Not all fabrics are created equal, which means the type of printer needed for any given fabric printing project depends on the fabric you plan to use. Certain materials favor certain ink chemistries. Luckily, in the world of industrial printing, these details are dialed in and there are different fabric printers available for various applications.digital sublimation printing fabric

Here, we’ll compare dye sublimation and direct-to-fabric printing for custom banners, flags, clothing, lightbox graphics, light shades and more. Ultimately, the necessary machine will depend on your vision. Whether it’s cotton, silk, nylon, or polyester that you plan to use, it’s equally important the correct inks are employed to ensure quality, longevity and durability in your final product.

There’s a good chance that your shower curtain or favorite sports jersey was created using polyester and the dye-sublimation printing process. Polyester is an integral part of the textile market and one of the most popular materials used for soft signage at trade shows, airports and malls. Top dye-sub fabric printers on the market include the Epson F9370, Epson F7200, Mimaki TS300, Mutoh VJ-1638, and Roland XT-640.

When it comes to non-polyester fibers, a different ink chemistry is necessary so you can print directly into fabrics without having to transfer from paper. Products such as flags, that require deep ink penetration, benefit from this direct application. A few top-of-the line direct-to-fabric printers are the Mimaki TX300P-1800, Mimaki TX300P-1800B, and Mutoh VJ-1938TX.

Whether you’re designing for decorative, commercial, or creative purposes, Duggal specialists work with you to transform your ideas from Vision to Visuals. Watch the video below for an inside look at the Duggal fabric printing process using eco-friendly, water-based inks and the latest Mimaki dye-sublimation printers.

Gauze is a fabric that has many different uses, medical gauze is specifically used in wound care. Gauze pads, bandage rolls, and other medical dressings all take advantage of the highly absorbent quality of gauze. It is a versatile product and can be used by itself or it can be saturated with petroleum like in Xeroform. When it comes to medical gauze you will have a lot of choices so it is best to ask your doctor for a recommendation. If you are using medical gauze to treat an open wound then you should make sure you are using a sterile gauze. It is important that wounds are kept clean and the best way to do that is to use sterile medical supplies. Switching from regular nitrile gloves and using sterile gloves instead can keep a sterile zone for your wound. Your medical supply store should have a selection of types of gauze, such as sterile gauze pads, bandage rolls, nitrile gloves, and wound cleansers. All of these can help you avoid infection.medical gauze bandage

Two Main Types of Medical Gauze:
Woven Gauze
Woven gauze has a loose open weave. The loose nature of the weave allows the fluid from the wound to be absorbed into the fibers. The open weave helps the wound fluid to pass through the gauze and be absorbed by other more absorbent dressings such as a gauze pads or sponges. Woven gauze cannot be cut, the cotton material, because it is woven, will start to unravel. The debris or lint can get lost in the wound which will delay healing. Woven gauze is a general gauze that is used as a secondary dressing. It should not be used directly against a wound because it can dry the wound out which will make dressing removal painful and it would damage any newly healed tissues.

Non Woven Gauze

Non woven gauze is made from fibers that resemble a weave but they are not woven, they are pressed together and condensed. This tight pattern helps non-woven gauze absorb more wound fluid, which really means that it increases the over-all absorbency. Non woven gauze has less loose lint than traditional woven gauze which means fewer bits and pieces of gauze left behind in your wound. Those small pieces of fluff and lint can cause problems because any type of debris in your wound can delay healing. Non woven fibers are usually made with polyester or rayon and sometimes they are blends of both. This gauze tends to be more durable and more comfortable than woven gauze pads. Non woven gauze can be used as a primary dressing.

Give consumers some credit. They are finding more and more ways to get hurt. In addition, give suppliers as much credit. They are keeping pace with consumers in terms of new first aid items that treat these injuries.

Suppliers are eager to say that they are developing new bandages and ointments to help consumers take even better care of cuts, burns and other minor maladies. At the same time, a growing number of retailers are working to make it easier for consumers to find relief on store shelves.first aid tape roll

Yet, the excitement within the category is not translating into growing sales on the shelves. According to IRI, a Chicago-based market research firm, for the 52 weeks ended May 20, U.S. multi-outlet sales of first aid accessories totaled more than $2 billion, down nearly 2% compared with the same period last year. Sales of first aid tape, bandages, gauze and cotton totaled more than $879.1 million, up 1.68%. One bright spot was first aid kits, up 2.73% to nearly $55.2 million.

Making the category even more interesting is the fact that the baby boom generation remains the main customer here — which suppliers say may be a good thing.

“Currently, we see that the aging population is growing, and therefore accounts for a large number of consumers in the wound care and first aid space,” said Jeffrey Thompson, marketing brand lead for Band-Aid Brand Adhesive Bandages, a brand of New Brunswick, N.J.-based Johnson & Johnson. “We also see that people are leading more active lifestyles, and consumers are looking for products that fit those lifestyles.”
So the rush to bring new items to market continues unabated. For example, Band-Aid Brand recently released Hydro Seal Adhesive Bandages for Wound Care and Foot Care, which feature hydrocolloid technology, designed to keep water out while absorbing liquid that oozes out of a blister or other wound. The hydrocolloid technology shows the bandage working as it forms a white bubble during the healing process. The bandage helps prevent the formation of scabs that can prolong healing and cause scarring, the company said.

“Consumer trends are shaping the category,” Thompson said. “People are buying products with clearer benefits because they are tying it to usage occasions and specific activities for their particular lifestyles.”

As baby boomers age, they need more healthcare products, put more stress on the healthcare system and need retailers to meet their growing needs, said Kimberly Washington, vice president of consumer marketing at Northfield, Ill.-based Medline. “We are also noticing a need for patients to prepare at home prior to certain procedures as the number of outpatient care increases,” she said. “With this in mind, a more prominent and important concern is focused around infection prevention.”

Medline created a line of Germ Shield products, which act as a consumer’s first line of defense for infection prevention. The line includes Antimicrobial Ointment, CHG Antiseptic Pre-Surgical Cleanser Kit, and 2-layer gloves. Also, Truly Ouchless! bandages have been improved with advanced breathable adhesive and two types of backing — plastic and Flex-Fabric. They are designed for families with kids, or anyone with delicate skin. The product’s EZ Release silicone adhesive technology is specifically designed to hold tight and let go easy, which the company said makes removal easier and less painful. The user can peek at how the wound is healing and then reseal the bandage securely.

So, we are back. It is time to talk about everyone's favorite topic, 3D printing. At the turn of the New Year, you may have had the commitment to jump into the exciting realm of additive manufacturing or 3D printing.Best Quality Diy 3D Printer

As an emerging hobbyist or as a small business you have probably already gone on to learn how 3D printing will change multiple industries and have selected the perfect 3D printer to fit your needs. As entry costs for additive manufacturing have dropped the number of capabilities of what you can print has drastically risen. With a relatively small investment compared to previous years, you could 3D print deserts, functioning prototypes, models, tools, weapons, cosplay armor, and even other 3D printers. And that is not even the half of it.

Today we are going to focus on one thing, what you can print with a 3D printer; some of the most useful projects that you can find across the web for both hobbyists and the small business owner. If you need a little 3D printing refresher, be sure to stop here.

3D printing your own robotic arm is a fun way to dip your toes into the world of robotics and even some areas of artificial intelligence, depending on the project. Whether you want to purchase a kit or start from scratch, there is a massive online community available for those thinking of pursuing this type of project.

If this is an area of interest for you, be sure to check out the Thor project page. Developed by Hackaday, this arm is fully open source and 3D printable. The robotic arm has six-degrees of freedom and can carry a payload of 750 grams. Now for creating useful things around the house, 3D printing is an awesome tool. For a friend, as a business, or simply for you in the mornings, why not 3D print this coffee maker. Though not every component is 3D printed, it is a great delicious way to begin your 3D printing journey.

Companies like Not Impossible Labs are using 3D printing to change the lives of people around the world. Using cheap but sturdy materials, the company has provided prosthetic limbs for amputees including injured children in war-torn areas.

Often, when people are curious about 3D printing, they ask, “can 3D printers replicate any object?”. The answer is a little tricky! Yes, theoretically a 3D printer can replicate most objects, and can even 3D print figurines of body-scanned people. One of the main issues with 3D printing, though, has been colors.LCD panel 3d printer

It’s complex to 3D print in full, photorealistic color, and there are less than ten 3D printer manufacturers that achieve this. Until recently, full-color 3D printing was exclusive to expensive industrial additive manufacturing systems from brands such as Stratasys or 3D Systems. Today, more affordable (under $10K) desktop full-color 3D printers exist.
Full-color 3D printers are able to create objects with photorealistic color. To do so, the 3D printer must be able to mix different filaments or inks together to obtain precise shades and gradients, similar to regular 2D paper printers. This is also known as indirect color 3D printing, as the color is applied to the base material (the base material isn’t pre-colored before 3D printing).

In the 3D printing industry, the term “multicolor” is sometimes used as a synonym for full-color. However, for clarity in this article, we will only refer to multicolor for 3D printers and accessories that are able to 3D print a few colors (e.g.: 2-color 3D printers, 3-color 3D printers, Prusa multi-material add-on, Mosaic Palette, etc.).

This type of 3D printing is also called direct color 3D printing, as the filament already has a specific color before being 3D printed.
