Connect with a VPN before logging in to Facebook!
It is clear that Facebook currently is one of the most popular social media platforms: literally 1.7 billion people have an account. But this size brings also a number of disadvantages with it, as well as risks against which you’d better protect yourself as a user.

To what extent are Facebook data really private and what can you do in order to improve your online safety and privacy via the platform? These are questions that require a clear answer.

Social media know more than you think
The platform is, besides a social media platform, also simply a breeding ground of information about the users. Whether they are shared with others via chat, or they simply stay on your profile as supplementary information, the data is visible and thus also not protected.

But social madia also keep track of other data. This way, it is always known which pages exactly you like, what you have shared, etc. On the basis of these, the platform knows what are your interests are and what you are involved in. Even if you aren’t logged in anymore, the platform still follows you. Cookies that collect information about your behavior on the Internet always end up on your computer, tablet, or smartphone.

Why and how the platform uses personal information
As soon as certain information about your interests and purchases has been gathered, the ads that you get to see on the platform are also adapted to it. Facebook has quite a few sources of income, but placing ads is the largest one. This is also why the platform can afford to be free of charge. If you have searched information about a new car the past few days, then you may well promptly get to see ads that correspond to this.

Getting back at social media with a VPN connection
Although the way Facebook (and also quite a few other social media and search engines such as Google) works is indeed legal, it is of course not nice knowing that you are always being followed. You are never really sure anymore about privacy and online security because who knows which personal data they have?

Getting ads to see is annoying, to say the least, and in the worst case, an invasion of privacy. Many people look for ways to circumvent this and choosing a VPN is undoubtedly the best measure you can take. A VPN, or virtual private network, gives you the option to go “underground” as a user of the Internet, by which your browsing data and history remain hidden, so to speak.

What exactly does a VPN connection do?
A VPN connection actually uses already existing Internet connections but encrypts the data that you send via your connection. This way, even hackers can’t do anything with it, because, even they intercept this information, they can’t figure out the encryption.

A VPN connection actually hides your real Internet address (your IP address), by which your online identity remains unknown. Also your geographic location remains anonymous, so government authorities and hackers can’t know where exactly you are. In this way, also no ads can be placed on the basis of your searches on the Internet: this information is simply unknown.

Whether you’re a year abroad studying or you are traveling for a period of time to, there are certain times when you would like to call home. Skype is a very popular method for this and the term “I’ll Skype you soon” has become such a standard into our vocabulary that the popularity of Skype does not need any additional selling points.
Unfortunately, Skyping is not possible in every country, because there are certain countries or regions that have blocked these servers for internet users in that country. This can be quite frustrating when you find out that often alternative methods of communicating with the home front are also blocked. But why is it banned in some countries? Also read: How to unblock your Skype?
Commercial reasons
In the majority of cases, the blocking of the free telephone service a commercial reason. In most countries in Central and South America it is blocked because at the same time, the ISPs in those countries are also the provider of telephone services. And considering it is a way to make free calls worldwide, makes it direct competition. In order to prevent a loss of income they just block it.
Legal reasons
In countries like Egypt, there is another reason why the program is blocked. The online phone service is known for the fact that they are independent and they promote a “no phone tracking” policy. In other words, your call can not be traced. In Egypt, on the other hand they have an official rule in which they block everything that cannot be traced or monitored. Including Skype.
Skype too expensive for the country
In Cuba, on the other hand there is a poor internet infrastructure and computer access is very minimal. The expensive cost for the country to have Skype is not interesting enough because of the slow internet.
Bypassing blocks
Don’t just give up because you’re in a country which geographically blocks Skype. Using a VPN or virtual private network can quite easily circumvent the block and still skype with your family or friends. Such a private connection ensures a safe, encrypted internet connection without a location restriction. You can choose from a long list of servers located in the US or in Europe. Prevent Facebook from finding out everything about you: make use of a VPN connection
Facebook is immensely popular. In August 2016, Facebook had an estimate of 1.71 billion users. When creating an account, you dutifully fill out your name, address, date of birth and other information. But do you realize that Facebook knows much more about you than just the data you gave them?

What Facebook knows about you
Facebook accurately keeps track of the pages you have liked and what you’ve shared. From this, Facebook can learn what your interests are, what you like, what you like to do. But even when you are logged out, Facebook follows you. After all, Facebook places cookies on your PC, smartphone or tablet. These cookies collect information about your surfing behavior on the web. When you are looking for a certain product that you want to buy, and you visit multiple websites about this product, Facebook will know.

What happens with this information?
The information that Facebook has collected about you is used for targeted advertisements on your Facebook page. Advertising is for Facebook the biggest source of income, and this is why this social medium can offer its services for free to its users. So do not be surprised when you suddenly see ads about cars on your Facebook page, if you have surfed on car websites a lot lately.

How to remain a step ahead of Facebook
What Facebook does (and Google too, by the way), is fully legal. The only way to avoid that websites collect so much data about you, is by going online “underground”. The use of a VPN, which stands for virtual private network, is the ideal way to protect your privacy. A VPN connection makes use of the existing Internet connections, but the data you send is encrypted. Even if a hacker can intercept the submitted data, he won’t be able to understand the encoded information. Because a VPN connection hides your true Internet address (the so-called IP address), your identity remains unknown. Even the geographical location where you are, can not be traced. So you can browse as many websites as you want, Facebook can not collect information about your surfing behavior.

Other advantages of a VPN connection
Because people do not know your location when you use a VPN connection, you can pretend to be from another country. This has its advantages when you want to visit websites of which the content is not fully available in your country. With a VPN connection you can thus watch the full American offer of Netflix online, which is normally only possible in the United States. Also read: Lift a geographical block with a VPN services.

What are the advantages of a VPN provider?
You have a PC or a laptop and you also make use of Internet services on your smartphone or tablet. You are probably a user who knows about the possibilities as well as the threats of the online world. You do not take any irresponsible risks, but you don’t let them make you go crazy, either. You might not know the actual detailed technical aspects, but you don’t need to. You are capable of assessing the importance of security measurements and what to do with them. At home, you indeed have a good WiFi network, protected with an access code. You have good security software and you carefully install all necessary updates.
Does this image seem correct? Then you should continue reading.
Have you ever thought of a Virtual Private Network?
At home you make use of your private network, protected and secured. But if you regularly make use of a public network, then you know you are in fact taking risks. And the risks do not outweigh the ease of use of WiFi in public spaces that is easily accessible for everyone. In fact, smart hackers have a much easier time accessing your personal data on such a public network, or your business information, if your laptop is a company laptop. Is it sensible to take such a risk? For a small monthly fee you can avoid these risks and you will get a lot of additional benefits in return, not only in the area of much more improved security. This is what a virtual private network can offer you. We will gladly exemplify.
How does it work?
Through a Virtual Private Network you, as a user, get access to a public network, but it will be done so through a secured server. In addition, the information that you transmit is encrypted through means of encryption protocols, making it basically secret code. Should someone break into your laptop through a public network, he can’t do anything with your information, because he doesn’t know how to decrypt the secret code. So, you will profit off of the availability of a public network, but you will be fully protected. You can even choose to operate fully anonymously. What you do, after you have logged in to a public network, is creating a connection with your VPN server through your network software and then you can simply do the things you want to do, but it will be done using secret code through a secured connection.
The advantages of a VPN, especially for the private user
Those who want to work fully anonymously, can choose to not reveal the location of their Virtual Private Network, and the IP address can also remain hidden. Based on your IP address, smart hackers can find out what websites you have visited and what data you have downloaded. This means they will have to know your IP address. Are you the kind of person to make the decision yourself what you look for on the web, and are you not looking for agencies to decide what sites you can and can not visit? With a Virtual Private Network, you can circumvent blocked sites. You are in charge and you are wise enough to decide where you get your information from. No one needs to know what sites you visit. You do not want websites to place unwanted cookies and tracker software on your laptop. With the right settings on your Virtual Private Network, you can prevent this.
Advantages of a VPN for business users
If you work for a company with multiple locations, that exchange a lot of competition sensitive data, then it is important for this to happen in a manner that is as secure as possible. This type of data represents concrete money and often a large size. A Virtual Private Network as additional security between the different locations, ensuring that your sensitive data can be shared in a safe manner, give you a peace of mind and it definitely pays off. Through your secured network, you can choose to encrypt your data for additional assurance.VPN download

Freelancers are their own bosses and generate an income by realizing various projects for clients. This comes with many advantages, such as having your own planning, being able to work anywhere in the world with a lot of diversity due to the project-based manner of working. These projects are very valuable, because when a freelancer is not able to successfully complete them, he or she will not have an income. But this also has other consequences; the freelancer not only has their own data to worry about, but also the data of their clients. This is a valid reason to make sure to protect this data well. Read more about the benefits of a VPN for freelancers.

Risk for freelancers
Because freelancers are so flexible, they often work in various places within the secure digital environment that an employer would offer. Also, chances are that they are making use of a public WiFi network, for example at an airport or at a coffee shop. Luckily the freelancer can also take steps to protect their own data – and the data of the clients, and one of the most effective ways to do this is by means of an encrypted VPN connection.

Virtual Private Network
The easiest way to secure your data is by using an encrypted VPN connection (virtual private network). It doesn’t matter whether you are working at home, on the road or somewhere on a public WiFi network: the VPN will secure your data and online activities. However, even if you use a good VPN plugin, it is discouraged to make use of public WiFi networks and hotspots, because they are very vulnerable for hackers and viruses.

VPN for freelancers
Because you are not working at your client’s office, you will have to make use of a credit card or Internet banking. When doing this, always make sure that these transactions are completed when you have a VPN connection. Additionally the site must also be protected with https (in which case you’ll see a lock next to the web address), because without this security hackers can easily retrieve your financial data.

Other measures
As a freelancers you are technically an entrepreneur, which means you are fully responsible for your business. This is why it can be wise to also take other measures in addition to the VPN connection, such as having an end-to-end encryption (done) of your data. You can also opt to invest in backup solutions and it is recommended to always keep your software up to date. VPN download

As Jewelry Shopping Guide editors, we write about things that we love and we think you'll like too. We often have affiliate partnerships, and may generate some revenue from these links at no cost to you.blue Tungsten Rings mens

In recent years, tungsten has become one of the most popular metals for wedding bands. It is a stylish, affordable choice for modern wedding band designs, with excellent wearability. However, not many people know what tungsten is or whether it suits their purposes. Here we break down the facts, pros, cons and myths of tungsten so you can decide if this is the right metal for you.
Tungsten, also known as wolfram, is a chemical element found on the periodic table. It gets its name from a Swedish phrase meaning ‘heavy stone’, indicative of the metal’s weight and strength. Tungsten is often described using superlatives. Here are some:
Tungsten vs. Tungsten Carbide

Although often used interchangeably, there are differences between these two terms. Tungsten in its pure form cannot be used in jewelry. Instead, it is formed into a metal, consisting of approximately 85% tungsten and 15% carbon, nickel or cobalt which is known as tungsten carbide.

Because tungsten is very brittle, mixing it with carbon reduces this characteristic, making the metal more durable and easier to work with. The nickel or cobalt acts as a binder, holding the metal together and making it possible to shape it.

Tungsten carbide with a nickel binder is considered top quality and ideal for wedding bands. However, tungsten carbide with cobalt as a binder is not recommended for jewelry as the cobalt, which tends to react with body oils, can cause skin irritations and staining.

As we’ve just mentioned, tungsten carbide contains carbon. Tungsten without carbon is just a steel ring, with a Mohs of 7.5. It can still get scratched and damaged. However, when carbon is added into the mix to create carbide, the resulting metal becomes extremely tough and durable.

The school was founded in 1994. IST uses the IB PYP (IB Primary Years Programme) until grade 5, IB MYP (IB Middle Years Programme) until grade 10 and the IB DP (IB Diploma Programme) from grades 11 to 12. The school provides education from Nursery to grade 12.international school in Tianjin

The International School of Tianjin offers various services for the safety and well-being of students. These include a 24-hour guard and security service, a fleet of buses offering transportation services for students and staff, a fully operational school clinic staffed by a full-time nurse and a school cafeteria service operated by one of the premier international catering companies called Chartwells. Please click on the links above for a more detailed explanation of each of these services.

Student and Campus Safety
IST has a 24-hour guard and security company contracted to secure the school premises and maintain a vigil on people entering the school campus and grounds. The guards are well-trained and monitor the security and safety of the campus round the clock.

In order to ensure that your children are safe and accounted for at all times, IST does not allow students to leave the campus during school hours unless accompanied by a teacher, as well as having obtained a signed parental permission slip. Students will only be allowed to leave the school with parents or the student’s registered driver if a letter of authorization is received from the student’s parents, and permission is granted by the director or relevant principal.

IST also keeps daily records of student absences in order to more closely monitor attendance patterns and in an effort to determine if a student is, in fact, absent. Should a student be absent when the class attendance register is taken, the school office will telephone the student’s parents in an effort to determine the reason for the failure to arrive.

TIANJIN, China – The school year at Haileybury College's campus outside Beijing began with three People's Liberation Army soldiers marching on a running track as the Chinese national anthem played over loudspeakers. Seven hundred students stood silently in single-file lines, their hands crossed, the international prep school's crest emblazoned on many of their coats and T-shirts.Tianjin international school

Then they sang the school song in English before heading off to class in brick-facade buildings modeled on a British prep school. For most Chinese students, attending a school like this remains unthinkable. But international schools from abroad are booming here thanks to growing demand from parents who are seeking different pathways for their children to attend college overseas, and who can increasingly afford more options. Top prep schools from around the world are opening campuses in the country, often charging higher fees than their flagships and catering to students who want to go to university in the West.Attending Haileybury costs up to $28,000 a year. But Haileybury, which opened the Chinese version of its century-old Australian prep school three years ago, nearly doubled its enrollment this year and is considering opening a second campus in China.

Getting into China's best public high schools can be monumentally difficult, but regardless of whether their child has the academic chops, many parents are opting to pay for what they see as a less stressful and more enriching experience at an international school."What they really care about is the happiness of their children," said Wang Dan, an education professor at the University of Hong Kong. "Their future return on the student's education is one concern, but equally important is the concern for the learning process."

The International School Consultancy, which monitors school trends worldwide, says the demand among Chinese for English-language schools like Haileybury is "insatiable." More than 150,000 Chinese students are currently enrolled in international schools, according to the consultancy, which says the number of Chinese who can afford to pay seemingly stratospheric fees for those schools — even if it's just a small percentage of the country's population — will continue to grow, absent a dramatic downturn in China's economy.

China's top public high schools are intensely competitive and often criticized as excessively test-driven. Before their teenage years, children study long hours for entrance exams, often with high-priced private tutors. And at the end of high school, students take the notoriously difficult Chinese college entrance exam, the Gaokao, where a bad score can relegate a good student to a lesser university.

A massive government-ordered expansion of higher education over the last decade has produced many marginal colleges whose degrees count for little. That makes an overseas education even more attractive.Western prep schools in China advertise a smoother pathway to university overseas, with teaching that emphasizes critical thinking over memorization and classes based on the International Baccalaureate program or others recognized abroad.

Once limited mainly to foreign children, international schools have been allowed during the last two decades to open campuses for Chinese students jointly with local companies. And while the Chinese government has sought to tighten its ideological control over textbooks and limit perceived Western influences, the international schools offer a valuable infusion of new teaching methods and options for China's middle class. That opening has brought in some of the world's biggest brand names, joining long-established international schools in Beijing and Shanghai. Britain's Dulwich College now runs schools for Chinese students in the eastern city of Suzhou and the southern city of Zhuhai; Britain's Hurtwood House operates in association with a school in eastern Ningbo.

William Vanbergen, managing director of the Shanghai school consulting firm BE Education, predicts many more Western schools will enter China in the coming years. Some schools are already struggling to maintain their enrollment, but for most, China presents a "fantastic opportunity" to build a global profile, he said."Chinese parents are very smart," Vanbergen said. "They demand the very best, and it's going to become quite clear which operations are good and which are not."

Haileybury established its first program in China in 2001. Nick Dwyer, the school CEO, said the school's executives had long been seeking a local company with which to partner on its own campus."It's a tough ask for any student to go as a foreign student to another country," Dwyer said. "Here, we are offering the Australian product tailored in such a way that the Chinese students are at the center of the project, not off to one side."

Eventually, the school reached a deal with a state-owned development company to build a tree-lined campus between Beijing and the port city of Tianjin, featuring a towering administration building with two turrets that's a replica of London's Eton College prep school. The campus anchors a development of high-rise residential towers and single-family homes. Haileybury leases the campus and charges higher tuition in China than in Australia.

Dwyer described the school as Australian in its traditions, presented "in Chinese dress." Teachers give lessons in both English and Chinese, and events like its opening ceremony are adaptations of Australian assemblies. Hallways are marked as "English-speaking zones." The school offers a modified version of the standard Chinese curriculum until high school levels, and then classes based on Australia's Victoria Certificate of Education.

Haileybury's first class of about 25 students graduates this fall. Their success will be a huge test for the school, Dwyer said. For the school to be successful, he said, every graduate must be admitted into college or a prep school en route to college.

"Most of them must get a pathway into university, and the rest of them must get a pathway that they will transition into university," Dwyer said. But already, Haileybury is successfully recruiting new families and moving toward profitability. Dwyer said he expects to break even this year.

Cheng Rui, a marketing consultant in Beijing, was touring Haileybury last month with his 9-year-old son. Cheng had enrolled his son previously in a bilingual program sponsored by a top Chinese university. But he saw his son feeling constant pressure and not being able to communicate with foreigners on a family vacation to the United States and Canada, despite having taken English classes in school.

"It will be more enriching and distinctive for him in terms of developing his interests, and he will be under less pressure than students at traditional Chinese schools," Cheng said."I wish to see him develop at his own pace," he added. While China's economic boom has allowed millions of families to afford options like Haileybury, international schools remain out of reach for the vast majority of Chinese.

Zeng Xiaodong, a professor at Beijing Normal University, said she understood that parents who could afford those schools were seeking a pathway for their children "to understand the future and be a member of the international world." But those options remain closed to rural families and don't solve the inequity of the overall system, she said.
