Fortnite's map is constantly changing with Fortnite Items new developments and secret mysteries for players to discover, making the game more than just a simple shooter, but one full of"events" like players collecting together to see a rocket launch in the game, or see an interdimensional cube explode and reshape the map...all which occurs live in game.

Fortnite includes a $10 seasonal"battle pass" which asks players to finish challenges to unlock various alternate characters and costumes (skins) and other items, and this needs a whole lot of playtime to guarantee a player unlocks everything by the time a year ends and these items are no longer offered.

Fortnite's popularity is also just kind of a snowball effect. In college notably, so many kids play Fortnite that...they simply make all other children play buy fortnite weapons. It is popular in part because it's popular, if this makes sense.

Fortnite has created many gaming stars that players currently idolize, so kids are not only playing, they are watching"famous" players perform religiously. More on that a bit afterwards.
