Robert Doyle looks set to retain mayoral robes
MELBOURNE lord mayor Robert Doyle looks almost certain to be returned, but without a majority on the 11 member council, according to early inspection of ballot papers.
As ballots were opened and sorted last night, Cr Doyle looked to be polling well ahead of his rivals, said City of Melbourne scrutineers.
Candidate Anthony van der Craats said: ''We know the results already. Doyle's returned for a second term. He got over 40 per cent in the Lord Mayor's case. That's a clear cut win. He fell just below the 40 per cent in the council".
Cr Doyle's running mate and current deputy lord mayor, Susan Riley, and incumbent councillors Kevin Louey, Jackie Watts and Ken Ong are also expected to be re elected.
Cr Louey came under scrutiny during the campaign for allegedly arranging ''cash for access'' meetings with developers.

RV dehumidifiers need to collect pints of water per day, not ounces. RVs can be very large, up to around 400 square feet in floor area. The Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers recommends a minimum capacity of 10 pints per day for a "moderately damp" area of up to 500 square feet. This recommendation applies, of course to dehumidifiers for the house. Although nominally a 45 pint dehumidifier this unit is actually comparable to the Soleus CFM 25E. This apparent anomaly arises from the different testing conditions at which the two units were rated. At the AHAM standard, 80 F and 60% relative humidity, both are 25 pint dehumidifiers.
