The company also manufactures a wide range of galvanised-steel water tanks for a variety of horticultural uses, including rain-water harvesting; it also produces tanks for the rapidly expanding European fish-farming industry. Established in 1970, silo forming machine Brice-Baker has continuously developed its product range to meet the growing market demand for grain storage and grain-handling equipment. The company designs, manufactures, supplies and installs complete grain storage plants and counts Camgrain among its customers. The latter is the UK’s largest farmer-owned central storage business and has a total capacity of nearly 250,000 tonnes; Brice-Baker supplied not only the silos, but also conveyors and associated equipment.

The company’s silos — renowned for their robust construction and high galvanising standards — can be substantial structures. For example, its flat-bottom silos (for the shorth and long-term storage of grain, oil seeds and other granulated free-flowing materials) offer capacities up to 16,600m3 and can be up to 28m in diameter and 32.4m high. Meanwhile, its hopper-bottom silos (these provide temporary wet grain storage as part of a grain-drying plant and other ‘buffer bin’ applications in silo plants) can be up to 13m in diameter and 35m high.

Brice-Baker is an ambitious company and is gearing up to expand its business into Russia and eastern Europe over the next few years. This planned expansion is being supported by a multi-million-pound investment that will further modernise its production facilities and increase its manufacturing capacity. This investment includes the recent relocation to a new 5,000m2 bespoke manufacturing facility at Yate (near Bristol), as well as new production machinery that includes two Bradbury automated hydraulic rolling and forming machines and a Durma tandem press brake.

Supplied by Milton Keynes-based Axe & Status , which installed its first Durma tandem press brake in the UK some 18 months ago (at John Harvey Engineering, Ipswich), the tandem unit at Brice-Baker has an 8m 640-tonne capacity and replaces an ageing Rhodes folding press that took around 2hr to re-tool and re-set — a time that Brice-Baker process improvement manager Adrian White says is too long in today’s competitive manufacturing climate. The Durma tandem press brake installation, which weighs some 40 tonnes and follows the purchase of a Durma 3m (10mm) guillotine from Axe & Status last summer, comprises two Durma AD-S 40320 machines (each with a capacity of 4,050mm × 320 tonnes) and takes just 10min to re-tool and re-set.

Moreover, these two press brakes offer significant levels of flexibility and capacity improvements when it comes to manufacturing silo roof panels, because they can be operated as a single 8m unit or as two individual 4m press brakes running different jobs.

A maintenance kit is a set of replacement parts for a printer. Each printer has a preset maintenance interval, which occurs after a certain amount of pages are printed. The maintenance interval lets the user know that it’s time to install the maintenance kit so that the parts within the printer do not get overused.PAPER PICKUP ROLLER KIT

Every printer and manufacturer is different, so the parts included in the kit will also be different. Parts that may be included in a maintenance kit are the fuser assembly, transfer roller, pickup rollers, separation pads, corona assembly, fan assembly, cleaning cloths and gloves.
The fuser assembly is a pair of rollers that fuse the toner into the fibers of the paper. A transfer roller is an electrically-charged roller located underneath the toner cartridge. When the paper passes through the drum, it also passes through the roller which transfers toner onto the page. Pickup rollers, often called feed or separation rollers, are used to pickup the paper from the tray and feed it to the printer. Separation pads are made to assist the pickup rollers by applying tension so that the paper is pushed to the printer. When the separation pad is worn down, it cannot push the paper properly which causes paper jams.

The following parts are not as common in maintenance kits as the parts listed above, and again depend on the printer and manufacturer. A corona assembly in the printer is the part of the printer responsible for the electrical charges. The drum, toner and paper must all be charged in specific ways so that the drum can place the toner onto the paper correctly. The fan assembly within the printer gives off just enough air to keep the paper flat as it enters the printer. Finally, cleaning cloths and gloves are often included within the maintenance kit to ensure proper care of the inside parts.

It is important to pay attention to the maintenance interval in your printer. Ignoring the alerts can potentially cause serious wear to your printer. Maintaining the parts inside your printer avoids permanent damage and the need for replacement.

Printer manufacturers usually do not instruct or even encourage customers on how to refill a toner cartridge in hopes that you will simply buy a new replacement cartridge. However, adding toner to a laser printer on your own is an inexpensive and easy alternative to purchasing a new toner cartridge. Learn how to add toner to your cartridge to help save you money.Toner Chips for Photo Copiers

(This article is about the fancy integrated toner and drum cartridges for small laser printers and copiers. Big free-standing ones often take separate toner containers that could be refilled but may not be nearly as overpriced to begin.)
Purchase the proper type of toner powder that is compatible with your printer and its cartridge. Toner powders vary by grain size, chemical construction, and weight. That is precisely why only the compatible type of toner powder will work with your cartridge.
There are several types of toner, but not separate ones for every single printer model: most differ on features, not basic technology. In a pinch, a toner from a very similar model of printer will probably also work, but research or ask first. And if the seller hasn't promised compatibility, don't blame them in the unlikely but possible event it doesn't work properly or even damages the printer. (The risk may well be worthwhile for an obsolescent printer otherwise needing replacement or an expensive original equipment manufacturer cartridge.)
Toner is messy: prepare your workspace! Place paper towels or newspapers on a flat surface to protect your workspace in case you spill toner powder. Put on rubber gloves if you want to make sure you do not get powder on your hands.
If you're going to need to use a "burn tool" (a soldering-iron like device for melting holes in plastic), work over a heavy, hard to burn surface such as a plate to not scorch your table directly or through a few sheets of paper.
Wash and dry your hands (or the gloves) often when working with toner to keep other things clean. It's not dangerous, but it can stain.
Locate the holding tank on your toner cartridge. This is a relatively featureless wide compartment where you will need to refill toner powder. Check to see if the holding tank has an existing fill hole or not. Some cartridges already have a fill hole stopped up with a plastic plug that you can easily remove.
Other cartridges require that you make your own fill hole, and corresponding toner refill kits typically come with a burn tool and heavy-duty aluminum "flue tape" to close up the hole after you finish refilling a toner cartridge. Follow the instructions provided with the toner refill kit if you are required to use a burn tool. The instructions will show you where and how to burn the hole.
In a pinch an ordinary small electric soldering iron can suffice as a burn tool. But things will get messy as you will have to melt and burn away all the unwanted plastic, rather than melt only the edges of a hole through it with the special tool.
If the "burn tool" has a tip screwed on, make sure it's screwed on tight for efficient heating, before you heat it up (or after you let it cool).
Just make a hole into the holding tank big enough to admit the toner bottle nozzle. Do not stab so far in as to damage other parts from behind.
If you raise a lip of melted plastic around the hole, trim or melt it off (you may need to periodically and carefully wipe the tool tip) to ensure tape will fit well around the hole to seal it and not be vulnerable to bumps, and to ensure that the cartridge will still fit well into the printer. This is especially important for cheap color laser printers' cartridges, whose entire bodies are rotated inside the printer to each line up in turn with the printer's imaging system for each page--a process which can dislodge stray tape.

No one wants to pay full price for anything—especially for printer ink cartridges. That’s why many consumers turn to third-party printer ink cartridges, or aftermarket inks.

In Consumer Reports' most recent annual printer survey, 37 percent of respondents said they have tried third-party printer Copier Toner Kit, which can cost much less than name-brand products. It’s easy to see the appeal of third-party ink: Ink for some printers can end up costing almost $700 over five years, according to CR's calculations.Third-party printer ink was in the news this spring when the Supreme Court ruled in Impression Products, Inc. v. Lexmark International, Inc. that third-party companies could refill toner cartridges originally sold by a printer manufacturer.

Lexmark had argued that Impression was violating Lexmark patents by refilling and reselling such cartridges. Neither company would comment on the lawsuit. And Lexmark, HP, Epson, and Impression Products did not agree to discuss ink prices with Consumer Reports.

“We believe this is a positive step for competition, innovation, and consumer choice,” says Jessica Rich, Consumer Reports’ vice president for consumer policy and mobilization. “It’s a win for consumers and small businesses.”

However, although many consumers like third-party printer inks, the products don’t always work well, according to Consumer Reports’ testers. Here’s what you should know before buying third-party ink cartridges:n CR's printers survey, 63 percent of respondents who used aftermarket cartridges say they’re just as good as name-brand cartridges, while 36 percent think they’re not up to par.

Rich Sulin, who leads CR’s printer-testing program, says that some samples worked without any problems but that other samples of the same products “set off warning messages from their printer or failed to print a test page.” Additionally, he says, “some aftermarket inks worked initially but quickly clogged printer heads.”

Sulin says to make sure the vendor provides a money-back guarantee, and he advises you to use the ink or toner as soon as possible after a purchase.

Consumer Reports doesn't rate third-party inks because the marketplace is so fractured—a large number of manufacturers offer a rapidly changing lineup of products for different printer models, making comparisons difficult.
