Smoant has been a little reserved in the pod mod market recently, and now we know the reason – the Smoant vaporesso target mini 2.

It seems they’ve have been patiently waiting for others to make the moves with pod mods, and then try and improve on what’s on offer.

They may have just achieved it, as the Smoant Pasito offers some useful features and importantly is the first rebuildable pod system on the market.There’s also adjustable airflow with what looks like a small sliding switch, to make the most of each of those coils for DTL or MTL vaping.

The Pasito comes with a 3ml capacity pod, which allows the coils to slot into the bottom when attached to a small base plate. The base plate is magnetic and will help connect the pod to the device.

The pods have a replaceable resin drip tip which connects to a knurled base so it can easily be unscrewed to allow for top-filling of the pod.The Pasito is powered by Smoant’s Ant chipset, which offers a constant output and variable wattage. There’s a designated button on the front of the device to adjust the wattage with 5 different settings; 10W/13W/16W/20W/25W.

It also comes with a built-in 1100mAh battery and a type-C USB charge port for fast charging.

Each side of the device has one large and one small panel made from a CPR material, which is colorful, high gloss, durable and fingerprint resistant.

On one of the small panels, there are 5 small LED lights which help indicate the wattage settings and the battery status of the device.

Quite a few of Vaporessos mods have pretty unique looks I'd say, and the Target mods are no exception. Both the Pro and the Mini versions comes in at least 5 different colors, some of which I would not use publicly under any circumstances. But others look pretty cool, and luckily the Vapefly Jester Kit provided for this review was the silver/stainless steel version, which I think is one of the best looking ones.
The Target mod, and the mini version I've got here, does have somewhat of a futuristic look, which I think is kind of cool. It's a way to differentiate itself from other mods. There is quite a lot of button rattle though, especially on the fire button. Not something I think about whenever I pick it up, but it does make it feel a bit cheaper than it could have felt, cause other than that both the tank and the mod feels pretty solidly built. The looks of the tank is quite nice as well. Nothing too fancy. When it comes to the 5 colors it comes in, I could have used 4 of them... guess the pink one is aimed at the ladies.
Starting with the mod, it's pretty straight forward in use, and quite simple. Charge port is on the bottom. Personally I prefer it on the side so you can charge while it's standing straight up. Not a problem if you're using it with the Guardian tank that comes in the kit, cause that one does not leak any way you put it down, but some atties can leak if you leave them sideways for a longer period of time.

The menu system is very easy to use. There's a + and a - button for adjusting either wattage or temperature depending on what mode you're in, and there is a button below for selecting the mode. This one needs to be held down for a while to cycle between the different modes (Watt, Ni TC, SS TC, Ti TC and two configurable TC modes). You can also flip the screen upside down (or the other way around if you like) by holding down the + and - at the same time for a while. Those of you who have read some of my previous reviews will probably remember that I'm not a big fan of TC. I mean I don't mind it, I just prefer wattage mode. That said, I believe the SS TC works as intended. This is the only TC mode I've tested as the coils that comes with the tank are both SS coils.

A light crackling pop noise is a completely predictable and usual process. This is an e-juice being heated by the coil and vaporizing, and it means a good sign that your e-cig works properly. When you vape, your e-liquid hits a very hot coil and turns it into a vapor. This reaction makes you hear a crackling noise. The more or less loud behavior of your vape depends on what kind of device and e-juice you use, or the intensity and strength of the puffs.

Using a sub-ohm vaping setup is the first reason for an instant crackle. An RTA with a fairly open airflow forces air and increases the productivity of the vape. More e-liquid will condensate and less turn to vapor, thus an excess of liquid makes the noise.

E-liquid can’t be vaporized effectively when your vape wattage is too low. You need to increase it for normal heating or try to make longer draws. Otherwise, you may flood your atomizer and e-juice will spit to your mouth. Avoid this by increasing the device’s wattage. Consider vaping at a higher wattage and see if the noises are still the same.

Moreover, try to change the airflow adjustments to reduce the amount of e-liquid. Twist the collar of your sub-ohm tank to loose some air pressure.

Feel free to fill in your vape with new e-juices, but remember one thing: thicker one means more vapor. A thinner e-liquid might cause a coil flooding and atomizer’s popping and spitting. You may use thicker vegetable glycerin instead of thinner propylene glycol liquid. Sugar is very much like wood when it is burned. Both contain cellulose which breaks down when burnt. Then the gases vaporize and make a popping sound. It is totally natural that e-juice makes that popping as it gets heated by the coil.
