champion Jim Cotter and a front end of Rick Sawatsky and Tyrell Griffith, went 6 0 for the week.

In fact, the 34 year old has never lost a game at the VCC. He went 11 0 in the 2010 Olympics at the facility at Hillcrest Park as Martin's third.

"Yeah, I have a pretty good record here," said van cleef necklace replica a grinning Morris after the win that propelled his rink to the 2014 Brier at Kamloops early next month.

"It's amazing. Some arenas you just get that feel and this is one of them. You get that good feel and things seem to go your way. I wish we could play every game of the year here."

Kamloops won't be bad either. rinks at the Brier in 2011 and 2012, was born and grew up in the Interior city before relocated to Vernon. Sawatsky and Griffith are from Kelowna.

"I think back to the last Brier (in Kamloops) in '96 when Barry McPhie (of Kamloops) represented the province.

"It's always fun playing in front of a home crowd and we're going to give them something to cheer for," said Morris. "I think we've got a dynamite chance. It's going to be a special Brier."

Morris breezed through the first three games at the provincials winning games 9 3, 8 1 and 7 2 before needing to score two in the 10th to beat Neil Dangerfield of Victoria in the A event final and four in the 10th against Brent Pierce of Royal City in the Page Playoff No. 1 vs. No. 2 game.

"Oh yeah, those tight ones like that are needed," said Morris. "When you have tight games, you get tougher shots and when you get up quite a bit you van cleef clover necklace replica play a lot of peels and don't get a feel for the rocks and the finesse of the ice.

"It was important to have a few games that were real tight."

Sunday's game wasn't even close.

After Jody Epp, who throws fourth stones for Montgomery, was a little inside on a freeze attempt with his last rock in the first, Cotter drew to the four foot with his last to count three.

Epp then failed to hit and stick with his final rock of the second and scored just one. When Cotter made a nice soft takeout in the third with his final rock to score two, it was all but over.

Morris stole one in the fourth and scored four in the seventh to salt it away.

The Morris Cotter pairing has proved to be hugely successful.

"I played against Jim and his team for a long time . . . and I saw the potential these guys have and the dynamic that could be there. Even when we played against each other, we'd go up in the lounge after and have a cold one and talk sports.

"Sometimes you just mesh with certain people . . . and Jim and I were like that and I knew we'd be a good back end combo if we could harness that good positive energy and use that to our advantage."

Ninth Holly Trail brings in a welcome

Good cause: Chairperson KK Marffy, The Holly Hospice Trail Charitable Trust Committee and CEO Cranford Hospice Janice Byford Jones celebrating the money raised by the Trust. Photo/Duncan Brown.

The 2016 replica van cleef & arpels Clover necklace Hospice Holly Trail reached its destination last night with an evening of thank yous and a remarkable donation to the Cranford Hospice.

To the obvious delight of Cranford Hospice representatives, who were not aware of how much the ninth annual Hospice Holly Trail had raised until it was announced at the special cocktail evening at Craggy Range, event co ordinator KK Marffy declared that $275,000 was about to go their way.

She had hoped the event would equal last year's record $250,000 result and was thrilled to exceed it.

As were Janice Byford Jones and Nathalie van van cleef jewelry replica Dort from Cranford.

The Holly Trail first took place in 2000 and the result was a $40,000 donation to Cranford.

As Mrs Marffy said "it has grown a lot since then".

The latest fundraising result has pushed the total the trail events have raised for the hospice through the years to more than $1.5 million.

About 100 people enjoyed the early summer warmth at last night's cheque presentation which was also an opportunity to say a collective "thankyou" to everyone involved in what Mrs Marffy said had become a "massive thing".

"The home owners and all the sponsors the florists who were the heads of design teams the conveners who looked after the properties."

Representatives from Iona College, which staged a Carols for Cranford event in association with the Holly Trail, were also in attendance."Thank you all for what you did to make this such a huge event," Mrs Marffy said.

The trail's reputation had grown so strongly through the years the 2500 tickets for the latest one all quickly sold out, and Mrs Marffy said word had certainly spread.

"We had a big Australian contingent come here for it."

Ten diverse homes and properties across the region were opened up for the trail for people to wander and enjoy.

Each was decorated with flowers in a Christmas theme.

Mrs Marffy paid tribute to the homeowners saying "quite simply our trail would not exist without the wonderful generosity of our homeowners there are months of preparation that go into homes and gardens and it is so rewarding to watch the vision, planning and hard work".

She also praised the nearly 350 volunteers who gave hundreds of hours of their time to make it all come together.

"It was such a great time and we were unbelievably lucky with the weather it brought everybody out."

One of the major sponsors, Mike Glazebrook from BioRich, welcomed the gathering before calling Mrs Marffy forward to make the presentation, which ended in a lot of smiles and great applause.

Cranford Hospice Magic Alhambra replica Van Cleef & Arpels necklace gold patron John Buck said he was simply "in awe" of the devotion by so many in the region to support them.

"It is all voluntary they raise so much for us and they don't take a cent I don't reckon you would see it anywhere else in the world and that is why I am so proud to live here," Mr Buck said.

A perfect world it's elementary

Montgomery County, Md., on the District of Columbia northern border, is a dormitory for the nation government, where federal workers sleep is disturbed only by dreams of new ways to improve us. The county population of almost 1 million includes many political staffers and consultants, knock off gold cartier ring lawyers, lobbyists and others whose common profession is to cause political power to flow to Washington. Montgomery County also is this could be just a coincidence a laboratory of liberalism.

Cross Western Avenue on Wisconsin Avenue, leaving Washington and entering Montgomery County, and you immediately pass Ralph Lauren, Cartier, Bulgari, Christian Dior, Gucci, Jimmy Choo, Tiffany and Saks Fifth Avenue. For those who toil in the ambit of the federal government, virtue may be its own reward, but Louis Vuitton luggage is not to be sneezed at.

Washington and its environs are doing well by doing good for or at any rate to the rest of America. area. Joel Kotkin, a demographer, notes that median household income in the nine counties is more than $100,000, twice the national average. Washington, Kotkin notes, is not a center of real commerce, people make things or risk their livelihoods on ideas, but it thrives on rent seeking transactions between economic factions and collusional imitation ring cartier capitalist state. This area is notable not only for its opulence but also this could be just a coincidence for industrious regulating to bring everyone into compliance with the right rules.

Which brings us to the reign of virtue at Bethesda Elementary School. There, campaign finance reform reached an apogee in recent student elections to pick officers for the next school year. They can wear T shirts bearing their names. They can talk about their competition. And they can make promises. Not even about school lunches. 9 year old candidate for vice president told the Post, can say certain things because the kids would get too excited. Of course politics should be purged of excitement. Just six per candidate, however, and only as long as the signs say nothing about promises or rivals or perhaps anything else.

The Post says the were first imposed the 2008 election cycle to keep campaign expenditures from spiraling out of control. Something uncontrolled? Can have that. Otherwise corruption or the appearance thereof the rationale for adult speech emanating from Washington might become the serpent in the garden that is Bethesda Elementary. The next thing you know the wee candidates would be competing for votes the way George Washington did. He offered whiskey. At Bethesda Elementary, the prophylactic rules keep size 4 sneakers off the slippery slope to perdition, understood as candidates dispensing Tootsie Rolls.

But even in Montgomery Country, where liberal high mindedness is the established religion, it is not easy engineering a pristine politics of absolutely equal capacities and perfect manners. The Post reports that during his speech a 9 year old candidate for treasurer used a prop two bricks made of shredded $100 bills that his mother, a former Treasury official, got from the Federal Reserve. It hardly seems fair to allow such parental interventions mom as super PAC to interfere with the creation of a level playing field.

And it gets worse. A 9 year old candidate for secretary has a mother who is a congressional staffer but says she got more help with her speech from her father, a pollster. A 10 year old running for president on an anti bullying platform included in the first draft of her speech the confession I can be mean but mother said, that out immediately.' Surely Bethesda Elementary should do something about unequal political advantages resulting from unregulated political talk between child candidates and their parents.

Bethesda Elementary is, however, diligently preparing its pupils for the world Montgomery County hopes is coming. It will be a world in which politics, cleansed of promises and criticism and too much talk, will be perfectly equal and ever so nice.

the Cost of Giving May Be Too High

Still, even Davis acknowledges that "people can't support everything. I think that people will have to very carefully choose what they're going to support; the causes are terribly expensive. There was a time when things were not this costly. At the same time, I think these organizations have to ask ticket prices that are going to raise a sum that's meaningful and going to help the cause."

To maximize profits, Davis set ticket prices high and plans to hold auctions during the evening. Portions of the event have been underwritten, and special higher priced tables have been sold to various sponsors.

That "something very special" includes a gift bag for guests stocked with Revlon products, a commemorative silk scarf or necktie, a Cartier silver picture frame, a Mickey Mouse watch, a Judith Lieber key chain and more, all donated. cartier pinky ring replica Auction items include trips, designer gowns, jewelry, center court seats at Wimbledon, auto racing with Paul Newman and a walk on part in the next John Landis film.

Whitney Houston, Lionel Richie, Liza Minnelli and Placido Domingo are slated to perform; George Schlatter will produce the show and Merv Griffin will emcee.

But not all groups have the pull of Barbara and Marvin Davis, nor can they attract an A list celebrity contingent.

The Pacific Asia Museum, now planning its upcoming annual Festival of the Autumn Moon dinner/auction, finds it hard to get underwriting from the business community "because we're too small," according to Gisele Beugelmans, chairman of the event.

"There's a lot of competition, and we have limited visibility," she explains. "Plus, the price of everything has gone up. The overhead is so much."

Although some wanted to raise ticket prices, the cost was kept at $175 for the third year in a row; Beugelmans hopes the auction will supplement the $150,000 (approximately one sixth copy cartier ring love of the museum's budget) they hope to raise through the dinner.

Still, she won't call in favors from friends to fill seats in the tented party adjacent to the museum.

"I don't want to deal," she says. "If people come it's because they want to, I don't want them to feel obliged."

The Los Angeles Theater Center is starting from scratch, in a sense, when it holds its first large benefit dinner and auction in September in celebration of its fifth anniversary.

Tickets are $250 per person, and according to Shelby Kaplan Sloan, "We made a real conscious decision from the beginning that we would try not to come out with a high priced event, but one that would enable us to draw a wider cross section imitation cartier yellow gold love ring of people. That's in keeping with the philosophy of the theater.

"We'll target mostly people we know for our first event, and we're going to build very modestly this year," she says, outlining her strategy to raise from $150,000 to $250,000 from the dinner.

    But times are undeniably tough.

"Everything has gone up," says event planner Judy Levy of Levy, Pazanti and Associates. "The hotel, the caterer everything. It's all escalated with inflation. And because of cutbacks in grants," she adds, "foundations knock off love cartier ring have had to go more to the private sector for funding. Also, one of the reasons people are charging more money for tickets is that they read about other fund raisers, and they say, 'If they're charging that much, so will we.' It's not that they're ripping anybody off, but they have to be competitive. And if the going rate is $250, you don't want to price below that."

Despite this somewhat bleak picture, Levy says some groups still are able to make a tidy profit. The Lupus Foundation of America, a relatively unknown organization raising money for disease research and education, held its first fund raiser last spring and netted more than $500,000.

Underwriting has become more important as parties have gotten more expensive. The cost of a typical dinner for a few hundred at a Beverly Hills hotel ballroom complete with cocktail reception, decorations and entertainment can run high as $150,000, an amount that can take a big chunk out of the proceeds.

But as corporations, foundations and wealthy individuals begin to feel the crush of funding requests from so many nonprofit organizations, event planners have had to look for other ways to subsidize their parties.

Some throw in an auction or raffle as part of the evening's entertainment. Another technique is to ask individuals and companies to underwrite portions of the event, such as centerpieces, entertainment, invitations and food. Others offer special tables at double or triple their face value, throwing in such added attractions as special recognition in the program and admittance to a VIP reception.

"The fans at Man United demand entertaining football and I'm sure Mourinho will come and try and give it," said former midfielder Scholes.

Van Gaal led United to fifth place in the Premier League but was criticised for his lack of attacking football, with the team only scoring 49 league goals this season.

Scholes, who won 11 league titles and two Champions Leagues during a 20 year career at Old Trafford, was among Van Gaal's critics, claiming United were disjointed and played boring football under the 64 year old.

He also questioned whether the former Netherlands, Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss really understood the "ethos of the van cleef & arpels necklace replica club".

"I think Mourinho will have watched that closely and will have seen what happened," Scholes, 41, told BBC Surrey. "He's a top manager, he's proven that before and hopefully he can do that again."

Scholes and Giggs were in the United team that won the Premier League title in 2013Scholes also said he was optimistic former team mate Ryan Giggs, who was assistant manager under Van Gaal, will stay at Old Trafford.

"I think it's important that there's some form of continuity," he said. "Hopefully he'll still be at the club, hopefully still working with the first team.

"He knows the club inside out, he's been there for nearly 30 years now."

The impending appointment of former Chelsea boss Mourinho has drawn a mixed reaction from former United players.

Paul Scholes and Peter Schmeichel on Jose Mourinho

Ex goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel says the Portuguese "could save" the club, while Hull City boss Steve Bruce believes the opportunity to bring in the three time Premier League winner was "just too good to miss".

But Old Trafford legend Eric Cantona told the Guardian his former club should have gone for Pep Guardiola, who will join Manchester City instead.

Cantona, who celebrated his 50th birthday this week, said he "loved" Mourinho but claimed the style of football he chooses to play is "not Manchester United".

New Sustainable Oasis Flows at Brooklyn Botanic Garden

There's now more water alongside the plants and flowers at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, but it is actually part of an effort to conserve copy van cleef clover earrings water. NY1's Roger Clark filed the following report.

One last bucket of water is dumped into the newest feature at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. One of its biggest supporters, Shelby White, was there to do the honors.

"The Brooklyn Botanic Garden is one of the jewels of Brooklyn. I've known it since I was a child. And I'm really thrilled at we are involved in this project," White said.

Called The Shelby White and Leon Levy Water Garden, it is a new attraction in the south portion of the garden, part of a $17.2 million project that has included a new Children's Discovery Garden and entrance at Flatbush Avenue. You have to come to the discovery garden now. And we are hoping this water garden will function the same way," said Scott Medbury, president of the Brooklyn Botanic Garden.

But it's more than just a pretty pond and brook with native plants and wildlife. It massively cuts down the amount of fresh water the garden uses by re circulating it.

"Previously, we were here throwing 21 million gallons of drinkable water into the storm system annually. And that's 96 percent erased through this project," said Michael Van Valkenburgh of Michael Van Valkenburgh and Associates.

The design even incorporates computers and weather forecasting to reduce runoff from the garden that winds up in the sewer system during heavy rainfalls, part of the effort to cut down on sewage overflows into the city's waterways.

"Through satellite technology and van cleef and arpels earrings replica predictive modeling, understand when a rain event might occur. And we are able to drop the water level that you see here and then use that space that we have created to handle the stormwater," said van cleef & arpels necklace replica Matt Bird, senior associate with Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates.

The folks at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden are hoping that parks and gardens around the country will take a look at what they are doing here and perhaps implement similar systems so they can help with the conservation effort.

    I LIKE THAT STORE

Madison Avenue poshest shops are rolling out the red copy necklace cartier carpet to entice deep pocketed shoppers and neighborhood toddlers are crawling all over it.

While shopkeepers on Madison Avenue are more used to moms in Manolos jumping out of Town Cars for monstrous credit card binges, they are recognizing a new reality: many moms have traded stilettos for strollers.

But instead of shunning the stroller set, like many upscale shops in the city do, these Madison Avenue stores, like Jimmy Choo, Cartier and Bulgari, are hosting face painting, story telling, sing alongs and other kid friendly events in hopes of getting the upscale stroller set into replica cartier jewelry the stores to see the merchandise.

The hope is that mom will return without the stroller and with her charge card. And the plan seems to be working.

Instead of a panicked reaction, the staff laughed and helped her try on another pair.

Mysterious man points GUN at Google Street View vehicle from address where toddler was found DEAD in June

This is the chilling image of a bare chested man pointing a gun at a Google Street View car on the porch of a house where a 17 month old toddler was found dead under mysterious circumstances.

The alarming photographs shows five people sitting outside of the Brinker St address in Detroit, Michigan, watching the camera car pass as a young man in blue shorts raises what looks like shotgun and takes aim at the vehicle.

The residence is the same address where little Ziya Turner was found dead under a pile of clothes in a closet on June 29, when her family members were supposed to be babysitting her.

    Scroll down for video

'We were hoping just hoping someone had took her,' Mrs Elam said toWXYZ.

'We never thought she was in the house right up under our nose it didn't cross our minds.'

The family held a candlelight vigil for the little girl and Ziya's uncle was initially arrested and then released.

Police have not made public the autopsy results, but say that the family is co operating and they do not suspect foul play. The investigation is still ongoing.

The uncle told police he temporarily left the children alone to go to his bedroom before returning to find Ziya missing.

He reported the other children saying they hadn't seen where she could have gone.

'The last van cleef alhambra bracelet replica I saw her, she was sitting on the dining room floor eating cereal. That's when everything went to a panic,' Mrs Elam recalled.

The girl's father, 25 year old Emmanuel Turner, said he rushed straight to the house to help their search efforts.

Worried the girl had left the property, the family made and distributed fliers throughout their neighbourhood after calling police and issuing an Amber Alert.

Receiving the tragic news early Saturday morning, for Mrs Elam, the hardest part she says is now knowing that the toddler was in her house the entire time.

'My grandkids. they're blaming themselves, like we didn't search the area,' she told WXYZ. 'But you can't put that on you. It was a bad accident. It was a very bad accident that we just have to deal with.'

The Google Street View image has attracted a lot of attention because of the safety implications.

While many people use the Street View tool, few think of the dangers that lurk when driving down unfamiliar roads that may not be safe and where Google may not be welcome.
