Playing his 300th NRL game, Melbournes Cooper Cronk didnt want the spotlight in the preliminary final against Canberra to be on him. Chris Covington Jersey .But a dominant first half at AAMI Park meant Cronk was front and centre. The Storm halfback became just the 25th player to reach the milestone and led his team on to their home ground, with the 30m line marks on either side of halfway changed to 300 in his honour. With a reputation for delivering when the pressure is on, Cronk did just that.He opened with a 40m run after scooping up a grubber kick by his Raiders opposite Aidan Sezer, who was forced to turn and chase him down.Cronk then scored Melbournes first try in the 32nd minute when he ran on to a Cameron Smith ball out of dummy half and dived across the line.It was a special moment with the pair the first 300-gamers to play in the same line-up.Players from both teams raced in as tensions boiled over but the ever-cool Cronk called his teammates away and led them downfield to address them in a huddle as Smith kicked the conversion. That gave the Storm an 8-6 lead to the delight of the mostly pro-Melbourne crowd of 28,261.They had more reason to celebrate with the home side holding on to win 14-12 after a thrilling second half to book a grand final berth and give Cronk another chance to star again. These chances dont come around too often, Cronk told the Nine Network after the preliminary final. It makes you proud to play rugby league for a living. Its great to celebrate 300; weve got some hard work this week and 301 will be a bit of a celebration too, hopefully. DURHAM, N.C. -- All of Dukes depth that was trumpeted prior to the season has been mostly an afterthought through the first couple of weeks of the season. The Blue Devils have been limited by injuries and at times nearly alarmed by the volume of ailments. But theyve mostly kept winning -- as they have been expected to do since beginning the season as the countrys top-ranked team.Even with a smaller rotation of players, the Blue Devils have made it work. Its more of an ironman, five-man game, Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski said during the weekends Basketball Hall of Fame Tip-Off.The sixth-ranked Blue Devils (4-1) are back in action Wednesday night when William & Mary (2-1) visits for a nonconference game at Cameron Indoor Stadium. This is the start of a four-game homestand for Duke. Its unclear whether any of the three injured freshmen -- Marques Bolden, Harry Giles, Jayson Tatum -- who have yet to make their collegiate debuts will play. Were trying to win with the hand thats dealt us, Krzyzewski said.In Sundays tournament final against Rhode Island, guards Matt Jones and Luke Kennard played all 40 minutes and guard Grayson Allen, who has been bothered by toe and leg ailments, logged 39 minutes.Im just proud of everybody the way we responded to that, Kennard said of the reduced available roster.Duke has won 27 of the 30 previous meetings with the Tribe.Across an eight-season period, William & Mary has knocked off three Atlantic Coast Conference opponents. That includes last falls season-opening upset at North Carolina Staate. Authentic Cowboys Jerseys. However, last weeks outing at ACC member Louisville didnt go well for the Tribe -- a 91-58 loss.William & Mary coach Tony Shaver said he wasnt pleased with the teams competitiveness in the second half. He expects more from his team against another high-level opponent. Its a big challenge, obviously, Shaver said. Theyre pretty good last time I checked. ... I think its a neat opportunity for this club right now because we played so poorly at Louisville. (This comes) in a hostile environment against an extremely talented team. While Shaver said Louisville dictated the game, he was happier with how the Tribe responded in defeating Presbyterian. Now, its another test against a national power.I want to see us go down there and play hard, Shaver said. I want to see us go down there and execute at the level were capable of. Its not going to be perfect. Its not going to be pretty at times.William & Marys Daniel Dixon, a guard coming off a 20-point outing against Presbyterian, said: I think were definitely excited and ready to show we can compete. I dont think we executed well against Louisville and I think thats a big key. This is the third season in a row that the Tribe has a road game against a Top 10 opponent. The Tribe has connected on double-figure 3-pointers in two of its games this season. EUGENE, Ore. Austin Corbett Jersey . -- Every team has one of them: A player who hasnt gotten much attention from outside the program but has made a significant impact on his teammates. It might be a scout-team regular, or even a walk-on. It might be someone who just grinded it out every day and never complained. At Oregon, that guy is senior running back Jarret LaCoste.LaCoste was a walk-on at Oregon two years ago when the Ducks went to the first College Football Playoff championship game. Hes since become a key contributor on the scout team -- last week he was tasked with simulating Stanfords Christian McCaffrey.Ask his teammates and theyll all say hes a beast in the weight room, helping younger players to keep up their offseason lifting regimens.LaCoste, who played this season against Washington and gained 55 yards on 10 carries, has already graduated and hes about to embark on a job with a Portland accounting firm. He was never on scholarship during his career with the Ducks -- but he jokes hes gotten some stylish Nike team gear.Honestly, I never would have dreamed I was going to play Division I football, ever, he said. So my expectations just from the start were low, I was like, `Wow, Im just so honored to be on this team, I cant believe they let me on. This is awesome. But then I thought, `I feel very privileged and honored to be on this team, so I better give them everything I can and never let anyone down.Arizona tight end Josh Kern was originally recruited by then-coach Mike Stoops as a quarterback but switched positions after a redshirt year. Hes had only had a dozen touches. But Kern has been the heart of the Wildcats. He gave the eulogy for senior outside linebacker Zach Hemmila, who died in his sleep in August. Kern also spoke at the funeral of fan Andrew Valdez, a local teen who lost his battle with cystic fibrosis last year.Ive never had to worry about him doing the right thing, coach Rich Rodriguez said. Hes a leader in the community. Hes our top service guy. I dont know if you can be a better role model for all of our players than Josh Kern. His teammates echoed the sentiment.People dont see the stuff that goes on inside of here, but like when we come home from a game and get off the bus, Josh is like, `Hey, you need you ride? Samajie, you want a ride? running back Samajie Grant said. Josh, even though he hasnt been playing like he wants to, is still bringing it every single day.At Colorado, quarterback Sefo Liufau pointed to junior cornerback Andrew Bergner, who joined the Buffaloes last season as a walk-on and provides the offense with a challenge during practice.Sometimes you cant always get the best looks from your scout team, sometimes you dont have the depth, Liufau said. Sometimes you dont have the players to go out there and give us a half-decent look. Hes done a really good job this year of going out there and playing ball. Some unsung heroes are players who paid their dues for years and were finally rewarded with a shot. At UCLA that guy is quarterback Mike Fafaul, a former walk-on who became a starter with Josh Rosen sidelined by a shoulder injury.A fifth-year senior, Fafaul was a scout team regular while the starting job was held by Brett Hundley and later Rosen. Last season he appeared in just one game.He learned hed make his first career start during warmups before the Bruins game at Washignton State on Oct. 15. In a 52-45 loss to Utah back the following week, Fafaul set school records for completions and pass attempts (40-for-70) while amassing 464 yards passing with five touchdowns. He got his first career win -- and the game ball -- last week when the Bruins defeated Oregon State 38-24.Hes everything that you want in a quarterback in terms of studying the game and it being serious to him, coach Jim Mora said.Sometimes an unsung hero can be a senior who has just worked unselfishly throughout his career. At Oregon State thats safety Devin Chappell, who has had to shift positions because of injuries that have struck the Beavers defense.Chappell,a walk-on transfer from nearby Western Oregon, started eight games last season, and this spring his teammates named him one of the captains.Devin is one of those guys. Hes a self-made guy, coach Gary Andersen said. He walked on, got a scholarship -- which was so important to him. Hes a good player in this league and hes proven. Hes a team captain and a great leader. He would definitely be labeled a grinder.Stanford guard Johnny Caspers, a fifth-year senior, is much like that, too, Cardinal Coach David Shaw said.Even before the coaches get to everybody, there are guys like Johnny Caspers setting the table saying, `Heres what were going to do. So theres a connection between the coaches and the leaders of the football team, Shaw said. When things are going well, Johnny is one of those guys who say `Hey, hey, hey, hey, we havent won a Super Bowl yet. MIAMI -- Dwyane Wade still has every hope of finishing his NBA career in the same manner that it began, wearing a Miami Heat uniform.Thats the good news for Heat fans. Now comes the tough part -- Wade and the team figuring out how to make that a reality. It took a $20 million contract this past season to keep the relationship going for a 13th year; it wont come cheap this time either. While its obvious that being a free agent means Wade will have opportunities with other clubs, and he is more than prepared to listen -- as was the case last year -- his ideal scenario remains staying put.Hopefully, if everything goes well this summer for this organization and for myself, well give ourselves another chance, Wade told The Associated Press before leaving for vacation. He has had talks with the Heat already, since they didnt have to wait for July 1 to engage with their own players. Miami will also be busy trying to retain Hassan Whiteside and lure Kevin Durant, but keeping Wade is also very high on Heat President Pat Rileys list of offseason priorities. The Heat know what Wade wants in terms of money and roster; in turn, Wade has a general sense of how the team will proceed when the leagues annual player shopping spree opens at 12:01 a.m. Friday. And the teams social media accounts Tuesday were clearly trying to appeal to Wade, posting videos, quotes and stats that all paid tribute to what he did this past season when he averaged 19 points and 4.6 assists in what was another All-Star campaign.Weve had a few down years out of my 13 years here but for the most part we stay pretty competitive and we stay pretty darn close, Wade said. With the right moves and the right acquisitions, we can put ourselves right in the conversation. Its going to be an extremely difficult few days for the Heat, who again will have to work to keep the face of the franchise -- after all, Miami is often called Wade County -- in red, white and black for at least one more season. Heat fans were frenzied by the prospect of losing him a year ago, and Wade said many times this season that he wanted to continue playing in Miami for the rest of his career. But now its decision time. The 34-year-old Wade could leave, without question. So could Udonis Haslem, who like Wade has spent all 13 of his seasons in Miami. They would rather stay, though if the money isnt to their liking, either or both could feel like their hands are forced to go elsewhere. And Wade most certainly wants Haslem back, even if thats in the very limited role hes had in recennt seasons. Austin Corbett Jersey. About 25 percent of Miamis salary cap space for next season is allotted to Chris Boshs contract, though there remains no guarantee that he will be cleared to play after his last two seasons ended at the All-Star break because of blood clots. Bosh has remained silent about his future, and the team hasnt offered any specifics on his condition or prognosis.Wade said he 100 percent expects Bosh back.I have no doubt in my mind, Wade said. Im not a doctor. And even the people who are around, no one knows what Chris has gone through and how this is going to shake out. I hope thats back and doing it with me, doing it with UD, doing it with an organization that he won two championships in. I have no doubt in my mind that hes going to be back and hes going to be Chris Bosh.Still, theres no chance that situation is resolved anytime soon. So it leads to one part of the multi-tiered conundrum for the Heat, who saw stock in Whiteside (who was hurt in the Eastern Conference semifinals and missed the last four games of that series in which Miami lost in seven games to Toronto) soar after Boshs season ended at this years break. If Wade gets another $20 million deal, his salary along with Bosh would eat up about half of Miamis cap space. Wade knows the financial reality for the team, yet also knows his worth. Its going to be an interesting summer, Wade said. That could sound ominous. But then theres this: When asked what will drive him in his offseason workouts, Wade talked about Game 7 of the Toronto-Miami series -- when the Heat got blown out.We didnt have Chris, we didnt have Hassan, but I wish I could have done more, Wade said. That Game 7 is going to be in my mind. I want to be able to have more when that opportunity comes again. I want to be able to be in that moment and be able to overcome that Game 7.Theres also another Game 7 that will inspire Wade -- the one where his former teammate and current vacation partner LeBron James led Cleveland past Golden State for this seasons NBA title. Wade was there, and this season was the 11th consecutive year in which hes gone to the Finals, five of those as a player, the other six as a fan.I go as a competitor because I want to be there and I want to feel that atmosphere, Wade said. I want to experience that and I want to envision myself on that podium again.Time will tell if he gets there, and if he does, in what uniform. Will the return of golf to the Olympics in Rio bring more attention to womens golf and grow the game among women? As a former LPGA player, I think giving the sport an international platform certainly wont hurt womens golf. Youth Jaylen Samuels Jersey . But the issues I see internally at golf courses are stagnating its growth. Many women struggle to find their place at the golf course -- they feel intimidated because they believe golf is a boys club and wonder where they fit in. This should come as no surprise, because several clubs dont make women feel welcome.Take, for instance, Muirfield Golf Club in Scotland, which voted in May to not allow women to become members. When the R&A ruled it would no longer hold Open Championships there as a result of the vote, Muirfield stated it will hold a second vote on allowing female membership. Still, it wasnt a good look for golf. There are many issues keeping women off the golf course, from intimidation to a lack of tee times.Im reminded of a time during my high school golf days. While practicing on the range, an older man approached me and, without permission, put his hands on me and said, Here, move your hips like this. His unwanted touches made me feel so uncomfortable that each time I went to the range thereon, I would isolate myself from the rest of those working on their games. I already had been playing for 10 years and had my sights on the LPGA. That one incident would not derail me from continuing to play, but it did impact me.Now, imagine a woman on the range who is just starting out and already feels nervous and self-conscious. Imagine her being approached by not one, but two men offering her unsolicited advice and touching her to show her what shes doing wrong. Some of these women dont come back as a result of the embarrassment.Vicki Vanderpool, PGA Junior golf director at Butler Country Club in Pittsburgh, saw this is as a recurring issue and started womens coaching practicing at her club. Its from 5 to 7 p.m. and ladies can just show up anytime and get help, Vanderpool said. Its on our private teaching range, which I feel will help get women out practicing and comfortable on the range. So many men keep giving ladies advice when they are on the range. And the funny thing, Ive never seen a woman go up to a man and give him unsolicited advice on his golf swing.Having this option has proven successful. Vanderpool said she even sees mothers bringing their daughters out now, because they have a safe place to practice. The idea of having designated areas for women is appealing. And if thats not possible, signage at the range reading, No unwanted coaching allowed. Leave that to the professionals could be beneficial. As a feminist, I believe in teaching women to be strong and to use their voices to say no when someone is bothering them. At a golf course or any training facility, though, a woman should not feel forced to do that. This is no different than gyms that have areas for women to protect them from harassment in the gym.A lack of female professionals also can contribute to fewer women playing.A representative from the PGA of America said only 948 of the 23,000 members are female. At the end of 2015, the LPGA teaching and club pros program only had 1,700 members total, some of whom are dual members of the PGA and LPGA.The PGA of America is striving to make its mark in womens golf, though. In 2014, Suzy Whaley was appointed PGA secretary, the first woman elected a PGA officer in the organizations history. Its a small but important step in giving women a voice in the golf world. In 2015, the PGA partnered with the LPGA to run the Womens PGA Championship, the LPGAs second major of the year. Such partnerships bolster a sense of unity between mens and womens golf.Another problem many clubs face is that mens leagues take over courses. At my golf club, womens leagues get one day: Monday mornings. The mens leagues have two days. Most women cannot take off work to play a round of golf on a weekday, unless they are using golf as a way to entertain a client. If courses took the initiative to offer women a 9-hole league in the evenings, they would open themselves up to a new clientele looking to connect with other female golfers. The Executive Womens Golf Association (EWGA) has worked diligently to provide more playing opportunities for working women and to connect women who work and love to play golf. There are 100 chapters nationwide and each month during golf season they host more than 7,500 golf, social and networking activities. The 12,000 members of EWGA receive discounts on lessons and greens fees, and special rates on apparel at various golf clubs. The EWGA said on average, a woman who is just beginning golf through their organization spent roughly $2,700 on equipment and activities, and each EWGA chapter generates $591,900 annually in golf-related spending in its community.I believe all golf courses are trying to figure out where their next customer is coming from, and how they can make an impression, Pam Swenson, CEO of EWGA, said. And we know that women are the gatekeepers in the family, and we [EWGA] have always professed that if courses welcome women, their families will also come.Events19, founded by Donna Hoffman, hosts clinics and 9-hole outings for beginners and experienced players. After the golf excursion, the women attend happy hour and partake in professional development activities, like learning how to close a deal on the golf course with a client. The first thing that attracts women to the game are the people [women, instructors, etc.] and then connecting to the environment around them, whether its the golf course, the facility and its accommodations, Hoffman said. More importantly, time is a commodity for women and I want our events to knock things off their to-do list, like meeting other professional women or fitting in exercise instead of having to go to the gym.Hoffman said many courses are eager to bring her in and see the value of having women at their course. The courses just need a little nudging, but most are open to suggestions on how to cater to women better.Catherine Kim, director of player development at TPC Summerlin in Las Vegas, said she was brought in to help restructure her clubs womens programs.I do a Get Golf Ready program for women called Divots and Divas, Kim said. Its an hour long session that lasts six weeks and helps women get acquainted with golf. They also get an alcoholic beverage of their choice. They sell out so quickly and we keep wondering where all these women are coming from, but they want to learn. The fact they are socializing with other women while learning a sport, I believe, is a key to the success of my program. It appears the simple thing courses need to do is show they care about women. If golf clubs begin to acknowledge women and address the issues that cause insecurity and reluctance to play, they will garner a new wave of women who will feel respected on the course, and theyll continue to play and pay. The third College Football Playoff rankings had barely been released before Bill Hancock, the CFPs executive director, reiterated that the system is working. We are confident, Hancock said Sunday, that four is the right number. But eight is so much more fun! And it seems that the majority of fans want the playoff to expand! And every playoff in every major American sport has eventually grown bigger!I dont anticipate any discussion about expansion, Hancock said.Hancock is a prince of a guy, but when it comes to college footballs postseason, hes the smiling sheriff of the fun police. Just because the sports decision-makers arent interested in exploring an eight-team playoff doesnt mean we cant drum up one.Why eight teams? Many believe eight is the sweet spot for the college football playoff: more national representation but not too much, and only one more round of competition. What would an eight-team playoff look like this season? The exercise is part reality and part subjectivity. To acknowledge the selection committee members, we will use their top four: No. 1 Alabama, No. 2 Clemson, No. 3 Ohio State and No. 4 Washington. Now, the fun part: We pick the next four! They are: No. 5 Penn State, No. 6 Michigan, No. 7 USC and No. 8 Oklahoma. Despite a 39-point loss at Michigan Stadium, Penn State is ahead of the Wolverines because of its overall profile (wins over Ohio State, Wisconsin, Temple and Iowa) and conference championship. USC didnt win its conference or division but has two better wins -- Washington and Colorado -- than anything on Oklahomas résumé. Plus, outside of Alabama, USC is the team no one wants to play. The first four out: Wisconsin, Florida State, Colorado and Western Michigan.Heres how a hypothetical eight-team playoff would look this year.No. 1 Alabama (13-0) vs. No. 8 Oklahoma (10-2) The Sooners want to show theyre not the same team that started 1-2, and coach Bob Stoops always craves chances to take down the SECs best. The game features the nations most dominant defense against a surging Oklahoma offense featuring quarterback Baker Mayfield, running backs Samaje Perine and Joe Mixon, and transcendent wide receiver Dede Westbrook. It would take a lot for Oklahoma to win, but the Sooners have the type of offense -- coorddinated by Lincoln Riley -- that tends to give Alabama trouble. Youth Chukwuma Okorafor Jersey. Crimson Tide wide receivers Calvin Ridley and ArDarius Stewart would look to attack a vulnerable OU secondary.No. 2 Clemson (12-1) vs. No. 7 USC (9-3) Who wouldnt want to see this matchup? It has it all: game-changing quarterbacks in Clemsons Deshaun Watson and USCs Sam Darnold, NFL-ready wide receivers in Clemsons Mike Williams and USCs JuJu Smith-Schuster, solid running back play, and elite cornerbacks in USCs?Adoree Jackson?and Clemsons Cordrea Tankersley. If you like speed and highlights, this game will not disappoint. Clemson has been on the big stage much more often than USC in recent years, but the Trojans showed at Washington that they are coming back strong.No. 3 Ohio State (11-1) vs. No. 6 Michigan (10-2) Yes, we get to see The Game again. It wont be quite the same at a neutral site (unless the hypothetical playoff begins on campus, which isnt a bad thing at all), but these teams are so evenly matched that drama is inevitable. Michigan had the right blueprint to beat Ohio State the first time around. If quarterback Wilton Speight?could take better care of the football against an opportunistic Buckeyes defense, the Wolverines likely would advance. Ohio State would once again lean on Malik Hooker, Marshon Lattimore,?Raekwon McMillan?and the defense, as well as veteran signal-caller J.T. Barrett, to beat its archrival for the second time and advance to the semifinals.No. 4 Washington (12-1) vs. No. 5 Penn State (11-2) We debated these two through the night and into Sunday, but in an eight-team playoff, the Huskies and Nittany Lions settle it on the field. Underrated quarterbacks Jake Browning (Washington) and Trace McSorley (Penn State) lead big-play offenses with excellent running backs -- Washingtons Myles Gaskin and Lavon Coleman, and Penn States Saquon Barkley -- and perimeter threats in John Ross III?and DaeSean Hamilton. Washington has the more decorated defense, highlighted by Budda Baker and Sidney Jones in the secondary, but Penn States defense gave Ohio State fits and steadily improved as the season went along. NEW ORLEANS -- Draymond Green irritated the other team, nearly started a fight, ignited a torrent of boos from opposing fans -- and backed it up with an all-around performance punctuated by a clutch defensive play in the final seconds.Just another night for the Warriors feisty forward.Green recorded his 15th-career triple-double with 12 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists, and it was the last of his four steals -- against star Anthony Davis, no less -- that helped the Golden State Warriors hold off the New Orleans Pelicans 113-109 on Tuesday night.I love playing defense, so when it comes to a situation where youve got to get a stop to win the game, I enjoy that moment, Green said of his steal, which he executed while the Warriors held a tenuous 111-109 lead.Davis, who had 28 points, five blocks and two steals, was furious that officials deemed Greens steal a clean play and drew a technical foul for disputing the officials decision. There was contact between the two players, but Green said Davis initiated it.I hit the ball as he was trying to throw his shoulder into me. I thought it was really clean, said Green, who also noted that he wasnt worried about the risk of putting Davis on the foul line if officials had seen it differently. Were up two (at the time) and weve got three of the greatest scorers in the world, he said, referring to Stephen Curry, who had a game-high 30 points, Kevin Durant, who scored 27 and Klay Thompson, who added 17 points.Davis disappointment was evident in his eyes as he largely avoided discussing the play -- a wise move if he didnt want to make headlines or draw a fine for criticizing officials. When asked to describe what happened, Davis said he was trying to score, and then waited in silence for the next question.Earlier in the game, after Davis had rejected Greens shot, the two bumped one another and appeared to exchange words while fans bombarded Green with boos. Later, when Green was rejected by Alexis Ajinca, the crowd went wild. But was Green was able to celebrate Golden States 13th road win in 15 games away from home.DURANTS DEFENSEFor all his scoring on an array of shots that ranged from a driving dunk to a 3-pointer, Durants happiest moment seemed to be when he was lying on the floor, pumping his fist, moments after hed blocked Davis driving shot with 34 seconds left. That whole possession, I was telling myself I wanted to make a huge play, Durant said. I was excited I was able to get over there and help the team out in another way besides making a shot. Philadelphia Eagles Avonte Maddox Jersey. . It was definitely fun. I was in the moment.COMMANDING RESPECTCurry hit five of Golden States 14 made 3-pointers, but one shot that stood out was a 22-footer from the right side. As the shot fell through, Curry reached back toward the New Orleans bench and got a reluctant but respectful low-five from Pelicans associate head coach Darren Erman, a former Warriors assistant.Right as Curry was pulling up, he said he could hear Erman trying to encourage New Orleans defense by saying, If he makes it, its a good shot.So I wanted a little praise for that good shot, and he gave it to me, Curry added. He was a good sport.BOLD APPROACHFor much of the game, the Pelicans sought to beat the Warriors at their own game, a seemingly counterintuitive approach for a team that has won just eight games.Instead, it produced one highlight after another on both ends of the floor, not to mention a highly competitive game.Langston Galloway scored 20 points, hitting five of New Orleans 14 3s, but the Pelicans missed their final five shots from that range.Tim Frazier scored 13 points for the Pelicans, who led by as many as nine in the first half and by five early in the final period. But the Pelicans committed four of their 17 turnovers in the last 4 minutes and missed their last five 3-point attempts. We stopped making shots, Davis said. The Warriors didnt force anything and things were going in for them. I had my opportunities but didnt come through.TIP-INSWarriors: Center JaVale McGee made his first start this season at center because regular starter Zaza Pachulia was missing his third straight game with a right wrist injury. If?Allysa Seely?could convey one thing about shedding her clothes for ESPN, it?would be that people with different abilities can compete at the highest levels of sport. You dont need to have two legs or two arms. I just want to help promote that.In college, Seely was diagnosed with Chiari 2 malformation, Basilar invagination and Ehlers-Danlos syndrome -- conditions that affect muscle function and the nervous system, and eventually led to the amputation of her left leg below her knee.Obviously the leg is the most difficult. I do have impairment in almost all of the muscles in my body. I lack something called proprioception -- thats where your brain is able to tell where your body is in space.?So when Im walking, and especially when Im racing and training, youll see me look down quite frequently to make sure I know where my legs are, which leg is in front and which leg is in back. On the bike when Im making turns I have to look down to make sure that I know which foot is up so that I dont hit my pedal on the ground.None of these complications have stopped her from competing and they definitely did not stop her from qualifying for Rio. She sat down with ESPN The Magazine for the 2016 Body Issue to talk about her Paralympics training.Self motivationSeely was diagnosed and had surgery in August 2010, and all she could think about was getting back to triathlon training. Her doctors and therapists were less sure.?There was significant amount of pushback and hesitation. I remember being in an inpatient rehabilitation unit and being like the joke of the floor -- people, nurses, physical therapists, they were betting that if I ever walked again they would do a triathlon or if I ever did this they would do a triathlon. So being me, it was kind of disappointing. But then I was like, You know what, Im going to do this. So I just set out to prove them wrong and get back to my life. She competed in the triathlon colleggiate nationals eight months later. Mark Scheifele Stanley Cup Jersey. But I train two to three times a day and in the gym lift three times a week. I swim almost every day and then I bike and run four to five days, so my training keeps me quite busy.Besides training for the Paralympics, Seely stays active by bouldering.Bouldering is similar to rock climbing but you do it all without rope. Its not straight up and down, its over and around and under and through. There are times when you are crawling on your hands and knees.Mental focusLiving with her medical issues, Seely says she never knows what she is going to have to deal with each morning. ?I think the biggest challenge I face is the unpredictable nature of a neurological condition. For a lot of people all they see is my amputation, they dont see the challenges in and out of every day. Last year alone I was in the hospital for over a month throughout the year -- seeing doctors almost every week. Sometimes I have great days and other days my body just doesnt want to cooperate and doesnt want to work. However, she does all that she can to manage whatever the day gives her.Its different. Its something you have to get used to. It changes. Its just another added part you have to navigate with training and racing. This summer, espnW is running stories, essays and letters on body image as part of a series called Love, My Body. The Florida Panthers surprised in 2011-2012, winning the Southeast Division and going to double overtime in Game Seven of their first-round playoff series, but they came crashing to earth in the shortened 2013 season, as injuries and subpar play conspired to leave them with the worst record in the NHL. Dorance Armstrong Jersey . Off-Season Game Plan looks at a Panthers organization that has plenty of promise, but is seeking a big rebound next season. "We were blindsided by it all and unexpected after what happened last season," GM Dale Tallon told the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. "The NHL is a tough league, and if youre not prepared or ready to play, and youre not at your best every night, youre not going to win." Its fair enough for the Panthers to have been optimistic after 2011-2012, but a quick look at their top goal-scorers from 2011-2012 and what happened to them in 2013 makes it pretty easy to see where the problems started. The good news is that Tomas Fleischmann remained healthy and productive. After that, though, it gets messy. Injuries leveled Kris Versteeg, Stephen Weiss and Sean Bergenheim; defenceman Jason Garrison signed with Vancouver and Mikael Samuelsson inked with Detroit. Once all those losses are taken into account, that left Tomas Kopecky, Shawn Matthias and Marcel Goc as the returning scorers that were healthy enough to support Fleischmann in 2013 and, not surprisingly, it wasnt nearly good enough. That doesnt mean a free pass for goaltending or defence, because theres plenty of room to improve those areas too, but the Panthers were the lowest-scoring team in the league in 2013. Looking through the Panthers organization, its easy to see better days ahead. Jonathan Huberdeau is a Calder Trophy finalist, the player that the Panthers get with the second pick in the draft will be a tremendous prospect and there is a quality group of prospects in the pipeline. It just might take some time for it all to come together. "You see it coming, but I want to win now, and I dont want to wait for years to pass," veteran defenceman Brian Campbell told the Miami Herald. If soon-to-be 34-year-old Campbell is impatient, its understandable, but the way for the Panthers to become a consistently strong team is to play the long game -- draft well, develop talent and have a strong core around which they can make smaller moves year after year. The TSN.ca Rating is an efficiency rating based on per-game statistics including goals and assists -- weighted for strength (ie. power play, even, shorthanded) -- plus-minus, hits, blocked shots, giveaways, takeaways, penalty differential and faceoffs. (Stats are listed in this format: G-A-PTS, +/-, PIM, GP). Generally, a replacement-level player is around a 60, a top six forward and top four defenceman will be 70-plus, stars will be over 80 and MVP candidates could go over 90. Ideally, hes probably a better fit on the second line for a good team, but Fleischmann is as reliable as the Panthers have right now. 19-year-old Jonathan Huberdeau enjoyed a productive rookie season, tying for the freshman scoring lead with 31 points, and while his minus-16 rating stands out as a potential problem, a little digging reveals that Huberdeaus possession numbers were just fine. He had a positive Corsi, but a low on-ice shooting percentage and low save percentage (both of which tend to fluctuate) when he was at even strength hurt Huberdeaus raw plus-minus totals. As Huberdeau gets stronger, his combination of size and skill should make him a building block for the franchise. Its taken some time for 31-year-old Tomas Kopecky to establish his level of play in the NHL and injuries helped give him more opportunities in Florida. Playing a career-high 17:41 per game, Kopecky tied his career high with 15 goals, though with a shooting percentage (16.3%) that was nearly double his career mark. Theres no need to get carried away with offensive expectations, but Kopecky has size, versatility and enough skill to be a useful player in the top nine. A solid two-way pivot who is unheralded, at least in part, because he has played more than 60 games once in the last six seasons, Marcel Goc has played a more significant role in his two seasons with Florida. Maybe he shouldnt be logging 18:16 per game, as he did in 2013, but Gocs steady play effectively forced him to take on more responsibility on a depleted team. Earning a shot with the Panthers after little more than a half season in the AHL, power forward Drew Shore didnt look out of place in terms of puck possession, but he had the fifth-worst shooting percentage (3.1%) among forwards with at least 50 shots on goal. While that left Shore with only three goals in 43 games, the positive to take from that is that he isnt likely to shoot at such a low percentage over the long run and his ability to generate chances will likely result in better offensive production as he matures. A four-time 20-goal scorer who put up a career-best 54 points in 2011-2012, Kris Versteeg had a mess of a season in 2013. Injuries (groin, chest, knee) limited him to just 10 games and, in that small sample, he was completely ineffective. There is some concern that Versteeg may not be ready for the start of next season, as he recovers from knee surgery, but once he is playing, the 27-year-old needs to be an offensive leader. Injuries have been a regular part of Scottie Upshalls career. Hes played 53 of a possible 130 games since signing with the Panthers, managing six goals and 10 points. Upshall is a feisty player who has shown some offensive ability in previous stops, but if the Panthers are looking to save money, buying out the last couple years remaining on Upshalls contract is a viable option. A 33-year-old heavyweight, George Parros has 113 fights over the past six seasons, a span during which he has accumulated 29 points and consistently played about six minutes per game. There are probably matchups during the regular season that might fit Parros particular skill set, but he could easily slide into a role as a part-time player at this stage of his career. Sidelined all season by a sports hernia, Sean Bergenheim is a quality checking winger who scored a career-high 17 goals in 62 games in 2011-2012. Getting a healthy Bergenheim back, likely to pair with Goc on a checking line, would provide stability for the Panthers forwards. After scoring 25 goals in the first 205 games of his NHL career, Shawn Matthias tallied 14 in 48 games last season, his 11 even-strength goals tying him with the likes of Zach Parise and Max Pacioretty. By no means does this suggest that Matthias is in their class, but maybe the 25-year-old with good size (6-foot-4, 220 pounds) is capable of providing secondary scoring on a more consistent basis going forward. 17 points in 43 games represented the lowest per-game point production of Peter Muellers career, but it wasnt a completely lost season. He stayed relatively healthy, missing only five games, and he was effective possession-wise. He had poor puck luck, so it wouldnt be unreasonable to see if the talented 25-year-old would get some more bounces to go his way over the course of a full season. Hell probably never be what was hoped for when he was picked eighth overall in 2006, but Mueller can be an offensive contributor. With 20 goals in 178 career games, Jack Skille isnt going to make much of an impact as a scorer, but he can skate, has good size and isnt afraid to use it, leading Florida forwards with 96 hits in 40 games. Skille can be effective in a depth role but, like Mueller, hes never going to fulfill the potential of being a high first-round pick (7th overall in 2005). A fixture on the Panthers for more than a decade, Stephen Weiss is an unrestricted free agent this summer and, following an injury-marred campaign, could have some appeal on the open market. If Weiss returns, he would add reliability at the top of the Panthers depth chart, but its easy to see how he could fit in a second-line centre role on a contending team too. His 2013 results aside, Weiss has been a solid two-way player, with improving offensive numbers while playing against the oppositions best. As the Panthers rebuild the franchise they are going to require some patience. Presumably, they will have the opportunity to draft Nate MacKinnon or Jonathan Drouin with the second pick in the draft and the Panthers have a number of quality prospects on the way, including Nick Bjugstad, Corban Knight and Vincent Trocheck, that will embark on their first full pro seasons next year (Bjugstad got a late-season 11-game audition with the Panthers at the end of the season). If the Panthers want to seek out some offensive help on the free agent market, Clarke MacArthur, Viktor Stalberg or Bryan Bickell might represent an upgrade at a reasonable price. Campbell was a career-worst minus-22 in 2013, but it was a result of poor percentages as his possession stats were solid, as usual. 22-year-old Dmitry Kulikov has loads of potential and has shown enough to play more than 21 minutes per game over the last couple seasons, but hes also missed 36 games with injuries and that has hampered his development. If the Panthers are going to be patient with their forward prospects, they should exhibit at least as much patience with Kulikov, a skilled defenceman who is still developing as a pro. Undersized blueliner Mike Weaver has ben thrust into a prominent role with the Panthers, playing more than 20 minutes per game for the past three seasons. He doesnt necessarily fare well in possession metrics, but Weaver also takes on the toughest defensive assignments. Ideally, the Panthers might have others to take some of the defensive pressure off Weaver, but hes a cost-effective alternative. 36-year-old Filip Kuba was used in a more offensive role earlier in his career. Now, hes supposed to be the steady vet, but he struggled in his first season for the Panthers and might benefit from a reduced role. The Panthers are taking their time letting 21-eyar-old Erik Gudbranson develop, not forcing him into big minutes or a significant role, yet hes still minus-41 in 106 games through the first two seasons of his NHL career. Since 1990, there are 10 defencemen to be a cumulative minus-41 or worse in their first two seasons and while thats hardly the determining factor of a players career fate, Gudbranson is precisely the kind of big, physical defenceman that the Panthers would like to use in a shutdown role, once hes ready for the challenge. With nearly 1,100 regular season games on his career odometer and coming off hip surgery, Ed Jovanovski may be nearing (or at) the end of his career. While that may not be Jovanovskis plan right now, with two years and $8.25-million left on his contract, its conceivable that hes not going to be a part of the Panthers future. Offensive defenceman T.J. Brennan got a chance to prove himself in the NHL when the Panthers acquired him from the Buffalo Sabres. Brennan is skilled with the puck and put up nine points (and am inus-8 rating) in 19 games with Florida, getting decent ice time (17:41 per game) while playing for Kevin Dineen, who had coached him previously with Rochester in the AHL. If Brennan can become serviceable defensively, his ability to create offence from the blueline could be an asset. Given his contract, hes an inexpensive gamble. Prospect Alex Petrovic has a shot to make the roster next season, but if Jovanovski cant return, there could be a need for a proven veteran, whether that includes bringing back Tyson Strachan or signing a free agent like Mark Fistric, who may cost more because hes younger, or veterans Kent Huskins or Toni Lydman to improve depth. With another year remaining on his contract, though, it makes sense to give Clemmensen the opportunity to mentor Jacob Markstrom, who is poised to take over the starting job. In 65 AHL games over the last two seasons, Markstrom has a .923 save percentage, so the 23-year-old is due for his shot in the NHL. He started out pretty well last season when he first got the call but, like many Panthers, struggled down the stretch (4.01 GAA, .876 SV% in April). For a young team, Markstrom makes sense as the starter because he will grow with the core of the team, but it could mean some additional growing pains because, no matter how good he is as a prospect, he still has to show that hes capable of handling a No. 1 job in the NHL. In 11 NHL games, Bjugstad scored one goal and was minus-8. He could make the Panthers next season, or maybe some time in the AHL would allow him to make a bigger impact on securing a spot in the Florida lineup. At the other end of the size spectrum, 5-foot-6 Rocco Grimaldi rebounded with a strong season at North Dakota, after suffering a knee injury in 2011-2012 but, given the forwards that the Panthers already have battling for spots, there is no need to rush Grimaldi into that mix. Whenever the time comes for him to challenge for a job, hell have to overcome his lack of size, but hes done that so far in his career. A skilled puck-moving defenceman, Mike Matheson had a strong freshman season at Boston College, but his game needs plenty of refining and he can use his time in college to get stronger before embarking on a pro career. A late bloomer who scored 133 points in 124 games during his last three seasons at North Dakota, Corban Knight was a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award. Theres plenty of competition for young players in the Panthers system, so Knight may need time in the AHL to prove himself as a pro. The Most Outstanding Player in the Ontario Hockey League, Vincent Trocheck has steadily improved throughout his junior career. Hes not physically imposing, so hell have adjustments to make as he starts his pro career, but hes raised his profile with a tremendous season. A punishing physical defenceman, Alex Petrovic is a safer bet to secure an NHL job than some of the scoring forwards listed above because Petrovic can fit as a sixth or seventh defenceman if need be, though there is obviously hope that the 21-year-old can develop into a shutdown-style defenceman. Another undersized forward prospect, Kyle Rau played with Bjugstad at Minnesota and put up 83 points in 80 games over the last two seasons. His offensive instincts and puckhandling skills give him a chance to succeed at the next level. With good size and speed, Quinton Howden leaves the impression that he could be more if took a more aggressive approach and while he struggled in an 18-game audition with the Panthers, hes only 21, so its reasonable to believe he could become a top-nine forward. It didnt speak well for Colby Robaks chances when the Panthers went outside the organization to add a puck-moving defenceman (T.J. Brennan), but Robak fared well in 16 games with the Panthers last season to remain a viable prospect, as one might expect from a defenceman with good size and puck skills. A fifth-round pick in 2011, Yaroslav Kosov may not be rushing to North America, but hes 6-foot-3, 220 pounds and has good puck skills; enough to make him worth keeping an eye on for a few years. EAST HARTFORD, Conn. -- A week after losing to Temple on a last-second play, UCF made sure it didnt blow another fourth-quarter lead. The Knights made fourth-down stops on two late UConn drives and held on to beat the Huskies 24-16 on Saturday. We didnt want that sour taste in our mouth again from last week, said UCF linebacker Errol Clarke, who finished with nine tackles and a sack. Thats what I think really pushed us over the top.McKenzie Milton threw for a season-high 317 yards and three touchdowns. He completed 29 of 45 passes and the Knights (4-3, 2-1 American) moved over the .500 mark by scoring 17 unanswered points and holding the Huskies (3-5, 1-4) scoreless in the second half.Arkeel Newsome ran 21 times for 101 yards and Noel Thomas had his fifth straight 100-yard receiving game for UConn, catching nine passes for 165 yards. But Thomas dropped a pass in the end zone on a third down with just over 3 minutes remaining, and quarterback Bryant Shirreffs came up short on a fourth-down scramble. The Huskies got the ball back near midfield with just over 2 minutes left and drove to the 21, before the defense stiffened and forced four-straight incompletions.I think our players have been through a lot after the past week, after how the last game ended, and I cant say enough about their character, said first-year coach Scott Frost.UConn scored the games first 13 points, capped by a 3-yard touchdown run from Newsome. But the Knights scored at the end of the first half on 19-yard pass from Milton to freshman Jordan Akins and took the lead on the first drive of the second half, when Milton hit running back Adrian Killins over the middle for a 39-yard touchdoown. Discount Cowboys Jersesys. It was the third consecutive drive of more than 70 yards for UCF.That was a big deal, it was a big moment, UConn coach Bob Diaco said ofAkins touchdown. We let the proverbial rope slip out of our hand a little bit there in the final minute-and-a-half of the half.A career-long 50-yard field goal by Matthew Wright early in the fourth quarter pushed the lead to eight points. The Huskies final points came on a 35-yard Bobby Puyol field goal, one of three he kicked in the first half.Puyol missed 31-yard field goal in the third quarter, which bounced off the right upright.THE TAKEAWAYUCF: The Knights have apparently found their quarterback in the freshman Milton, who started again over senior Justin Holman. It was Miltons fourth start this season. His 317 yards passing were the most since Holman threw for 336 yards against Temple in 2014.UConn: The Huskies have two offensive weapons in Newsome and Thomas and need to find a third. Shirreffs was again the teams second leading rusher with 49 yards. Alec Bloom was the teams second-leading receiver. He had two catches for 20 yards.JUST ANOTHER GAMEA trophy, which Diaco created before last years game after dubbing the series the ConnFLiCT, remained on UConns bench after the game, unclaimed by the Knights, who have not recognized the rivalry. It was just another ballgame for us, said Milton. Next week will be another ballgame for us and the week after that.UP NEXTUCF: The Knights visit No. 11 Houston next SaturdayUConn: The Huskies travel south to face East Carolina. New A-League boss Greg ORourke says expansion of the competition is inevitable and needs to happen sooner rather than later. Capitals Stanley Cup Jerseys 2018 .Former Football NSW chairman ORourke was unveiled as Damien De Bohuns replacement by Football Federation Australia (FFA) on Thursday. Also a former operations director of PepsiCo Australia and New Zealand, ORourke is tasked with increasing the leagues commercial performance against the backdrop of negotiations for a crucial new broadcast deal.He said the top priority when he starts next month would be improving the financial security of all 10 existing clubs. Then he hopes to make the competition bigger to capture the excitement of fans and give other markets across Australia and New Zealand renewed hope they too can have a club to cheer for.I think an expansion of the number of teams is inevitable, and its exactly the right thing to do, ORourke said. The first step is to actually make sure the 10 teams we currently have are sustainable and can stand on their own feet.Theres no use in bringing new teams into a competition where some existing teams are still shaky.Once achieved ORourke said new clubs should be added sooner rather than later.Im not talking about next season necessarily, but that would be one of the primary things to focus on, he said.Id like to think its going to happen inside my tenure. To lay the foundations, ORourke will set about building relationships with clubs, an aspect somewhat strained during De Bohuns tenure.Part of that will be correcting the number of things wrong with the current approach to converting footballs massive participation numbers into A-League fans.My background is that I build relationships and they work, he said.Theres a lot more similarities between the corporate world and the football world than differences. Most people just want to be heard, most people want to be respected and want you to align to their brand.Theres no use FFA having a strategy thats not aligned with the clubs, and the clubs not being aligned to what the fans want.FFA chief executive David Gallop said ORourke possessed a unique blend of financial and leadership experience and a love of the game, evidenced through previous roles as Football NSW chairman and president of Sutherland Shire Football Association. It was why he got the job ahead of numerous other applicants including experienced overseas administrators running European leagues, marketing and TV executives and senior figures within the AFL and NRL.Its understood Perth chief executive Peter Filopoulos was also in the running.People who had run leagues or are running leagues overseas obviously had an appeal to us as well because of the direct parallel, Gallop said. But understanding the Australian sporting and corporate landscape, and appreciating were in a competitive environment, meant a local candidate came out on top. The ordeal was also a blow to Brazilians, who for months endured scrutiny about whether the city could keep athletes and tourists safe given its long history of violence. No robbery was committed against these athletes. They were not victims of the crimes they claimed, Civil Police Chief Fernando Veloso said during a news conference. The police account came in direct contrast to claims from Lochtes attorney earlier in the week. The attorney, Jeff Ostrow, had insisted the swimmer had nothing to gain by making the story up. He, as well as Lochtes father and agent, did not return phone calls seeking comment. The swimmers could potentially face punishment -- probation, suspension, a fine or expulsion -- under USA Swimmings code of conduct. It was not clear if the swimmers would face criminal charges, though police said the athletes could be charged with destruction of property, falsely reporting a crime or both. Two of the swimmers -- Gunnar Bentz and Jack Conger -- checked in to a flight out of Brazil late Thursday after a judge lifted the order seizing their passports and keeping them in the country. They had testified about the incident earlier in the day, and Brazilians chanted liar as they left the police building. They did not lie in their statements. They never lied to journalists. They only stayed quiet. They did not know what was going on, attorney Sergio Riera said. The last swimmer in Rio, Jimmy Feigen, provided an updated statement to police, U.S. Olympic officials said, and hoped to get his passport back shortly to return home. The saga began when Lochte claimed that he and his teammates were held at gunpoint and robbed several hours after the last Olympic swimming races ended. But police then said they didnt have evidence to substantiate the story. Their passports were ordered seized so the investigation could continue, but Lochte had already left the country. While some details in the official account of the story changed on Thursday -- police first said no guns were involved, then said two guards pointed weapons at the swimmers -- security video confirmed the athletes vandalized parts of the gas station, leading to an encounter with station employees. The closed-circuit video shows one of the swimmers pulling a sign off of a wall and dropping it onto the ground. A gas station worker arrives, and other workers inspect the damage. Veloso said the swimmers broke a door, a soap dispenser and a mirror. The swimmers eventually talk with station workers as their cab leaves. As they talk, two of the swimmers briefly raise their hands and all four sit down on a curb. After a few minutes, the swimmers stand up and appear to exchange something -- perhaps cash, as police said -- with one of the men.The footage doesnt show a weapon, but a police official speaking on condition of anonymity because the investigation was ongoing said two guards pointed guns during the encounter. Veloso said the guards did not use excessive force and would have been justified in drawing their weapons because the athletes were conducting themselves in a violent way. Gold Steelers Jerseys. station employee called police, and the guards and employees tried to get the swimmers and the taxi driver to stay until authorities arrived, some even offering to help interpret between English and Portuguese, Veloso said. But he said the athletes wanted to leave, so paid 100 Brazilian reals (about US $33) and $20 in U.S. currency and left.Conger and Bentz told authorities that the story of the robbery had been fabricated, said the police official who spoke to the AP about the guns.Police said the swimmers were unable to provide key details in early interviews, saying they had been intoxicated. The police official said officers grew suspicious when security video showed the swimmers returning to the athletes village wearing watches, which would have likely been taken in a robbery. We got pulled over, in the taxi, and these guys came out with a badge, a police badge, no lights, no nothing just a police badge and they pulled us over, Lochte told NBCs Today the morning after the incident. They pulled out their guns, they told the other swimmers to get down on the ground -- they got down on the ground. I refused, I was like we didnt do anything wrong, so -- Im not getting down on the ground. And then the guy pulled out his gun, he cocked it, put it to my forehead and he said, `Get down, and I put my hands up, I was like `whatever. He took our money, he took my wallet -- he left my cellphone, he left my credentials.Lochte backed off some of those claims as the week went on, saying the taxi wasnt pulled over, and that the athletes were robbed after stopping at a gas station. Lochte also said a man pointed a gun toward him, but not at his head. The swimmers did not call police, authorities said, and officers only began investigating after they saw news coverage with Lochtes mother speaking about the incident. Lochte also said the swimmers didnt initially tell U.S. Olympic officials what happened because we were afraid wed get in trouble. While hes medaled often, Lochtes accomplishments have long been overshadowed by teammate Michael Phelps -- the most decorated Olympian in history. Lochte, a 12-time medalist, won a gold in Rio in a relay race alongside Phelps. The robbery debacle prompted both wild speculation and social media mockery, which quickly turned to scorn after the official account went public. (hash)LochteGate trended on Twitter, with users sharing video footage and posting comments about white privilege and rude Americans. Memes mocking the Lochte lie proliferated almost immediately.David Fleischer, a political scientist at the University of Brasilia, said the incident touched a nerve in Brazil because of the countrys history and cases of people committing crimes while impersonating police. The story did have some sense of validity but it didnt bear out and it made them look bad worldwide, he said.---AP reporters Beth Harris, Chris Lehourites, Pauline Arrillaga and Renata Brito in Rio de Janeiro, and Steve Reed in Charlotte, North Carolina, contributed to this report.---This story has been corrected to reflect that the lawyer for two of the swimmers is Sergio Riera, not Sergio Viegas.
