Both the central Chinese government and local authorities have encouraged companies to start returning to work, having initially instructed them to delay their restart after the Chinese New Year as a result of the coronavirus outbreak.
In Jiangsu province where Wuxi is located, some 75% of all large and medium-sized industrial enterprises have resumed production on Tuesday, according to local media reports.Fastmarkets’ weekly price assessment for stainless steel cold-rolled coil 2mm grade 304 domestic, ex-whs China in the country’s major market of Wuxi was 14,000-14,500 yuan ($1,995-2,066) per tonne including value-added tax on Wednesday February 19, narrowing by 200 yuan per tonne on both ends from 13,800-14,700 yuan per tonne a week earlier.
Some sellers lowered their prices from 14,600-14,700 yuan per tonne to 14,400-14,500 yuan per tonne to stimulate buying interest. But others raised their prices from 13,800-13,900 yuan per tonne to 14,000-14,100 yuan per tonne on expectations of demand recovering gradually over the next month or two.
“With the virus infection rate dropping, more companies are willing to start work. This will push up stainless steel demand,” a trader in Wuxi said.
A total of 394 new confirmed cases of infection were reported on Wednesday, down sharply from 1,749 cases a day earlier, according to data released by China’s National Health Commission.Fastmarkets’ weekly export price assessment for stainless steel cold-rolled coil 2mm grade 304, fob China was $1,830-1,880 per tonne on Wednesday, down by $10 per tonne from $1,840-1,890 per tonne a week earlier.
Chinese stainless CRC was sold at $1,850-1,860 per tonne fob during the week.Export offers for Chinese stainless CRC were heard at $1,840-1,880 per tonne fob, or about $1,860-1,900 per tonne cif East Asia.
Sources told Fastmarkets that ongoing negotiations for Chinese stainless steel exports were mainly for forward shipments and not spot cargoes.
The most basic difference between the grades of steel is the presence of molybdenum in stainless 316. Molybdenum is a chemical element used for the strengthening and hardening of steel. Its main function in stainless 316 is to help fight off corrosion from chlorides. Stainless 316 contains more nickel than stainless 304, while 304 contains more chromium than 316. Stainless 304 usually consists of 18% chromium and 8% nickel. Stainless 316 is made up of 16% chromium, 10% nickel and 2% molybdenum.
The two steel grades are comparable in appearance, chemical makeup and characteristics. Both steels are durable and provide excellent resistance to corrosion and rust. 304 stainless steel is the most versatile and widely used austenitic stainless steel in the world, due to its corrosion resistance. 304 stainless is also cheaper in cost compared to 316, another reason for its popularity and widespread use.
Stainless 316 is more expensive because it provides a higher corrosion resistance, especially against chlorides and chlorinated solutions. This makes stainless 316 more desirable in applications where salt exposure is an issue. If you have an application with powerful corrosives or chlorides, the extra cost of stainless 316 is highly recommended. In such applications, 316 stainless will last longer than 304, providing you with extra years of life and usage. If your application uses milder acids or does not contain salt exposure, stainless 304 is perfect. Below we list some common applications for both grades of steel.
The price increases since late November on grade 304 flat products amount to about $100 per tonne in most major markets of the world, which in turn represents a price increase of around 4-5%. This is impressive for a single month; indeed, prices have rallied by around 17% since their lows back in May (or in March for Asia).
Further increases are likely too as 2021 begins but, as we illustrate in our European analysis this month, these price increases appear rather unimpressive compared to those in most carbon steel markets. Steelmakers’ margins, while improving in the stainless segment, also appear to be lagging behind their counterparts in the carbon steel industry.
Confluences of key supply and demand factors explain much of this, with supply of stainless steel rebounding quicker than that for carbon steel following the widespread shutdowns in business activity in Europe and the United States in particular back in April/May. Demand has rebounded by a smaller degree than that for carbon steel as well, a theme that we touch on in our discussion of Asian markets this month.
And while prices are likely to continue higher in the short term given our expectations for raw materials prices, steelmakers are likely to struggle to increase margins to any notable extent. The consumer-orientated major end users of stainless steel will remain under pressure next year, while supplies on a global scale remain plentiful.
This thing has some great features, is WAY more adaptable than most of the others I’ve seen, and I can see where it would really come in handy when working on certain welding projects.
I like seeing stuff getting put together like this that uses both new parts and scrap stuff, because it is relatable and inspires people to look through their own pile of parts when they need a new custom tool for the shop.
Watch and let us know what you think. And if there are some specific tools you’d like to see get made, let us know what those are and we’ll put them on the list to build when we get the new shop done.
Strong Hand Tools, North American Distributor of the Siegmund heavy duty welding tables, has announced a 1 x 1 m Siegmund welding table (28 mm series). To get more news about welding table, you can visit cntrueplate official website.
The smaller table size is suitable as a space-saving modular fixturing surface. Other new table sizes added include: 1 x .5 m (16 mm series), 1.2 x .8 m and 1.5 x 1 m (both 16 mm and 28 mm series).
All heavy duty Siegmund welding tables feature the hardened steel and plasma nitride finish designed to deliver a resilient, wear-resistant, corrosion-resistant surface. Professional Extreme 750 Siegmund welding tables have a surface hardness of 750 HV (60 HRC). Choose from System 28 (28 mm bore holes) or System 16 (16 mm bore holes).
Many of us know what it’s like crawling around on the concrete to weld for hours on our knees, burning our bodies, and piercing our knees with wire or bits of metal on the ground. This not only wrecks us, but it’s an inefficient way to complete projects.
Because of this, we have decided to write six reviews of our favorite welding tables and a buying guide to help with the selection process, in the hope that it helps you find a solution to this problem. There is an extensive range of welding tables to choose from online, so we hope this helps you narrow down what’s best.
1. Miller 60SX Arcstation Welding Table – Best Overall
After much consideration, we have chosen the Miller 60SX Arcstation as our top pick. It suits the most diverse range of welding applications, has the largest surface area, and comes with high quality and heavy-duty materials.
A downside is that it’s one of the heaviest tables available at 318 pounds. Once it’s set up, it can either remain stable on its six legs and become a hub for your welding and cutting needs, or be moved around on its four caster wheels. These make it easy to move around your workshop or garage.
2. Nomad Portable Welding Table – Best Value
The Strong Hand Tools Nomad Portable table has a very different style than Miller’s 60SX Arcstation, but it’s an affordable option with a diversity of purposes. It’s the best portable welding table for the price: lightweight, small enough to carry around, and strong enough to bear 350 pounds of load.
It also has an adjustable feature that allows for positioning the tabletop +/- 90° around one axis, with three long slots to attach clamps to it. It’s much smaller than most other tables, but for a light, portable option at a low cost, we’re happy to recommend it to anyone wanting a low-priced option with slightly lower quality.
3. Miller Portable ArcStation 29×29 Welding-Table
The Miller Portable ArcStation table is similar to the Strong Hand Tools table, but it doesn’t include much more while being more expensive. It does have a more stable leg structure and is significantly higher in quality, being able to bear a much heavier load. However, for a portable table, it’s heavy and doesn’t have a tilt function.
We liked the slots. They are designed well, in an X shape rather than parallel lines. This layout allows a useful range of clamping positions. It also lasts much longer than the Strong Hand Tools Nomad table due to higher quality components. It eliminates the need for locking and clamping devices, which are generally the first to break.
4. Strong Hand Tools Welding Table & Kit
The Strong Hand Tools FixturePoint Table, with a start-up clamping kit, is one of the best types of tables on the market. It comes with a series of 0.63″ (16mm) holes, with a vast range of fixtures that sit into the holes without the need for nuts and bolts. It makes clamping frames very quick and easy and gives a wide range of options.
It’s in the medium price range and specialized as a clamping table. If clamping is often necessary for your welding projects, a fixture point table like this is invaluable.
So when Leroy Richter, MOTHER'S Eco-Village director, realized he'd be doing a whole lot of metal fabrication in preparation for this summer's scheduled activities he made up his mind to build—at last!—the welding bench that'd been sorely needed in our research shop for years.
The table he chose to make—which incorporates features found on a variety of commercial models—was specifically designed to provide convenience while handling the tasks that Leroy knew he'd be tackling sooner or later. For example, its open construction lets grinding dust and slag fall through, rather than collect upon, the work surface. And its dimensions (30-1/4" X 78-1/4") allow the bench to be rolled through any conventional doorway—either wheelbarrow-style or tipped up vertically—by means of the casters mounted on the legs and upper corners of one end.
We have all seen our share of bland, unappealing parking garages. Unfortunately, many of us have had a hand in designing them as well. One may point out the obvious: that the primary goal of the parking garage is to simply park cars. We will not argue this point; however most parking garages are located in the heart of urban communities where architecture interoperability and smart growth mean everything. To get more news about rope mesh green wall, you can visit mesh-fabrics.com official website.
The Parking Authority of River City, Louisville, Ky., and CITY Properties Group wanted to do something different when they designed the Clay Commons Garage and Glassworks Garage. One concept chosen that benefited these parking garages, both aesthetically and sustainably, was that of a green wall.
The concept of green walls is not new—it’s been around for more than 2,000 years, since the ancient Babylonians created the Hanging Gardens. As technology has evolved, so has our ability to simplify this process. Just look at the world’s largest vertical garden: installed at the Centro Commercial Fiordaliso mall in Milan, Italy, it measures 13,600 square feet and includes more than 44,000 plants, but was built in only 90 days.
Why Go Green
The benefits of green walls are numerous. They are aesthetically pleasing, which improves a customer’s overall experience. Many studies have linked the presence of plants to improved human health and mental well-being. Aesthetically pleasing and sustainable features always improve the marketing of a garage. Green walls keep patrons’ vehicles cool on hot summer days while reducing the heat island effect. They also deter graffiti and reduce noise by serving as soundproof barriers. The most important benefit is the improvement of air quality, as green walls capture air pollutants and filter contaminates. At Republic Parking System, we recommend involving a landscaping professional during the installation process. It is most important to choose a native or adaptive plant species that will thrive in the given climate conditions.
There are several types of the green façade systems typically used in designing a green wall to choose from; the cable and wire rope net system and the modular trellis panel system are the most popular. The cable and wire rope system uses steel cables to support faster-growing plants, and wire nets with closer intervals to support slower growing plants. In Louisville, we chose the modular trellis plant system, which is a rigid fence-like panel made from steel wire that supports the plants without sacrificing the integrity of the parking garage building membrane.
Once the green walls grow to complete coverage, a typical parking maintenance employee can keep up with the maintenance of the green wall after some brief training from a landscape professional. Usually, watering and pruning the plant and periodically inspecting the cable or panel system is all that is needed. Green walls typically take between three and five years before reaching full coverage and we are completing our second year. See p. 32 for another example of a garage with a green wall.
