Carmella by pinfall (7:39)This match took far too long to happen during their feud, but once Bella and Carmella got down to it, this no-DQ match was as advertised -- a violent sendoff to a long-brewing conflict.Carmella wore the wounds of the beating she suffered Tuesday on SmackDown after running down Bella on the microphone, and in the early stages she got her measure of revenge by channeling her inner Sasha Banks with some vicious kendo stick shots.Bella took control by kicking Carmella in the back and then throwing her into the video board on the ring apron. She then climbed onto the ring barricade and hit a well-executed spinning kick to Carmellas chin, but the finale came when Bella used a fire extinguisher to great effect and then hit the Rack Attack 2.0 to get the pinfall victory.Both of these women are now clear to move on and put this rivalry behind them, as evidenced by Carmella pointing to Natalya as Bellas secret attacker at Survivor Series. While this match wasnt a technical classic, it accomplished what it set out to do by getting Bella a sorely needed victory.Ladder match for WWE Intercontinental championship: The Miz (c) def. Dolph Ziggler (25:10)It would be incredibly difficult to match the intensity and natural energy of their previous matches, but in this final showdown, The Miz and Ziggler closed the last chapter of their feud with an appropriately vicious sendoff.This match started in a similar manner to their last couple of contests, with each guy swinging for the fences early and missing due to the familiarity of their opponents offense.The pace was slow and methodical for that reason, and even as ladders were put into play, most of the biggest swings early on missed their targets. Counter-offense proved to define this match, as Ziggler ate a face-full of ladder on multiple occasions before ultimately using a ladder to pull the The Miz into the ringpost using his momentum. It was clear that these guys were going to get enough time to tell a fitting conclusion to this lengthy story.A spinning DDT from Ziggler on The Miz was the first sign of a definitive advantage for either man, but even as he walked past Maryse on the outside he took far too long to take advantage. The Miz responded by dropkicking the ladder into Zigglers face and then shoving it into a prone Ziggler in the corner multiple times. Yet again, though, neither man had a chance to settle down for long, with Ziggler neutralizing The Miz and springboarding off a ladder bridge to hit a Shawn Michaels-esque flying elbow drop.The Miz took over this match completely by working over Zigglers knee for a solid five-minute stretch, including a figure-four leglock with Zigglers leg looped through a ladder. Even as Ziggler tried to superkick The Miz, his injury didnt allow him tto do it and he ate a Skull-Crushing Finale face-first onto the ladder. The Miz took advantage against Ziggler, who climbed both ladders at the same time, and hit him with two low-blow kicks to send Ziggler falling for the final time.One rivalry is undeniably over, and Zigglers future is uncertain, but the ongoing conflict between The Miz and SmackDown general manager Daniel Bryan took center-stage in a promo just before the match and immediately afterward.I want to dedicate this win to the SmackDown general manager Daniel Bryan, The Miz said immediately after the match. Without your motivation, always hating me, and denying me, and giving Dolph Ziggler chance after chance after chance, it motivated me to be the greatest Intercontinental champion ever.While its hard to figure out exactly how this conflict will continue with Bryans physical condition, The Miz has clearly not seen the end of the wrath of his GM.Chairs match: Baron Corbin def. Kalisto by pinfall (12:51)Much was said about how the element of chairs in this match placed things on more of a level footing in terms of the storyline between the 6-foot-8 Corbin and the 5-foot-6 Kalisto. But very few pointed out how ugly and one-sided it could also get with the chairs in play.The early minutes of this match leaned far more heavily toward the latter, but a drop toe-hold into a chair wedged into the corner by Kalisto and a leap onto Corbin that put his back through six chairs set up in the middle of the ring changed that tune in a hurry. Corbin regain the momentum with a perfect little-guy versus big-guy spot; as Kalisto dove through the middle rope with a tope suicida, Corbin caught him in mid-air and spun him around several times before landing a Deep Six onto the floor.Say what you want about this match, but both men did a great job conveying just how much they were supposed to hate each other. Corbin missed chair shots as Kalisto did everything to stay one step ahead of the crash, and Kalisto sacrificed his body with an incredible moonsault into double-knees onto a prone Corbin with a chair laying on his chest.Kalisto connected with a great number of chair shots of his own, and set up a pile of chairs for a Salida Del Sol, but a chair smash to the face of a flying Kalisto and an End of Days from Corbin onto said pile of chairs brought the match to a swift end. Both superstars put their all into this match, and while the crowd was still coming down from the ladder match, there was a fair bit to like about this conflict between two under-utilized talents.Tables match for WWE SmackDown womens championship: Alexa Bliss def. Becky Lynch (c) (15:16)Just as the chairs match element seemingly leveled the playing field in the previous match, making this a tables match created one of the hardest outcomes of the night to predict. Sure, Lynch was already pushed from the top rope through a table in the build-up, but having a certain element of luck in play always gives the underdog an advantage they wouldnt otherwise enjoy.Both women really laid the punches and kicks in on their opponents, and both Lynch and Bliss really lived on the edge early in this match as they each teetered on the ring apron and teased falling through the table below. The pace of this match was somewhat off throughout, unfortunately, and while there were moments of excitement and some cool spots, both Lynch and Bliss took a little too long setting up tables on several occasions.Bliss had the lengthier advantage after doing her signature continuous stomps to the back of the head, forcing Bliss face into the mat. At some point the teases of running into or through the table, though well done, started to become a little bit much; there was one particular moment, however, when Bliss DDTd Lynch onto the metal edge of an upside down table, where the challenger looked positioned to take control and brought a somewhat quiet crowd back into the match.The pace of this title match certainly picked up in the latter stages and, after an eye rake, Bliss powerbombed Lynch from the apron through the table that lingered on the outside of the ring the entire match. This time, we look at cards that generally didnt fit neatly with the major themes of the cardset. Some of these are niche cards that fill in holes in different metas, some serve functions that arent quite represented by additional cards, and some are just plain filler, the latter an inevitability in card games. After these cards, we just have Blizzards final card drop to run down.We start out with Sergeant Sally, a token that functions as an area-of-effect spell, similar to the way Explosive Sheep from Goblins vs. Gnomes works. The catch here -- isnt there always one? -- is that you have to buff her to get really effective board clears. But theres good news in that it doesnt have to be as part of the handbuff mechanic weve seen this set; she can also be buffed by on-board buffs from popular cards like Abusive Sergeant or Power Overwhelming. Shes not powerful enough to stand on her own, but she could see tournament play as an extra board clear for midrange decks that could use an extra AOE.Raza the Chained is the latest card encouraging players to make Reno-type decks, but is it good enough? The effect is a good one if you have a deck that gets a lot of value out of the hero power and it could have some use in a Control deck that feels it has enough one-offs, given that the class has a number of tech cards of which you may only play a single copy. Probably the biggest problem for this card in the tournament scene is that Dragon Priest is likely the stronger Priest deck and its harder to justify the loss of copies of some of the very strong cards Priest received this release.White Eyes was a bit controversial on reveal, simply because of the power of The Storm Guardian, the card that White Eyes shuffles into the deck. But White Eyes is a very slow card. Youre not likely to keep him in your opening hand, which means youll probably get him around Turn 10 on average and then typically draw The Storm Guardian when you have six or seven cards left in your deck. For a card thats this slow, this is the power level you need for it to be decent. White Eyes is a serious option for Control Shaman, but thankfully doesnt do anything for the oppressive Midrange Shaman that has dominated in recent months.Burgly Bully is a bit like previous legendaries Troggzor the Earthinator and Trade-Prince Gallywix, both of which gave you a significant benefit from the opponent using spells. This cards cheaper, but the primary problem with the effect is that you generally want to stop the opponent from using spells, not simply get a benefit from them. Thats why Loatheb from Curse of Naxxramas was such a commonly-played card and Troggzor and Gallywix werent -- preventing your opponent from achieving their plan is better than getting rewarded for them doing so. Tomb Pillager gives you a coin as well, but the 5/4 body for four mana is more impactful and you almost always do get a coin, where youre not guaranteed anything here.Mana Geode is a card with an effect that is theoretically powerful, but in practice, will be too hard to pull off consistently. It requires you to spend two mana to heal a minion that outright dies very easily. Given the heal has little value to a weak card like this, is two mana for a 2/2 really that exciting? Blood to Ichor also can summon a 2/2 slime, but at least the one damage it does can really have an impact and synergizes with cards like Execute. And its half the cost. Mana Geode wont see play.The problem with Hozen Healer is that healing a single minion to full health just isnt that impressive a tech effect. Shaman has a zero-mana card called Ancestral Healing that restores a minion to full health and also gives it taunt, and even at no cost other than having the card itself, it never sees play. The card synergizes with Auchenai Soulpriest to remove a minion, but Priest already has quite a few more efficient single-target removal spells. This card will get some play in Arena becomes sometimes the stat choices arent that compelling, but you wont see this in any tournament.Fight Promoter should be taken seriously, for the simple fact that any card with a powerful card draw mechanic has to be at least thought about. Triggering this card draws two cards, and with a card draw worth roughly 1.5 mana, that essentially makes this card a three-mana 4/4 from a value standpoint (and this card will come later in the game when youre most interested in that card draw). This may sound like Im making a case for the card, but in the end, I dont think its good enough. Six mana means youre not going to be pplaying many six-health minions the same turn and most of the playable cards that start out with that much health are priority removals for the opponent. If the opponent was unable to remove Ragnaros last turn, theyre probably in deep trouble anyway, and youre more interested in cards that seal the victory, not a 4/4 body with card draw.For this trio of Shaman cards, we start off with Devolve, the cousin to the Evolve spell, which never really set off an archetype. While a useful defensive tool, its a little too inconsistent because lower mana cost minions can frequently be worse for you than the more expensive ones. A fun card, but it really only will see play -- and even then only a chance -- if handbuff decks actually become tier one decks, as this card removes all those buffs from a full board.Four 1/1s for four mana isnt impressive, but Call in the Finishers does have a place in a traditional Murloc deck if one becomes playable in Shaman. Murloc cards have a great deal of synergy, after all. It depends on that deck being good enough, though, and I cant see pros playing Murloc Shaman over Aggro, Midrange, or after this set release, Control Shaman.Jinyu Waterspeaker is one of those cards that make Control Shaman more interesting, along with White Eye among others. Shaman has problems with survivability and while Healing Wave can heal a lot more, a good ending is reliant on winning a Joust, which is not an effect you want to count on when youre trying to stabilize. Waterspeaker gives you the six health no matter what, with a body capable of helping board control, which protects your life total as well.Virmen Sensei has the benefit of Beast Druid being playable, at least for a few months; after that, some terrific cards like Savage Combatant rotate out of Standard, an event that will necessitate Druid getting some more good Beast Druid cards in the next expansion to remain relevant. The Sensei also has the advantage of being a ninja rabbit, which is cool. But the +2/+2 isnt powerful for a class that already can do that and its not a beast itself, which is a big deal. Beast Druid wants to be playing Beast minions on turn four or five to prepare for Menagerie Warden, not dinking around with small buffs.With Shadow Sensei I think we have a case of not yet. Stealth is a fairly weak mechanic and for a four-mana 4/4 to see play, it generally has to have a crazy effect or some kind of crucial synergy. Rogue just doesnt have enough Stealth minions worth playing to get sufficient value from this card. But that doesnt mean itll always be the case; with a few compelling Stealth minions, this card becomes a lot more interesting. See Burgle for Rogue, a card that only became more interesting in later expansions when cards that synergize with stolen cards made that at least a playable deck.Daring Reporter has a lot of text for what will be, in most cases, a four-mana 4/4. Thatll see play in Arena, but Mill-type decks arent good enough at high-level play, so dont expect to see much of the Reporter at the World Championship next year. Outside of a very specific Mill deck -- which Im not sure this would even take this -- its just a weak card. Three-health minions are easy to remove by this point of the game and, even if unable to be removed, +1/+1 isnt strong enough to change an opponents strategy to one that avoids drawing extra cards.Gadgetzan Ferryman shares a lot in common with Youthful Brewmaster (as well as Ancient Brewmaster, which rarely is played) in that it flips minions back to the hand. Sometimes this is better than Youthful Brewmaster in that you can intentionally not combo it so that youre not forced to remove one of your own minions from the board in certain situations. But sometimes its worse because youll be unable to pull off the combo requirement. In the rare situations that you want to brew one of your own minions as an intentional part of your deck construction, usually a week or so after a powerful Battlecry minion is released, youll probably choose the less volatile Youthful Brewmaster over this. This card would have been more interesting as a three-mana 2/3 that could also function as a Sap, in that it could also bump your enemys minion to their hand.
