Bad weather 'most likely' caused the death of paragliders Robert Lithgow and Bruce Ottoway
On May 18, 2013, father of four and part time pastor Robert Lithgow was instructing Bruce Ottoway, a 66 year old retiree from Victor Harbor, and a second man, replica van cleef pearl necklace, Peter Evezard, in hang gliding .
But first Mr Lithgow, an experienced pilot, took Mr Ottoway for a joy flight in a tandem paraglider from Flaxman Hill near Nirranda.
Searching the Hang Gliding Federation Australia website, Mr Evezard noticed a warning to Flaxman Hill flyers that there were no beach landings to the east and advice to not fly off sheer cliffs if the wind was light or likely to drop off.
He contacted Rob Van Der Klooster, then the federation's contact for Flaxman Hill, who raised the alarm with emergency services and the doomed search began.
In his findings, Mr Byrne said bad weather most likely caused the accident, despite a request from Mr Ottoway's son Arron to find that Mr Lithgow was negligent and responsible for the death of his father.
"I am not comfortably satisfied Mr Lithgow intentionally undertook a potentially dangerous course putting himself and his passenger in danger. I reiterate he may have been a victim of weather events," Mr Byrne said.
In a letter to the coroner, Arron Ottowoy said the hang gliding federation had also been negligent in the management of Mr Lithgow, who had been subject of a previous complaint from a trainee.
"Had I clear evidence of recklessness, replica van cleef necklace butterfly, or even failure to comply with operational standards, van cleef and arpels imitation necklace, a wider investigation of these matters would have been permissible, but no compelling evidence of such is available," Mr Byrne said.
Mr Lithgow's wife strongly defended her husband, but also made an extraordinary claim that Mr Ottoway orchestrated his own disappearance to form a new identity.
"One can understand Ms Lithgow's grief following the death of her husband which obviously has deeply impacted upon her," Mr Byrne said.
"Being as sensitive as I believe I can in the circumstances, I reject Mrs Lithgow's contention as fanciful at best, replica van cleef gold clover necklace, inflammatory at worst."
He strongly supported a recommendation that all pilots carry personal GPS trackers and emergency location beacons.
Mr Byrne said an investigation by a former federation member into the previous complaint against Mr Lithgow was substandard, but it did not contribute to the deaths.

An Easy and Permanent Fix for Older Car Door Seals, van cleef necklace replica wholesale
In many older cars the rubber door seals don't seal the way they should. Often the seals have pulled away from the door frame and leave gaps between the frame and the seal, almost always in the corners. This lets in cold or hot air, sometimes water and almost always excess noise. So many older cars have a noisier, drafty ride because the seals are not tight.
Many people think that the reason for the seals not staying in the frame is that they have come unglued. They will often try to glue them back in place but the seals will not stay there. That is because they are not glued in to begin with. The door seals are held in place by simple pressure. When the rubber seals get older the rubber shrinks, the older the seal the greater the shrinking. As it shrinks it pulls away from the door frame almost always at one of the corners. No matter how much glue you use you will not get the seal to stay in place because the seal is now to small to fit the opening. But there is a simple and very cheap fix for the problem that is permanent. You have to make the door seal bigger. Its a lot easier to do than you might think.
The first thing to do to fix the problem is find the seam were the seal is joined, van cleef knock off flower necklace. This will almost always be located under the plastic sill that protects the bottom of the door frame. Pry the sill up and off to get access, van cleef replica necklaces. If yours is screwed down then remove the screws. Most have plastic connectors that go into holes in the floor and they are just pressed in place. They should pull up easily.
Once you have that out of the way you should see the place where the deal is joined. It will probable look like it has been glued or fused together. This is the easiest place to cut the seal. Most of these seals have a metal component running through them to make them rigid and cutting it can be hard. The seam has no metal so you can slice it through with a razor knife or a pair of heavy duty scissors.
After you have cut it you can push the seal back into the door frame corners where it is supposed to be. Sometimes it easiest to pull a section off and then start at the top pushing it back tight working your way back to where you cut it. Now you will be able to see how much your seal has shrunk.
Find an extra chunk of door seal, a foot or so will do. You can get this from a junk yard or from another car even. You can also buy seals but they are expensive. I took a piece out of a a minivan that is used as a parts car. The best one to get is one that matches your car. If you can't get that then try and get one that is a close match. Door seals can be difficult to cut because of the metal pieces in it. I used a pair of tin snips to cut mine. Really heavy duty scissors might work also. A knife will only cut the rubber. A hack saw will work but its a little more effort.
After you get your seal material figure out how much to cut to fill the gap. First make sure the seal is pushed completely into the door frame. Next mark on your chunk of seal where to cut. Make it BIGGER than the gap by about a half inch. This way when you put it in place it will push against the rest of the door seal and help to force it to stay in place.
Push the piece you cut into the gap and hammer it down with your hand. You should not have to do it very hard. It goes in pretty easily. You don't need to use any type of glue since the pressure will and the sill cover will keep it in place.
Step 3: All Sealed Up, Now Do the Rest of the Doors.
After you get the filler piece in place put the plastic sill cover back on. Again just a hit with your palm should be enough to snap it in place.
And that is it. Your door seal is now tight and will stay in place for years until it shrinks some more. If,van cleef & arpels replica necklace, when, that happens just put in a bigger filler piece.
Now how come the car makers don't make seals so you can add spacers to them? It would be an easy source of income for them to sell DIY spacers that people could just pop into place and seal up their doors. Oh, wait, that would mean they would be keeping the cars until they were older and not buying new ones. Never mind.
Do this same procedure for all the doors of your car. If one has shrunk then they all have shrunk.
Enjoy the quieter ride.
I saw this and thought YAY just the thing! But I looked at my Ford 500 gasket which has come loose, and it is one continuous piece, no joint and no on the bottom. Do you suppose silicone adhesive would hold it in place?
The main purpose of the threshold, as far as I know is to keep the seal from getting torn up from being constantly stepped on. It is likely that if you glue the seal in place it will last for a little while and then pull loose again. I would cut it at a spot where it is easy to expand it and then reseat it and see how much it has shrunk. You can use rubber cement or the stuff for repairing tires to glue in a small expansion piece. You will end up with a patched seal but it should fit tight again. It doesn sound like this will work for me, what do you think? Any suggestions?
This will work for you. After removing the plastic piece at the bottom, I found that my rubber seal was not a continuous piece, and that the plastic just holds the ends tightly in place. With the plastic remove, I could start at the top that kept falling down and just work the rubber seal up and around the entire door. Replacing the plastic bottom now holds the ends in place with the seal seated tight all the way around the door. Give it a try.
For 5 years I have just been pushing the seal back up when It started to pull away. I read your article, and today I removed the plastic bottom part and found that it actually holds the ends of the seal tightly in place. With the plastic off, I started at the loosest spot and pulled the rubber seal up and around the entire opening until it seated completely. I replaced the plastic, and it now holds the rubber tight all the way around. Presto! Thank you so much!
Is it OK that there is now a gap in the rubber at the bottom?
If it is a big gap I would try and fill it. Most likely it will not bother anything since it is covered by the plastic sill but it might let a little dust and noise it. Much less than if its pulled away from the frame. So given the choice, in my opinion, its better to have the seal in the correct place with a gap at the bottom than no gap but the seal pulled away from the frame.

22:24 Haryana bans 'The Legend of Michael Mishra': Haryana government today banned the screening of the Hindi film 'The Legend of Michael Mishra' in the state for a period of eight weeks.
A decision to this effect was taken in view of the reports that there was resentment among members of the Valmiki community regarding some objectionable utterances in a part of the film, an official spokesman said.
This order would remain in force for eight weeks until further orders, he said.
The film, produced by Kishore Arora and directed by Munish Jha, was slated to be released today.
He said the government had received information that certain organisations and individuals were protesting against the exhibition of the film, as the lead actor Arshad Warsi in a particular scene utters "objectionable words" which have the potential to outrage the religious feelings of the community.
The order comes in view of the "security threat" following an "alert" by Indian Air Force.

Chinese firms to ramp up investment as costs rise
HONG KONG: Official investment figures may be feeble, but exporters at China largest trade fair say they are ploughing more money into robotics, van cleef necklace copy alhambra, industrial automation and new product development to offset rising costs.
At the Canton Fair, which kicked off this weekend for companies in the household electronics, decorative materials and building sectors other sectors follow later in the month more than 80% of companies quizzed by Reuters said they would be spending more next year.
That would represent a significant shift if matched throughout China economy. Official data on Wednesday showed private sector investment in fixed assets in the first nine months grew just 2.5%, picking up from a record low of 2.1% in the first eight months.
Kison Van said his company, Ningbo Cixi Import and Export Holdings, which makes fans and heaters, needs to develop three to four new products every year to stay competitive.
important to continuously invest in R because once a new product comes out, you see it everywhere at the Canton Fair, said Van, one of tens of thousands of salesman at a fair that sprawls over 1.2 million square metres, almost twice the size of the world largest mall.
More than 65% of the 103 exhibitors polled by Reuters in China southern city of Guangzhou expect to boost spending by up to 20% in 2017, while 16.5% expect to raise spending by more than 20%.
That will be welcome news to leaders in Beijing, as China private companies, which make up the bulk of exhibitors at the fair, are a crucial engine of growth for the economy, unlike the largely inefficient and indebted state owned sector.
Chinese growth slowed to a 25 year low of 6.9% last year, and third quarter figures released yesterday put it on track for about 6.7% this year.
Economists say the country mid sized private companies are the primary source of investment, innovation and productivity growth. Heavy machinery manufacturers at the fair said they spend over 30% of their investment capital upgrading production lines each year, while many building materials and household equipment makers said they were pumping money into automation.
China is achieving average annual growth of 18% in research and development (R spending, compared with just 1.4% across the rest of the world upper middle income countries, according to the Unesco Institute for Statistics.
While most exporters surveyed aim to boost spending, around 20% said they planned to cut investment. Liu Qian, deputy general manager of Nanjing Panda Electronics Import Export Co, said investing in robots and automation was crucial, given wages had doubled in five years.
Several Chinese provinces have slowed or halted increases to minimum wages this year, as companies face pressure from rising expenses and weakening global demand, something that is also prompting more companies to shift sales to within China.
Liu acknowledged it would take longer for some companies to break even, given the size of the initial capital injection in automation and robots.
China is aiming for a top 10 ranking in automation for its industries by 2020 by putting more robots in its factories, according to the International Federation of Robotics (IFR).
Torpedo Hsu, sales manager at heavy machinery transmissions maker CMEC, said the company plans to invest 10 to 20 % more in spending next year, which it hopes will lead to a pick up in orders after an expected 10 % fall in export orders this year.

Anisotropic interactions of a single spin and dark
Y. K. Kato1AbstractExperiments on single nitrogen (N centres in diamond, which include electron spin resonance1, Rabi oscillations2, single shot spin readout3 and two qubit operations with a nearby13C nuclear spin4, show the potential of this spin system for solid state quantum information processing. Moreover, N centre ensembles can have spin coherence times exceeding 50 s at room temperature5. We have developed an angle resolved magneto photoluminescence microscope apparatus to investigate the anisotropic electron spin interactions of single N centres at room temperature. We observe negative peaks in the photoluminescence as a function of both magnetic field magnitude and angle that are explained by coherent spin precession and anisotropic relaxation at spin level anti crossings. In addition, precise field alignment unmasks the resonant coupling to neighbouring 'dark' nitrogen spins, otherwise undetected by photoluminescence.

The single crystal samples investigated here are commercially available (Sumitomo Electric Industries) high temperature high pressure diamond with two polished parallel (100) surfaces and nominal dimensions of 1.4 mm1.4 mm1.0 mm. They contain nitrogen impurities with densities of 1019 cm 3, measured by ultraviolet absorption18. N centres are naturally present with substantially lower densities ranging from 1010 to 1013 cm 3. For ensemble measurements, samples are irradiated with 1.7 MeV electrons with a dose of 51017 cm 3 and subsequently annealed at 900 for 2 h to increase the N centre concentration6.
The phonon broadened 3E3A transition of the N centre is detected by means of non resonant photoluminescence microscopy (see Methods). For example, Fig. 1b is a spatial image of the spectrally integrated photoluminescence from a diamond sample with the laser focused roughly 1 m below the surface. Multiple resolution limited features are observed in the 20 m20 m field. In order to determine that a given feature is due to a single emitter, a histogram is plotted of the time between consecutive photon detection events using a Hanbury Brown and Twiss detection geometry19, yielding the experimental intensity correlation function g(2)(). Figure 1c shows the data from a colour centre labelled NV1. The value of g(2)(0) is below 0.5, proving that NV1 is a single colour centre20. In addition, the rise of g(2)() above unity with increasing is indicative of intersystem crossing to the 1A metastable state20, 21.
These single photon emitters are further characterized by optically detected electron spin resonance (ESR; see Methods). Figure 1d contains data from NV1 with zero applied magnetic field. In this case, the 1 ground state levels are degenerate so that only one resonance (mS=01) is observed at 2.87 GHz,faux boucles d oreilles anciennes, the characteristic zero field splitting of N centres11. The data are fit with a lorentzian of 11 MHz full width at half maximum (solid line), which is comparable to reported values in similar diamond samples1.
Strain dependent optical measurements on ensembles of N centres have indicated that electric dipole transitions are allowed for dipoles in the plane perpendicular to the symmetry axis6. Figure 2a depicts an N centre with transition dipoles and in a (111) plane. The excitation is along [001] for all measurements, therefore IPL depends on the laser polarization angle owing to unequal excitation of the two dipoles. The dependence of IPL on is measured for 20 N centres and shows either vertical or horizontal lobes, as exemplified for three N centres in Fig. 2b. The measured anisotropies, defined as the ratio IPL(=0 (=90 are roughly 2:1 and 1:2 on average; a simple anisotropy calculation gives 3:1, 3:1, 1:3 and 1:3 for the N symmetry axis along [111], , and , respectively (see Methods). The measured data are modified by the presence of polarized background photoluminescence (subtracted from the data) and a small dip, most visible for NV2 at =0 which varies in depth from centre to centre. Nevertheless, comparison of the measured and calculated anisotropies enables the number of possible orientations of a given centre to be reduced from four to two.
(61 KB)In order to investigate these peaks further, rplique boucles d oreilles van cleef prix, IPL is measured as a function of B with B at a series of angles in the plane; a selection of such data from NV1 is shown in Fig. 3a. As B approaches the [111] direction (0 the LAC peak narrows, as expected from ensemble measurements22, 23. At sufficiently small angles, however, the LAC peak amplitude decreases for NV1 (Fig. 3b) or even vanishes for some centres, such as NV4 (Fig. 3c). This is in contrast to the ensemble measurements22, 23 that showed a maximum in the LAC peak amplitude at =0 According to the hamiltonian above, replique boucle d oreille van cleef, however, spin mixing should vanish at =0 The presence of residual spin mixing at =0 has been attributed to strain and nuclear interactions24, which vary from centre to centre.

Antimatter Found Orbiting Earth
Antimatter particles are mirror opposites of normal matter particles. For example, an antiproton is a negatively charged version of the proton, van cleef and arpels alhambra fake bracelet, one of the basic constituents of an atom. (Related: "Proton Smaller Than Thought May Rewrite Laws of Physics.")
When cosmic rays high energy particles from the sun and beyond our solar system smash into atoms, they break them apart, creating a shower of exotic particles. A small percentage of these newly spawned particles is predicted to be antiprotons.
The trouble is that when antimatter and matter collide, both vanish in flashes of energy. Because our universe contains more matter than antimatter, any new antiparticles quickly disappear. (Read about a new material that may help explain why matter and antimatter are out of balance.)
But the European satellite PAMELA short for Payload for Antimatter Matter Exploration and Light nuclei Astrophysics recently found a self renewing supply of antiprotons in the Van Allen radiation belt. This belt is actually two donut shaped rings of charged particles surrounding our planet, with an inner belt nestled under an outer belt.
The discovery confirms earlier predictions that Earth's magnetic field can trap antimatter particles created by the interaction of cosmic rays with our planet's atmosphere, said study team member Alessandro Bruno, an astrophysicist at the University of Bari in Italy.
That might not sound like a lot, but it's about three orders of magnitude higher than the average antiproton concentration predicted in empty space, van cleef fake bracelet alhambra, said Vassilis Angelopoulos, a professor of space sciences at the University of California, van cleef and arpels replica bracelet, Los Angeles, who was not involved in the find.
In fact, the bulk of antiprotons detected by PAMELA were likely created indirectly, the University of Bari's Bruno said.
When cosmic rays break apart atoms several tens of miles above Earth's surface, van cleef replica bracelet alhambra, they also generate particles called antineutrons.
Some of "these antineutrons escape the atmosphere and subsequently decay into antiprotons at much higher altitudes," where the PAMELA spacecraft flies, Bruno explained in an email. Atom Smasher.")
The antiprotons were discovered in a particular region of the Van Allen belt called the South Atlantic Anomaly, where the inner ring of the belt dips closest to Earth's surface.
Antiprotons likely exist in other parts of the Van Allen Belt as well, but they are orbiting at altitudes too high for PAMELA to detect, the scientists say. (Related: "Thunderstorms Shoot Antimatter Beams Into Space.")
Space Station Device to Boost Antimatter Science
But the discovery of a natural reservoir of antiprotons in space provides a unique opportunity to study the rare particles in their natural state, Angelopoulos said.
"The magnetosphere is a pristine laboratory for studies of these basic processes, because there are no interactions with laboratory walls or laboratory detectors" to interfere with the particles and facilitate their escape, he said.
NASA scientists have even entertained the idea of capturing and harnessing antimatter to propel the next generation of spacecraft, but such scenarios are still a long way off.

Ander Herrera produced a masterclass in win over Chelsea
Another big game, another big performance from a player who is really starting to look the part at Old Trafford.
It was only a month ago that Herrera was controversially sent off against Chelsea in the FA Cup, but he settled that score with a complete performance on Sunday.
But this rub of the green shouldn't detract from the all round brilliance of Herrera's display. His passing was faultless, he recovered possession time after time, tackles were crunching.
He was fearless, combative and constantly cajoling a little bit extra from his team mates.
Herrera's man marking job on Hazard was textbook and so effective the Belgian, Chelsea's primary attacking threat, van cleef fake alhambra bracelet, barely had a sniff of goal all afternoon. Rarely has Hazard been so effectively silenced.
It was that aspect of his performance that spawned plenty of 'Hazard in Herrera's pocket' gags on social media after the final whistle, van cleef and arpels fake alhambra bracelet.
There were other elements, too. Herrera showed passion for his club in the manner he celebrated the goal, a knee slide across the wet Old Trafford surface accompanied by a guttural roar of delight.
Then there was the skillful way he walked the line between winding up the Chelsea players the devil Mourinho would have asked for and taking an aggressive approach that would have led to another damaging dismissal.
All in all, it was the kind of performance in a huge game Mourinho that would have dreamed of and it led some United fans to ask whether Herrera should be handed the captain's armband.
Herrera is mobbed by Marcos Rojo and Eric Bailly after scoring United's second goal
With Wayne Rooney almost certainly on his way out this summer, the role of club captain is vacant and it is one that has been shared around in the past few weeks.
Against Anderlecht on Thursday night, Marouane Fellaini fulfilled the duty, on Sunday it was Ashley Young. But there's no reason why Herrera shouldn't be thrown into the mix.
With the commitment and leadership he showed against Chelsea, van cleef and arpels fake clover bracelet, not to mention the class he regularly shows in setting up goals and chances, Herrera is a strong candidate.
He's assured of playing most matches now and will play even more when 35 year old Michael Carrick hangs up his boots.
Under Mourinho, he is finally fully appreciated in a way he often wasn't under Louis van Gaal, who took a long time to acknowledge what qualities the Spaniard could bring to his side.
United manager Jose Mourinho seems to appreciate Herrera's many talents
Herrera has been involved from the outset this season, completing the full 90 minutes more often than not.
Though he has scored fewer goals than he did playing a more advanced role under Van Gaal, he seems to have found his niche.
It's clear that in the biggest matches, especially against Chelsea on Sunday, he is an invaluable link between defence and attack.
Scoring one goal and creating another, all while shadowing Hazard, emphatically showed what Herrera brings to this United side and hinted that even better may follow.

Brain scans find why some people 'black out' after drinking
People who wake up after an evening's drinking and find the details are a little fuzzy might be reassured by a new study.
People who suffer memory loss don't always do so because they drink more than others certain brains are just prone to losing memories when under the influence, according to a new study using MRI brain scanners.
The Hangover: Researchers found that alcoholic blackouts aren't necessarily due to drinking more than others some people have a chemical 'switch' that makes them forget
'Our study's findings suggest that some people are more likely to experience alcohol induced blackouts than others due to the way alcohol affects brain activity in areas involved in self monitoring, attention, and working memory,' said Reagan R. Wetherill of the University of California, San Diego.
Wetherill says, 'Some people may be more vulnerable to alcohol's effects than others. In other words, just because your friend may be able to drink a certain number of drinks and appear to be functioning fine, it does not mean that you or everyone else can.'
'Blackouts',replica alhambra clover necklace, where very heavy drinkers wake up and are unable to remember anything that happened, are quite rare, says Weatherill but their cousin, replica van cleef and arpels magic alhambra necklace, the 'brown out', where details vanish, is much more common.
The study using 24 students, 12 of whom suffered 'brown outs' while drinking, and 12 who did not, challenged the students to complete memory exercises both while drunk and while sober.
The study found that the students had similar abilities to remember and to multi task while sober but alcohol acted as a 'magic switch' for some which stopped them remembering.
It suggests there is a biochemical trigger for some people to forget what happens while drinking.
'Through use of imaging technology, this study has made the really intriguing finding that the unique patterns of blood flow and neural activity seen in persons prone to experience those amnestic phenomena emerged only after they became intoxicated,'she said.
'That finding, replica vca sweet alhambra necklace, taken together with results from prior research on fragmentary blackouts, suggests there are individual differences in how alcohol impacts memory.'
'Alcohol intoxication reduced activity in a brain region involved in 'multitasking, replica van cleef black onyx necklace,'' said Wetherill.
'Thus, alcohol appears to affect a person's ability to multitask, and also affects some people's ability to engage brain areas required for encoding and remembering previous experiences.'
'Irrespective of the specific type of alcohol related memory loss involved, if one is experiencing blackouts it is an important signal that negative personal and health consequences are more likely to occur,' said Weatherill.
'Not fully recalling one's life experiences, particularly those that occur while one is intoxicated, creates a state of vulnerability where the chances increase for the individual to incur all kinds of problems.'
