ST. Malik McDowell Youth Jersey . PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Andrew Miller threw a force attempt at second base into centre field, allowing pinch-runner Cole Figueroa to score in the bottom of the 15th inning as the Tampa Bay Rays handed the Boston Red Sox their ninth consecutive loss, 6-5 Saturday. Boston scored five runs in the first inning but still lost its ninth in a row for the first time since Aug. 25-Sept. 4, 2001. James Loney opened the 15th with a single off Miller (1-4). Figueroa ran for Loney and went to second on Brandon Guyers bunt single. He scored when Miller threw the ball into centre field while attempting to get a double play on Desmond Jennings grounder. Cesar Ramos (2-3) allowed an infield single and two walks in three scoreless innings for the win. Five Tampa Bay pitchers limited Boston to six hits, with just two coming after the first inning. A.J. Pierzynski homered for the Red Sox in a game that took 5 hours, 16 minutes. Matt Joyce had an RBI single and Guyer drove in two with a double off Jake Peavy in the fifth as the Rays rallied from a five-run deficit to tie it at 5. Logan Forsythe had a second-inning sacrifice fly and an RBI single during the fourth. The struggling Boston offence broke out against David Price. After Mike Carp was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and Jonny Gomes had a sacrifice fly, Pierzynski connected on a three-run homer. Boston, which scored just 16 runs in its previous eight games, had just two baserunners -- Gomes walk in the third and an eighth-inning single by Xander Bogaerts -- over the next seven innings against Price, who allowed five runs and five hits in eight innings. Bogaerts left the game due to right hamstring cramps and was replaced defensively at shortstop by Jonathan Herrera in the 11th. Peavy gave up five runs and eight hits over six innings. The Red Sox used a makeshift lineup with David Ortiz, Mike Napoli and Shane Victorino all out with injuries. Saturday was a planned off day for Ortiz, who has calf soreness. Napoli could sit out a few games due to lingering affects of flu-like symptoms along with hamstring, calf and finger issues. Victorino was placed on the 15-day disabled list after aggravating a right hamstring injury running to first base in the ninth inning of Fridays 1-0 loss to the Rays. Ortiz hit a grounder pinch-hitting in the 10th. NOTES: Boston recalled OF Daniel Nava from Triple-A Pawtucket. Torontos Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier of Unionville, Ont., were 10th with 59.42 points. Javier Fernandez of Spain was third with 275.93. "That was very close," Hanyu said. "I work hard to become a skater who can always end with strong performances. I felt the responsibility to win the event." Hanyu fell twice during the free skate at the Sochi Olympics but had no falls on Friday. Machida captured his first major medal with a graceful performance to Stravinskis "Firebird." "I showed everything I have at this moment," Machida said. "I tried to perform without caring about the score or ranking but it got into my head and I had a really tough four minutes." Fernandez, who was fourth in Sochi, was deducted points when he singled a planned triple lutz. "I popped the triple lutz," Fernandez said. "And I didnt do my quad salchow triple toeloop combination, but still it was a good program even though Yuzuru did better than me." Maxim Kotvun of Russia was fourth followed by Jeremy Abbott of the United States. Canadian Patrick Chan, who had won the last three world titles, decided to skip this years competition. Kevin Reynolds of Coquitlam, B.C., was the top Canadian in 11th place. Its been a tough season for Reynolds, who struggled with ill-fitting skates for several months. "The whole season was a giant learning experience, and I can take from that knowing I can still skate my best even though Im not feeling even close to where Id like to be in terms of being comfortable and being ready, being prepared," said Reynolds. "What I can take away from this is that even if Im not feeling 100 per cent, I know that I can still do the job, and that should give me confidence when I do feel good." World junior champion Nam Nguyen of Toronto was 12th while Elladj Balde of Pierrefonds, Que., was 18th. "Skating in front of 20,000 plus people, its amazing," said the 15-year-old Nguyen. Delegates at a U.N. Human Rights Council panel reviewing Qatars record on Wednesday repeatedly raised concerns about exploitation of workers in construction and domestic households. Several of 84 states speaking in the session linked Qatar hosting the 2022 World Cup with the need to reform its laws. "There are widespread reports of violations of the rights of migrant workers, especially in the context of preparations for the 2022 FIFA World Cup," the Ireland delegation said in a statement. Recommendations, which are not binding, included scrapping exit visas which can prevent immigrant workers leaving, and giving legal protection against what Belgium said was "persistence of violence against women and girls." Qatars assistant foreign minister, Sheik Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, said there had been "some helpful recommendations from different countries." "We recognize that there are certain issues and challenges we are facing about the migrant workers," the minister told The Associated Press after the three-hour meeting. "We think the World Cup is a catalyst for us to help us accelerate our performance." Qatari authorities are preparing to announce some changes within weeks, after a review of their labour laws. "We will come, I think, very soon within the current month with an overall work program," Sheik Mohammed said. The minister opened the panel meeting outlining progress made enacting recommendations — including measures to combat human trafficking and protect women and children from domestic violence — since a previous four-yearly review in 2010. The International Trade Union Confederation and rights groups have criticized Qatar for slow adoption of laws to protect non-Qatari nationals, and failure to enforce existing laws properly. With the World Cup expected to kick off in November 2022, Qatar faces two further U.N. human rights reviews before matches start. Vancouver Canucks Hats. Spain led calls on Wednesday to "strike from the books" the "kafala" sponsorship system which gives employers veto power over workers leaving their job or going home. The Netherlands called for Qatar to make adequate labour conditions "an important criterion for granting building contracts" and to blacklist contractors who violated rules. The Qatari minister called for understanding of the emirates issues handling an influx of foreign workers — comprising 85 per cent of a resident population of around 2 million — during its rapid growth. "There are some challenges with the current laws," Sheik Mohammed acknowledged. "In order to have partners in this development, we need the flow of ex-pat workers who are coming to work for us and helping us." Still, many U.N. member states on Wednesday expressed concern for migrant domestic staff who will be required in Qatari households after the construction boom. Belgium urged Qatar to assure women they could complain "without fear of reprisal or harassment" by their employers. Spain noted that marital rape is not a crime in Qatar, and the Czech Republic recommended criminalizing all violence against women. "We are encouraging them if there is any problem to report it and we have put the mechanisms in place," the Qatari minister told the AP. "This is a freedom which is granted by the government." France led recommendations that Qatari women who married foreign men be allowed to pass on their nationality to their children. Amid widespread requests to ensure freedom of expression and protest in Qatar, the United States recommended that the government release all prisoners of conscience including poet Muhammad ibn al-Dheeb al-Ajami. He is serving a 15-year jail term for writing verses judged offensive to the former Emir. A report reviewing Qatars progress will be adopted Friday, and is scheduled to be considered at a session of the 47-nation Human Rights Council in September. NEW YORK -- Ben Scrivens made 37 saves in his second consecutive shutout, and Tyler Toffolis second-period goal held up as the winner as the Los Angeles Kings completed a successful Eastern road trip with a 1-0 victory over the New York Rangers on Sunday night. Jourdan Lewis Womens Jersey . Dominic Moore thought he tied it with 2:41 remaining, but the goal was disallowed because he kicked it in with his right skate. Scrivens, filling in for injured regular Jonathan Quick, followed up a blanking of the New Jersey Devils on Friday with one against the Rangers. Los Angeles went 3-0-1 on the trip, winning the final three games. Scrivens has gone 156 minutes, 2 seconds without allowing a goal over three games since Aaron Ness of the New York Islanders scored in the second period of the Kings 3-2 win on Thursday. Los Angeles is 5-0-1 in its last six. Henrik Lundqvist stopped 29 shots in the hard-luck loss. The Rangers, 7-3 in their last 10, failed to follow up on their 1-0 win at Montreal on Saturday with backup Cam Talbot in net. New York dropped its second straight at home. Scrivens best stop came six minutes into the third period when his right arm stopped Mats Zuccarellos shot off a rebound in front. Toffoli broke the scoreless deadlock 1:23 into the second period with his fourth goal in just seven NHL games this season. Toffoli, who netted the winning goal late in regulation against the Islanders, cashed in again with some help from the Rangers. The 21-year-old centre spun and fired a shot from above the circles. Lundqvist slid to his right to get into position to make the save, but the puck hit the skate of New York defenceman Anton Stralman and caromed to Lundqvists left and into the vacated part of the net. Lundqvist thrust backward in the crease in disbelief and disgust as the Kings celebrated. The Kings needed a break to get a puck past Lundqvist, who appeared sharp after getting a game off. He kept the Rangers in it as Los Angeles held a 10-2 shots edge in the first half of the second period. During an extended flurry in front, Lundqvist made several in-close saves and was bailed out when one drive struck the left post behind him. The Rangers certainly had their chances at the other end against Scrivens, but he was also up to the task. New York had back-to-back scoring opportunities while short-handed, including a 2-on-1 break that failed to produce a shot. Then the Kings were called for three consecutive penalties midway through the second -- including a call for too many men on the ice and another for delay of game -- but New York couldnt take advantage despite having a pair of abbreviated 5-on-3 power plays. The Rangers goal at Montreal on Saturday was scored during a 5-on-3 advantage. NOTES: Scrivens has three shutouts this season and five in three NHL seasons. ... Toffoli has eight points and three game-winning goals. ... Rangers D Michael Del Zotto was a healthy scratch for the second straight game. New York went with 6-foot-5 defenceman Justin Falk against the big Kings lineup. ... New York LW Rick Nash missed his 17th game due to a concussion but is eyeing a return in the upcoming week. ... New York RW Derek Dorsett played in his 300th NHL game. ... Mike Richards, who assisted on Toffolis goal, has 10 points in seven games and 13 in 12 contests. Jourdan Lewis Cowboys Jersey .ca. Venable, the son of former big leaguer Max Venable, will make $4.EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. - When the New York Giants drafted Andre Williams in the fourth round in May, the move was seen as an insurance policy at running back.David Wilson was coming off neck surgery and the veteran Rashad Jennings had been signed as a free agent in the off-season.Heading into Philadelphia on Sunday night for a crucial NFL East game against the Eagles (4-1), the insurance policy has been the Giants (3-2) main running threat.Wilson retired with a neck injury and Jennings is probably not going to play this weekend after spraining his left knee in the win over Atlanta on Sunday. That leaves Williams as the starter and veteran Peyton Hillis as his backup. Michael Cox is now No. 3 after being signed off the practice squad. He is ready, Jennings said of Williams. Its his time and I am excited to watch him play. The Giants have run the ball exceptionally well this season, averaging 121 yards. Jennings has been the workhorse, gaining 396 on 91 carries. Williams has 171 yards on 54 attempts, a 3.1 yard average.Williams did everything right in college, yet somehow didnt get drafted until the fourth round. He broke Boston Colleges career rushing record with 3,754 yards and he became the first NCAA FBS player for rush for more than 2,000 since 2007 when he gained 2,177 yards last season on 355 carries, a 6.1 yard average.Ive had a couple games with success now, said Williams, who had a team-high 65 yards on 20 carries against the Falcons. The guys are rallying behind me, the O-line is making me feel comfortable. Were just getting better and gelling better as a group, so Im confident going into next week.Offensive co-ordinator Ben McAdoo has no hesitation using Williams, especially after watching him pick up tough yards at the end of recent games. He is an aggressive guy, McAdoo said Thursday after practice. He is the same guy we saw on college tape. He runs like he is going to tackle you. Thats wwhat we like about him the most. Chidobe Awuzie Youth Jersey. He is a big, physical guy. He is a cerebral guy, but he runs very aggressively.Williams ignited the Giants second-half comeback last week with a 3-yard run on which he ran over an Atlanta defender.Quarterback Eli Manning said Williams showed another dimension, catching two passes for 18 yards. He had only 10 catches in his college career, including none as a senior. The big test for Williams will be playing in Philadelphia, which is loud, against the Eagles in a game that is always intense. You cant worry about the environment and the atmosphere, Manning said. Youve got to enjoy going into a place where they dont like you, so I think hes played in hostile environments before in college. I think hes just going to be worried about his assignment and going out there and playing good football.Since the Giants tend to alternate running backs, Hillis should provide a solid backup. The seven-year veteran who missed most of training camp with an ankle injury, had two rushes for 7 yards against Atlanta and showed his experience, picking up a blitz and knocking the opponent off his feet.It seems to me that a lot of what I do goes unnoticed, Hillis said. I think I am a lot better than what people give me credit for, and hopefully on Sunday night I can prove that.NOTES: DE Jason Pierre-Paul became the latest Giant to take a shot at the Eagles, the defending division champion. He noted in a roundabout way that the Eagles have won some close games, Yeah theyre 4-1, he said. But they could have easily been 0-4. But at the end of the day, they won four games. ... MLB Jon Beason is making progress with his injured foot and there is a chance he will play against the Eagles. ...P Steve Weatherford is still bothered by the left ankle he injured in the season opened. Special teams coach Tom Quinn said Weatherford has had to cut down on his normal workload. That ties him with Jack Ingram for fifth on the all-time list.Winning a Nationwide race, to me the novelty of being in victory lane hasnt worn off — at least to me, Keselowski said. ... I dont take these wins for granted or take these opportunities for granted.Kyle Busch, who was won a record 69 races in the Nationwide Series, finished second. Matt Kenseth was third, Blaney finished fourth, and Kyle Larson, who won here at Charlotte earlier this year, was fifth.Chase Elliott finished ninth, extending his points lead over Regan Smith to 42. Smith finished in 11th place.Elliott started from the pole and led a portion of the race but ultimately left the track frustrated with his performance. My restarts are some of the worst you can have, Elliott said. I think I would know how to restart a race at this point. That is 100 per cent pitiful, in all honesty.Ty Dillon, who entered the night third in thee standings, was involved in a six-car crash on lap 76, ending his night. Takkarist McKinley Youth Jersey. . He finished in 30th place and fell back to fifth place, 62 points behind Elliott.I made a bit of a mistake going four wide, Dillon said. The race included eight cautions, several the result of blown tires.I felt like we were playing prevent defence early in the race, said Keselowski. Everyone was waiting for who was the next person who was going to blow a tire. You didnt want to run slow and fall back in traffic where you couldnt make passes. But you could see everyone that ran hard kept having tire problems.Keselowskis crew chief Jeremy Bullins said: Im sure it will be on everybodys mind until they get through the first green flag run.Busch said thats something Sprint Cup drivers may need to be wary of on Saturday night.I think Cup cars tend to be harder on tires than Nationwide cars do because theyre faster down the straightaway, they land harder in the corners and whatnot, Busch said. We had issues tonight. It was a crash-filled night at Charlotte right from the start. The 200-lap, 300-mile race got off to a less-than-auspicious start with a crash on the first lap that damaged 11 cars and sent seven behind the wall, including those driven by Jeffrey Earnhardt, JJ Yeley, Matt DiBenedetto, Tanner Berryhill, Joey Gase, Jamie Dick and Will Kimmel.By the midway point of the race, only 16 of the 40 cars were on the lead lap and 13 were out of the race. Signed by Louis van Gaal, Depay started well but his form soon nosedived and he was omitted from the 18 man squad for the FA Cup final amid questions about his attitude.

Despite his reputation, Jose Mourinho was impressed with the way Depay handled being frozen out and his attitude in training but could offer the player few opportunities given the competition for places.
Depay eventually held talks with Mourinho during which he asked to leave after accepting he had fallen way down the pecking order. He had not started a Premier League game this season.
Everton, Nice and Roma were among those interested in signing Depay but all three clubs would have preferred a loan move after balking at the fees involved.

2015 Kia Sedona is a handsome minivan but don call it that
Pop quiz: What kind of vehicle seats up to eight people and has a pair of sliding doors, seats that fold out of the way and a commanding view of the parking lot at your local Gymboree?
According to Kia, it's not a minivan.
The South Korean automaker recently began selling its 2015 Sedona "multipurpose vehicle," a third generation people mover that starts at $26,795. It's aimed at rivals including the Honda Odyssey, Toyota Sienna, Chrysler Town Country and Dodge Grand Caravan.
Kia, like nearly every other purveyor of minivans, how much is a replica cartier ring, swears the Sedona is too cool to be called a minivan.
Honda uses Run DMC and Judas Priest to sell its Odyssey; Toyota had a "Swagger Wagon" ad go viral online to the tune of 12.7 million views on YouTube; and Dodge has an R/T performance version of its Grand Caravan that its CEO calls the "man van."
Kia's new ad campaign uses the tag line "It's not a sports car, it's a Sedona." Lest Corvette owners start lining up for a trade in.
Curiously, buyers seem to have much less problem with being seen in a minivan. Honda, Toyota, Chrysler and Dodge each sell at least 120,000 of them a year. Perhaps a Stuart Smalley intervention is in order for minivan makers: You're good enough, you're smart enough, and doggone it, people like you.
In Kia's defense, the new Sedona has the styling moxie to back up this otherwise silly identity crisis.
But despite cooking the same dish, the Lexus NX200t and the Lincoln MKC use very different recipes.
Both are all new, aimed at the fastest growing segment.

That similarity matters to Kia, which says 54% of minivan shoppers regardless of what they call the thing are empty nesters. Think grandparents with "active lifestyles" who still appreciate minivan practicality but also crave the style and amenities offered in many crossovers.
Unfortunately, segment leading handsomeness is all that distinguishes the Sedona from its peers. Kia missed an opportunity to set itself apart from a pack of relatively stale competitors.
The inside of the Sedona is built for seven people in standard trim, with a pair of reclining captain's chairs in the second row and a bench in the rear (an optional eighth seat wedges in the middle of the second row). Every seat in the house is spacious enough for tall adults, if not particularly plush.
Our nearly loaded, $43,295 SXL tester included "first class lounge seating" for the second row. In addition to reclining, the seats move side to side and fore aft and each has a leg rest that pops out. Picture a La Z Boy recliner with less room for your legs and no tiny fridge built into the side.
This Sedona's third row flips and folds into the floor like all minivans should, though the heft of the seats makes this a chore, even for athletic adults. With the seats in place, their cubby in the floor of the trunk creates a useful cavern for gear.
The middle row doesn't disappear into the floor as in Chrysler and Dodge models, though the seat cushion does fold up, and the seat forward against the front seats. This means users don't have to remove the middle row to get a healthy amount of pure cargo room with the third row stowed.
Overall, cartier replica friendship ring, the Honda Odyssey and Toyota Sienna have more room for both people and cargo, while the Chrysler and Dodge models rank about the same as the Kia.
From the Sedona's driver's seat, things were similarly average. The cabin is quiet but the ride quality is harsh. A 276 horsepower V 6 is standard on all models, as is a six speed automatic transmission and front wheel drive.
That power figure is similar to its peers', though the Sedona's acceleration felt sluggish. This was disappointing, especially since Kia uses a slightly more powerful version of the same engine in its (lighter) Cadenza full size sedan to great effect.
Our SXL test model is rated at 17 mpg in the city and 22 on the highway, lagging just a bit behind most of its peers. In a week of mixed driving, we averaged 20 mpg.
$43,395 may sound like a lot for a minivan sorry, multipurpose diaper wagon but it's on par with others in the segment. Spend that much on the Sedona and you get lane departure warning, a 360 degree camera system, forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, cartier replica ring engagement, two sunroofs, an Infinity sound system, leather seats and power tailgate and side doors.
That's an impressive roster of options, though we'd like to see some sort of DVD entertainment system included in it. And Kia expects the average Sedona buyer to opt for the mid level EX version, which starts at $32,995.
All Sedona models come with six air bags including side curtain air bags for all three rows, ABS, traction control and brake assist.

A history of American political slurs
1836: Martin Van Buren (Democrat) vs. Four Whig Candidates
In 1836 Martin Van Buren narrowly won the presidency against four candidates from the Whig Party, recently organized by former National Republicans. Although united in their hatred of the Jackson administration, the Whigs were unable to rally behind a national candidate. Instead, they nominated men popular in various regions.
Van Buren Whig opponents attacked him in various ways. They denigrated him as illiterate, saying in campaign flyers that his beats round, like a tame bear tied to a stake, in a little circle, van cleef replica necklace, hardly bigger than the circumference of the head in which it is placed. They claimed he was a prim and fussy about his appearance. They accused him of wearing corsets and called him Sweet Sandy Whiskers because he scented his reddish whiskers.
He was labeled the Little Magician and the Red Fox of Kinderhook (the New York town where he was born) to highlight what his enemies saw as slipperiness and lack of principle. They also coined the adjective to describe someone who is evasive or uncommitted in politics. David Crockett, a former congressman who supported fellow Tennessean Hugh White, wrote about Van Buren, is said that at a year old he could laugh on one side of his face and cry on the other, at one and the same time. the Van Buren campaign took a few negative swipes at the Whigs, they concentrated on organizing the voters and keeping party members loyal. This verbal abuse reached a peak in 1864, as the country faced the challenge of a presidential election during wartime. Anti Lincoln newspapers still frequently portrayed the president as an ignorant hick. After Lincoln and Tennessean Andrew Johnson received the Republican nomination, the New York World fulminated: age of statesmen is gone; the age of rail splitters has succeeded In a crisis of the most appalling magnitude the country is asked to consider the claims of two ignorant, boorish, third rate backwoods lawyers. Ignoramus Abe was one of the nicknames flung at him. Others, as recorded by Harper Weekly for September 24, 1864, included Despot, Liar, Thief, Buffoon, and Old Scoundrel.
Not only the press, but the public held Lincoln to blame for the military disasters of the past three years. Even many loyal Republicans questioned whether he should run again. The Radical Republican wing of the party also felt that he had not gone far enough to abolish slavery, and they feared that he would be too conciliatory toward the South after the war. They chose to run Fr
1868: Ulysses Grant (Republican) vs,van cleef flower copy necklace. Horatio Seymour (Democrat)
The 1868 presidential election was mainly about the Civil War. Although hostilities had ended three years earlier, feelings on both sides were still running high. The political parties reflected the sharp sectional differences that continued to divide the country. Republicans, party of Lincoln, ran a Union war hero for president. Democrats, the party of the South, ran a Copperhead.
While General Ulysses S. Grant was an easy choice for Republicans, van cleef flower replica necklace, the Democrats struggled through more than twenty ballots before settling on a dark horse candidate, former New York governor Horatio Seymour. Seymour was flustered by the unexpected nomination. At first he declared that he could not be a candidate. Then he became weepy and was led off the platform by his friends. Although he accepted the nomination immediately afterward, Republicans leaped gleefully on this sign of weakness, labeling Seymour the Great Decliner.
If Seymour was surprised by the nomination, others were stunned. As a Peace Democrat during the war, Seymour had held opinions that many in the Union considered traitorous. Republican newspapers hit this note hard. They reminded voters that then Governor Seymour had addressed the New York draft rioters with the unfortunate phrase, friends. The New York Herald called Seymour embodiment of Copperheadism. The New York Tribune declared that if Seymour could be elected over Grant, patriot blood poured out like water at Gettysburg, Vicksburg, Mission Ridge and in the advance to Richmond was shed in vain. The paper told its readers, a Democrat and you find a Rebel under his skin. lived up to this reputation by running a racist campaign, accusing Grant and the Republicans of wanting to the South. Democrats were bitter that the army had been sent into several Southern states to enforce Reconstruction. They portrayed Grant as a would be military dictator man on horseback and sneered at his campaign slogan, us have peace. The Democratic vice presidential candidate Francis Blair wrote, peace to which Grant invites us is the peace of despotism and death. may have been a hero to most Northerners, but to his critics he was Grant the Butcher. They reminded voters that his battles against the Confederate Army in northern Virginia had been the bloodiest of the war. He had won, but at a terrible cost. Grant had also gained a wartime reputation as a serious alcoholic. The Democrats claimed he had been seen in the public streets even after his nomination. Anti Grant parades featured placards with the slogans the Butcher, the Drunkard, and talks peace but makes war. responded with acts, Seymour talks, Blair blows. They said that Blair was as much a drunkard as anybody, pointing to a two day hotel bill that listed $10 for room and board and $60 for whiskey and lemons. As for Seymour, they hinted that there was insanity in the family.
Grant refused to campaign, which led the Democrats to call him deaf and dumb candidate. However, as Election Day drew near, it became clear that Grant status as a war hero was enough to make him popular with voters. The Democrats began to fear a landslide defeat. One faction of the party clamored for Seymour to step down in favor of Chief Justice Salmon Chase. Seymour embarked on a frantic last minute speaking tour to build support, but to no avail. He carried only eight states.
1884: Grover Cleveland (Democrat) vs. James G. Blaine (Republican)
Words for scoundrels were plentiful during the Gilded Age. Beginning in the 1880s, boodlers were politicians who lined their pockets with profits from bribery, graft, and fraud. Cash that party bosses doled out to reward faithful supporters was also known as boodle.
Boodle is an old word, adopted from New York early Dutch settlers. Originally it meant someone estate or possessions. It later evolved into underworld jargon for counterfeit money and finally into slang for ill gotten gains in general. Such terms as boodler, boodleizing, boodle politician, and the verb to boodle were common in nineteenth century newspaper editorials. For instance, an 1887 Nation editorial declares with exasperation, York is better known all over the world for boodle Aldermen and municipal rings than for anything else. the early twentieth century the word had lost its political meaning. Boodle is now close to being obsolete, but is still used occasionally to mean any kind of contraband.
Even less familiar than boodler these days is the fantastical coinage snollygoster. This word was popularized almost single handedly by a Georgia Democrat named H. J. W. Ham, who traveled around the country during the 1890s with a stump speech titled Snollygoster in Politics. Ham claimed to have first heard the word during an 1848 political debate. He defined a snollygoster as a demagogue or a hypocrite. The Columbus Dispatch for October 28, 1895, captures the spirit of the word with this more elaborate definition: snollygoster is a fellow who wants office, regardless of party, platform or principles, and who, whenever he wins, gets there by the sheer force of monumental talknophical assumnancy. unclear how snollygoster originated. The word may be derived from the German schnelle geister, meaning spirit, but extravagant nonsense words such as lollapalooza and splendiferous were popular during the nineteenth century. Snollygoster may simply be part of this trend.
Snollygoster, although nearly obsolete, van cleef knock off alhambra necklace, enjoyed a brief moment of celebrity in 2009 when British politician Richard Graham used it on his website. After a flap over questionable campaign expenditures, Graham challenged his opponent to publish his expenses that all Gloucester voters could see that he isn a snollygoster.
1904: Theodore Roosevelt (Republican) vs. Alton Parker (Democrat)
Mark Hanna worst fears were realized on September 6, 1901, when an anarchist shot President McKinley at the Pan American Exposition in Buffalo, New York. He died eight days later, and Roosevelt assumed the presidency. Hanna was bitter about the turn of events. H. H. Kohlsaat, editor of the Chicago Times Herald, recalls speaking with him on McKinley funeral train. Hanna fumed, told William McKinley it was a mistake to nominate that wild man at Philadelphia Now look, that damned cowboy is president of the United States. dismayed by wild man ascent to the presidency referred to him as His Accidency. This dismissive phrase was first applied to John Tyler when he inherited the presidency from William Henry Harrison in 1841. Accidency is a rarely used word for a chance happening.
Roosevelt deeply resented this title. He was determined to run again and be elected in his own right. The Republican leadership would have preferred a more conventional candidate, but the voters loved his unorthodox style. The New York Sun expressed what many people felt about him with their famously succinct, back handed endorsement. The five word editorial declared: With all thy faults. 1904 election was fairly colorless. Roosevelt adhered to the principle that sitting presidents don campaign. His opponent Alton Parker, chief justice of the New York Court of Appeals, was a deeply reserved man who didn travel and made only a handful of campaign speeches. He couldn begin to compete with the popular Roosevelt. Parker carried only thirteen states, all of them in the South.
On election night, when the returns showed that Roosevelt had won an overwhelming victory, the president turned to his wife and remarked, dear, I am no longer a political accident. He was still savoring his triumph a few days later when Republican politician Joseph Benson Foraker called to pay his respects. Foraker recalls in his memoirs, I was ushered into his office he walked forward briskly to shake hands and welcome me. In doing so he announced with manifest satisfaction, are shaking hands with His Excellency, not His Accidency.'
1912: Woodrow Wilson (Democrat) vs. William Taft (Republican) vs. Theodore Roosevelt (Bull Moose) vs. Eugene Debs (Socialist)
Lunatic fringe is another of Theodore Roosevelt memorable contributions to the language, although he first used it to talk about art rather than politics. In a review of the New York City Armory 1913 exhibit of modernist art, he wrote, have to face the fact that there is apt to be a lunatic fringe among the votaries of any forward movement. In this recent art exhibition the lunatic fringe was fully in evidence, especially in the rooms devoted to the Cubists and Futurists. fringe was quickly adopted as a political term.
1932: Franklin D. Roosevelt (Democrat) vs. Herbert Hoover (Republican)
Many Democratic Party chiefs considered New York governor Franklin D. Roosevelt a weak choice in 1932. He had run as James Cox vice presidential candidate in 1920 but did not have the strong track record of some other presidential hopefuls, including Al Smith, who wanted to run again. It took four votes and aggressive behind the scenes maneuvering to get Roosevelt nominated.
H. L. Mencken commented, was a great convention nominating the weakest candidate before it. How many of the delegates were honestly for him I don know, but [t]here was absolutely nothing in his record to make them eager for him. Political commentator Walter Lippmann described Roosevelt contemptuously as amiable boy scout. choice of John Nance Garner, Speaker of the House, for the second spot on the ticket exacerbated the problem. The popular Texan was much better known and more experienced than Roosevelt. One disappointed Texas colleague complained, a kangaroo ticket. Stronger in the hindquarters than in the front. a platform that promised unemployment relief, sweeping programs to put people back to work, stock market regulation, and the repeal of Prohibition, anyone the Democrats ran would almost certainly have been elected in 1932. The embattled Republicans were stuck with Hoover, who insisted on running again.
The president was now so disliked that audiences often booed him when he made public appearances.
The Republicans did their best, attacking Roosevelt as a radical and a socialist. Hoover predicted economic ruin if the Democratic ticket was elected, saying would grow in the streets of one hundred cities. Republicans also questioned whether Roosevelt was healthy enough to be president polio had left him paralyzed from the waist down since 1921. Roosevelt answered his critics with a vigorous cross country campaign, giving dozens of speeches in front of cheering crowds. He told them, policy is as radical as American liberty, as radical as the Constitution. were obviously convinced. Nearly 58 percent of voters went for the kangaroo ticket.

A bank heist turns into bloody shootout
Police search neighborhood for suspects'It was like the OK Corral'Gunmen suspected in two other robberiesLOS ANGELES (CNN) A blaze of automatic gunfire ripped through a crowded neighborhood after several heavily armed gunmen dressed like commandos botched a bank robbery, van cleef and arpels clover knock off necklace.
(1.7M/43 sec. QuickTime movie)Two suspects were killed, and 15 people were injured, including 10 policemen. None of the injuries incurred during the hour long shootout was "life threatening," Los Angeles Police Chief Willie Williams said.
Initially out gunned, police responded to a scene in North Hollywood that resembled a combat zone. Bullets were flying from all directions into cars and buildings and bystanders, too.
More than 200 police were on hand for the siege, which lasted more than an hour. Armored personnel carriers and dozens of police cars, fire engines and ambulances were called to subdue the attackers and attend to the wounded.
Wearing body armor and carrying a trunk full of weapons, van cleef copy necklaces, the robbers were ready for a fight. And that's exactly what they delivered, firing "multiple hundreds" of rounds, according to police.
They fired armor piercing bullets at anything that moved, and one suspect used a getaway car as a shield. Two suspects fought fiercely to the death, killed by helmeted police who fired bullets to the head at close range.
Police search neighborhood for suspects Police Cmdr. Tim McBride said he'd seen nothing like it since the Symbionese Liberation Army opened fire on LAPD officers in 1974, three months after members kidnapped newspaper heiress Patty Hearst.
One of the wounded officers was in serious condition, Williams said. Five have been treated and released from a hospital. One officer and one civilian were injured in a related car wreck.
Of the two suspects killed by police, one died of multiple gunshot wounds after he was captured. Police made several arrests in connection with the shooting, but the two dead gunmen are the only suspects known to be involved in the robbery attempt, Williams said. police chief, however, could not confirm that all of the suspects had been captured or accounted for.
After the shooting subsided, squads of helmeted police cordoned off entire blocks searching for suspects. Later Williams said: "We're know of no other suspects. We're not actively looking for anybody."
He added that police were combing through the crime scene to ensure it is safe for detectives.
'It was like the OK Corral' At one home, police wrecked a shed with a battering ram attached to an armored personnel carrier hoping to find a suspect, but to no avail.
Nine elementary schools in the area were shut down. And residents of the middle class neighborhood northwest of downtown Los Angeles were advised to stay in their homes or call 911 if they had to leave.
The shootout occurred not far from the Disney, Universal and Warner Bros. studios, and the busy Hollywood Freeway was closed in both directions, tying up mid day traffic.
The brazen attack was covered by police helicopters hovering above the scene, some drawing fire from the suspects. During the battle, one robber calmly tossed an empty assaultweapon into the trunk and picked up another, as if he were changing flashlight batteries.
"They had black masks over their faces and full black gear, with belts and ammo around their waists," said Bob McKibben, an appliance store manager who watched the battle. "These guys were ready for war."
"It was like the OK Corral, van cleef flower knock off necklace," said witness Nancy Swanson.
Police borrow guns, ammo from a gun shop Officers who initially responded to Friday's robbery, carrying standard issue 9 millimeter Baretta handguns, were in trouble.
"Tactically, the first officers that arrived were at a severedisadvantage," weapons expert and former LAPD officer Dave Butler said. "Police carry 15 rounds. They would need to re load."
Stunned officers were out gunned to such a degree that at one point they burst into a gun store, and walked out with more powerful guns and ammunition.
Police "came in a panic because their weapons weren't good enough to fight these people," said the store's president, who would identify himself only as Bob.
"These people had body armor and they needed something thatwould break body armor," he said. "We supplied them with slugs that would at least break bones on someone wearing body armor."
Added the LAPD's McBride: "We have many suspects who have multiple guns, and they continue to out gun us and fire at us at will."
Gunmen suspected in two other robberies Fourteen people hid themselves in the bank vault during the shootout.
Cameras were rolling as police shot one suspect in the head. The aerial news crews followed a second, limping gunman as he slowly drove away in a car the first gunman had used as a shield. The driver fired randomly, stopped and appeared to be trying to commandeer a pickup truck.
Crouching behind parked cars and dashing across intersections, van cleef arpels replica necklace, police fired back and eventually surrounded him and took him into custody. Police say he later died.

8 Actors Who Look the Same on Every Movie Poster Part 3
Whether you're sitting at home trying to decide what to watch on Netflix or standing in the lobby of a cinema like some sort of caveman, movie posters are important. You've probably stared at thousands of posters over the course of your life before deciding that, van cleef butterfly replica necklace, fuck it, you're just gonna watch Hot Shots! Part Deux again. We've all been there.
That's why we're always surprised when we notice that famous actors tend to do the exact same oddly specific things in almost every single one of their posters, for reasons that are beyond the comprehension of common mortals like us. For example .
But then you have cases where we don't even remember that many things actually being on fire in the film itself, but they still set the poster aflame anyway:
"Just throw some torches on there. We told you, it's in his contract."
And finally there's The Wicker Man, the Nicolas Cagest of all movies, in which Cage didn't bother to show up for the poster at all. He was probably supposed to be running away from that fire or something, but without him in the way, we finally get a pure, unobstructed view of the blaze:
Spoiler alert: Cage is inside there getting burned alive. At least it wasn't the bees.
It seems that Zooey's quirkiness is a force that must be contained lest it spill over to the rest of the poster and infect the other actors, so they started boxing her off right from the beginning of her film career she's been put in boxes in the posters for Mumford and Manic, and she doesn't seem very happy about it.
Run,van cleef copy alhambra necklace, Joseph Gordon Levitt. Run while there's still time.
This tendency continued in her movies Live Free or Die and The Go Getter, but something happened her disruptive influence has shaken up the position of her boxes and those around her. She's breaking free!
For Midnight in Paris, he even wore yellow pants and a blue shirt to match the Van Gogh painting used in the background they tried a Picasso first, but Wilson's body parts kept painfully shifting place.
But still, this is clearly a deliberate aesthetic choice it's not like he actually has mutant powers that allow him to blend into any environment, van cleef and arpels fake necklace, right? Except that, even when there are more people in the poster, he's the only one who matches the background.
The costume designer who gave him bandages that didn't match was summarily executed.
A red, black, and white jacket in Starsky Hutch, a blue shirt in Hall Pass, and a green coat in The Darjeeling Limited (the beige shirt is probably a printing error). And then there's the poster for How Do You Know:
You may recognize Jack's expression as classic "I have 12 Oscar nominations to my name, and yet here I am" disdain.
Now,van cleef flower fake necklace, that's impressive. Here we have four characters: two who don't match the background at all, one who is vaguely in the same color family, and then Wilson, who appears to be wearing a shirt made out of the curtain he's standing in front of.
This just makes us appreciate Wilson's accomplishments even more: It must be hard to get noticed in Hollywood when your greatest talent is to not get noticed. This might explain why they snubbed him and he didn't even appear in the posters for the Night at the Museum movies.
Entrapment and Chicago are two of her most famous movies, but Zeta Jones has been drawing attention to her right hip for a long time; she's been doing it from her earliest roles (the little seen Blue Juice) to her most recent ones (the little seen Rock of Ages).
Perhaps figuring that the audience has seen enough of her hip by now, in the poster for Intolerable Cruelty, she tries to get George Clooney to look at it. You might think he's doing a great job resisting her charms, but the universal "hiding a boner" posture gives away the fact that he has at least peeked at it.
As you can see, she usually accomplishes her objective by standing like her spine is severely dislocated, but the poster for The Rebound proves that she can even manage to do it while sitting.
"If I don't sit this way, my entire skeleton will collapse."
Granted, it's a nice hip (way nicer than any of ours), but there's just so much more to be proud of, Catherine. We don't know why she's so insecure about this. Even the cartoon version of her in Sinbad is oddly enamored with that particular part of her pelvis.
Yet another disappointingly titled work that does not, in fact, star Sinbad.
But she isn't the only one who benefits from this. The makers of The Legend of Zorro were aware that Zeta Jones' hip works like a black hole that sucks attention, which is probably why they decided to position the movie's logo in such a strategic place.
Portman first started getting some respect as an actor in Closer, which has a poster that required all the actors to look straight ahead and get as serious as possible. So she dropped the smile for this one, but you could still sort of see some trace of mischievousness in her face.
However, Portman's real turning point was V for Vendetta, where they must have taken 200 different photos before they finally reached the point where she just wanted to go home, as evidenced by the completely bored and emotionless way she's looking at us.
Which would have made a far more appropriate symbol for Anonymous, if you ask us.
Somehow, this worked out pretty well for her, so she's been doing .
Apparently Mila Kunis is terrible at oral.
And this doesn't just happen in serious dramas Thor and Your Highness are a superhero film and a medieval stoner comedy, respectively, and she still gave us the blank face. This is made even more baffling by the fact that she's never used that expression in the movies themselves. Maybe she just fucking hates doing posters.
