men's curling championship

John Morris loves playing at the Vancouver Curling Club. title on Sunday, skipping his Vernon/Kelowna rink to a dominating 11 2 win over Jason Montgomery of replica Van Cleef & Arpels clover white gold Duncan at the VCC. champion Jim Cotter and a front end of Rick Sawatsky and Tyrell Griffith, went 6 0 for the week.

In fact, the 34 year old has never lost a game at the VCC. He went 11 0 in the 2010 Olympics at the facility at Hillcrest Park as Martin's third.

"Yeah, I have a pretty good record here," said van cleef necklace replica a grinning Morris after the win that propelled his rink to the 2014 Brier at Kamloops early next month.

"It's amazing. Some arenas you just get that feel and this is one of them. You get that good feel and things seem to go your way. I wish we could play every game of the year here."

Kamloops won't be bad either. rinks at the Brier in 2011 and 2012, was born and grew up in the Interior city before relocated to Vernon. Sawatsky and Griffith are from Kelowna.

"I think back to the last Brier (in Kamloops) in '96 when Barry McPhie (of Kamloops) represented the province.

"It's always fun playing in front of a home crowd and we're going to give them something to cheer for," said Morris. "I think we've got a dynamite chance. It's going to be a special Brier."

Morris breezed through the first three games at the provincials winning games 9 3, 8 1 and 7 2 before needing to score two in the 10th to beat Neil Dangerfield of Victoria in the A event final and four in the 10th against Brent Pierce of Royal City in the Page Playoff No. 1 vs. No. 2 game.

"Oh yeah, those tight ones like that are needed," said Morris. "When you have tight games, you get tougher shots and when you get up quite a bit you van cleef clover necklace replica play a lot of peels and don't get a feel for the rocks and the finesse of the ice.

"It was important to have a few games that were real tight."

Sunday's game wasn't even close.

After Jody Epp, who throws fourth stones for Montgomery, was a little inside on a freeze attempt with his last rock in the first, Cotter drew to the four foot with his last to count three.

Epp then failed to hit and stick with his final rock of the second and scored just one. When Cotter made a nice soft takeout in the third with his final rock to score two, it was all but over.

Morris stole one in the fourth and scored four in the seventh to salt it away.

The Morris Cotter pairing has proved to be hugely successful.

"I played against Jim and his team for a long time . . . and I saw the potential these guys have and the dynamic that could be there. Even when we played against each other, we'd go up in the lounge after and have a cold one and talk sports.

"Sometimes you just mesh with certain people . . . and Jim and I were like that and I knew we'd be a good back end combo if we could harness that good positive energy and use that to our advantage."
