The new general manager of the Edmonton Eskimos says theyve checked most of the items off their must-do list as they prepare for the 2013 CFL season. Belgium Matz Sels World Cup Jersey . "Retaining the services of coach Kavis Reed was the No. 1 factor on that list," said Hervey, who got the nod after former general manager Eric Tillman got the boot in 2012. Hervey also pointed to steps made to bolster an offence that left the Eskimos last in the West last season. One of the first was to obtain the services of quarterback Mike Reilly from the B.C. Lions before he hit the free-agent market. After Tillman traded Ricky Ray to Toronto, the Eskimos struggled at quarterback with Stephen Jyles, Kerry Joseph and Matt Nichols rotating through the position. Reilly isnt guaranteed the starters spot, Hervey emphasized, and must go head-to-head with Nichols to win that right, but he gives the team more options. "We felt by obtaining Mike Reilly it would give us depth at that position which has (also) now created, in our opinion, a fine quarterback battle between he and Matt Nichols." Hervey also says theyve complemented the explosive scatback style of Hugh Charles with signings like that of import John White, better suited to take over should Charles go down again. Theyre the same size and the team will be able to maintain the same style of ground game, said Hervey. Edmonton did make the playoffs thanks to weak Eastern teams that allowed for a crossover but fell victim to Ray and the Toronto Argonauts in the East semifinal. Hervey said theyve worked to bolster the offensive line with moves such as a trade with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats for the services of non-import Carson Rockhill. "We felt that our need (was) to get bigger, more physical and more athletic on the offensive line. (It) was an area we needed to improve." He said they made it a priority to retain key free agents such as linebacker J.C. Sherritt and defensive end Marcus Howard and locked up slotback Fred Stamps early. They also nabbed free agent Odell Willis from under the nose of the Saskatchewan Roughriders, minutes after he supposedly hit the market, which earned them a $10,000 fine from the CFL for tampering. "We feel the need to get to the quarterback was important," said Hervey. Willis has a talent for sacking quarterbacks but he also has a reputation for off-field behaviour that cost him his job with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Unlike the Bombers, the Eskimos arent getting a new stadium this season, but President Len Rhodes says fans will be getting new seats. All 58,000 will be replaced at Commonwealth as the season progresses but the last wont go into until the fall, he said. Hervey says the team not only wanted to improve its roster for 2013, it wanted to improve its draft position. The Eskimos couldnt get into the first round but did acquire defensive end Stefan Charles with the 10th pick. Like a lot of top draft picks this season, hes still trying chances in the NFL but Hervey says good players are worth the wait. The Eskimos have made some coaching changes for 2013 with the return of CFL veterans Greg Marshall and Doug Sams. Marshall has taken over as defensive co-ordinator while Sams is the new offensive co-ordinator. Marshall goes back to the early part of the last decade with the Eskimos but Sams dates back to the 1987 Grey Cup-winning edition. In one manner of thinking, the BCS and the College Football Playoff transformed college football from a regional to a national sport. The outcome of the Michigan-Wisconsin game Saturday has an impact on the Stanford-Washington winner and every other school in the hunt for one of four playoff berths. But with so many of its heroes, college football remains regional. Witness the deaths this week of former Nebraska offensive line coach Milt Tenopir, 76, and Iowa quarterback Randy Duncan, 79.Tenopir was the foreman of the assembly line that cranked out one All-American after another during head coach Tom Osbornes glory years. Duncan led the Hawkeyes to the 1958 Big Ten championship and the Rose Bowl, and finished second in the Heisman vote to Army back Pete Dawkins. Green Bay selected Duncan with the first pick of the 1959 NFL draft. He spurned the Packers for three years in the CFL, after which he went to law school. But he was forever a Hawkeye hero.If you want to know how current and former Huskers players felt about Tenopir, read Dirk Chatelains story in the Omaha World-Herald about the coachs last days. Prepare to be choked up.1. It has been 14 years since weve had three games that matched AP top-10 opponents, and the list of those games illustrates how much the power structure has changed since 2002. No. 1 Miami defeated No. 9 Florida State, the Hurricanes 28th consecutive victory in a string that reached 34; No. 2 Oklahoma defeated No. 3 Texas 35-24, the third of five straight Sooner victories in that rivalry, and remember how Mack Brown couldnt win the big one? He put that canard to rest in 2005; and No. 6 Georgia, under second-year coach Mark Richt, beat No. 10 Tennessee 18-13 in a game that served as a springboard for the Bulldogs to end their longest SEC championship drought (20 years) in school history.2. Likewise, two of this weeks three top-10 matchups could have a lasting impact on this season. If No. 3 Louisville wins at No. 5 Clemson, the Cardinals will have beaten their top two competitors in the ACC Atlantic (they embarrassed Florida State 63-20 two weeks ago). Given Oregons struggles, the game between No. 7 Stanford and No. 10 Washington will anoint the front-runner in the Pac-12 North. But since No. 8 Wisconsin and No. 4 Michigan are in different divisions of the Big Ten, the outcome of their game will take a back seat to the teams head-to-head matchup against whichever divisional foe challenges them.3. One last note about the demise of LSU head coach Les Miles, fired because the Tigers couldnt keep up with the Alabama dynasty coached by his predecessor, Nick Saban. Contrast Miles unwillingness to change the Tigers offense to the evolution that the Crimson Tide has undergone during the Saban Decade. Saban has gotten smaller and quicker on defense. He has said that Terrence Cody, the 6-foot-4, 345-pound two-time All-American defensive tackle, wouldnt fit in the current Tide defense. And after beeginning in Tuscaloosa with a pro-style offense, Saban and coordinator Lane Kiffin have spread the field with running-passing freshman Jalen Hurts in charge. Golden Knights Stanley Cup Jerseys 2018. .4. As the Big 12 dithers over whether to expand, and it looks increasingly as if the league couldnt get eight votes to decide that today is Thursday, Houston is making a compelling case for an invitation. Members of a conference want a new member to carry its own weight in the marketplace. And Houston is doing that in its home TV market. Since Texas A&M bolted to the SEC, so has the Houston TV market. SEC games made up six of the top 10 football telecasts last season in Houston. But this season, the Cougars game against Oklahoma on Sept. 3 had a 12.8 rating in Houston, and the Thursday night game against Cincinnati on Sept. 15 had a 6.78. Those are big numbers.5. The top talents among the 156 semifinalists for the Campbell Trophy, the Academic Heisman awarded by the National Football Foundation, include at least three compelling stories: BYU sixth-year, oft-injured quarterback Taysom Hill, Duke corner DeVon Edwards, who just tore his left ACL and MCL on Saturday, and Syracuse tight end Cameron MacPherson, the grandson of College Football Hall of Fame coach Dick MacPherson. The NFF will name on Nov. 1 the 12 to 14 finalists, each of whom will receive an $18,000 postgraduate scholarship. The Campbell Trophy winner, named at the Hall of Fame dinner on Dec. 6, receives an additional $7,000 grant.6. Penn State is still suffering the effects of the NCAA scholarship penalties. You can judge that by the scoreboard, where the Nittany Lions are 0-2 against Power 5 opponents, including a 49-10 loss at Michigan on Saturday as one-sided as it appears. Or you can judge that by the comments of Penn State head coach James Franklin at his weekly media conference on Tuesday. Their (\[defensive] front is big, strong and physical, and we did not handle that well, Franklin said. Defensively, I think were playing hard; however, we need to be more physical up front. To paraphrase Franklin, Penn State isnt as talented as Michigan. And undefeated Minnesota (3-0) comes to State College on Saturday.7. Georgia Tech (3-1, 0-1) already has won as many games this season as it did last, but the 26-7 loss at Clemson last Thursday night, when Tech gained only 124 yards, illustrated how head coach Paul Johnson hasnt solved his offensive woes. Johnsons option attack at its best chews up yardage and clock in big chunks, which is to say, the statistic that most reveals Georgia Techs struggles is time of possession. The Yellow Jackets rank 61st in the FBS, averaging 29:38 per game. Thats four-plus minutes fewer than in 2014, the year that Georgia Tech won the ACC Coastal. The Yellow Jackets finished third in the FBS that season, averaging 34:09 per game.                                       Pekka Rinne is feeling good. Air Max 98 Supreme For Sale . Not surprisingly, the Nashville Predators are winning hockey games. The Nashville goalie, who was named the NHLs First Star of November after going 9-1-2 with a 1.49 goals-against average and a .949 save percentage, looks to put his team over the .500 mark for the first time since opening night when they host the New Jersey Devils in a Saturday matinee.November marked the lowest goals-against average and save percentage in any month of Rinnes career, which is saying something considering hes a five-time All-Star. Whats more, Rinnes play is quieting critics that popped up after a down season in 2015-16, as well as during a 2-5-1 October. We all feel good, we all feel weve come together as a team, he said after Tuesday nights 5-3 win in Colorado. Its a good feeling in the locker room right now. Theres been a few injuries, but weve had guys step in and thats a good sign. Well need that all season.Backing up Rinnes point, the Predators (11-8-3) won Tuesday night without top goal-scorer James Neal (upper-body injury), top four defenseman Ryan Ellis (upper-body injury) and center Colton Sissons (upper-body injury). Whats more, they lost third-pairing defenseman Anthony Bitetto Tuesday night to a broken hand that will sideline him for six weeks. But Nashville got a goal and an assist from center Ryan Johansen, whos hit his stride after a slow start offensively, two assists from defenseman Roman Josi and a Gordie Howe hat trick -- goal, assist, fighting major -- from fourth-line forward Austin Watson.Coach Peter Laviolette was particularly pleased with the effort of Watson, who when playing well is the kind of depth forward every good team needs. He was great, he was physical, he was good defensively, his line played really well. He had a big game, Laviolette said of Watson. Whether its offensively or defensively, hes been out there just trying to make a difference. While the Predators shoot for their seventh straight win in Bridgestone Arena, where theyre 8-1-1 this season, New Jersey (10-7-6) attempts to avoid a seventh straight road defeat. The Devils fell 4-3 in overtime Thursday night against Chicago despite a hat trick from center Travis Zajac.New Jersey went toe-to-toe with one of the leagues best teams, matching the Blackhawks 33 shots, winning 55 percent of the faceoffs and out-hitting them 20-14.For the most part, we played a game that we are proud of, said Devils left winger Taylor Hall, who returned Thursday night after an eight-game absence. RIO DE JANEIRO -- Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti acknowledged Saturday that the results of Novembers U.S. presidential election could weigh heavily on his citys chances of hosting the 2024 Olympics, saying that a victory by Donald Trump could turn off IOC voters. In an exclusive interview with The Associated Press, Garcetti also said Los Angeles could offer the last best hope for the United States to host the Summer Olympics again before the American people begin tuning out from the games.Garcetti, a 45-year-old Democrat and supporter of Hillary Clinton, is in Brazil to observe the Rio de Janeiro Games and pitch his citys bid to members of the International Olympic Committee. One of the main topics of conversation with IOC delegates has been the U.S. election -- and the prospects of a Trump presidency.I think for some of the IOC members they would say, `Wait a second, can we go to a country like that, where weve heard things that we take offense to? Garcetti said. But I think that gives us even more urgency globally, where we can say, `This is something that is a different strength maybe than the things that youve heard or the things you believe. I think we continue no matter what the outcome of the election is.A new U.S. president will be in office when the IOC selects the 2024 host city in September 2017. Los Angeles, which hosted the Olympics in 1932 and 1984, is competing with Paris, Rome and Budapest, Hungary.Everything that were going through right now in the United States politically, I dont want us to be a country that turns into itself, said Garcetti, who spoke at the Democratic convention in Philadelphia last month. I think we have to look outward to the world. The IOCs 98 members come from all over the world, and Trumps comments on Mexicans, Muslims and other issues wont encourage them to vote for a U.S. city. They wonder, `Is America going to take this strange turn? Garcetti said. Were there to be an election result that is less international, more inward focused, maybe theres even greater urgency to a bid like this. But even if that doesnt happen, even the threat of that, the talk of that, the idea that we exclude people based on who they are at our borders, gives us urgency to having things like the Olympics underscore who we are and what were about.Los Angeles bid chairman Casey Wasserman said the city will continue to push the bid on its own technical merits.I dont think you can judge a country by who runs for president, he said. I think you should judge a country on who is the president and their beliefs and their policies. And clearly thats something the members will take into account. But thats something I cant control.Los Angeles is seeking to bring the Summer Olympics back to the U.S. for the first time since Atlanta hosted the 1996 Games. The bid follows failed attempts by New York and Chicago for the 2012 and 2016 Olympics, respectively.I dont know if this is the last best hope, but I do think that after a few bids, after a while, there will be real feeliing of people tuning out in America, a new generation that isnt connected with the legacy sports, said Garcetti, who attended Rios opening ceremony on Friday night, 32 years after going to the close of the 84 Games as a 13-year-old. Cheap Colombia Jerseys 2018. Recent American bids have suffered from anti-U.S. sentiment among some members in the European-dominated IOC, and Garcetti said he is working to change that. There may be a general anti-Americanism but once you create a relationship with somebody, it becomes a relationship with Eric and that person, he said. As we get to know each other over time, they realize you cant slap a title, just like `American and a caricature of what that means on anybody.I want to listen, Garcetti said. I dont want to just come in and say, `Were the Americans, we get the most medals, we bring in the sponsorships. That turns people off.He acknowledged there could be a backlash among some IOC members to what they consider U.S. meddling in global sports affairs, including the Justice Department investigation of world soccer body FIFA and the U.S. Anti-Doping Agencys call for a total ban on Russias Olympic team over state-sponsored doping.Ive been very careful to say, `Look, what prosecutors or anti-doping officials do, at least in our country, is completely separate from what a mayor or a city government is about. Were not involved at all.On other issues, Garcetti:- encouraged Rome to remain in the 2024 race despite current opposition from new mayor Virginia Raggi, who says the city has bigger priorities at the moment. Garcetti said he has been in touch with Raggis office to urge Rome to stay in.You can fix your problems first, but that doesnt mean you have to exclude great opportunities like the Olympics, he said.- embraced the five new sports approved by the IOC for the 2020 Tokyo Games -- baseball/softball, surfing, skateboarding, karate and sport climbing. While they have been added for Tokyo only, Garcetti said he would hope they could also be included in Los Angeles.Skateboarding and surfing, those are synonymous with LA, he said. If were lucky enough to win, I would absolutely see us continuing those sports.- confirmed that the new NFL stadium being built for the Los Angeles Rams would be used for the Olympics if the city wins the bid. Rams owner Stan Kroenke is helping to build a new $2.6 billion retractable roof stadium in Inglewood, California, scheduled to be completed in 2019.The new stadium could be considered for hosting the opening and closing ceremonies. The Coliseum would host the track and field competition.Weve not yet defined how well use the stadium but were very excited to use the stadium, Garcetti said.                                       Niki Lauda says Nico Rosbergs late Q3 lap for second on the grid in Mexico was unbelievable given the really worrying position he found himself in during qualifyings early stages. Tarvarius Moore Jersey .?After struggling for pace and with tyre warm-up through the weekend, Rosberg could only manage fourth with the initial runs in Q3. Though the three drivers ahead of him did not improve at the end of the session, Rosberg did, shaving 0.3s off his time to jump ahead of the Red Bull drivers. That puts him second for the grand prix, alongside Lewis Hamilton, who he leads in the championship by 33 points and can beat to the title this weekend. Lauda thinks Rosbergs comfortable championship position would have been under threat without that late lap.Lewis was perfect, Lauda told Sky Sports F1. Nico was really worrying for his own sake because he would have started further back. And if Hamilton wins, the championship goes further away. But then he got that lap in the end. It was unbelievable and he is on the front row. After qualifying Rosberg admitted he had taken longer than usual to get up to speed with tyre warm-up for his crucial laps. Lauda suggests he took a more conservative approach to qualifying than Hamilton. He could not get the car balance, its very simple. He did not get the right grip level into the tyres, which happened to his car.Lewis was more aggressive going out and with a little bit more temperature he got the car going quicker around the circuit. Nico could not get his tyres into the [right] tyre window but in the last lap he did. Kentavius Street Jersey . "We have always prided ourselves on the way we play defence. Tom Herman was officially named the head coach of the University of Texas football program this past weekend. It was the culmination of an amazing rise to the top for Herman, who was a graduate assistant for the Longhorns in 1999 and 2000.But to understand exactly how far Herman has come, one must go back to 1998, when he got his start coaching wide receivers for Division III Texas Lutheran University.Having no ties to the coaching community, Herman hopped in his 1994 Honda Civic (without power steering) and drove 1,428 miles from his college, California Lutheran in Thousand Oaks, California, to Seguin, Texas, where the 23-year-old found himself coaching for a school that was resurrecting a football program after a decade.?The following is an oral history of the 1998 Texas Lutheran team and Hermans role in it, as told by coaches, players and personnel.?The offer Bryan Marmion, head coach: I was the defensive coordinator at California Lutheran when Tom played there. I got the job at TLU to rebuild the program from scratch. I knew Tom as a guy who had a crazy work ethic. When he stopped playing, I knew he would funnel that insatiable appetite that he had into coaching. I didnt have much money. We had two full-time coaches and a bunch of retired Texas high school coaches working part-time for us.We offered Tom $5,000 a year, and I got him a meal card that would give him a meal on campus. I also got a deal for him and another coach to live in an apartment.David Lyons, running back/kick returner: I did well on my SATs, and so I had grants that were being paid to me. When I heard Tom got $5,000, I realized that I, as a player, probably got cut checks worth more than that.Kevin Richardson, equipment manager: It will go down that he was paid $5,000. He didnt net $5,000. He finished that season in the hole, Im pretty sure. When he was on the road recruiting he was paying for hotel rooms out of his own pocket, and they might have not been reimbursed. The apartment was nothing special. It was a two-bedroom in downtown Seguin behind an HEB [grocery]. Tom had the typical relics from his football days. It looked more like a college kids apartment than a coachs place, since he was right out of school.Hermans potential back thenBrandon Parrott, wide receiver: He would ask questions, and it wasnt just to get the answers he wanted. He did it because he wanted to know, as a receiver, what you were thinking, so that he could then better coach you. He was meticulous back then, and he was only a year older than me.David Lyons, running back/kick returner: Hed be picking our brains nonstop. He would say, Now what happens if the defense showed you this? How would you change your route if this was the look? He was basically our age, but he was so far ahead of what we knew, what we could see.John Bland, wide receiver: When I first met Coach Herman, he was so fired up and had more energy than any of us, I thought he was just weird and crazy. But then I got to know him and came to realize his genius. He would show us these ball tricks that none of us could do. And even though he had 11, 12, 13 knee surgeries, he would line up and guys would jam him, and there was no way to stop him from catching the ball.Mike Walters, wide receiver: As the season went on, he started to have more and more influence over the plays being run because he was so good.Tom Herman, the young recruiterDavid Lyons, running back/kick returner: Coach Herman was one of the guys that recruited me for that first year. What struck me about him was his interpersonal skills. He would get on the phone with you each week and build on the conversation from the week before. He truly paid attention to you and remembered everything.Kevin Richardson, equipment manager: You could tell he was really connecting to the kids, even back then. He not only had this energy, but he remembered their names, their stats and even things he had seen in their game film.Mike Walters, wide receiver: When Coach Herman started recruiting me, I had never heard of Texas Lutheran. I lived in Fort Worth, which was about four-and-a-half hours away from campus. I was upset that I wasnt going to get the scholarship I had hoped for, but then came Coach Herman with so much energy, calling me once every couple of weeks.Hermans 1994 Honda CivicBrandon Parrott, wide receiver: I remember one day, Tom was firing up the car and there was a big oil leak, and there was smoke coming out the back.Kevin Richardson, equipment manager: I went on a recruiting trip with him to Corpus Christi since thats where I was from. We were blessed that there was a cold front, and it was kind of cool, because Im pretty sure the air conditioning didnt work in his car.On the roadRonnie Canedo, scout team QB: Our first road game was at McPherson College in Kansas. That was the worst field I had ever seen. There were backyards that were better than that. Weeds growing everywhere, and I remember the locker rooms had three showerheads, and we were ankle deep in dirty water.John Bland, wide receiver: When we get to Kansas, its time for us to practice, and the practice field was a cow pasture -- divots all over the place and grass taller thhan our ankles. 49ers Jerseys Shop. Kevin Richardson, equipment manager: Our second road trip, we didnt even stay at a hotel. We took a bus at 6 in the morning to Austin College in Sherman, Texas, got there at 11, walked the field, got dressed, played the game, showered, and 40 minutes later we were doing the five-hour drive home.David Lyons, running back/kick returner: It wasnt glamorous. When we were on the road, it was mostly fast food. Our first trip to Oklahoma, I remembered we each got a couple things at Carls Jr.Rick Roswell, head athletic trainer: We were at a fast food joint and Coach Marmion was handing out $5 to each kid to get something to eat, and he gets up to the three student trainers I had brought with me, and he says, I dont have enough money for you guys.Mike Walters, wide receiver: Eating at Golden Corral was a treat.John Bland, wide receiver: I remember going to Hardin-Simmons, where they had won titles. They beat us by more than 10 touchdowns [the score was 83-6]. And I remember every time they would score, which was a lot, the announcer in this soccer-goal voice would say, The Thunder Rolls! It was so annoying that I still cant forget it.The strugglesKevin Richardson, equipment manager: I was a junior, but I was the full-time equipment manager. They paid me $5 an hour, but I could only report 20 hours a week because thats all they could afford. I was really working 50 to 60 hours a week.Brandon Parrott, wide receiver: At Kansas, I was given a choice of three different pairs of wide receiver gloves. At Texas Lutheran, they told us they had none. So I literally had to go to Academy and buy myself some gloves.Ronnie Canedo, scout team QB: Our equipment was Reebok, but most of us liked Nike. So the guys who could afford it just bought our own stuff.Kevin Richardson, equipment manager: A lot of the Riddell pads that we had didnt fit the smaller guys. Tom gave one of our receivers, John Corbin, the pads he wore in college. Im not even sure they were legal to play with, but he did. But I would say 40 out of 120 of our guys bought or brought their own stuff to play with.Ronnie Canedo, scout team QB: We played our games at Seguin High School. A lot of us showed up from Texas high schools, where there would be 10,000 people, and we didnt even have our own stadium to play in.Brandon Parrott, wide receiver: I had transferred from Kansas, and I thought I had made a good move. But I scored a touchdown against Mississippi College, and I look up in the stands and there wasnt 500 people there.Mike Walters, wide receiver: Our home practice field was right across from the Tyson chicken plant. If the wind blew south, the smell -- which was like rotten eggs -- was so bad. In the beginning, we practiced three times a day. Guys were throwing up, not because of the conditioning, but because of the smell.Kevin Richardson, equipment manager: It was the wettest season in Texas in decades. We had one pair of light yellow game pants. It was almost impossible to keep those clean. In fact, for the pants that werent clean after the first go-around, Tom Herman was still in the office and he would go back and forth between watching game film and putting in the uniforms [in the washing machine] for a second time.Rick Roswell, head athletic trainer: There were some rainy games that year, and we didnt have any rain gear. We were black and gold, and I was on the sideline in my purple jacket from my playing days. The night before our first game, it rained at Seguin High School and tore up the entire field. The field wasnt good for the rest of the year.Herman leaves after first seasonTim Clark, sports information director: I remember Tom telling me that his mother would like the fact that he was in MENSA to be included in his next media guide bio. But he was gone before we ever got a chance to include it.Bryan Marmion, head coach: A guy named Jimmy Gonzalez was the football operations guy under Mack Brown at the time, and he was a TLU alum. The spot came open, and we had to let him go.Kevin Richardson, equipment manager: When he went to Texas after the 1998 season, I think the team was really devastated, because he was clearly our biggest source of energy.Mike Walters, wide receiver: I was a slow white guy who was undersized, who started every game beginning in my freshman year. I knew he was good, but I didnt realize how good he was until he left.Rick Roswell, head athletic trainer: A couple weeks after he left, we see a picture in the Austin American-Statesman of Tom on Ricky Williams float on a parade in Austin, and were all shaking our heads.David Lyons, running back/kick returner: I wouldnt have guessed that 15 or so years later, he would be orchestrating the offense for Ohio States national championship team, or a couple years later he would become head coach of Texas, but I knew, one day, he would be somewhere.Bryan Marmion, head coach: When I saw he got the Texas job, I went to the website and counted 52 jobs supporting the football team. Amazing to think about considering where we were in 1998. NFL Jerseys China Cheap Jerseys Wholesale NFL Jerseys China Jerseys Wholesale Jerseys NFL China Cheap Jerseys China China NFL Jerseys ' ' '

Jeter started the running program Thursday at Steinbrenner Field and called it "the last step" before playing in minor league games. The Yankees captain hopes to run the bases soon. "Everything is good," Jeter said. "No problems whatsoever. Ive done everything else. Its a constant progression." There is no date yet for Jeter to begin a minor league injury rehabilitation assignment. "As soon as I can get out there, Ill get out there," Jeter said. "We havent got that far yet." Jeter has been taking batting practice and fielding grounders. The 13-time All-Star hasnt played this season after breaking his ankle in the playoffs last October and having surgery. Another fracture was discovered during his first rehab in April. After the workout, which was moved due to wet grounds, Jeter drove teammate Alex Rodriguez back to the Yankees minor league complex from nearby Steinbrenner Field. Rodriguez is rehabbing following hip surgery in January. Jeter said "of course" when asked if Rodriguez will be a productive player when he rejoins the Yankees. The star third baseman posted Tuesday evening on Twitter that his hip surgeon had cleared him to play in rehab games, a move that angered general manager Brian Cashman because Rodriguez has not been cleared by team doctors yet. "Why would he be a distraction?" Jeter said. "You guys may be a distraction to him, if you ask him questions. Ive never seen how someone could be a distraction to a team because we dont have to deal with it." Rodriguez continued to take simulated at-bats. "He looked good," Jeter said. "Alex works extremely hard. Hes working hard now to get back." Rodriguez did not stop to talk with reporters when he left the complex.                                       Brooks Koepka already knows the sting of losing in the Ryder Cup. Clayton Stoner Jersey .And he hasnt even played in one yet.The lone rookie on this American team, Koepka was keeping the wrong company during the last two losses. He was just starting his career on the Challenge Tour, coming off consecutive missed cuts in Kazakhstan and France when he broke through for a three-shot victory in the Catalunya Challenge in Spain. That was the same day the Americans took a 10-6 lead into the final day at Medinah, only for Europe to produce the greatest comeback by a visiting team.I remember I was in some little tapas restaurant, Koepka said. There was maybe five people in there, and I can remember eating and watching it unfold. It gets worse. Two years later, the 26-year-old Floridian won the Turkish Airlines Open in his first full season, and he was honored as the European Tour rookie of the year. The awards banquet took place at the end of the year at Wentworth, a celebration of European success.Just his luck, it was a Ryder Cup year.Europe was coming off a much easier victory, this time at Gleneagles in Scotland. The team was the toast of the banquet. They were all talking about it, and it drove me nuts. I couldnt stand it, Koepka said. The room was filled with Europeans. They had their whole team, Sir Alex Ferguson was there. It was pretty cool. But I got really tired of watching it.At least this time, hell be in good company. And instead of being in front of a TV in Spain or in a banquet room in England, hell have golf clubs in his hands at Hazeltine National as the Americans try to reverse two decades of mostly losing. How he responds is one of the unknowns for the U.S. team, mainly because Koepka is new to all of this. No one doubts his powerful play that put him on a fast track after starting on a slow road. After beating a strong field in Turkey, he won his first PGA Tour event three months later in the Waste Management Phoenix Open.Koepka isnt sure what to expect, so perhaps winning at the rowdiest event on the PGA Tour will help.Everyone has told me its going to be amped up, he said of the Ryder Cup, which starts Friday. I kind of have this picture of 16 at Waste Management -- like that, only everywhere. Thats probably the closest thing to it.Koepka, who is No. 22 in the world, secured his spot on the team by returning from an ankle injury to tie for fourth in the PGA Championship.Hes great to pair with anybody, because who wouldnt want to play with Brooks as far as he hits it? U.S. captain Davis Love III said. Watching Europe celebrate two years ago ... really motivated him to make the team. Hes going to add a lot of youthful enthusiasm and a lot of power to our team. His caddie, Ricky Elliott, is from Northern Ireland. Koepka is close with Rory McIlroy. He has lots of friends in Europe from his three years of playing there, and he wouldnt trade his experiences. But when it came to hearing about the Ryder Cup, it got a little old.Im really excited, he said. I know my face doesnt show it, but its hard to get excitement out of me. I went to the beach on Jan. 1 at 8 in the morning and wrote a bunch of goals down, and the Ryder Cup was one of them. That was nice to cross off.He has checked off plenty of goals along the way.The Florida State alum tied with Jordan Spieth in the second stage of PGA Tour qualifying in 2012, but both missed out on advancing. Their routes were entirely different. Spieth received sponsor exemptions on the Web.com Tour in South America, and then cashed in on a sponsors exemption to the Puerto Rico Open, where he tied for second. He ended the year with a PGA Tour victory, a chance to win the FedEx Cup team and a spot on the Presidents Cup team at age 20.Koepka got out his passport and traveled more miles that he cares to count.Jordan was really talented coming out, and he deserved all that, Koepka said. I wasnt high-profile. I had a place to play, so I figured I could get from the Challenge Tour to the European Tour to here.He already knows what its like to be the lone rookie. During a Ryder Cup team gathering at the home of the New England Patriots earlier this month, players were going to hit shots to a target at Gillette Stadium. Zach Johnson handed Koepka the bucket of balls and told him it was his job to carry it as the rookie.I carried it around for 45 minutes, Koepka said. I couldnt care less.
