Doctor misled patients

A beautician was one of seven patients misled or treated inappropriately for facial or fat problems by a former Victorian doctor found guilty this week of unprofessional conduct.

A panel of the Medical Practitioners Board of Victoria found that Ronald Leopold Graydon Van Houten, 57, had raised unrealistic or false expectations in the four men and three women.

A businesswoman identified as Ms JJ said she paid $4200 for laser surgery that failed to remove moles and left her scarred after eyelid reconstruction.

Another woman paid $11,van cleef and arpels fake bracelet,300 for six treatments for the removal of facial and leg hair that grew back by the fourth treatment.

Dr Van Houten assured the woman, Ms LDG, that his treatment would achieve permanent hair removal. There was a 40 per cent improvement in her legs after eight treatments but her face was the same, van cleef arpels alhambra replica bracelet, if not worse.

In the panel's findings, the beautician's facial skin became red, swollen, cracked, peeled and broken when Dr Van Houten did laser surgery after a dye applied by a nurse was washed off.

A plastic and reconstructive surgeon said that Ms VM's cheeks and neck had multiple discontinuous pigmented areas "suggestive of a chemical burn".

The face of a patient, Mr DA, who saw Dr Van Houten for laser treatment for acne, became swollen with fluid oozing from it from a surgical therapy that was done at a deeper level than appropriate.

Mr KB, who sought the removal of facial hair, van cleef alhambra knock off bracelet, was "significantly misled" by Dr Van Houten while another patient, Mr GS, was told that one treatment would blow his moles "out of the water".

The panel found, however, van cleef and arpels bracelet knock off alhambra, that the moles were only partially treated and the patient suffered bleeding and scarring as a result of improper laser treatment.

The board found that a seventh patient who had an excessively fat abdomen received inappropriate and unsuccessful liposuction treatment.

Dr Van Houten stated in a letter to the board that he no longer did cosmetic surgery.

Chairman of the panel, John Clarebrough, said that had Dr Van Houten still been registered in Victoria, he would have been suspended for six months, reprimanded and ordered to undergo counselling and training for cosmetic surgery.
