The automotive industry looks for high quality and low prices. Sand casting helps them have both. It’s a process that scales well, making it cost-effective for low to high volumes. It works with a wide range of metals and is capable of high finished part quality. However, it’s not appropriate for every automotive casting. Here’s information on when it is suitable.Get more news about Sand Casting Parts, you can vist our website!

Sand Patterns
All casting involves pouring liquid metal into a cavity where it cools and solidifies. In sand casting that cavity is formed in green or resin sand. “Green” refers to the sand containing moisture from the clay binder, and not to its color. Resin sand is where the sand is coated with a resin binder.

The cavity is made in two halves. A pattern replicating half of the part being made is placed into a box and sand is packed around it. The box is turned over and the pattern removed, leaving a cavity in the sand. The process is repeated to form a cavity replicating the other half of the part in a second box.

The two boxes are stacked together and metal is poured in through a hole in the upper box. Once it solidifies, the boxes are opened and the sand broken away to reveal the cast part.
Internal cavities in the cast part are created by placing cores in the sand mold. These are removed after casting, so the patterns must be designed to make this possible.

Beneficial Characteristics of Sand Casting
The process can be automated for low-cost, high volume production
Suitable for a wide selection of materials
Green sand permeability helps reduce porosity and nonfills
Downsides to Sand Casting
Slow cooling and solidification (sand insulates,) results in a coarse microstructure
Minimum wall thickness is around 3/16”-¼”
Patterns need a draft angle of 1- 2° to release from the sand, so perfectly vertical walls aren’t practical
Parts may need considerable machining to produce tight-tolerance features like mounting holes and bores

Elastomeric Thread Separators

Elastomeric separators can be difficult to place when a posterior tooth is partially erupted, submerged, or trapped under the adjacent tooth. In addition, many adult patients present with extremely worn occlusal surfaces and tight contacts. Although wire separating springs have traditionally been used in such situations, a better alternative is to fabricate a separator from elastomeric thread.Get more news about Plast Recycling Maskine, you can vist our website!

We use Ultra Tuff .030" elastomeric thread, which has a textured surface to keep it from coming untied. A strand of dental floss is first placed between the contacts, then doubled over to form a loop (Fig. A). The elastomeric thread is pulled through to the buccal surface with the loop (Fig. B). One end of the thread is then pulled free, and the floss is removed. The thread is tied three or four times (Fig. C), reversing the direction each time to prevent slippage, and cut off (Fig. D). In some cases, it may be possible to insert the thread directly into the contact without the floss loop.

After one or two weeks, the thread is removed by grasping the knot with an instrument (Fig. E). This technique usually creates sufficient space to place an elastomeric separator. It also allows trapped molars to erupt and upright, saving treatment time (Fig. F). It provides better separation and is more comfortable than separating springs.

The Dance Of Light tower, designed by architecture firm Aedas and completed this year, is 180 meters (590 feet) tall and features a twisted facade that emulates the shape of the northern lights, according to a press release.Get more news about light tower, you can vist our website!
Located on Xingfu Plaza in the Jiangbei district of Chongqing, the building utilizes the simple and elegant form of double-curved facades to create the impression that the building is being twisted, the firm said.
According to Ken Wai, Aedas global design principal, the facade "is not only an outlook expression, but also a way of protection that sculpts interior spaces."The designers were inspired by the dancing aurora -- the rays and spirals of the polar lights often seen in the Arctic and Antarctic -- so light plays a key role in accentuating the twisted shape of the structure. The view of the tower varies from different angles as light reflects and bends over the glass facades.
"When night falls, the curved facade showcases reflections that allude to the dancing figure of a ballerina," said Aedas in the press release.
"The podium roof extends a coherent statement of sliding twist from top to bottom, echoing with the geometry of the tower and maintaining a consistent architectural style."Twisted high-rises have grown in popularity over the last decade thanks to advances in construction, engineering and architectural computer programs.
The Turning Torso, by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava and built in 2005 in Malmo, Sweden, was the first twisted skyscraper that showcased the innovative style of architecture.Other popular twisted buildings include MAD Architects' Absolute World Towers, located in Canada and completed in 2012, as well as the 306-meter-high (1,004-foot-high) Cayan Tower in Dubai, designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill and completed in 2013.
According to Aedas, the Dance Of Light tower has a "twisting angle" of up to 8.8 degrees per floor, which the studio believes is nearly 1.5 times more than any other super high-rise tower.
"As an open public space, the tower has all the credits to be a city icon, especially the significant twisting of the facade is remarkable," Wai added.

Recently, I’ve been working on a solar off-grid monitoring system. In the system are a few split-core Hall effect sensors to monitor DC current in the solar panel current, the battery charge current, and the inverter input current. These currents can vary from 0 A up to about 20 A, so one of the tasks is to calibrate the sensors by checking the sensor’s output at various currents, and with this information, adjust the zero and gain with potentiometers on the sensors.Get more news about Current sensor core, you can vist our website!

A little background first: a split-core Hall effect sensor is not a transformer-based sensor (as this would obviously not work on a DC system) but uses a solid-state device to measure magnetic field strength. So, to begin the calibration task, I connected a wire to a bench power supply; one end to the + output and the other end to the – output. Next, I set the power supply to deliver a constant current of 1 A. (This can be done on most power supplies by setting the voltage output to an arbitrary, non-zero, number, say 2 V. Then the current limit is set to 1 A. Some supplies refer to this as the constant current setting.) Last, I opened the split core hinged top, put the wire in and closed the core shut.
Hall effect sensors typically have 3 leads: operating voltage (usually +5 V), ground, and the sensor output voltage which is a linear function of the sensed magnetic field. So now I could measure the output at 1 A, but I wanted to check a few points up to 20 A. I don’t have a 20 A constant voltage power supply. (You’re probably way ahead of me now.) The answer is to open the split core hinge and add more wraps using the same wire. The sensed magnetic field then grows proportionally to the number of wraps. Therefore, to get a 20 A signal, I could put 20 wraps and connect it to the 1 A input or use 10 wraps and a 2 A input. Turns out wrapping and unwrapping is tiring and prone to error and I thought it would be better to set up a calibration station.

(Ok, it’s not as complex as your cell phone but it can still do something useful…it can do multiplication on an analog signal.)

So, the calibration station consists of is an enclosure with a double banana jack and a length of wire. The rest of the magic is in correctly creating some loops to give us different apparent currents to measure in the Hall effect sensor.

As you see in Figure 1; the enclosure has 4 holes we’ll refer to as boxes. In this example we’ll create 4 unique box windings of 1 loop, 2 loops, 5 loops, and 10 loops. That means with a 2 A input on the banana jacks, the clamped-on Hall effect sensor will measure 2 A, 4 A, 10 A, and 20 A on the various box positions. Above I use the word “loops” loosely as you will see.Figure 3 shows the station, with the cover and legs removed, and the internal wiring for the above example. I used about 100 inches of 24-gauge wire. It’s actually landline telephone wire but it’s the same as the individual wires in an ethernet cable. (Although the wire type is not important other than whether it can handle the amps supplied from the power supply and you can fit it in the enclosure.)

Now, the wire starts at the red banana jack. It’s a little hard to see because of the extra wire bunched up, but the wire then drops down into the lower channel below box 1. You can see there is only one wire running across the channel below box one. The sensor clamps around this lower channel so, if you clamp the sensor on the lower channel of box 1, it will only see the magnetic field of 1 wire, so 1x the power supply current. Looking at box 2 we can see the wire first passing across the lower channel under the box. It then wraps around box 2 in a counterclockwise manner. After this wrap box 2 has 2 wires in the lower channel, so a sensor clamped at the box 2 position will see 2x the magnetic field therefore it will register 2x the power supply current. In a similar manner, box 3 will have the wire pass under it in the lower channel and then have 4 counterclockwise wraps made around the box before passing under box 4. The sensor will see 5x the magnetic field on box 3. Box 4 is created in a similar manner but has 9 wraps around its box, so the sensor sees the current in 10 wires for 10x the magnetic field thereby measuring 10x the power supply current. The wire is then connected to the black banana jack.

USES OF PCB ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING FOR PROTOTYPE LEAD TIME

Sometimes, even the best technology in the world isn't the right fit for the job. Simply put, time and volume matter.Get more news about Pcb Prototype, you can vist our website!

For example, PCB prototyping is a necessary step (whether you think you have the time or not) to ensure the final product will succeed. There's a lot of experimentation that occurs here. Multiple iterations of the design are fabricated on PCBs to achieve a perfected single function before moving to final production.

This is one reason additive manufacturing migrated to the world of electronics manufacturing. Additive manufacturing -- known more popularly as 3D printing -- has accelerated the growth of the fast PCB prototype service industry by creating an alternative to overseas and off-site fabrication of prototype boards. Additive manufacturing primarily exists in the electronics world for quick-turnaround PCB prototype assembly.

The second-most frequent reason we hear from buyers? Avoiding a high one-time tooling cost. OEMs that have a small order or prototype and don't want to pay for tooling might opt for 3D printing over traditional PCB manufacturing. For example, if you only need a small, plastic piece for alignment of your assembly, there's no point in paying for the cost of a mold.Additive manufacturing involves making a three-dimensional physical object from a digital file. The creation of a 3D object is made possible by laying down progressive layers of material.

An object will start as a circuit design that's then converted into computer-aided design (CAD) files. These files are then converted into .stl (stereolithography) format. The printer can understand regular CAD files. This .stl format is used for 3D printing, computer-aided manufacturing, and rapid PCB prototyping. When it comes to quick-turn PCB prototype assembly, additive manufacturing has a few advantages over traditional methods.

The obvious advantage is the manufacturing time saved. Whereas manufacturing complex PCBs takes several days or even weeks when using traditional PCB creation processes, in additive processes, this time can be reduced to hours.
Designers keen on the precise manufacture of their circuit designs are limited by traditional manufacturing techniques. They, therefore, have to compromise on their vision in multilayer PCBs, especially when it comes to things like trace design.

Additive manufacturing, on the other hand, breaks the shackles of planar design geometry.

Both individual PCBs and multiboard systems can be 3D printed in complex shapes and even in non-planar geometry -- including curves and varied thicknesses. The layer-by-layer printing process lets the PCB designer embed or mount components on the side of a non-planar substrate. It also allows unique interconnect vias:

Surveillance State' explores China's tech and social media control systems

During one of my last reporting trips in China, I booked my plane tickets on the drive to the airport. Instead of checking into a hotel, which in China requires turning in a passport scan that is sent straight to the local police, I decided to fly in as early as possible, finish all my reporting in the same day, and return that very night. To get more china tech news, you can visit shine news official website.

I randomly found a driver outside the airport — she even helpfully jumped into translate the beguiling local dialect for me. By nightfall, I was on a flight back to Beijing with all of my reporting safely stored on several microSD cards. Success, I thought.

The next morning, my contact called me in a panic. Several local officials had visited his home after our meeting and threatened him. I was disappointed, but also confused: How had China's security apparatus managed to track down my whereabouts so quickly?

Josh Chin's and Liza Lin's new book, Surveillance State: Inside China's Quest to Launch a New Era of Social Control, attempts to answer that question. The two veteran Wall Street Journal reporters spent years covering China's political and technological rise. They draw on that experience to untangle how China built its formidable digital surveillance apparatus (plot spoiler: in conjunction with American companies) and the often-erroneous assumptions that underpin its application, with disastrous consequences.Chin and Lin describe how authorities utilize a sophisticated national database linking identification documents, facial recognition data, fingerprints, and travel history (including, most likely, mine). A second, more powerful layer of scrutiny is China's vast network of CCTV cameras, whose footage is analyzed in real time by artificial intelligence software sold by a host of Chinese companies like Huawei, Sensetime, Megvii, and China Electronics Technology Group Corporation (CETC). Unconstrained by China's weak legal system and a nascent digital privacy code, China's tech giants and security apparatus are able to track phones, monitor online purchases, and decrypt messages.

The idea — pioneered by foundational Chinese scientific thinkers like Qian Xuesen — is that harnessing vast inputs of behavioral data can create predictive policing and safe, stable societies. With the reams of big data generated by China's more than one billion mobile internet users, that vision is now reality. The founder and chairman of e-commerce giant Alibaba, Jack Ma, is quoted in Surveillance State as saying during a 2015 talk attended by high-level security officials, "Whoever owns enough data and computing ability can predict problems, predict the future, and judge the future."

Government surveillance is difficult to uncover and understand because it is by nature secretive. In the absence of concrete facts (and add a tense geopolitical relationship between the U.S. and China to boot), less knowledgeable reporters might insert hyperbole or speculation. Chin and Lin do none of that, preferring instead to use real-world examples to illustrate both the mundane and dystopian applications of China's surveillance might.
One of the book's strongest traits is its unflinching analysis of how such big data approaches are being utilized not just by China, but by governments all around the world, including in the United States. China, the authors make clear, is not an exception in its embrace of a policing system fortified by video surveillance and artificial intelligence. Western companies including Intel, IBM, Seagate, Cisco and Sun Technologies are among those Chin and Lin examine the commercial relationships that helped make China's surveillance state technologically and financially viable.

China has undoubtedly unlocked an impressive, if chilling, achievement: absolute social control with relatively little of the unseemly and highly visible physical oppression seen in lower-tech authoritarian countries, such as Iran or Russia.

However, such control masks a disturbing level of systemic bias and outright inaccuracy baked into China's deeply penetrating digital surveillance systems. Some of the anecdotes Chin and Lin include are laughable. In one, a noted political dissident is visited by police after, out of boredom, he purchases a slingshot online; the officers suspect he has purchased the toy to take out the numerous CCTV cameras trained on his home.

Others stories are far more troubling. Chin and Lin tell the haunting tale of a Uyghur poet and filmmaker named Tahir Hamut Izgil, who now lives in the U.S. Hamut and his family describe having their blood, iris, fingerprints, and voice recordings collected by Xinjiang police, to be input into a biometric database. At least hundreds of thousands of their fellow Uyghurs have been detained or imprisoned, often on the basis of seemingly flimsy evidence such as usage of chat apps like Whatsapp; surveys filed by cadres sent to live with and report on Uyghur families; or are determined by blanket algorithms to indicate religious extremism.

Chinese President Xi Jinping Presses for Ag Tech Progress

Earlier this week, Reuters writers Dominique Patton, Roxanne Liu and Bernard Orr reported that, “President Xi Jinping wants China to accelerate efforts to achieve self-reliance in agricultural technology, identifying seed development and core equipment among areas to focus on, state media reported. To get more china technology news, you can visit shine news official website.

“The central leadership had said in 2020 that the country’s seed industry was a weak link in the food chain and needed to make better use of science and technology to achieve a turnaround.Meanwhile, Reuters writer Ana Mano reported last week that, “China is expected to end the year with historically low soymeal carryover stocks, which should increase dependence on imported soybeans in 2023, Victor Martins, senior risk manager at HedgePoint Global Markets, said Thursday.

“Brazilian soybeans, which are processed in China to make livestock feed, are currently more attractive than U.S. soybeans for February shipments, Martins said in an interview. And as the Chinese government continues to pare back Covid restrictions, Financial Times writer Thomas Hale reported on Monday that, “China will remove quarantine requirements for inbound travellers from January 8 as the country dismantles the remnants of a zero-Covid regime that closed it off from the rest of the world for almost three years.

“The National Health Commission on Monday unveiled the move as part of a wider announcement that downgraded the country’s management of Covid-19, a virus which is currently sweeping the nation, and definitively abandoned a host of other preventive measures.”Also Monday, Wall Street Journal writer Jonathan Cheng reported that, “Visits to three major hospitals in Beijing by the Journal on Monday showed the capital’s healthcare system now swamped with an influx of patients following the government’s about-face on Covid-19 controls, which has left many citizens, especially the elderly, scrambling to find treatment.”

And Bloomberg News reported on Monday that, “Since late November, when discontent with harsh Covid Zero rules boiled over and sparked protests in cities across the country, officials have rapidly dismantled many of their harshest pandemic measures. The speed of change has left health experts puzzled and residents scrambling to adjust to a new way of life that’s seen infections explode and made the border curbs — put in place to keep the virus out of China — increasingly irrelevant.”

“China’s abrupt U-turn on Covid Zero has upended economists’ and investors’ expectations, complicating estimates for how its policies will affect economic growth,” the Bloomberg article said.
