I own a campervan and it has become my personal mobile office and home from home. I use it often when I need to travel long distances, allowing me to travel across Europe without incurring the cost of hotels or campsites. It would suit a couple with young children who will love the experience of sleeping in its 'pop top' roof. Its limitations include the lack of a toilet and washing facility. I was getting more than 35mpg and the VW California an absolute pleasure to drive.

A hugely practical option for the adventurous traveller.

Given its very rudimentary nature, I was amazed to find out that this vehicle is the most popular campervan on O'Connors books, particularly when its direct competition from the same firm is the state of the art VW California campervan. However, after only a short period driving the vehicle I realised why so many people choose to hire this vintage above the modern VW California. The Barbarossa, the original English RHD deluxe Samba model, I tested proved to be a totally unique driving experience. From its 21 small windows (some of which are featured in the roof), to its double opening side doors and vast van cleef red clover necklace fake sun roof, this vehicle seemed to epitomise the idea of summer holidays. I struggled to get this vehicle to do more than 55mph, but the slow pace while driving around the lanes of Devon and Cornwall allowed me to really enjoy the whole driving experience. But four drum brakes and mechanical steering mean that you have to really anticipate the road ahead and use plenty of leg strength to slow down. The van turns heads and generates smiles wherever it goes, though some of that was no doubt due to my inability to find the elusive second gear.

The interior doesn't compete in any way with what is available in modern vehicles, but that isn't why you'd choose to take this vehicle away for a holiday. I loved the quirkiness of the interior and how it seemed to represent a time when enjoying the journey was just as important as the destination. For two people who want a bit of an adventure and to de stress from the modern pace of life this vehicle is the one for you because it simply refuses to operate at anything other than a relaxed pace.

You don't hire this vehicle for its comfort, but if you want a truly memorable holiday experience, this camper will provide it. It provides the same calming holiday experience, but only if you can learn to find the second gear.

The Tribute 650 is part way to a motorhome, as it comes equipped with a toilet and shower, but its size makes it more campervan than motorhome. I was really impressed with this van as it seemed to come with everything you could possibly need for a long trip. It is a two berth van with the sleeping area being the lounge seats just to the rear of the driver's seat. The beds can be made up as two singles or a double. The vehicle comes with three seat belts despite it being a two berth van, so the option for a third person in the bed exists. The vehicle is big enough for someone to make the meal while the other person relaxes in the lounge area. A great two to three person campervan with some superb features. I was a bit confused by the seatbelt sleeping arrangement and, for me, this was the one negative point of the vehicle as it didn't make sense. The van is bigger than the VW California but cannot accommodate four people.

I'd be amiss if I didn't mention this product, which allows you to increase the capacity of any campervan you own. Vango make a range of awnings that attach to the side of your van and I trialled their Airaway Kela Standard on the side of my own VW T30 panel van. The awning is self supporting and allows you to drive away from it. I managed to get it up with little difficulty, despite being in blustery conditions with strong winds on an exposed moorland height. Once up I was impressed at how much the awning cut down the wind and how calm it was inside. Inside threre is a sleeping area for two as well as a separate seating area. The space between the van and the sleeping area was well protected. It significantly enhanced the versatility of my van and is a brilliant addition to any campervan to increase space and functionality.

The 1950 Senate campaign of Richard Nixon against Helen Douglas reached an unequaled low

The California campaign for governor has dredged from political memory the infamous Senate race of 1950 between Richard M. Nixon and Helen Gahagan Douglas. Former San Francisco Mayor Dianne Feinstein has compared a television ad aired on behalf of her opponent in the Democratic primary, Atty. Gen. John Van de Kamp, to the smears against Douglas. Nixon's charges against Douglas purposely strayed toward character assassination. He questioned her loyalty, her "communist sympathies," her Jewish husband's loyalty and her votes in Congress, which were printed in the famous "pink sheet" that matched Douglas' "yes" votes with those of radical New York Rep. Vito Marcantonio.

Nixon's campaign strategist, Murray Chotiner, explained his campaign philosophy this way: "The purpose of an election is not to defeat your opponent, but to destroy him."

In those frigid days of the Cold War, Nixon not only impugned Douglas' loyalty, but called her the Pink Lady, "Pink right down to her underwear." Press editorials dubbed Douglas "the darling of the Hollywood Parlour Pinks and Reds."

Early versions of Nixon's "dirty tricks" habits were sprinkled throughout the campaign. When Douglas appeared on the USC campus, a hay wagon full of initiates in the Skull and Dagger fraternity sprayed her with seltzer water and doused her with hay. Members of this fraternity turned up later as prominent Watergate characters Donald Segretti, Gordon C. Strachan, Dwight Chapin and Herbert W. Kalmbach.

Eileen Nicole Ponce Orta, 22, had been missing for four days when Pomona police called her family last Friday to retrieve her minivan that was found illegally parked in a lot near the police station.

"They said they located Eileen's van and that there were no signs of foul play and no blood," said Tracy Ponce, the victim's mother. "I said, oh well, that's a relief."

Ponce said that when family members arrived at the lot, they found her daughter's maroon Plymouth Voyager with the front windows rolled down. He said the officers called Covina police and were told to release the van to the family or it would be impounded, Romero said.

"There is no way the officers could have known" there was a dead body inside, Romero said. "There's no mistake on our part. We have no right to go inside the vehicle."

But the victim's family disagreed. They said that because Ponce Orta was missing and in possible trouble, police had an obligation to conduct a thorough search of the van.

Pomona Mayor Norma Torres said she wants to know more about the department's protocols in dealing with such cases.

"It's certainly upsetting to hear, and my heart goes out to the family, who had to discover the body," Torres said. "I have a lot of questions that require follow up."

Ponce Orta's family filed the missing person's report on Valentine's Day after they hadn't heard from her in two days.

The report gave a full description of Ponce Orta and her van, including its license plate, said Lt. Ron McDonald of the Pomona Police Department. The missing person's warrant was entered into a national law enforcement database, McDonald said.

Ponce said Ponce Orta and her husband had been having trouble, and it was unusual for her to stay away from home for more than one night. She said the couple were in counseling and that Ponce Orta hadn't been heard from since Tuesday. Robbers grab pounds 5m from security van

As one of the guards entered the building, the driver was threatened with a pistol and forced to open the van door.

On Thursday, Hearnsberger flatly denied the allegations during an interview with The Times and said he was "blindsided" by the lawsuit, which he has not yet read in full.

"I'm being charged with a crime I didn't commit, and that's not something prosecutors want to see," said Hearnsberger.

"It not only suggests that I'm doing something wrong but it suggests that the other women assigned to the division are doing something to get good cases. It's outrageous."

Silverman alleged Hearnsberger referred to the African American women involved in her cases as "whores," and Mokayef recounted an instance in which he joked about a transgender attorney's genitalia, according to the complaint.

Silverman said he made gestures mimicking oral sex and placed his hands on her buttocks both in the office and at a 2013 work related event at the Biltmore Hotel where he afterward told her, "You know you like it," according to the complaint.

Hearnsberger likened Mokayef's vibrating cellphone to a sexual toy and he regularly told her she "smelled good," according to the lawsuit.
