Starting Wednesday, the NYC Department of Environmental Protection began $34 million dredging project to reduce odors and improve health of Flushing Bay. NY1's Van Tieu filed the following report.
Complaints of a rotten egg smell coming off parts of Flushing Bay are a common occurrence. The odor is coming from the ground below the water, said Pam Elardo, Department of Environmental Protection Deputy of Commissioner for the Bureau of Waste Water Management.
"Sediments over time, either naturally occurring or whatever the case may be, will become anaerobic and you'll get kind of a hydrogen sulfate smell from it,van cleef diamond necklace replica, and that's what happening: the sediments have been sitting there a very long time and that's been causing some odors in the area,van cleef and arpel clover necklace replica," she said.

Fresh Lawsuit Against Ailes Slams Fox News' Response To Harassment Claims
A lawsuit filed on Monday morning by a paid political commentator for the Fox News Channel alleges the network's past chairman, Roger Ailes, made unwanted sexual advances while leading her to believe that a big promotion would follow.
The suit says Ailes encouraged Fox News contributor Julie Roginsky to date older, married men, repeatedly praised her looks and sought to get her to join him for drinks, even in his office, away from prying eyes that could get them "into so much trouble."
Roginsky spurned the advances, according to the lawsuit, and as a result never received the promotion to become host of the popular early evening program The Five.
Roginsky's depiction of life at Fox News even after Ailes' ouster last summer at the height of a sexual harassment scandal suggests a far cry from the changed corporate culture promised by the Murdoch family, which controls 21st Century Fox. Patriarch Rupert Murdoch has led Fox News since Ailes was felled by fallout from the lawsuit by former host Gretchen Carlson that triggered the scandal.
Roginsky's suit adds to the list of sexual harassment allegations against Ailes, which also includes those made by former Fox News journalists Megyn Kelly and Laurie Dhue. Through his lawyers, Ailes has denied all the previous allegations to date.
Perhaps more troublingly for Fox News and its corporate parent, 21st Century Fox, Roginsky also accuses the network's current president, Bill Shine; its longtime top lawyer,replica van cleef mini alhambra necklace, Dianne Brandi; and other senior executives of complicity in Ailes' harassment and of punishing her for raising the issue.

Another in a long list of complaints about Fox
Roginsky's allegations arrive as new attention is being given to similar accusations against Fox News' brightest star, Bill O'Reilly. The right of center opinion host and Fox News have made payments totaling roughly $13 million over a dozen years to settle complaints that he harassed female former co workers,replica van cleef small necklace, according to The New York Times.
Suspended Fox News host Andrea Tantaros has also filed suit, citing what she says was sexual harassment by Ailes and O'Reilly. She alleges that Shine also failed to take her complaints seriously. All three men deny her claims.

Fox News promised to change the culture
Roginsky said in the complaint that Shine and Brandi took no action to investigate her allegations that Ailes had harassed her once they learned of his behavior toward her. The company had put new policies in place and hired an outside law firm to lead an inquiry into the mounting accusations against Ailes, but did not pursue her accusations,replica van cleef mother of pearl clover necklace, according to the lawsuit.
Such concerns first arose at Fox well before last summer. They said they did not believe Luhn's claims at that time.

Ailes led Roginsky to believe she would get the one slot for a liberal commentator previously held by The Five host Bob Beckel. Ailes confided to Roginsky that Beckel would not return to Fox because of substance abuse problems, the suit states. A lawsuit filed on Monday morning by a paid political commentator for the Fox News Channel alleges the network's past chairman, Roger Ailes, made unwanted sexual advances while leading her to believe that a big promotion would follow.
The suit says Ailes encouraged Fox News contributor Julie Roginsky to date older, married men, repeatedly praised her looks and sought to get her to join him for drinks, even in his office, away from prying eyes that could get them "into so much trouble."
Roginsky spurned the advances, according to the lawsuit, and as a result never received the promotion to become host of the popular early evening program The Five.
Roginsky's depiction of life at Fox News even after Ailes' ouster last summer at the height of a sexual harassment scandal suggests a far cry from the changed corporate culture promised by the Murdoch family, which controls 21st Century Fox. Patriarch Rupert Murdoch has led Fox News since Ailes was felled by fallout from the lawsuit by former host Gretchen Carlson that triggered the scandal.
Roginsky's suit adds to the list of sexual harassment allegations against Ailes, which also includes those made by former Fox News journalists Megyn Kelly and Laurie Dhue. Through his lawyers, Ailes has denied all the previous allegations to date.
Perhaps more troublingly for Fox News and its corporate parent, 21st Century Fox, Roginsky also accuses the network's current president, Bill Shine; its longtime top lawyer,replica van cleef mini alhambra necklace, Dianne Brandi; and other senior executives of complicity in Ailes' harassment and of punishing her for raising the issue.

Another in a long list of complaints about Fox
Roginsky's allegations arrive as new attention is being given to similar accusations against Fox News' brightest star, Bill O'Reilly. He also acted as Deputy Registrar of the Malacca Supreme Court from 1919 to 1926. He married Josephine in 1905.
In 1921, Alexander was appointed secretary of the Malacca Rural Board and in 1935 was transferred to the Officers Reserve Unit of the Malacca Volunteer Corps. Subsequently, he was awarded the Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) medal of honour for service and duty rendered to the state.
The recent reunion gathering also brought extended family members who had not met each other for over four decades. A small souvenir depicting the the photos of patriarch and matriarch of bygone years plus a copy of their family tree structure, were presented to all, courtesy of Anne and husband Dave.

First Nations split over BC Hydro's Site C dam megaproject with video
THE PEACE RIVER BC Hydro's planned $7.9 billion Site C dam has caused a split among Treaty 8 First Nations over whether to fight the mega project tooth and nail or participate in negotiations leading to compensation settlements.
As a joint review panel begins an environmental review of Site C Monday on behalf of the provincial and federal governments, four First Nations communities have banded together to fight the project Doig River, Halfway River, Prophet River, and West Moberly.

Liz Logan, Tribal Chief with the Treaty 8 Tribal Association, said in response: "Negotiating a benefits agreement for Site C is incomprehensible because this project and its impacts violate our treaty rights and you cannot attach a dollar value to that."
She said that impacts from existing dams on the Peace River have not been addressed and that BC Hydro's tactic is "disrespectful to the people and families that felt the impacts of the past projects."
Impact benefit agreements are for First Nations whose "treaty rights may be adversely affected by the project in ways that cannot be fully avoided or otherwise mitigated," Conway added. Compensation could involve money, land, employment and contracting of work. Bennett dam, built in 1967, and the Williston reservoir hint at the sort of settlements that might be possible downstream on the Peace River at Site C.
In a 2009 agreement, the Tsay Keh Dene received a one time payment of $20.9 million most of which was to be placed in an endowment fund and annual payments of about $2 million to support a wide range of social, cultural and governance programs.
Other benefits include "direct award contracting opportunities,replica van cleef and arpels blue necklace," assurances regarding annual road maintenance and capacity funding to allow the community to engage in discussions regarding impacts of new BC Hydro projects on the community.
In 2008, the Kwadacha First Nation received a one time payment of $15 million and annual payments of $1.6 million. In both cases, the settlements followed legal action by the First Nations. "All we're trying to do is put them in a position where because they're going to be impacted, they'll have an opportunity to derive benefits from the project."
BC Hydro's mandate is to make sure all communities affected but particularly First Nations are in some way compensated or get a share of the benefits, he said. "That's something we're working hard on with the Treaty 8 First Nations. What you hope for, over time, is that they see the project doesn't have all the negative environmental impacts they think it might have."
Among the compensation touted for non native communities with the Peace River Regional District is a legacy fund that would pay the district $2.4 million per year,van cleef and arpel necklace replica, indexed to inflation over 70 years, once the dam starts generating electricity.

On the banks of the Halfway River, near its confluence with the Peace, Robert Dominic, a member of the Doig elders' council, pointed to some willows and noted that his people have traditionally harvested and dried the bark, then smoked it in rolling papers. "For your health," he said, waving off any suggestion of hallucinogenic properties. "Pure medicinal tobacco."
Davis looked up towards a grassy south facing slope where the remains of Doig Chief Peter Attachie one of the signatories to Treaty 8, which was negotiated in 1899 and included hunting rights are buried on private farmland. DNC reach deal after Hillary Clinton data breach
Washington (CNN)The Democratic National Committee has agreed to allow the Bernie Sanders campaign to regain access to voter files.
The DNC had cut off Sanders from a crucial voter database, saying the campaign wrongly accessed data gathered by Hillary Clinton's team. Sanders filed suit in federal court Friday evening seeking to regain access to its own voter data.
"Thankfully, after refusing to give us the information we were asking for for nearly two days, last night, we did reach an agreement with the campaign,replica van cleef blue necklace," DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz told CNN's Victor Blackwell Saturday morning.

Uretsky said he and his team downloaded only phone numbers but did so to alert the DNC and NGP VAN that the Sanders campaign was aware that voter info in the DNC database wasn't being properly protected.
"We knew that what we were doing was being recorded," he told CNN. "We didn't try to be sneaky at all."
The Sanders campaign said that the breach was not the first one, and that the campaign had reported them in the past.
But the DNC charged that "multiple staffers" from the Sanders campaign downloaded information that they did not have the right to collect over an extended period.
The party had made demands regarding the breach and the data to the Sanders campaign. Early Saturday, the DNC said the campaign was meeting them.
"The Sanders campaign has now complied with the DNC's request to provide the information that we have requested of them. Based on this information, we are restoring the Sanders campaign's access to the voter file, but will continue to investigate to ensure that the data that was inappropriately accessed has been deleted and is no longer in possession of the Sanders campaign," the DNC said in a statement early Saturday.
The Sanders campaign had a different interpretation of the decision to restore its access.
