A NEW LICENSED LEGO COLLECTIBLE MINIFIGURES SERIES IS COMING IN 2022!
As we wind up the year, LEGO fans are now beginning to turn their attention towards 2022, and LEGO’s VP of Design, Matthew Ashton has dropped a pretty huge teaser and clue for LEGO’s Collectible Minifigures in 2022!To get more news about Minifigures online, you can visit minifigureonline.com official website.
Matthew of course recently designed the Everyone is Awesome set, and oversees a large number of LEGO’s core themes such as LEGO City, Friends, Creator, Classic, Technic, Speed Champions, Monkie Kid, Ninjago and Collectible Minifigures. In a recent Instagram Q&A, Matthew was asked about his “dream” LEGO Minifigure license – where he remarked that one of his dream licenses is actually on the way for 2022, but he couldn’t say more for obvious reasons.
Oh, and for something a little more recent, Matthew has also teased a new set, featuring these white masonry bricks which will be revealed very, very soon! It’s time to start speculating feverishly, but it’s safe to infer that this is a new license from LEGO, and something they’ve never done in the LEGO Collectible Minifigures series, if this is his “dream license”.
My predictions? If I had to pick 3 predictions it would be… a Muppets or Sesame Street-themed series. It’s no secret that Matthew Ashton loves all classic pop culture, and LEGO have already invested heavily in head moulds from 2020’s excellent Sesame Street set.
Coupled with the insane variety and quality of moulds that we saw in 2021’s Looney Tunes series, I could definitely see LEGO introducing more Sesame Street or go full Muppets.
2022 is going to be a massive year for Sesame Street, as there is meant to be a star-studded live action adaption in development (which has gone quiet), so I can absolutely see LEGO seizing the timing and opportunity to release a Sesame Street series, which would be immensely popular.
I mean, what better way to introduce characters that were missing from the Ideas set such as The Count, Abby, Grover, Kermit and more?
I’m super excited as LEGO have really upped the ante with the LEGO Collectible Minifigures series in 2021, with the recent Marvel Studios Series, and Looney Tunes breaking new ground for what can be expected from the long-running LEGO Minifigures theme – I never thought we’d see a Marvel series, but here we are.
