Fashion File Interview
Lynne and I are doing an interview series called "The Fashion Files."
My interview with David Giulietti, a local jewelry designer who does hand engraving, is the first of these fashion insider interviews. Please have a front row seat and enjoy the interview. AnnamarieDavid Giulietti: I was at a London wedding and there was a woman who had a really nice, modern dress on, and a beautiful bracelet that I think was two thousandthirteen hundred years old, twenty four carat gold, a giant piece of metal like a twisted braid with goats heads on each end. and there was no way that you could not see it from across the room and think that she was the average woman. The piece certainly wasn't average; it had that magical power to it. No matter when you wore it throughout timethat piece was great, it wasn't dependent on the time period to work. It still had all that power. So, that's what I shoot for that my jewelry will work a hundred, even a thousand years from now and it would work in the Pharaohs's time if you wanted to wear it then. I like jewelry to have power and punch, but also intimacy. That's the thing with engraving. People get pulled into the small details. I design so that it feels really good to the wearer and they enjoy wearing it.
Annamarie: What attracted you to engraving as opposed to another way of embellishing jewelry?
David: I got into engraving because it was a very direct way and because I like to have a lot of control over what I do. Engraving is a really intimate way to work with the metal. You can work with the metal and really get to know it in a different way. I can feel [the metal] like I'm playing a violin; like a musical instrument. I can work directly on the metal and any idea I have I can put it on the metal.
Annamarie: How long have you been doing engraving?
David: I've been doing engraving full time since 1985. I've been involved in artwork and metalwork my whole life. I earned a degree in sculpture and fine arts. Then, I worked putting together big art bronze sculptures in a foundry. I went from there to a guitar company down in San Luis Obispo that made metal body guitars. I ran their metal department. That led to engraving because they wanted to reproduce these old traditional styles, but they couldn't find anybody that could do it. So, I got two tools from a friend of mine who had tried to do it. He said, "It's your birthday today, so I'll let you buy these tools off of me." I bought the two tools, the two first chisels, and I went into the garage and started playing around."
Annamarie: What would be your suggestions for someone who wants to create different looks for an outfit using jewelry? Is there some really show stopping way of wearing it?
David: It seems like right now, one of the things is big replica Cartier jewelry price show stopping pieces: large pendant necklaces; things that draw a lot of attention that either use a lot of metal or large stones. One of the things that really makes [a piece] show stopping is the design, a really well thought out aesthetic. Especially in urban areas, people are a lot more visually sophisticated. They see good design as more important than a display of wealth or power like jewelry can be. In the city, people are more interested in subtler ideas, more fashion and more art, more high design.
Annamarie: What would your recommendations be for a black dress, if someone wanted to create a really beautiful look for it?
David: It seems like what I see going on and what I'm interested in, is the use of black metals: oxidized silvers and blackened steel and combining that with yellow golds and high carat golds and small gemstones, it's so elegant and it has the contrast between the gold and the black, not flashy, but beautiful. It's eye catching and it's a clean elegant style.
Annamarie: And what would your suggestions be for jeans and a T shirt?
David: The feeling is more youthful big ethnic and tribal styles are really great with jeans and a T shirt; a really good way to go. And big stones, like cabochons. I really like the rough stones, things that have a lot of flaws and aren't perfectly clean, odd shapes and a lot of the softer colors. Non precious stones, like chalcedony {a light green, pink, blue or lavender stone that is translucent, but not transparent} and [varied] colors (the red, blue, and white that imitation Cartier love bracelets price you see with rubies, diamonds), and sapphires, turquoises, chrysoprase {a light green, translucent chalcedony}, and different Peruvian opals. When you get into large pieces that have a lot of elemental power like that it feels really good. An old Cartier piece wouldn't really be right with jeans and a T shirt but, if you get something big, heavy with a high carat gold like a twenty two carat gold with a nice earthy stone that can be really beautiful in a ring. With jeans and a T shirt, it seems that rings and earrings are like the main accessories that really work because they're most visible, they're right on top. A brooch isn't really going to work with a T shirt. Pendants and necklacesit could be subtle and small and that could work, but I think big is not going to play [as well] with a T shirtmaybe a choker instead.
Annamarie: What is your favorite piece and why?
David: That's a good question. What I'm working on at the time is my favorite piece generally. And then, instantly, as soon as I'm done with it, it's replaced by the next piece. Right now, I'm working on sterling silver that is oxidized with green chalcedony and hand engraving and the engraving is gold and I just love the way it looks and feels. (I wasn't able to get pictures of this piece because it sold before David had a chance to take pictures of it. However, he has promised to send pictures of future work, so please check copy Cartier love bracelets 1:1 back for posts.) You know, it's very exciting and it seems like a really great fusion of contemporary shapes and forms with classical ornamentation on the top. I like that fusion. I think it's very current in the high fashion world. Those are my favorite pieces right now.
Annamarie: Sounds like an answer that I would give if someone fake Cartier love bracelets buy asked me, "What is your favorite thing?" What is the feeling behind your jewelry?
David: My work has a lot of punch and it's very forward. You can really see it from across the room or far away as being different. I think the thing that "makes it" is that it's also very intimate. When you own the piece or get near the piece or really look at it, it has a lot of small details that really pull you in. It's something that you never get tired of looking at it or playing with it. And then, that has sort of a magical quality to it, magical the way that if you picked up a piece of gold. I build a piece around whatever it is that the customer is interested in. It could be around a family stone, or if they want something for a specific event. For many, it seems like a "phase of life," people are at a point in their lives where they just want something to make that moment crystallize. We come up with sketches and I sit down with the customer. I'm really good at drawing out ideas onto paper and jiggling them around until they become the thing that we want to make.

CCHS track and field team ready for season's hurdles
Track and field team ready to fly out of the starting blocksWith the season of spring comes a season of change for the Crook County High School track and field team. A new head coach joins the program as do several assistant coaches.
The season flies out of the starting blocks March 15 at the Ice Breaker meet at Mtn. View High School and ends with the coveted state track and field meet held in Eugene May 26 27.
"The two things I would like to see are growth and to be up to speed with the other programs," said head coach Bambi Fraley, who was assistant track fake cartier love ring coach and head cross country coach at Southridge High School last season and held the same duties at Class 3A Sherwood for the six years prior.
A lack of numbers has always been a factor for the Crook County High School track and field program and this year will be no different. The squad will again be forced to compete with programs such as Bend and Mtn. View, teams with a large quantity of athletes. But although the CCHS team may not have as much depth as some of the other IMC teams, the talent is still present.
"We have to focus on quality not quantity," Fraley explained. "To compete, we have to have growth and that's going to take time."
Returning to this year's squad are district placers senior Erin Clark and senior James Siers. Clark will focus on sprints and relays, while Siers will try to make the district finals once again in distance.
In addition to Siers, seniors Seneca Steber, Sam Carter and Ryan Vaughan will compete in the track events for the Cowboys, while sophomore Candice Austin will compete in distance for the Cowgirls.
One of the biggest strengths for Crook County will be in the throwing events. Senior Luke Vinson returns in the shot put and the discus, as does junior Brandon Jasmin.
"We're hoping to go No. 1 and No. 2 in at district," said CCHS assistant coach Mike Towne of Vinson and Jasmin.
Senior Shane Conklin will also take his turn in the throws, as will senior Eric Groves, senior Andy Gray, junior Justin Radabaugh, freshman Chad Swindle and seniors Jamie Richter, Kendra Cartier and Shonda Garrett.
Junior Andrea Lucas will compete in the relays for Crook County and will also compete in the pole vault. Sophomore Jenny Evans will take on the hurdles, while senior Sara Evans will compete in the 400 relay and senior Trinity Welch will look to make her mark in the sprints.
In the high jump, senior Ryan McCarthy returns for the Cowboys, as do juniors Trevor Abell and Jamie Swindle. copy cartier love diamond ring For the Cowgirls, senior Kaki McLean will compete in the high jump, as will junior Misty Austin.

The coaches are not the only new aspect to the team this year. The Booster Club has provided uniforms for the squad while the district furnished a new high jump pit and parents of the team supplied other equipment needs.
"They went above and beyond the call of duty," Fraley said. "I am so grateful for them."
After the Ice Breaker meet, the season continues for the track and field team March 24 in Pendleton.
Coach Fraley said she aims to build structure within the program in an attempt to build a solid track and field team for many years to come.

Jewels And Gold Coins Lead Government Auction's June 24 Luxury List
Tehachapi California US
June 20, 2012 PRLog TEHACHAPI, Calif. In the world of sports cars, Porsche is a brand that has come to symbolize speed, quality and design excellence. On Sunday, June 24, Government Auction will make available for immediate liquidation a treasure trove of luxury items led by a sleek 2012 Porsche Panamera.
Fully loaded and in absolutely mint condition, the pre owned Porsche has only 225 miles on its odometer. In addition to the sexy 3.6 liter V6, 300 hp engine, some of its extras include a Bose Surround Sound audio package, heated seats, heated steering wheel, anthracite birchwood interior package, blind spot detector, park assistant, front/rear camera and Porsche keyless entry and drive system.
A magnificent example of German engineering and design, the Panamera is estimated at $90,000 $120,000, but like most other items in the auction, it has an opening bid requirement of only $2. (Note: winning bidder of Porsche must arrange for pickup).
The Porsche is in dignified company with an auction selection that also includes a luxe array of fine jewelry, gold coins, art and investment grade collectibles. Bidders can take their pick of beautifully crafted Rolex and Cartier timepieces. A handsome 1973 Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust stainless steel men's watch, model 6694, Serial 3859072, features classic styling and a large face. It carries a presale estimate of $3,150 $6,300.
The perfect "go anywhere" women's watch is the 1999 Cartier Santos stainless steel and gold watch, style cartier ring men fake W90058C4. A link bracelet style with secure Cartier style clasp, the watch has a replacement value of $7,000. Government Auction is offering it with a presale estimate of $3,500 $7,000 and an opening bid of only $2.
Effortlessly elegant, a 14K white gold pendant on chain features a 3.64 carat round cut tanzanite surrounded by 114 sparkling diamonds with a total weight of 1.40 carats. The eye catching tanzanite center stone is purple in color and professionally evaluated as being "near flawless." The necklace has a retail replacement value of $24,500, and its auction estimate range is $12,280 $24,559.
Putting one's money into antique coins has become a popular hedge against inflation. Collectors call this coin the "Half Eagle", in reference to the fact that its gold content is half that of the $10 Double Eagle. The coin was first introduced in 1839 and was minted until 1907. It contains 24.18% of an ounce of gold and is the only coin to have been minted at seven US mints.
"The Half Eagle is a must have in any coin collector's arsenal because of the rarity of this mintage in this condition," said Government Auction's chief auctioneer, Paul Sabesky.
High on the list of sought after antiques and vintage collectibles is an antique Wurlitzer Model 71 phonograph jukebox features Art Deco styling and has a decorative mounted speaker emblazoned with the words "Strike up the Band." An extremely rare survivor, the jukebox could make $20,000 $40,000 on auction day.
Other novelties to be auctioned include a 1952 Mills 5 cent high top slot machine with bald eagle motif and three reel, one armed bandit design, est. $4,050 $8,100; and a cast iron candy store cash register. The register has been fully restored and features an ornate marquee embossed with the words cartier leve ring replica "Amount Purchased." It is expected to fetch $2,850 $5,700. Eastern Time.

The eye catching tanzanite center stone is purple in color and professionally evaluated as being "near flawless." Putting one's money into antique coins has become a popular hedge against inflation.

Bistro Starts as the Place to Be
When I was just 17, I ran away from home, to be with all the pretty people, to be on my own. fake cartier love From Annie Lennox's "Diva" album
The roar of the pretty people divas all in their prima donna duds made hearing Lennox's album impossible at the premiere of Diva, David Wilhelm's new Costa Mesa restaurant last week.
It was the buzz that had this crowd humming. In one dark corner: "Wayne's gold replica love necklace World" siren Tia Carrere tossing her tresses as she spoke with fiance Elie Samaha about the opening of Roxbury South in Santa Ana, come fall. Rams linebacker Mel Owens. "I named the restaurant after Annie's new album," Wilhelm said. (He originally wanted to dub the new spot Blonde, but higher ups thought it sexist.)
In still another niche: Diva architect David Berman trying to lay some adjectives on the minimalist digs. "It's not post modern," said Berman, who came from San Francisco for the bash. "That's out. I guess it's classic contemporary, whatever that means."
Let's just say it's not classic Orange County. For starters, the 15 foot ceilings are deep purple, or eggplant, creating an Impressionist "night sky effect," as Diva designer Marlene Chapman of Laguna Beach put it.
And the loose fitting window draperies are an open weave black mesh, wrought from the kind of high tech cloth used to shade nursery plants. (This, along with a Gargantuan gilt mirror gives the place a "Phantom of the Opera" effect. Perfect ambience for diva types.) Another head turner: a gold Buddha backboard (over the entrance to the men's room) complete with basketball net, created by hip artist Doug Edge.
The crowd was a mix of the young and restless (Wilhelm wanna bes and devotees) and the mature and settled (mall mogul Henry Segerstrom was there with wife, Renee. "Do you suppose they named the restaurant after you?" he teased his elegant wife.
"It's fab," said Carrere, adding she would film the sequel to "Wayne's World" in March. For now, she's filming "The Rising Sun" with Sean Connery, thank you very much. "I play the female lead, a computer whiz with a deformed left hand," she said. And the beat goes on . . .
Planet Hollywood plans: It's going to be the battle of the openings when Planet Hollywood and Roxbury South both open in Santa Ana. (Look for Roxbury to open in September where the Old Courthouse Restaurant used to be. And look for Planet Hollywood to open in October at the former site of Reuben's Plankhouse at South Coast Plaza Village.) Restaurateur Antonio Cagnolo (Antonello, Spiga, Emporio Express), a partner in the $2 million Planet Hollywood franchise, says the grand opening "is going to be the greatest party Orange County has ever seen."
"We haven't finalized the plans yet," Cagnolo says. And Bruce Willis founding partner with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sly Stallone in the Planet Hollywood venture will sing and play in the band at the event.
Of course, Sly and Arnold also plan to be there and at the future openings of Planet Hollywood in Chicago, Barcelona, Cancun and London, Cagnolo says. All of which means Cagnolo will be invited to those events. "When you're in with these guys, you're in. That's the best part."
And while we're at it: representatives from Orange Coast magazine just returned from Rome where they shot Sly Stallone for the September cover.
The Center of Fashion: Cartier at South Coast Plaza picked up the tab for the Overture Luncheon held at the Center Club on Thursday to launch the Center of Fashion, a fund raising extravaganza set for Sept. 25 at the Orange County Performing Arts Center.
Guests who included models and the show's featured designer, Kevan Hall feasted on chilled tomato gazpacho soup and grilled chicken as they discussed the love necklace replica gold third annual benefit for the Center staged by its Guilds support group.
Hall, who has designed unforgettable gowns for singer Natalie Cole, promised a parade of about 30 of his creations at the affair, which will offer a daytime and evening show. (Tickets, ranging from $10 to $75, will go on sale at the Center box office Aug. 23.)
"I design fitted, tasteful, sexy gowns," said Hall, whose evening wear is featured at I. Magnin, Saks Fifth Avenue and specialty stores around the country. "With a touch of glitz."

Lawsuit by the Thomas More Law Center Challenges the Constitutionality of Common Core in North
ANN ARBOR, Mich., June 22, 2015 /PRNewswire USNewswire/ Responding to the concerns of parents and imitation cartier 18k gold bracelet teachers over the Common Core State Standards and the Federal government's control of curriculum nationwide, the Thomas More Law Center announced today that it has Cartier love bracelet gold replica joined in filing a lawsuit against North Dakota's governor, state superintendent and other state officials. The lawsuit claims that North Dakota's participation in the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium ("SBAC") and its implementation Cartier gold love bracelet replica of Common Core is unconstitutional and violates several federal laws that prohibit federal control of our public schools and their curriculum.
The Thomas More Law Center, a national public interest law firm based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, teamed up with attorney D. John Sauer of the St Louis, MO firm, Clark Sauer, to file the lawsuit. This lawsuit follows Sauer's success in stopping Missouri's membership in SBAC on similar grounds. Bismarck, ND Attorney, Arnold Fleck, has agreed to assist in the lawsuit as local counsel.
Plaintiffs in the case, who are all North Dakota residents and state taxpayers, include: Steve Cates, Catherine Cartier, Charles Cartier, and Robert Skarphol, who is also an elected member of the North Dakota House of Representatives. The Compact Clause of the United States Constitution provides that "[n]o state shall, without the consent of Congress . Accordingly, North Dakota's membership in the Consortium and membership fee payments of over a half million dollars per year, equate to participation in and funding of an illegal entity.
In addition to violations of the Compact Clause, SBAC also violates laws enacted by Congress. For nearly fifty years, federal statutes have prohibited the Federal Government in particular, the federal Department of Education controlling educational policy, including curriculum decisions and educational assessment programs in elementary and secondary education.
Although an increasing number of governors and state legislatures have expressed reservations about Common Core, a majority of states still belong to either SBAC or the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers ("PARCC"), both directed by the Federal Government.
North Dakota's agreement to participate in the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium North Dakota schools little choice but to align their curriculum to meet the imposed national standards and assessments, allowing the federal Department of Education to effectively control public education in North Dakota. The threat of loss of federal funding helped drive a growing controversy between parents and school administrators over parental opt outs and test refusal.
Across the country, many parents, after often drawn out battles, still saw their children subjected to "sit and stare" policies; suspensions; loss of honors, class trips, and athletic participation; or refused admittance to the classroom as a result of the opt out. "Sit and stare" is a practice of certain school districts forbidding students who opt out of testing from working on any schoolwork during testing hours and requiring that the students replica love cartier bracelet do nothing and possess no materials. The students must sit in total silence and do nothing while the testing takes place.
Richard Thompson, President and Chief Counsel of the Thomas More Law Center, commented on the federalized control of public education: "States have surrendered their sovereignty over public education in exchange for federal dollars. Membership in SBAC requires the adoption of Common Core; and as the standards are Common Core and the exams are Common Core, so the local curriculum must also be Common Core."
The testing associated with Common Core and created by SBAC, and its companion consortium PARCC, remains one of the most contentious issues between parents and educators. The tests have been heavily criticized for issues ranging from their lack of validity and transparency to appropriateness and data collection, as well as the amount of stress they inflict upon students and teachers.
The new wave of testing ushered in by SBAC and PARCC has sparked a national opt out movement as students, teachers and administrators grapple with the heavy burden created by these assessments. As schools and teachers are evaluated based on these exams, the exam is increasingly becoming the only curriculum.
As a result, the Thomas More Law Center previously developed a Test Refusal and Student Privacy Protection Form and a Common Core Resource Page as a general reference and guide for concerned parents and individuals.
The Thomas More Law Center defends and promotes America's Judeo Christian heritage and moral values, including the religious freedom of Christians, time honored family values, and the sanctity of human life. I was destroyed
An indirect victim of an alleged phone hacking broke cover yesterday to reveal how the scandal "ruined her life" after she was sacked by the celebrity who believed she was leaking personal details to the press.
Mary bulgari watch fake Ellen Field was Elle Macpherson's financial svengali until she was dropped by the model. Unlike many of the celebrities bringing cases against News International who put themselves in the public eye, she is "a normal person", as she puts it, who has been fighting quietly for years to clear her name.
While she is not one of the five "test cases" identified last week, her lawsuit which she has brought independently could be as big as any of them, Ms Field said.
"This isn't about me, although I admit I'm angry," she said. "I don't want to sound vengeful. My life has been ruined by this. But the whole debate needs to be raised. I'm profoundly depressed by how we are treating our democracy in a loose and careless way."
She was born and raised in Australia, and trained initially in art history and later in retail. She and her husband lived in the States, France and latterly London, where they and their two children have been, on and off, for the past 22 years. She is an expert in branding and in 2002 joined Chiltern, a large tax practice, to set up their intellectual property practice. The following year she took on Elle Macpherson to help her with her financial affairs and the branding of her name.
Brought up in the same area of Sydney, though about 15 years apart, they seem to have got on famously. Elle gave her Cartier broaches and sent notes of appreciation.
"She's a fantastic communicator and quick as a whip," Macpherson told a magazine in the autumn of 2005. "She has a fantastic scope of knowledge and is a very good mediator. She's one of my right hand people. I couldn't do this business without her."
Then, a few weeks later, Macpherson started worrying that someone was leaking stories to the paper about her. Ms Field arranged for Macpherson's house to be swept for bugs, but nothing was found, and suggested the model change to pay as you go phones. The mystery of where the stories were coming from went unsolved.
In November 2005, the atmosphere changed "like night and day". Ms Field, by now completely mystified, was accused of being indiscreet and in January 2006 Macpherson said she no longer wished to use her.
Precisely what happened next, and why, will be the subject of legal argument, but around this time Ms Field became ill. In any event, the following month the police told Macpherson they suspected her phone had been hacked. Ms Field says it is quite understandable that suspicion would fall on someone working so closely with the subject of intense press interest, but once the truth later gold bracelet cartier imitation confirmed when two people working for News of the World were sent to prison began to be clear, she was entitled to better treatment, she says. In fact soon afterwards, Ms Field, her reputation now suffering, was made redundant by Chiltern.
Her former client "could have saved my job", she Cartier love bracelet gold replica says now. "I don't know about you, but I couldn't let a bad thing happen to a person and not want to put it right. I hope I've brought my children up like that."
Did Macpherson not contact her subsequently? "I honestly kept thinking that they'd all apologise. I've always thought she was a decent human being. I got a card in April 2006 saying she'd been thinking about me and she would put pen to paper to explain everything. But I've never heard from her again."
Nonetheless, Ms Field retains an evident fondness for her. "I'm not saying she is a bad person at all. If she rang up tomorrow I'd be really happy. She's just as much a victim as I am in all this. But then some people can't apologise, or maybe their lawyers tell them not to."
Which raises all sorts of questions, not the least of which is: doesn't Elle Macpherson feel the sort of anger at her phone being hacked that provoked Max Clifford and Gordon Taylor to claim large sums in compensation? Yet her lawyer, Alexander Carter Silk, says there has been no legal settlement between his client and News of the World.
So what does Ms Field still out of work want from the paper? "I want an apology," she says. "And, if I'm honest, having been on 150,000 a year plus bonuses, I do want some compensation. I can wallow in self pity and I've had Cartier love gold bracelet fake a terrible time and all that. I got sick I've got a pacemaker now and I've been a runner all my life.
"But it really isn't about me. Or Elle. There are big issues here. We badly need a vigorous, free press and there are a lot of mad people in the country who would love to gag the press. This is a gift to them.
"We've got very brave journalists out there in dangerous countries doing incredible things, journalists getting locked up for telling the truth, and here we've got people listening in to people's phones to find out who they're sleeping with. It's disgusting."
She has some words for her fellow Australian Rupert Murdoch, owner of News of the World, which are more robust than you might expect from the deputy chairman of a local Conservative Association.
"Once you get power you lose all sense of reality. although I do agree he did not expect them to do this. He believed Andy Coulson and Rebekah Brooks when they told him it was one rogue reporter. His father must be turning in his grave."
