DELRAY BEACH, Fla. Chris Terry Jersey . -- Croatias Marin Cilic won the Delray Beach Open on Sunday for his 11th ATP World Tour title and second in three weeks, beating Kevin Anderson 7-6 (6), 6-7 (7), 6-4 in 3 hours, 8 minutes. Cilic leads the tour with 18 match wins this season. He improved to 3-1 against Anderson, the 2012 Delray winner. "These three weeks have been very long for me," said Cilic, the winner in Zagreb and runner-up last week in Rotterdam. "Im going to enjoy it for a while and have a little rest." The match was the first final in tournament history with two sets decided in tiebreakers. Anderson had 12 double faults. "I just didnt put down the clamps to give myself some more chances," Anderson said. "I was a bit too patchy today, but Im happy making the finals." Top-ranked Bob and Mike Bryan won the doubles final, beating Frantisek Cermak and Mikhail Elgin 6-2, 6-3 for their third Delray Beach title. With Jack Nicklaus watching, the Bryans won their 94th ATP Tour title. "We never thought wed get this high," Mike Bryan said. "Were very happy to kick-start the year here in Delray," Bob Bryan said of about their first title of the season. "Were starting to hit our stride." Teuvo Teravainen Hurricanes Jersey .J. -- Kyle Palmieri thrilled his personal rooting section with an overtime winner that sent the Anaheim Ducks to their seventh straight win. Alexander Semin Hurricanes Jersey . The Hockey Canada Foundation is donating $50,000, with Hockey Quebec contributing $15,000. Hockey Canada also announced it will hold a skills camp for all levels of minor hockey in Lac-Mégantic during the 2013-14 season. Representatives from Hockey Canada, the Hockey Canada Foundation and Hockey Quebec were on hand Tuesday night at a meeting of the AHM de Lac-Mégantic to make the announcement and presentation.Texas Rangers left-hander Derek Holland will miss the start of the season after having arthroscopic surgery Friday on his left knee. Holland injured his knee in a fall on stairs in his home on Tuesday. "I am devastated by this injury. It was a freak accident at home that resulted in a hard fall on my knee," Holland said in a statement released by the team. "As upsetting as this is, my goal is to begin rehab and get back on the mound as quickly as possible." General manager Jon Daniels said team physician Dr. Keith Meister repaired cartilage behind Hollands kneecap during the surgery. Daniels said no ligaments needed to be repaired. Daniels said it was too early to have an exact timetable for Hollands return, but is that the 27-year-old lefty is "expected to miss some time into the year." Daniels said for planning purposes, the Rangers are looking at a midseason return, but are hopeful that it can be earlier than that. The Rangers said Holland will have only limited activity over the next six weeks. Holland was 10-9 with a 3.42 ERA in a team-high 33 starts last season. He pitched a career-high 213 innings. In five major league seasons with the Rangers, Holland is 49-38 in 141 games (123 starts). He is under contract through 2016, with club options for two more years afteer that. Carolina Hurricanes Jersey. Without Holland, the Rangers still appear to have Yu Darvish, Matt Harrison, Martin Perez and Alexi Ogando set for the rotation to start the season. Asked about filling Hollands spot, Daniels said he expected to add some pitching depth, but clarified that would be "more in the depth category than really replacing somebody at the front-end of our rotation." Daniels never specifically mentioned Masahiro Tanaka, the Japanese free agent who was 24-0 with a 1.27 ERA in 27 starts last season. But the GM said it didnt seem realistic that a "big-ticket item" would be the answer. "This is an opportunity for a number of our guys," Daniels said. "Were going to go out and hopefully fortify that group and give ourselves some additional options and expect Derek will be back midyear." Daniels, though, has said previously when asked about Tanaka that the team would do its due diligence with any free agent. After the Rangers signed outfielder Shin-Soo Choo to a $130 million, seven-year contract last month, team co-owner Bob Simpson said adding Tanaka "would be a tough thing." The Rangers payroll is expected to be over $130 million this season, more than double what it was when the ownership group took over nearly 3 1/2 years ago. Cheap NFL Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys China Cheap Jerseys From China Cheap NFL Jerseys Authentic Wholesale Jerseys China Cheap NFL Jerseys China NFL Cheap Jerseys ' ' '

TORONTO - Toronto Blue Jays president and chief executive officer Paul Beeston is giving his general manager a vote of confidence despite a mediocre season and a third-place finish in the American League East. Travis Frederick Jersey . The future of general manager Alex Anthopoulos has been the subject of much speculation in recent weeks. He overhauled the roster two years ago but the Blue Jays have gone 157-167 since and extended their playoff drought to 21 years with an 83-79 finish this past season. Alex I can say for a fact is back, Beeston said Friday in an interview on Sportsnet 590 The Fan. Anthopoulos has been with the franchise for over a decade and has served as GM for the last five years. He hasnt finished what he started out to do, Beeston said. Im 100 per cent supportive of him. I think that he has done a very good job. I think we are now seeing the benefits of what happened with his development (and) his investment in the farm system. I think thats only going to be better for the future. Beeston also said he expected manager John Gibbons to return next year. Anthopoulos has also voiced his confidence in the Blue Jays skipper, who has a rolling contract that kicks in every Jan. 1. The Blue Jays had a strong first half in 2014 but struggled after the all-star break and fell out of the playoff picture last month. Beeston said the teams payroll of about US$135-137 million will rise in 2015. The 69-year-old native of Welland, Ont., also confirmed that hes in the last year of his contract but said he has no plans to leave the organization. Im here as long as Rogers wants me here, he said. I enjoy what Im doing. Also Friday, the Blue Jays announced they have outrighted infielder Munenori Kawasaki, first baseman Dan Johnson and catcher George Kottaras to triple-A Buffalo. Johnson and Kottaras, a Toronto native, have both elected free agency.Ryan Switzer Jersey . "There are a lot of things that are going very well in this organization. Im not coming in here to rip things apart," Nicholson told reporters Friday. "I know what Hockey Canada was when I started, and I know where this (Oilers) organization is today. Chidobe Awuzie Jersey . -- Ricky Romeros comeback bid hit another road bump Tuesday in an ugly 18-4 Jays loss to a Detroit Tigers split squad.TORONTO - Toronto surrendered two separate leads Saturday and settled for a 2-2 draw with the Chicago Fire at BMO Field. Gilberto gave Toronto a 2-1 lead in the 78th minute, but the home side was unable to hold on as Quincy Amarikwa tied it at 2-2 in the 90th minute. A Fire own goal in the first half accounted for Torontos other goal on the night while former TFC forward Robert Earnshaw had the lone goal for Chicago (4-6-14). TFC (9-8-6) forward Luke Moore sprung GGilberto, who stepped around Chicago keeper Sean Johnson before depositing his fourth goal of the season. Jason Witten Jersey. However, Amarikwa put a cross from Lovel Palmer past a diving Joe Bendik in the final minute to earn the draw. Earnshaw, who was making his Fire debut, erased a 1-0 deficit in the 70th minute after being subbed in for Sanna Nyassi. On a Grant Ward cross, Earnshaw dove through the area getting his head on the ball to tie the game 1-1. Cheap NFL Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys China Cheap Jerseys From China Cheap NFL Jerseys Authentic Wholesale Jerseys China Cheap NFL Jerseys China NFL Cheap Jerseys ' ' '

BOSTON -- John Lackey pitched seven strong innings, Jackie Bradley Jr. Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66 Femme . singled in two runs and the Boston Red Sox snapped a three-game losing streak with a 5-1 win over the Texas Rangers on Monday night. The Red Sox never lost more than three straight last year when they won the World Series. They avoided dropping their first four home games for the first time since 1984. Lackey (2-0) allowed an unearned run and five hits in seven innings five days after giving up two runs over six innings in a 6-2 win at Baltimore. Chris Capuano pitched the eighth and Koji Uehara escaped a second-and-third jam in the ninth in a non-save situation. Tanner Scheppers (0-1) allowed Bradleys run-scoring hits in the second and fourth, and Boston added three runs in the eighth. Bradley, Mike Napoli and A.J. Pierzynski each had three singles for the Red Sox. Boston took a 1-0 lead in the second on an RBI single by Bradley after singles by Xander Bogaerts and Pierzynski. Texas tied it in the fourth on singles by Adrian Beltre and Alex Rios, a passed ball and a sacrifice fly by Mitch Moreland. Bradley came through again in the fourth with another run-scoring single after Pierzynski singled and went to third on a single by Jonathan Herrera. The Red Sox stranded runners at second and third in the fifth after Napoli and Grady Sizemore singled and both advanced on a passed ball. Pierzynski ended the inning by striking out. Then the Rangers left runners at second and third with a chance to tie the game in the seventh. The threat ended when J.P. Arencibia grounded out to second as Lackey pounded his glove while walking off the mound after facing his final batter. But the Red Sox wasted a chance to extend their lead in the seventh when Bogaerts struck out with runners at second and third and two outs against Seth Rosin. Boston reached Rosin for three runs in the eighth when Pierzynski singled, went to second on a walk to Herrera and scored when Bradley bunted for a single and first baseman Prince Fielder threw wildly for an error. The other runs scored on a single by Daniel Nava and a fielders choice groundout by Dustin Pedroia. NOTES: Elvis Andrus and Rios have hits in each of Texas seven games. ... Martin Perez (0-0) pitches for Texas against Felix Doubront (1-0) in the second game of the three-game series Tuesday. ... Rangers manager Ron Washington said Yu Darvish, whose first start was delayed until last Sunday by back stiffness, will have his usual four days off before pitching Friday even though Texas has an off day Thursday. Scheppers next start will be pushed back to the weekend. ... The Red Sox signed free-agent infielder Ryan Roberts and sent infielder Brock Holt to Triple-A Pawtucket. ... The Rangers placed LHP Joe Saunders on the 15-day disabled list with a bruised left ankle. Onitsuka Tiger Femme . Vonn had another scary moment at Saturdays World Cup downhill in Val dIsere, ending up clutching her knee in pain after losing her balance and missing a gate. But she gave a reassuring answer shortly afterward, saying no new damage had been done to the surgically repaired knee, and that her plans for the Sochi Olympics were still intact. Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66 Pas Cher . After just two league games in June, Toronto (6-4-1) will go on to play seven in July plus a friendly against Tottenham. Five of those contests are against Eastern Conference opposition, meaning valuable points in the playoff race are on the line.TORONTO – Joffrey Lupul wouldve loved to have gone out this past Sunday, grabbed a beer and watched the football game, but given the Maple Leafs dismal performance one night earlier, he knew a seat on the couch was probably more appropriate. When youre not performing up to where you think youre capable of as a team, its not a good feeling, Lupul said. He and his teammates were desperate to stem those ill feelings with an effort they could be proud of and, though it was against the lowly Buffalo Sabres, they got it Tuesday night. Toronto owned its QEW rival in a 4-0 rout, holding the Sabres to just 10 shots – matching a team record – while emerging victorious for just the second time in six tries at home this fall. Still mending fresh wounds from a dispiriting loss to the Bruins over the weekend, one that included a players-only meeting in the frustrated aftermath, the Leafs needed such a performance, if only to relieve some of that building pressure. And though it was hardly any kind of a measuring stick given the opponent, it did help to ease those pressures to some extent. Well, now we know the standard we need to hold ourselves to game in, game out, said James van Riemsdyk, who scored his fourth goal of the year in the victory. Outshooting the Sabres 37-10 overall, the Leafs controlled play almost from the word go, but still found themselves searching for that first goal midway through the game. Michal Neuvirth had made 28 saves to that point in the middle frame, turning every one of Torontos many attempts aside. Those are nervous times because you know that sometimes fate in sports comes and bites you the wrong way and that was what we were worried about, said head coach Randy Carlyle, noticeably relieved after the win. A source of emptiness in recent games, it was the Leaf power play that came through with the goal that broke the nervous tie. Jumping in front of the Sabres defence on a breakaway, Tyler Bozak notched his fourth goal of October – and ninth point – while ending a string of 23 straight empty power plays for Toronto. It was a game where we needed to play a lot better and we felt confident after the first period of how we were playing and knew we just needed to keep playing like that and eventually one was going to go in for us, Bozak said. The Leafs didnt stop there, adding goals from van Riemsdyk, Phil Kessel and Jake Gardiner in the third. Jonathan Bernier, who pitched the easy 10-save shutout, said it was the best game hed seen the team play since landing in Toronto from L.A. All that being said, Tuesday was really just the warm-up response for the Leafs given the opponent – who was also playing their first game back in the Eastern time zone following a road swing through California. A back-to-back this weekend, starting in Columbus and ending at home Saturday with the Blackhawks, will offer more realistic signs as to whether the Leafs have turned any sort of corner. In full-on rebuild mode, Buffalo entered the night with 10 goals all season, had yet to score even once on the power play and was giving up more than 37 shots per game. Nonetheless, they had topped the Sharks in San Jose just a few days earlier. We know that were going to have to play, as we go forward, to a higher level than we did tonight, said Carlyle. Tonight, everything fell our way and well take it because we were in drastic need of a performance at home. Five Points 1. Line Shuffle After Saturdays loss to Boston, Carlyle scrubbed all of his line combos, most notably teaming Kessel with Lupul and Nazem Kadri and David Clarkson with van Riemsdyk and Bozak. Youre doing it because you believe that whats going on cant stay the same, Carlyle said before the game. The changes had the desired effect – though Tuesday, again, didnt provide much for real evaluation. Kessel banked his fifth marker off Neuvirth and into the goal, van Riemsdyk following that up exactly a minute later with his fourth this season on a nifty cross-ice feed from Morgan Rielly. I thought they played well as a line, said Bozak, and I thought our line sustained a lot of zone time too and played pretty well. The change reunites Kessel and Lupul, who had their best NHL seasons respectively when paired together in 2011-12. Kessel posted a career-best of 82 points that year while Lupul bested the 60-point plateau for the first and only time in his career. Lupul nearly matched the Sabres with nine shots on goal on this night, ringing one off the bar along the way. My role changes a little bit on the line, Lupul said of playing with Kessel. Ive got to be the first guy in on the forecheck and get to the front of the net so I know that and thats what Ill have to do to help the line. 2. Home Frustrations The parade of boos have been justifiably merciless through the Leafs early struggles at home – three one-sided uninspired losses. Its frustration thats mounted over years and years of mediocrity, frustration thats easily understood from a players perspective. Its a new year but theyre kind of seeing, in their minds, the same old thing becausse the games that weve played at home weve played quite poorly – other than the Colorado game – so I understand the frustration, Lupul said prior to the shutout against Buffalo. Onitsuka Tiger Jaune. . Weve got to play a lot better and people will be alright. Certainly we want to make this a fun atmosphere; people pay a lot of money to come to these games and its nearly impossible to get tickets so I want people to come here and have a good time, not leave in a foul mood after a game. Weve got to play better and its not just one night, he continued, We shouldnt be nervous to play at home, we should be excited. It was Carlyle who pointed to nerves amid the teams troubled start at the ACC. Like last season, hes advocating composure when hardship hits. What you try to do is you try to keep things as loose as you possibly can in certain situations, he said. Theres a time to teach and [a time to] just say whoa, relax, breathe here gentlemen and we havent done enough breathing as a group in this building. 3. Puck Smarts Many Leafs talked about the improved team game following the victory over Buffalo. Among them was van Riemsdyk, who explained why it was a priority. In my opinion, I think in the first eight games of the year, we were very inconsistent as far as just playing smart, he said. Theres a time and a place to try a play and we werent trying them in the right areas of the ice. When you turn pucks over at your blue line, at their blue line, and make bad decisions with the puck, usually youre going to be chasing the game and youre going to be getting out-shot by a ton. So when youre smarter with the puck, it definitely creates more time in their end. Believe me, its not the first time weve stressed it, Carlyle said of puck management. Weve stressed that right from the beginning of the year, but it just seemed that in some of the situations that weve been in that we havent committed ourselves to what the team needs you to do to have success. 4. Goaltending Home ice had not been kind to Jonathan Bernier coming into the Tuesday affair with Buffalo. Bernier, who picked up just his second shutout as a Leaf, had allowed 13 goals in his first three home starts, sporting an unseemly .867 percentage. He barely saw any action at all from the Sabres, eventually emerging with his first home win this season. Youre just trying to stay focused and make the save that you should make, said Bernier. I thought we played very solid. We kept everything to the outside. Probably the best game since Ive been here. A particular source of strength last season, Toronto goaltending has been just okay through the opening month. Bernier and James Reimer have combined for a .916 save percentage at even-strength so far – the sample size is still small – down from a sizzling .929 mark a year ago. 5. Waiting for an Opportunity Carter Ashton continues to show up every day for practice, for meetings, for strength training in the gym. He also continues to wait for his first opportunity to play. Ashton has been a healthy scratch in all nine games this season. Definitely ready, he said. Every day at the rink, youve got to make sure youre ready and prepare yourself and be good in practices. Definitely excited and ready for any opportunity. Ashton, still just 23, played sparingly in 32 games with the Leafs last season – Carlyle even spoke to his regret about those limited minutes at his season-ending press conference last April. And yet, Ashton is now not even playing at all. Carters been a great soldier, Carlyle said. Hes come to work, he hasnt complained, hes done everything weve asked of him – hes even played defence in practice for us in penalty killing situations – so thats not easy for a young player. Ashton, who scored 16 times in the AHL last year, is still searching for his first NHL goal. He has just three assists in 47 career games. Obviously I want to be able to produce to a certain extent, Ashton said. [But] I think its more about doing the little things right and being a complete player; being responsible defensively and being a trustworthy player and then being able to create energy in the offensive zone. Stats Pack 73-36 – Possession advantage for the Leafs Tuesday. 9 – Shots for Joffrey Lupul, one off the Sabres total as a team. 4-0-0 – Leafs record this season when Phil Kessel records a point. .916 – Even-strength save percentage for Jonathan Bernier and James Reimer this season. 0-23 – Torontos drought on the power play before Tyler Bozak scored in the second period Tuesday night. 10 – Points this season for Bozak, tied with Kessel for the team lead. Special Teams Capsule PP: 1-6 Season: 16.2 per cent PK: 2-2 Season: 85.3 pre cent Quote of the Night On the replay when I saw it between periods, I said holy crow. - Randy Carlyle, reacting to Dion Phaneuf, who appeared to suffer a serious right knee injury in the second period only to return for the third. According to Carlyle, Phaneuf felt a pop in his hip. VAL MARTELLO, Italy -- Nairo Quintana moved into the overall lead in the Giro dItalia after winning a tough and controversial 16th stage, in difficult weather conditions across the legendary Gavia and Stelvio climbs on Tuesday. Luca Sbisa Canucks Jersey . Quintana, who is famed for his climbing skills, finished eight seconds ahead of Ryder Hesjedal. Pierre Rolland was third, 1:13 slower, on the 139-kilometre (86-mile) route from Ponte di Legno to Val Martello -- half of which was uphill. The 24-year-old Quintana -- one of the race favourites -- started the day 2 minutes and 40 seconds behind former leader Rigoberto Uran but beat his fellow Colombian by more than four minutes. Uran slipped to second, 1:41 behind Quintana, who showed he has recovered from a difficult opening two weeks, in which he suffered badly from a crash and also had to take antibiotics to fight a chest cold and fever. "It was raining a lot. We couldnt see any motorcycle. We all knew it was very dangerous," Quintana said. "We climbed the Stelvio together, and we all started to descend. There were four or five of us who pulled clear of the group. "I went at my rhythm. I gave everything today. I was climbing well in the end." Cadel Evans was third, 3:21 behind Quintana, and only five seconds ahead of Rolland, with other rivals also gaining time on the Australian. It was the first time both the Gavia and the Stelvio had been climbed on the same day and the stage was an exact copy of one of the legs in last years Giro, which had to be altered because of bad weather. There were fears the weather would again affect the stage this year and there was brief confusion as it was wrongly reported the route down the Stelvio had been neutralized with blizzards and rain making the technical descent even more treacherous. Some teams as well as the person responsible for the Giros official twitter account misinterpreted instructions to be careful on the descent, with riders slowing down at the top, wrongly understanding it to have been neutralized. "The communication was badly interpreted by some teams," race director Mauro Vegni said. "The indications only highlighted the danger of several curves in a risky part of the descent. It was never said that the race was neutralized or that they shouldnt race." Several team directors continued to insist they had been told by the race radio to tell their cyclists the descent had been neutralized. That came after the cyclists had already dealt with heavy fog and snow on the Gavia. There was a group of 10 cyclists in the break which led up up the Stelvio and although, they had a lead of over two minutes, that started to come down on the climb. Dario Cataldo attacked 2km (1.2 mile) from the summit and went on to claim the Cima Coppi prize, awarded to the cyclist who crosses the highest point of the race first. He sped down the descent, as confusion appeared to reign in the peloton, with some cyclists sitting up and taking time to put on warmer clothing. Quintana went clear of Uran, and his chasing group was 1:20 behind Cataldo as the latter started the final climb up Val Martello, with the maglia rosa group more than two minutes further back. The Colombian and Rolland attacked with 18km (11 miles) remaining and caught Cataldo shortly afterward. Hesjedal caught up with the leading trio and Cataldo was then dropped as the leaders upped their pace. They continued to distance the overall leaders and Quintana accelerated with 7.5km (4.6 miles) to go, as the gradient ramped up to 14%. Rolland and Hesjedal managed to stay with Quintana, but had no response when the Movistar rider upped the pace yet again on an equally steep part just inside the final kilometre. Bo Horvat Canucks Jersey . The 29-year-old German, the 2011 overall World Cup champion, says she has decided "to end my career now. Alexander Edler Jersey . Hattestad managed to avoid the carnage midway through the mens final, as a crash took out three skiers, essentially leaving two men vying for gold. The Norwegian posted a time of 3:38.39, outlasting Swedens Teodor Peterson, who took silver with a time of 3:39.CARSON, Calif. -- A reconstituted midfield helped give the Vancouver Whitecaps their longest unbeaten streak of the season, yet failed to score a goal. The Whitecaps have not lost in six successive games following a 0-0 draw with Chivas USA on Saturday night in front of 4,215 at the StubHub Center. Vancouver (7-4-12) also extended its span of consecutive minutes without allowing a goal to 321. Goalkeeper David Ousted made four saves for his seventh shutout this year. "Any time you get a clean sheet, its a good night," Whitecaps defender Steven Beitashour said. "Were doing a great job staying tight with each other, staying organized and talking a lot. It starts from the front and works its way down to the midfield and to the back line." Injuries to starting midfielders Pedro Morales and Gershon Koffee forced the Whitecaps to make changes. Nicolas Mezquida -- who had played just nine games this season and made only three starts -- replaced Morales as the playmaker. In just his second start, Omar Salgado took over on the right wing for Erik Hurtado. Meanwhile, Russell Teibert replaced Koffee as a defensive midfielder. "Russell Teibert, arguably, was the best player on the park," Vancouver coach Carl Robinson said. "He switched the play from side to side. He got around people. He won second balls. Bo Horvat Jersey. He put in a very mature performance for a young kid." Yet the Whitecaps managed just three shots on goal against Chivas USA (6-11-6), which entered the match with a four-game losing streak and a scoreless stretch of 276 consecutive minutes. Salgado had the Whitecaps best chance in the 28th minute. Salgado executed a leaping, seven-yard header off Teiberts corner kick from the right side. But Chivas USA goalkeeper Dan Kennedy leaned to his left and deflected the shot with both palms around the near post. Chivas USAs Erick Torres almost put the hosts ahead in the 60th minute. Torres jumped between Beitashour and Andy OBrien to head Akira Kajis right-wing cross from 11 yards. But Ousted fielded the shot on one bounce. "We put a big emphasis on concentration," Robinson said. "If we had concentrated a little more in the final third (of the field), we probably shouldve gotten three points." Vancouver midfielder Matias Laba received a yellow card in the 37th minute and will be suspended for next weeks game against the Los Angeles Galaxy. Whitecaps forward Darren Mattocks left the game at halftime with a sore quadriceps muscle, Robinson said. Mattocks collided with Chivas USA defender Donny Toia in the 10th minute and grabbed his right knee after falling. Cheap NFL Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys China Cheap Jerseys From China Cheap NFL Jerseys Authentic Wholesale Jerseys China Cheap NFL Jerseys China NFL Cheap Jerseys ' ' '

"What an effort," Price said. "What impressed me most was he went out in the eighth with 108 pitches against the middle of their lineup. He wanted to be the guy. He was all in. He did what we needed him to do. He tastes the finish line. Theres something in that. Certainly, his two-run single was big." Billy Hamilton added a two-run homer for the Reds, who won their second straight against the reeling Phillies after a three-game losing streak. Bailey (7-3) allowed just six hits and one run with three walks and seven strikeouts while matching his season high in innings and picking up his first career win in five decisions over 10 games against Philadelphia. He threw a season-high 121 pitches, four short of tying his career high. The Phillies had at least one runner on base in six of those innings, but they couldnt capitalize enough to avoid their eighth loss in nine games. Manager Ryne Sandberg blamed a lack of "execution and focus." "I see potential now and then, but we need to be consistent," the first-year manager said. "Its all about chipping in and doing something every day." Aroldis Chapman struck out the side in the ninth for his ninth save. Rookie right-hander David Buchanan (1-3), making his fourth career start since being called up by Philadelphia on May 24, allowed six hits and four runs with six strikeouts in six innings. He also hit a batter while losing his third consecutive start. Trailing 1-0 in the fifth, Todd Frazier led off with a bloop single to centre field and went to third on Zack Cozarts opposite-field double down the right-field line. Against a drawn-in Phillies infielld, Bailey grounded a two-run single up the middle, just out of reach of diving shortstop Jimmy Rollins. Mikko Koivu Wild Jersey. . "I think a starting pitcher should at least be able to handle a bat," Bailey said. "At least put the ball in play -- get a fly ball or a seeing-eye single." Hamilton, hitless in his previous 12 at bats, followed with his second home run of the season, a 348-foot drive into the right-field seats on what he said was a full-count changeup. He wasnt sure it was going out. "I dont hit home runs," he pointed out. "Didnt you see me running? I was rolling. I looked up and Homer was right there." Buchanan wouldnt change either one of the pitches, he said. "I got the ground ball I wanted," he said about Baileys hit. "I left the changeup (to Hamilton) up. If its down and away, he doesnt hit it. I had conviction with that pitch. It was the right pitch." Philadelphia took a 1-0 lead in the third. Ben Revere and Jimmy Rollins singled with one out. Revere stole third and scored on Chase Utleys sacrifice fly. The Phillies, who saw two innings end with runners thrown out at the plate on Saturday, lost another runner at home in the fourth inning on Sunday. Domonic Brown was on third base with Carlos Ruiz on first and one out when Cesar Hernandez hit a chopper to third baseman Todd Frazier, who easily threw out Brown at the plate. Buchanan followed with an inning-ending fielders-choice grounder. Notes: Jimmy Rollins needs five hits to pass Hall of Famer Mike Schmidt for the Phillies career record after going 1-for-3 on Sunday. ... Cincinnatis Devin Mesoraco struck out three times while extending his career-long hitless streak to 17 at bats. ... Philadelphia wrapped up a stretch of 20 games in 20 days with a 6-14 record. After a day off on Monday, the Phillies open a stretch of 21 games in 20 days with the first of a three-game home series against San Diego. ... The Reds are scheduled to continue their 10-game home stand, their second-longest of the season, on Monday with the first of four games against the Dodgers. Cheap NFL Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys China Cheap Jerseys From China Cheap NFL Jerseys Authentic Wholesale Jerseys China Cheap NFL Jerseys China NFL Cheap Jerseys ' ' '

TORONTO - With his teammates primed to go their separate ways after Wednesdays game, many of them playing like it in the first half, DeMar DeRozan took one final opportunity to validate his upcoming trip to New Orleans. Bill Barber Flyers Jersey Authentic . For the better part of the opening 24 minutes, the Raptors played like a team that was ready to start its long weekend one day early by succumbing to a popular pre All-Star break pitfall; the letdown game. "I think both teams were on vacation before the game started," Dwane Casey said of his teams flat start, hitting just one of 12 field goals at the outset of a crucial meeting with the Hawks and trailing by eight early, until DeRozan sparked the Raptors slumbering offence. Were the Raptors looking ahead to some much needed time off? "I wouldnt say that necessarily, we probably thought they (were)" replied DeRozan, who scored 14 of his game-high 31 points in the first seven minutes of the third quarter, spearheading a lopsided second half and leading Toronto to a 104-83 win over Atlanta. "We picked it up," he continued. "We understood they were going to come out play hard because we are neck-and-neck in the race in the conference. We understood how much this game meant." The Raptors overtook Atlanta for third place in the Eastern Conference standings last month and the Hawks have been knocking on the door ever since. With the victory, Toronto handed the Hawks - who now hold the fifth seed - their fifth straight loss and padded their own cushion over fourth-place Chicago going into this weekends All-Star festivities. At 28-24, the Raptors sit atop their division at the break for the second time in franchise history and first since they won the Atlantic in the 2006-07 season. "It means a lot to be where were at right now," DeRozan said, "but it really dont mean nothing unless we keep it up. Weve got to keep it growing, we cant be comfortable with it because teams in our division (are) definitely still coming." Leading by one at intermission, the Raptors outscored the struggling Hawks 59-39 in the second half, holding them to 30 per cent shooting and forcing eight turnovers while committing just one themselves. DeRozan made seven of his 10 field goal attempts, and all four of his free throws, in the half. Most importantly the Raptors executed their game plan defensively, rotating and closing out hard, limiting one of the better three-point shooting teams in the league to four treys on 20 attempts from beyond the arch. "We had to make sure we were there and the way the game started I (didnt) think we got the memo before the game," Casey said. "We continued to grind it, stuck with the game plan, guys stuck together and grinded it out." It wasnt their most ascetically pleasing victory but its one that fell right into the Raptors wheelhouse, one that played into the identity and personality Casey has urged his team to carry into the seasons unofficial second half. "Like I told our guys," he said, "the second half is going to be a grind. Its not going to be pretty (but) we dont want it to be pretty. Its going to be hard and everybody has to be committed in the locker room." The break comes at a perfect time for the Raptors. Although they go into it with confidence having won two straight, both at home - overall theyve won 10 of 12 at the Air Canada Centre - many of them could use the rest and relaxation time. For the second straight game Amir Johnson was a spectator - fashioning a personalized Raptors jersey on the back of his vest as he watched from the bench - still nursing a sore right ankle. Hell have over 10 days of rest before the team reconvenes in Washington for Tuesdays game against the Wizards. For the rest of the team this five-day layoff is an opportunity to heal various aches and pains that accumulate over a long season and refocus heading into the stretch run. "Me personally I need the rest," said Kyle Lowry, who had another double-double - 16 points and 13 assists - on Wednesday. "I know everybody needs the rest. You get to mentally relax and physically relax also and its always important to take care of your body at this time (of year). You rarely get a five-day stretch in the season so (we have to) take advantage of it." Michael Raffl Flyers Jersey Authentic . Solomon Elimimian did not make the trip with the team after suffering what appeared to be a right leg injury in the teams regular season finale against the Calgary Stampeders. Philadelphia Flyers Gear .Y. -- It was as if Matt Moulson never left the New York Islanders.Phoenix, AZ (SportsNetwork.com) - Goran Dragic posted 20 points in the Phoenix Suns 106-98 win over the Washington Wizards on Wednesday night. Isaiah Thomas had 18 points off the bench, Markieff Morris scored 16 and P.J. Tucker went for 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Suns, who snapped a two-game losing streak. P.J. (Tucker) doesnt get a lot of opportunities, but late in games he really gets tuned in, Suns coach Jeff Hornacek said. Marcin Gortat and Otto Porter each netted 14 points in the loss, while Kris Humphries tallied 11 points and 15 rebounds. The Wizards had their two-game winning streak halted. Washington, which overcame a 19-point first-half deficit in Tuesdays win over the Los Angeles Lakers, tried all it could to perform an encore against the Suns. Down 88-70 early in the fourth, the Wizards ripped off a 17-3 run to cut their deficit to four with under seven minutes left. The Suns weathered the surge by scoring the next eight points, but Washington had one last rush in them as Porters 3-pointer trimmed the deficit to 101-97 with 1:17 left. Dragic committed a turnover on Phoenixs ensuing possession,, but John Wall was off on a 3 and Morris made a clutch jumper at the other end with 23. Jakub Voracek Flyers Jersey Authentic. 5 seconds left to seal it. First half, good defense. Second half, not so much, Hornacek added. Phoenix closed the final five-plus minutes of the first quarter on a 17-4 run. Marcus Morris and Thomas capped it with 3-pointers to give the Suns a 29-17 lead entering the second. An 11-0 run midway through the second stretched Phoenixs lead to 47-25 and it led by 17 at the break. Bradley Beal hit two 3s during an 11-2 run in the third that brought the Wizards to within five, 62-57. You can say they beat us up on the boards in the first half. They were denying us everywhere on the offensive end, Beal said. Eric Bledsoe followed with a three-point play that kicked off an 11-1 spurt for the Suns as they regained a double-digit lead. Game Notes The Suns have won three straight in the series ... Washington had a 22-9 edge in second-chance points ... Wall had 11 points, seven assists and seven rebounds in the loss ... Phoenix scored 21 points off 13 turnovers. Cheap NFL Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys China Cheap Jerseys From China Cheap NFL Jerseys Authentic Wholesale Jerseys China Cheap NFL Jerseys China NFL Cheap Jerseys ' ' '

NEW YORK – Drew Hutchison is in a midseason slump. Jakub Kindl Panthers Jersey . It hasnt been pretty lately. He knows it. Theres something hed like to get out of the way. Something hed like us to know, the answer to a question hed like to no longer be asked. Hes not tired. Also, hes healthy. "I wouldnt be on the mound if I wasnt," said Hutchison. "If Im on the mound then Im good to go. Id never put the team in that situation or myself in that situation after what Ive been through, given what I had to go through to get back to where I am now. I certainly wouldnt jeopardize that." When Hutchison first toed the rubber for his July 6 start in Oakland, three outings ago, he was sporting a 3.81 ERA. His ERA for the season now sits at 4.54. There had been some brilliant starts, like his masterful two-hit shutout of the Rangers on May 16 in Arlington and two seven-scoreless efforts (June 3 in Detroit and June 13 in Baltimore). Hed also had his struggles but they wouldnt linger. After those outings hed hear musings about his home-road splits (7.71 ERA in eight home starts; 2.97 ERA in 12 road starts) and hed be asked, including by TSN.ca, whether the inconsistency was a byproduct of a pitcher throwing a large quantity of innings for the first time since undergoing the Tommy John elbow ligament replacement surgery. Hutchison is a mature kid. Hes poised. When you talk to him, its easy to forget hes only 23 years old. His pitching coach offers a reminder when asked to explain why Hutchison can look dominating in one appearance and anything but in the next. He may be mature but he is a kid. "I just think it still comes down to experience at this level. When you do struggle, how to make those adjustments; sometimes a veteran guy, in a game like the last one, will find a way to get through that," said Pete Walker. "Hes still at a point where he gets frustrated. Hes emotional and he wants to have success and he wants to be out there and he wants everyone to want him out there, which we do. "So I think he puts added pressure on himself right now." In Hutchisons last three starts, all losses, hes allowed 15 earned runs in 13 2/3 innings (9.87 ERA). Hes given up 23 hits and walked seven in that span. Hes coming off the shortest start of his career not interrupted by injury, 2 2/3 innings of work on Monday in a 14-1 loss to Boston. Known as a command guy, that element has eluded Hutchison of late. He explained by first drawing a distinction. "Theres a big difference between command and control. Control is not walking guys; command is commanding the baseball where you want it to be," said Hutchison. "That could be throwing the slider a little bit off the plate, throwing a slider on the plate, throwing it where you want to, commanding the baseball. You can command the baseball and walks guys. I think thats a lot different than control. Controls just throwing it in the box and not walking guys. "To command the baseball to all four quadrants, like I like to do with all my pitches, thats something that wasnt there to where Im capable of having it in my last start." "We still have to continue to refine his slider," said Walker. "His slider at times is probably more of an issue than his fastball, being able to get that in the zone so he doesnt have to be as fine with his heater. The same with his changeup so I think his secondary stuff is still a little bit of a work in progress. I think when the fastball location isnt quite there he has to be able to use his secondary stuff as well to get through those kinds of outings." Hutchison takes the ball on Saturday afternoon at Yankee Stadium, looking to help snap his teams 17-game losing streak in the Bronx. More importantly, a win would pull the Blue Jays back even with New York for second place in the American League East. Another thing he wants you to know: regardless of his relative inexperience and whatever the outcome, he wont be overwhelmed. If hes struggling early, Hutchison knows his fortunes could change in the blink of an eye. "There are times when you know, hey, I need to make a pitch right here," said Hutchison. "Sometimes you can be not making pitches and sometimes you make one pitch and you can get out of it with nothing and then find your rhythm and go seven innings. Thats happened before." SUITING UP Mark Buehrle got the series-opening start in New York on Friday night. On Friday morning, he was the veteran doing good by some of his youngest teammates. Buehrle took Aaron Sanchez, Rob Rasmussen, Todd Redmond, Ryan Goins and Marcus Stroman suit shopping. "I got a nice little double-breasted, its like a silver, its not even a gray, its more like a chrome suit," said Stroman, struggling to describe the colour. "Its pretty fresh." Buehrle was discreet. He handed his mates notes, telling them to meet him in the hotel lobby at 10 oclock on Friday morning. Hed dropped hints in advance the gathering would be for a suit fitting. "Buehrles the man," said Stroman. "Hes got a lot to offer and hes the most down to earth guy for having all the success hes had so its awesome being around him." The practice is common. Two years ago, Ricky Romero and Brandon Morrow took Drew Hutchison for a suit fitting. McGUIRE TRADED A little more than three years after the Blue Jays made him the 11th overall pick of the 2010 draft, Alex Anthopoulos first as general manager, Deck McGuire is out of the organization. The 25-year-old was traded to Oakland on Friday in exchange for cash considerations. McGuire was designated for assignment on July 18 to make room on the 40-man roster for Brad Mills, whod been claimed off waivers from Oakland and who has since been taken off the 40-man roster and demoted to Triple-A Buffalo. Jaromir Jagr Panthers Jersey Authentic . WASHINGTON -- Mets pitcher Zack Wheeler was working in and out of trouble in the early going against the Washington Nationals, walking four batters and allowing a run on a wild pitch. Troy Brouwer Flames Jersey . So he asked catcher Travis dArnaud and pitching coach Dan Warthen a simple question: "Do you all see anything?" Warthen went into the clubhouse to check some video from Tuesday nights game and noticed Wheeler was "collapsing" instead of "throwing downhill," as the right-hander put it. Thanks to that mid-game adjustment to his delivery -- and Washingtons own miscues, including one runner hit by a batted ball and another thrown out at the plate -- Wheeler pitched 6 2-3 innings to win his fourth consecutive decision, helping the Mets beat the NL East-leading Nationals 6-1. "I didnt have my best stuff. And it wasnt very fun. But youve got to find a way through it," said Wheeler (7-8), who contributed a broken-bat RBI single at the plate. "Youre mad at yourself, and youre trying to figure out what it is. I wouldnt say its mentally draining, but its just frustrating." Relying on a fastball consistently in the high 90s mph because his curveball wasnt working, Wheeler was good enough on a muggy night when the temperature was 85 degrees at first pitch. The righty went 3-8 with a 4.45 ERA in his first 16 starts, but is 4-0 with a 1.59 ERA in seven appearances since June 30. "This kid has really, really gotten better," Mets manager Terry Collins said. "I mean, as he continues to improve, the skys the limit." Said Washingtons Jayson Werth: "That was the best Ive seen him. I dont know how many times Ive seen him, but his velocity was a lot higher than I remember." Werth led off the sixth with a double. When Adam LaRoche followed with a single to left, third base coach Bob Henley sent Werth home. Left fielder Eric Campbell threw out Werth with a one-hop toss; the call stood after a replay review to check whether dArnaud blocked the plate. "It changed the whole game right there," said Daniel Murphy, who pushed New Yorks lead to 4-1 with a two-run single in the seventh off Drew Storen. Nationals lefty Gio Gonzalez (6-8) was charged with four runs and six hits over six-plus innings. He put two runners on to begin the seventh, then shook his head as he walked off the mound when manager Matt Williams yanked him with Wheeler coming to the plate. Asked if he was upset that he was removed there, Gonzalez replied: "I wanted to face the pitcher, yes." TRAINERS ROOM: Mets: Closer Jenrry Mejia "tweaked his back" in Mondays loss against San Francisco, Collins said, calling the relievers status day to day. Right-hander Matt Harvey, recovering from reconstructive elbow surgery, threw off a mound for the first time since the operation, and Collins said the pitcher felt fine after Tuesdays session in Florida. Nationals: Third baseman Ryan Zimmerman, on the DL since injuring his right hamstring July 22, has a grade-three strain and could miss six weeks, general manager Mike Rizzo said. Williams thinks Zimmerman -- who began walking on a water treadmill Monday -- could return during the regular season. UP NEXT: Mets: Wednesdays starter, left-hander Jonathan Niese (5-7, 3.24 ERA), lasted only four innings in his last appearance at Nationals Park, allowing five runs in a 5-2 Mets loss May 16. Nationals: The Nationals start righty Doug Fister (10-3, 2.68 ERA). Might second baseman Danny Espinosa get back into the lineup after giving way to trade deadline pickup Cabrera? Espinosa is 5 for 12 (a .417 average) against Niese. WHAT A CATCH: Mets centre fielder Juan Lagares ended the seventh with a head-first diving catch of a sinking liner by Denard Span. Lagares got the wind knocked out of him on the play and was checked on in the outfield by Collins and a trainer but stayed in the game. Calgary Flames T-shirts . He never mentioned anything about his hitting. The 33-year-old right-hander had success with both Sunday, pitching six solid innings and helping the offence-starved Mets with an RBI single as New York salvaged a doubleheader split with a 4-2 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks. Oliver Kylington Flames Jersey Authentic . -- Terrelle Pryor took the opening snap of the game, put the ball in Darren McFaddens belly and saw LaMarr Woodley crash down. HOUSTON -- Terrence Jones said he is feeling more comfortable and confident on the floor. It has showed the last two games. Jones scored a career-high 24 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead the Houston Rockets to their third straight victory, 109-85 over the Boston Celtics on Tuesday night. Jones, who tied his previous career high with 14 points Saturday against Denver, was 10 of 12 from the field as the Rockets shot 57 per cent as a team, including 72 per cent in the first half in building a 24-point halftime lead. "Im just trying to make the simple plays and trying to be there for cuts and offensive rebounds," said Jones, who has started the last four games. "Im just trying to do all the things to help us win." Patrick Beverley chipped in 16 points, James Harden added 15 points, five rebounds and five assists, and Dwight Howard had 10 points and 11 rebounds. Jeremy Lin and Chandler Parsons each had 11 points as the Rockets raced out to a 17-point, first-quarter lead and were never threatened. Houston also never trailed in its 122-111 victory over Denver and has not trailed since falling behind New York 61-60 with 7:41 remaining in the third quarter Thursday, a span of 112 minutes, 19 seconds. Houston coach Kevin McHale said he hoped his team was catching a rhythm. "I think the guys have done a really good job of being attentive and making corrections," McHale said. "Weve still got a long way to go, but were getting better all the time. Thats the encouraging thing. We have a lot of room for improvement still, but I can feel us starting to jell a little bit." Courtney Lee had 17 points, Avery Bradley added 11 and Jared Sullinger had 10 points and nine rebounds off the bench for Boston, which lost its fourth in a row. The Celtics shot 32 per cent. Boston coach Brad Stevens said he didnt have anything he was excited about from Tuesdays game. "I want to make sure we dont play like that again, so I never look at it as it was just one of those things because there is something behind when you dont play the way youre supposed to," Stevens said. "There are games where things just dont go your way, but were letting one end affect the other, and you dont do that against good teams." The Rockets jumped out to an 18-1 lead in the first 5 minutes, capped by a follow dunk by Jones, who had six in the game-opening run. Sam Bennett Flames Jersey Authentic. Beverley had five points in the stretch for Houston. Howard pointed to Houstons defence as the reason the Rockets ran out to the big lead. "Terrence and myself tried to do a better job of protecting the paint and forcing teams to only get one shot," Howard said. "Once we do that, our young guys can get out and run. They did a good job of that tonight, of getting out and running early. We set the tone. Thats what we have to do." Boston got its first point of the game on Jordan Crawfords free throw 45 seconds in after a Houston defensive 3-second call, but the Celtics missed their first nine shots and had three turnovers before Bradley hit a jumper with 6:46 left in the first to cut the lead to 18-3. "It was a slow start," Lee said. "We werent making shots, and were not executing our offence, and Houston got out and were running and were making easy layups, and everything they were running was working against us. It was definitely a bad start for us." Boston, which shot 24 per cent in the first quarter, cut the lead to 28-18 on Sullingers layup with 2:28 left in the period. However, Houston, which shot 80 per cent in the first quarter, responded by ending the quarter on a 12-0 run capped by Omri Casspis 3-pointer to lead 40-18 after one. Houston pushed the lead to 43-18 on a 3-pointer by Beverley a minute into the second quarter and Boston never got the lead below 18 the rest of the way. The Rockets led 68-44 at the half and stretched the lead to 35 at 88-53 on Howards follow shot with 4 minutes to go in the third. NOTES: Houston C Omer Asik, who has been the subject of trade rumours, played Tuesday after missing the last two games. "I was just frustrated," Asik said at Tuesday mornings shootaround about missing the previous two games. "It is behind me now. Im looking forward to help my team win." Asik would not discuss reports that he asked to be traded. ... High school senior Carly Wright, who has been diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a form of bone cancer, was granted a wish by the Rockets and the Make-A-Wish program as she attended shootaround and the game and met the team, including her favourite player, Parsons.Cheap NFL Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys China Cheap Jerseys From China Cheap NFL Jerseys Authentic Wholesale Jerseys China Cheap NFL Jerseys China NFL Cheap Jerseys ' ' '

MILWAUKEE -- Trying to rally past the Minnesota Twins became of little concern to the Milwaukee Brewers after a fan fell into their bullpen Tuesday night. JuJu Smith-Schuster Jersey . The man was motionless for some nervous moments, and reliever Brandon Kintzler thought the fan had died. Medical personnel rushed to the scene and the man regained consciousness before being carted off on a stretcher, delaying the start of the eighth inning of the Brewers 6-4 loss to Minnesota. "He didnt move for a few minutes. I thought he was dead," Kintzler said. The fan fell before he started warming up to enter the game, and Kintzler had to take his practice tosses with paramedics and security still in the bullpen. "Theyre basically giving this guy CPR and doing all this stuff. Youre trying to warm up is not the best thing to do at the time," Kintzler said. Eventually, the man began moving his fingers, Kintzler said. Medical personnel brought him through the bullpen door in left-centre and loaded him on to the cart. He appeared to have a brace around his neck, and a white bandage wrapped around his forehead. The man fell from a dining area roughly 15 feet above the bullpen that is lined with a metal railing about four feet high. Kintzler suspected he was initially caught by netting above the bullpen. "We were just sitting there when (bullpen catcher Marcus Hanel) yelled Oh gosh and all of a sudden you see the net come flying down," Kintzler said. "I think the net caught him and then he just face planted." The Brewers said the fan was conscious and alert, and was being taken to Froedtert Hospital. "I actually was standing in the dugout right in the corner and a guy had his radio on and I heard somebody fell," Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said. "But hopefully -- I heard the guys OK. Probably a little beaten up. Yeah, thats a scary moment." Both teams hoped for the best following a game highlighted by Josh Willinghams three-run homer in the third off Yovani Gallardo (3-4) for a 4-1 lead. Twins closer Glen Perkins gave Milwaukee a chance by walking the first two batters in the ninth. A run scored on Ryan Brauns sacrifice fly to the warning track in right before Carlos Gomez struck out for the final out, allowing Perkins to salvage his 15th save. Perkins held on after Samuel Deduno (2-3) tossed five bumpy innings, allowing two runs and six hits with four walks. The right-hander benefited from three double plays, two of which ended innings with runners in scoring position. "You need those. If youre going to walk people, you damn sure better get ground balls and get double plays," Gardenhire said. Brian Dozier hit a two-run homer in the fifth into the Brewers bullpen for a 6-2 lead. He finished 3 for 3 with a walk. Minnesota left Milwaukee with a split of two games before the interleague home-and-home series moves to Target Field for two more contests. Willingham hit three homers and drove in seven runs during the five-game road trip against the Yankees and Brewers. The way Willingham has been swinging the bat, it makes it easy to forget he had a left wrist injury that kept him out of the lineup for nearly seven weeks. All four of the outfielders home runs have come since he returned from the disabled list May 26. Willinghams latest homer came on a first-pitch slider from Gallardo, who laboured through his worst outing of the season. The righty allowed six runs and eight hits in five innings. "Since the first inning, I was battling with my mechanics," Gallardo said. "The more frustrating thing is it was the total opposite from the bullpen. I warmed up before the game, everything was there, and then I go out there and get out of it." NOTES: Twins rookie Danny Santana led off for the second time in a week. Gardenhire said he was giving Santana, who was hitting .375, a try atop the order to drum up offence. ... The Brewers plan to activate 3B Aramis Ramirez (hamstring) off the disabled list for Wednesdays game at Minnesota, where he will serve as the designated hitter for his first game back. ... Minnesotas Ricky Nolasco (3-5) faces Milwaukees Marco Estrada (5-2) on Wednesday. T. J. Watt Jersey . Indeed, must be among the greatest challenges in all of sports. That assertion is getting harder and harder to make, especially given the way 23-year-old Danilo Gallinari has been playing this season. DETROIT -- Neither Danny Duffy nor his manager was giving much thought to the possibility of a no-hitter on Friday. The left-hander, who is 14 months removed from elbow surgery, was actually happy to finally give up a hit against the Tigers. Duffy (1-0) took a no-hitter into the sixth inning and beat Justin Verlander and Detroit 2-1 on a combined two-hitter in the first game of a day-night doubleheader. Duffy was called up from Triple-A Omaha to make his second big league start of the season, and didnt allow a hit until Miguel Cabreras hard-hit, two out single in the sixth. "I was glad that they finally got one, honestly, because I just wanted to pitch," said Duffy, who underwent Tommy John surgery. "I wanted to protect this arm." Manager Ned Yost wasnt about to push his pitcher. "Even if he didnt give up a hit in the sixth, that was probably going to be his last inning anyway, because we had him for 100 pitches (he threw 96)," Yost said. "He didnt have the pitches for the seventh, eighth and ninth innings. "We just wanted five innings out of him and he gave us one more than we expected." Kelvin Herrera replaced Duff in the seventh and retired the side in order. Aaron Crow worked the eighth and surrendered Santiagos pinch-hit home run leading off the inning. Crow got the next three batters. Greg Holland pitched the ninth for his 33rd save. Eric Hosmer homered for the Royals. Ramon Santiago hit a pinch hit home run for the Tigers. "Would have liked to have been able to accomplish two things, win and keep the bullpen fresh," Verlander. "Just didnt happen that way. Felt like I threw the ball well. Just their guys pitched extremely well, which is theyve done all year." He allowed two runs on seven hits in eight innings. He struck out five and didnt walk a batter. Verlander gave up Hosmers 13th home run of the season, leading off the fourth, which gave the Royals a 1-0 lead. The left-handed hitting first baseman ddrilled Verlanders pitch to the opposite field and into the left-field stands beyond the Tigers bullpen. James Conner Jersey. "Just trying to stay to the middle and not pull off anything," Hosmer said. Verlander said Hosmer took advantage of a hanging curve. "Yeah, it was a hanger. You dont see hanging curveballs hit the opposite field too often though. That was impressive," he said. "It wasnt like it was a question about it getting out. I didnt even watch it. Strong kid." Kansas City made it 2-0 on consecutive doubles leading off the seventh by Justin Maxwell and Bonifacio. Phil Coke and Al Alburquerque pitched the ninth for Detroit, combining to retire the Royals 1-2-3. NOTE: Tigers manager Jim Leyland said it was likely that neither closer Joaquin Benoit nor late-inning reliever Bruce Rondon would be available for either games of Fridays games because of how often theyve been used in the past few games. . Royals manager Ned Yost said third baseman Mike Moustakas, who has been out since leaving Mondays game with a tight calf, would do some work on the field on Friday to assess his progress. . Tigers regular DH Victor Martinez and first baseman Prince Fielder switched places for the first game. Fielder served as the DH and Martinez played first. . Detroit shortstop Jose Iglesias, as he squared to attempt a bunt, was hit in the groin area by a Danny Duffy pitch leading off the third inning. Iglesias hobbled toward first base before collapsing in foul territory. He remained in the game after being attended to by trainer Kevin Rand and after he recovered. . The Royals Billy Butler continued his mastery of Verlander. Butler was 2-for-3 to run his career mark against the Tigers star to 27-for-62 (. 435). . The scheduled starters for Fridays night portion of the doubleheader are James Shields (7-8, 3.33) for Kansas City against rookie lefthander Jose Alvarez (1-2, 5.03), who was called up from Triple-A Toledo to make the start in the twin bill. Cheap NFL Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys China Cheap Jerseys From China Cheap NFL Jerseys Authentic Wholesale Jerseys China Cheap NFL Jerseys China NFL Cheap Jerseys ' ' '
