After that medical examination, the FIA were satisfied that Alonso was fit to compete, but have stated that in case of any abnormal symptoms the driver has been informed he must stop his car immediately. McLarens Fernando Alonso and Haas Esteban Gutierrez collide in the Australian Grand Prix leading to the Spaniard being sent airborne Alonso is not scheduled to undergo any further tests unless he presents further symptoms. The whole situation is very bizarre to be honest, he knows whether he is fit and strong enough to get in the car, Martin Brundle told Sky Sports News HQ.I think it is going to lead to drivers keeping things quiet if they are not careful on this. Alonso will know, weve driven with sore bits or broken bits, adrenaline is an amazing thing, it is only when you get out of the car it really hurts. The double world champion completed just five laps during Practice One in China, with the session effected by two red-flag periods.Watch the Chinese GP weekend - LIVE ONLY on Sky Sports F1. Tennessee turned out to be more of a College Football Playoff summer fling than a relationship that would last until the committee picks four teams. The Vols showed college football another good time on Saturday at Kyle Field. But a team that commits seven turnovers and 12 penalties is not one you can take home to CFP chair Kirby Hocutt. With all of its mistakes, No. 9 Tennessee still came back from a 21-point deficit, still scored twice in the last 2:07 and still forced No. 8 Texas A&M into two overtimes. But when quarterback Joshua Dobbs threw his second pick, the seventh turnover, the Aggies escaped with a 45-38 victory. They made so many mistakes that Tennessee coach Butch Jones threw in an extra one. Very, very proud of our kids, Jones began. Just the fight in them, the will to win. But again, you cant have eight turnovers.Actually, seven proved to be too many, especially when the Vols coughed up three of them inside the Aggie 10: two during regulation and the game-ending pick.I mean the way that they played this year when their backs are against the wall is incredible ... and they did that once again, Texas A&M quarterback Trevor Knight said, so you got to give them credit for making it a ball game. The Aggies are 6-0 for the first time in head coach Kevin Sumlins five seasons, and that may serve as a salve for the aches the Vols provided. Texas A&M spent the first four games of the season looking as if it had solved the defensive woes that have plagued it throughout Sumlins five seasons. But Tennessee made Texas A&M depend on offense to win. And give credit to Knight. The Oklahoma transfer ran for three touchdowns, including the game-winner, and threw for two more, but completed only 17-of-34 passes and threw two interceptions. Knight throws the prettiest sideline fades you have ever seen but cant complete a pass in the flat. Hes like a chef who whips up a mouth-watering eggs Benedict and cant put a piece of bread in the toaster without burning it.The wizened heads of football believe that bounces even out over time. And lets face it -- the Vols looked like they had built up an overdraft on breaks this season: the overtime victory over Appalachian State; the comeback from 21 down against Florida; the miracle between the hedges last week.Name another team that has fumbled the ball 15 times and lost only three of them. And then came Saturday, when Tennessee had to pay their accounts receivable. The ledger of bounces had to be zeroed out. The Vols fumbled six times and lost five of them. The Vols dispute that all the breaks have gone their way. Five starters didnt start Saturday because of injuries. Three more left the game and didnt come back, including fifth-year senior defensive tackle Danny OBrien, who was strapped onto a board and taken off the field early in the fourth quarter. The initial rreport from the field said OBrien had movement in all four extremities and was being taken to a local hospital as a precaution. Roberto Luongo Jersey. But he flew back to Knoxville on the team plane.Despite all of their mistakes, and all of their injuries, Tennessee spotted Texas A&M a 28-7 lead and delivered another remarkable performance. Dobbs led the offense to 684 yards. He threw for 398 yards and one touchdown and caught a touchdown pass from Jauan Jennings, the Hail Mary hero against Georgia. And yet nothing the offense did compared to the play that corner Malik Foreman made with just under 2:00 to play. With Texas A&M leading 35-28, tailback Trayveon Williams broke free from the Aggie 27 and raced down the left sideline. Williams, a freshman, rushed for 217 yards and a touchdown on 28 carries, but the 218th yard will stick with him for a long time.Williams carried the ball in his right arm, to the field, and Foreman took off after him. Foreman lunged inside the five, and with Williams at the 1, he punched the ball out of Williams arm with such force that the ball bounded straight out of the back of the end zone.Auburn fans still swoon at the name of Antoine Carter, the Tiger who punched the ball out of Crimson Tide tailback Mark Ingrams grasp in the 2010 Iron Bowl, sparking the Tigers comeback from 24 points down to win 28-27. Foremans play should rank ahead of Carter for the distance he ran. The turnover precipitated the Vols moving 80 yards for the tying touchdown in six plays and 1:08.Texas A&M came right back down the field and set up kicker Daniel LaCamera to make a 38-yard game-winner with eight seconds left. When Jones called two timeouts to ice him and LaCamera badly hooked his kick, it looked as if the Vols had found one more week of magic. You could not script everything that happened, Sumlin said. I said it last week. This team is not about panicking. ... There have been instances where things like that start sliding, and you cant get it back.An Aggie defense that had been on the field for 94 plays in regulation kept the Vols out of the end zone in overtime. LaCamera, just a few minutes after missing the game winner, came back onto the field and tied the game at the end of the first overtime. Knight scored from 1 yard out, and when Armani Watts made a diving pick of Dobbs at the Aggie 6, Tennessees season of storybook comebacks came to a halt.Minutes after the game, the Aggies lined up and faced their fans, each side arm in arm, singing the Aggie War Hymn. The swaying, braying sea of maroon in the east stands had several orange stripes. The Tennessee fans streamed up the stairs to the exits. SEATTLE -- Russell Wilson is already dealing with more injuries in the first three weeks of the 2016 season than the first four years of his career. Connor McDavid Jersey .This time, the Seattle Seahawks quarterback got lucky.Wilson threw for 243 yards and a touchdown before suffering a left knee injury and the Seattle Seahawks rolled to a 37-18 rout of the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday.Wilson was injured with about 10 minutes to go in the third quarter getting pulled down awkwardly on a sack by San Franciscos Eli Harold.Harold was called for a horse collar penalty, but the bigger concern was how he fell on Wilsons left leg.Fortunate. I dont think its as severe as it looked, Wilson said.Seattle coach Pete Carroll referred to the injury as a slight sprained knee and Wilson was set to undergo an MRI to verify the initial diagnosis.Wilson stayed down on the field for a few moments after the injury before walking off. Wilson missed the first play of his career because of an injury, but returned almost immediately -- and without perhaps the approval of his coaches -- to throw one more pass. The completion led to the third of Steven Hauschkas three field goals for a 27-3 lead and after that Wilsons day was done.He walked on the field on his own. You could see all the coaches were like `Nobody told him to do that, wide receiver Doug Baldwin said. But thats Russell though.Wilson had a brace placed on his left knee, and he never saw the field again, giving the final 1 1/2 quarters of the blowout to rookie Trevone Boykin.Wilson finished 15 of 23 passing, including an 18-yard touchdown pass to tight end Jimmy Graham. Boykin also threw the first TD pass of his career, hitting Baldwin on a 16-yard touchdown early in the fourth quarter.Baldwin had eight catches for a career-high 164 yards. It was a big day for Seattles offense that slogged through the first two weeks, scoring just 15 points in the first 120 minutes of the season. The Seahawks nearly matched that total in the first 11 minutes of the game thanks to the first two touchdowns of Christine Michaels career. It was amazing. I give all that to my offensive linemen, Michael said.Getting the start with Thomas Rawls out because of a shin injury, Michael had TD runs of 41 and 4 yards on Seattles first two drives, the first drive taking three plays and just 43 seconds. Michael rushed for 106 yards on 20 carries, the second 100-yard game of his career.Carlos Hyde two TD runs in the fourth quarter for San Francisco, but the 49ers had just five first downs entering the fourth quarter and missed on their first 10 third-down attempts. Blaine Gabberts streak of 12 straight games with a touchdown pass ended as he was 14 of 25 for 119 yards and an interception. We knew we were going against the most talented group defensively we were going to face and knew it was our job specially to convert on third down and we didnt do that, San Francisco coach Chip Kelly said.WILSONS INJURIESThe knee injury for Wilson comes on top of the Seattle quarterback suffering a sprained right ankle in the opener against Miami . Wilson never missed a snap against the Dolphins and played the entire game last week against Los Angeles, although his mobility was limited. Wilson appeared to have better movement on Sunday, but had only one official run for 3 yards.Seattle may not have wanted a bye in Week 5, but it could end up being critical for the health of its quarterback.STREAK SNAPPEDSeattle had not allowed a 100-yard rusher in the previous 24 games, a streak that dated to Week 11 of the 2014 season when Kansas Citys Jamaal Charles topped the 100-yard mark.Hyde finally snapped Seattles streak when he topped 100 yards on his final carry, an 8-yard TD run with 56 seconds left. Hyde finished with 103 yards.GRAHAMS IMPACTGraham seems fully back from the torn patellar tendon suffered last November. The athletic tight end had six catches for 100 yards and a touchdown in the first half on Sunday for Seattle.Grahams score was his first TD since Sept. 27, 2015. He later wrestled a 40-yard jump ball away from safety Eric Reid that set up a field goal. Graham also had an 18-yard catch to convert third-and-15 in the first quarter. It was his second 100-yard receiving game since joining Seattle via trade before last season.BATTERED NINERSSan Francisco lost two key players in the first half. Tight end Vance McDonald suffered a hip injury in the second quarter and did not return. And starting cornerback Jimmy Ward injured his quadriceps covering a kickoff in the second quarter and also did not return. The loss of McDonald was compounded when backup Garrett Celek was hit the back by Kam Chancellor on the first possession of the second half. Celek returned later in the third quarter.---AP NFL website: www.pro32.ap.org and AP NFL Twitter feed: https://twitter.com/AP-NFL Adam Larsson Jersey .ca. Kerry,  Just watched the shootout in the Coyotes/Leafs game and I have to ask, why was the James van Riemsdyk goal allowed to count?  All of the video replays we were shown on TV were inconclusive about whether the puck had entirely crossed the line or not. Bill Ranford Jersey . "Trying to breathe," he said with a grin. Bernier stopped 42 of 43 shots on Monday night, including all 22 in a hectic middle frame, his heroic performance propelling the Leafs toward an undue point in their final game before the Christmas break. http://www.oilersauthority.com/authentic-laurent-brossoit-oilers-jersey/ . Vokoun departed practice on Saturday morning after discovering swelling in his thigh. He was taken to a local hospital where the clot was revealed. The club announced the surgery following a 5-3 exhibition loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets. A postseason for the ages is behind us, and another offseason is underway. After many years carrying one of the heavier payrolls in the game, early indications are that the Detroit Tigers will be tightening their belt in 2017. This is big news, as there are many strong-to-elite talents dotting the roster. Cameron Maybin is already gone, and who knows who might follow: Justin Verlander, J.D. Martinez, and perhaps even Miguel Cabrera.Whoa! Just one second, yyou might say. Edmonton Oilers Gear. Cabrera, the guy with the contract roughly equivalent to the GDP of a small nation? Whos going to take that on? Well, it all depends on whether you still believe him to be an elite player and on exactly how much money the Tigers might take on to enhance to the caliber of player(s) received in return? A Brazilian police official has told The Associated Press that American swimmer Ryan Lochte fabricated a story about being robbed at gunpoint in Rio de Janeiro. Custom Tampa Bay Lightning Jerseys .The official said Lochtes teammates Jack Conger and Gunnar Bentz, who were pulled off a plane going back to the United States late Wednesday, told police that the robbery story had been fabricated. The official, who has direct knowledge of the investigation, spoke on the condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak about an ongoing investigation. He said that around 6 a.m. Sunday, Lochte, along with Conger, Bentz and Jimmy Feigen, stopped at a gas station in Barra da Tijuca, a suburb of Rio where many Olympic venues are located. One of the swimmers tried to open the door of an outside bathroom. It was locked.A few of the swimmers then pushed on the door and broke it. A security guard appeared and confronted them, the official said. The guard was armed with a pistol, the official said, but he never took it out or pointed it at the swimmers.According to the official, the gas station manager then arrived. Using a customer to translate, the manager asked the swimmers to pay for the broken door. After a discussion, they paid him an unknown amount of money and left.Earlier Thursday, authorities told ABC News there is video of the gas station incident.?ABC News also reports that the swimmers offered 100 Brazilian reals ($31) and $20 to compensate for the damage.Unfortunately, the swimmers told one lie after another, a Brazilian police official who had reviewed the video images told The New York Times. Weve been able to determine that there was no armed assault.Lochte first lied about the robbery to his mother, Ileana Lochte, who spoke with reporters, the police official told the AP. That led to news coverage of the incident and prompted police attention.A police news conference to discuss the investigation is slated for 2 p.m. ET Thursday at DEAT, a precinct that is part of the civil police in Rio de Janeiro.Conger and Bentz arrived at DEAT around 12:30 p.m. ET Thursday for questioning.International Olympic Committee spokesman Mario Andrada said during a news conference Thursday that neither Lochte nor his teammates need to apologize for the incident. We have to understand that these kids came here to have fun. Lets give these kids a break, Andrada said. Sometimes you make decisions you later regret. They had fun. They made a mistake. Life goes on.Andradas comments were made before the reports that a robbery did not happen.Conger, Bentz and Feigen remain in Brazil, as authorities have ordered the seizure of their passports. A Brazilian judge also ordered Lochtes passport be seized, but he said he has already returned to the U.S.Brazilian authorities said in a statement Thursday that Conger and Bentz were taken off the airplane.?A police source told ESPN Brasil that the swimmers were interviewed for just more than three hours at the airport, with a Brazilian lawyer and representatives from the USOC and the U.S. Consulate present.Stephen Conger, the father of Jack Conger, told ESPN on Thursday that his son slept in a hotel Wednesday night and was guarded by U.S. government personnel. Jack was never under arrest, according to his father. Its more a political ordeal than a criminal one, he said.Stephen Conger said the plan is for Jack to be on a plane home Thursday night. He said hes shared text messages with his son, but said Were as in the dark as anyone about what happened. I dont know if there was a robbery or not.NBC spoke with Lochte on Wednesday night and reported that he said he had left Rio and already returned home, as originally scheduled.Lochte backtracked on his initial comments to the network made Sunday, saying the barrel of the gun he had said was placed to his forehead was instead pointed in his direction. He also said the taxi wasnt pulled over but that the swimmers were robbed after making a stop at a gas station. He said when he was interviewed by police about the incident that no one had suggested he needed to stay in Brazil, nor had any officials expressed doubts over his account of the robbery, NBC reported.Brazilian authorities continued pressing the American swimmers over the ever-changing account of the robbery. Police said the swimmers were unable to provide key details in early interviews and they found little evidence to support the robbery claim. The swimmers said they had been intoxicated and could not remember what type and color of taxi they rode, where the incident happened or what time the events occurred, police said. The police official said officers grew suspicious when they reviewed security video of the swimmers returning to the athletes village and saw them wearing watches. The office of Judge Keyla Blanc, who ordered the passports seized, said there were discrepancies in the statements by the swimmers.Lochte told USA Today that he and his teammates didnt initially tell U.S. Olympic officials about the robbery because we were afraid wed get in trouble.Information from ESPNs?Shaun Assael?and?ESPN Brasils Gabriela Moreira was used in this report. Antonio Conte will be looking to extend his perfect start as Chelsea boss when newly-promoted Burnley visit Stamford Bridge on Saturday.Contes side has picked up three straight wins to start the overall season, but none of those victories have come easily. The Blues (2-0-0) needed late goals from Diego Costa to beat West Ham and Watford in the Premier League, before Bristol Rovers gave them a scare, coming from 3-0 down to leave Chelsea sweating over their progression late in the 3-2 League Cup win. However, Chelsea arent alone in looking a little disjointed at this early stage of the season and are expecting another tricky afternoon this weekend. There are no easy games in the Premier League, said Victor Moses, who scored the decisive goal against Rovers. Its 11 versus 11 so it will be a hard game for us, but the most important thing is to work hard together as a team.Weve won three in a row, weve got quality players who can win us games, collectively and individually, and well keep growing together.Burnley (1-0-1) produced the shock result of the early season when they beat Liverpool 2-0 last weekend. The Clarets had just 19 percent of possession, but got the better of their illustrious opponents thanks to aggressive attacking transitions coupled with the pace and cutting edge of forward Andre Gray. But even the quality of Gray couldnt help a much-changed Burnley avoid extra-time defeat to Accrington Stanley in the League Cup on Wednesday. The striker came off the bench in the second half and looked like the most danggerous player on the pitch after his introduction… until a late goalmouth scramble earned the lower league side a famous win. We know the challenge thats ahead of us and we know theres a group that wed more be hoping to get points against and we know theres a group thats more difficult to get points against, particularly away from home, and Chelsea come into that.Dyche added. It is the beauty of football, thats why we all love it, when you can go away to these places with a bit of freedom, take on the game and see what comes your way, he said. Its obvious were not leading the market with finance and depth of squad, but what will become apparent, and it already has, is we are willing for the challenge and well give every inch of ourselves to achieve what we want.Chelsea have taken 10 points from their last four Premier League games against Burnley, and won the title on both of the last two occasions the Clarets were in the top-flight.However, Burnley will back themselves to at least score -- theyve found the net in all but one of their last either meetings with the Blues. MIAMI -- A rare power surge from a pair of veterans lifted the Miami Marlins to their latest victory. Joey Gallo Jersey . Placido Polanco homered for the first time in more than a year and Jeff Mathis hit his first since last August, helping the Marlins overcome a three-run deficit in a 5-3 win over the Minnesota Twins on Wednesday. "That just shows you when you start playing better and guys continue to gain confidence, you have a lot of different contributors," Marlins manager Mike Redmond said. "We saw that today out of a couple of guys whove been kind of quiet." Miami is 13-9 this month and is ensured of a winning record in June following a 14-41 start. Still, the Marlins 27-50 record is the poorest in the major leagues. "Right now, guys are playing with a lot of confidence and having fun," said Marlins starter Tom Koehler, who allowed three runs in four innings. With the Marlins trailing 3-0, Mathis hit a two-run homer in the fifth off Scott Diamond (5-7). Just 5 for 52 (.096) this season entering the at-bat, Mathis had not homered since Aug. 24 for Toronto against Baltimores Matt Lindstrom. "I knew he was throwing a lot of fastballs and he was around the zone," Mathis said. "I was just trying to get a pitch up and put a good swing on it." Kevin Slowey (3-6), who pitched three scoreless innings, singled and scored the tying run on Giancarlo Stantons groundout. Slowey earned the win in his first appearance against his former team where he played from 2007-11. Logan Morrisons leadoff single in the sixth chased Diamond, and Polanco sent a 354-foot drive off Ryan Pressly just over the left-field wall. He had gone 350 consecutive at-bats without a home run since hitting one off Los Angeles Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw on June 4 last year. "That is one of the most professional hitters youll see," Twins manager Rod Gardenhire said of Polanco. "Weve faced him a lot of different years with a lot of different teams and hes always been a good contact guy. He puts the bat on the ball. As you saw he can drive one too. Hes good in those situations." Pressly, who made his major league debut this year, had not allowed a home run in his previous 23 big league games. Mike Dunn and Steve Cishek followed Slowey with an inning each of perfect relief. Cishek retired the Twins in order in the ninth for the second straight game and earned his 14th save in 16 chances. Joe Mauer had three hits for Minnesota, which has lost four of five. Minnesota took a 3-0 lead in the first off Koehler when Mauer and Josh Willingham hit consecutive run-scoring singles and Oswaldo Arcia followed with an RBI groundout. "You jump out like that with three runs quick and you think, Oh here we go and nothing happened after that," Gardenhire said. "We couldnt put them away. We had men out there. We needed another big hit early to put them away at least open the lead up and maybe have one of those kind of games, but to their credit, they kept battling back." Diamond gave up four runs and eight hits in five innings. He said he needed to do better and pitch deeper into the game. "Its not helping anybody. Its not helping my team, its not helping the defence, and Im getting sick of it," he said. NOTES: Miami has allowed three runs or fewer in 10 consecutive games, going 7-3. ... NEW YORK -- Not many people had Stan Wawrinka and Angelique Kerber down to win the mens and womens titles at the US Open. Allen Iverson Jersey .Novak Djokovic and Serena Williams were both toppled in what was an eventful fortnight in Queens, to say the least. Here are the 10 biggest takeaways from Flushing Meadows:Time for a Big Five?As Wawrinka showed off his new trinket, John McEnroe said on the ESPN telecast that perhaps now it is time we expanded the Big Four to the Big Five. The Swiss has now matched Andy Murray by winning his third major title, and he looks far more likely to win another one sooner than the injured, aging Roger Federer and the dwindling Rafael Nadal.Wawrinka is now just a Wimbledon title away from completing the career Grand Slam, too -- he proved at Flushing Meadows that he deserves to be included in the conversation when talking about the games active greats.Time to change treatment rules?ESPN commentator Patrick McEnroe was not happy with what he perceived to be gamesmanship from Djokovic. The Serb looked to be struggling with leg cramps but took a medical timeout at 3-1 down in the fourth set for what he said was a foot injury, just before Wawrinka was due to serve.Sorry man, Djokovic said to a complaining Wawrinka. I couldnt stand. The world No. 1 took off both of his shoes and had his toes taped by the trainer. But McEnroe was not buying it. Complete abuse of the rules, he said on the broadcast. Its up to the officials to do something about it. They just dont have the guts to do it. Thats the bottom line.Trainers are not allowed to be called on court to treat cramps alone, according to ATP rules, and can only be summoned to provide treatment for an acute medical conditionon changeovers.Wawrinka had to save a break point when play resumed, but he was able to close out the 6-7 (1), 6-4, 7-5, 6-3 win after 3 hours, 55 minutes.Clock ticking for SerenaSo, Serena is human, after all.Losing to Kerber in the Australian Open final and Garbine Muguruza in the French Open final seemed like mere blips when she claimed her seventh Wimbledon title. But what once seemed unthinkable finally came true when she limped out in the semifinals to Karolina Pliskova here, surrendering her No. 1 ranking to Kerber, the eventual champion.Had she made it to the final and beaten Kerber, Williams would have broken two of Steffi Grafs records. The American would have overtaken the Germans previously unbeaten 186 consecutive weeks at the top of the rankings, and her Open-era best of 22 Grand Slam titles.Williams will turn 35 later this month and is seemingly finding it harder to recover between matches, having appeared to struggle after a quick turnaround from her quarterfinal Wednesday night.I wasnt tired from yesterdays match, she said after her defeat to Pliskova. Im a professional player; been playing for over 20 years. If I cant turn around after 24 hours and play again then I shouldnt be on tour.Missing out on the calendar Grand Slam last year may had a bigger effect on her mentally than first thought, too -- she may not get another shot at it, with her air of invincibility now fading.Kerber can be the new queenWith Williams absent, Kerber and Pliskova put on a thrilling final in Arthur Ashe Stadium and suggested they could be the two big faces of the womens game going forward.Kerber also became the first female player since Serena to win multiple majors in a single year with her three-set victory.Serena, for me, is one of the best players in the world. She is a great person and a great champion, said the German. What she did for the sport, its just incredible. Im trying to go my own way and trying to enjoy now every single moment with my second Grand Slam. Its one of my best years, so I will just try to continue this and just trying, as well, to improving my game and my personality, as well.Just taking the next steps in the next tournaments.Throw in Muguruza, the French Open champion who endured early exits at Wimbledon and Flushing Meadows, and Serena has a huge challenge on her hands to re-establish her dominance.Murray must learn from his mistakesMurray was the man in form arriving at the US Open, with 22 wins from his previous 23 matches, a Wimbledon title and a second straight Olympic gold medal. But those efforts took their toll on the 29-year-olds body. After a few days away, I would imagine Id be very happy with how I have done and learn from this match and the summer as a whole, Murray said after his shocking quarterfinal defeat to Kei Nishikori. Its been tough. Its been a hard summer. Im happy with how its gone. Theres just a few things I could do differently next time.Murrays biggest mistake was agreeing to play in Cincinnati on the heels of his triumphant run in Rio. Perhaps he was just not expecting to make it all the way to the final in the Masters event, where he lost to Marin Cilic.I pushed myself as hard as I could over the last few months, and Im very proud of how I have done, he added. If someone had offered me the summer Ive had before Wimbledon, I probably wouldve signed for that.Rafa has work to doRafael Nadal must keep improving to get back to where his game was.It was unlikely he would challenge for the title, here, given the wrist injury that caused him to withdraw from the French Open after his second-round match and miss Wimbledon. But the 14-time major champion was expected to go further than the round of 16, where he lost a five-set thriller to No. 25 Lucas Pouille.I have the motivation to keep working, he said. Took a long time, a lot of hours, a lot of spirit of sacrifice to be back where I was before the injury this year. Was tough. And now I need to come back there. I dont start from zero. Thats a positive thing. I am closer than last year to be where I want to be.Currently ranked sixth in the ATP Race to London, Nadal must finish the season strong and ensure qualification for the World Tour Finals. That will be a good effort if I make that happen after two months and a half without competition, he added. I going to fight for it.Del Potro can be a threat againAfter three wrist surgeries in the past two and a half years, Juan Martin del Potro began his latest comeback in February ranked 1045 in the world.Today the 2009 US Open champion will be confirmed as the new No. 63 after his stunning fairy-tale run as a wild card to the quarterfinals was ended by Wawrinka.Moving forward, the 6-foot-6 Argentine will not just be a feel-good story but a threat at the Grand Slams. He will use his excellent summer as a springboard for the 2017 season, when a return to the top 10 seems inevitable providing he stays healthy.Never will ask for wild card anymore, he said, smiling. I need to just to stay healthy and wait for the preseason to get 100 percent for next year. Im already top 100, so thats good. And everything here is positive for me. Im so glad for that.Federers absence feltA US Open without five-time champion Roger Federer just feels a little less special. The 17-time major winner missed his first Grand Slam for 17 years after a back injury ruled him out at Roland Garros. His misfortune continued with a knee issue keeping him from competing at Flushing Meadows, and the rest of the season. He has spent his time hiking in the Swiss Alps to take his mind off the pain.Of course it hurts, he told the ATP Tour website during the tournament. I would love to play on Arthur Ashe. I would love to hear the roars of the crowd. Just being in the city would be amazing, being there with all the other players. But he couldnt switch off completely,Im doing fine. Im healthy, and Im enjoying a great time with my family, he added. And I catch myself, very often, checking scores of whats going on.The 35-year-olds time on the tennis court may be coming to an end quicker than we thought, but it bodes well for the game to see that he is still so engaged with it despite his absence -- tennis without Federer at all in some capacity is a dejecting prospect.Kyrgios can hit great heights if he heeds adviceNick Kyrgios showed glimpses in New York that he can be one of the best players in the world if he puts his mind to it.But he also found himself on the receiving end of some criticism from ESPN commentator John McEnroe, after retiring with a hip injury in his third-round match.Nick Kyrgios, if you dont want to be a professional tennis player, do something else, the seven-time Grand Slam champion said. Hes hurt because hes not training enough. It may have just been McEnroes way of getting through to Kyrgios, from one hothead to another. The Australian appeared to take the advice on. John McEnroe takes a stab, I understand, he tweeted, having pledged after his defeat to unseeded Illya Marchenko to be more diligent with his physical work in the gym going forward.Quiet, pleaseThe new $150 million roof over Arthur Ashe Stadium was both a hit and a miss. While it has an obvious upside, the roof seemed to trap every single noise inside the stadium and magnify it, causing a big distraction to the players. The USTA may have to take a look at how it can solve the problem.Murray was the first player affected by it, when the roof was closed for his second-round match.Im sure if the feedback is that, you know, the TV or the spectators arent enjoying the match as much then they will look into it and try and change it, Murray said afterward. But if its fine on TV, which from what I have heard it is fine on TV -- I dont know what the fans have said about it yet, but the players will adjust. ANAHEIM, Calif. -- As he prepares for his final start this year, the Los Angeles Angels Ricky Nolasco hopes an encouraging finish can provide the antidote to an exasperating season. The veteran right-hander will face rookie Daniel Mengden in the Angels second game of their series against the Oakland Athletics on Tuesday night at Angel Stadium.Nolasco, 33, brings a streak of 13 consecutive scoreless innings into the game since an 8-1 loss to the Mariners on Sept. 12.That appearance was the only one of his past five in which Nolasco did not record a quality start. Since Aug. 31, when he threw a four-hit shutout against the Cincinnati Reds, Nolasco has permitted just 22 hits and only six walks in 35 innings while amassing 27 strikeouts, compiling a 1.80 earned-run average and holding opposing batters to a .182 average.Coinciding with his stretch of scoreless innings is a two-game winning streak, Nolascos first of the season. On Sept. 17, the right-hander scattered five hits and two walks in six innings to the Toronto Blue Jays while striking out seven in a 6-1 win. Then on Thursday night, Nolasco combined with two relievers for a 2-0 shutout of the Houston Astros. Nolasco allowed five hits and a walk in seven innings and added five strikeouts. Not since August 2013, when he pitched for the Los Angeles Dodgers, has Nolasco refused to concede a run in successive starts.Right now, hes throwing the ball consistently, Angels manager Mike Scioscia told MLB.com. Hes putting his pitches together better. Hes able to command counts. Hes pitching the outside corner and hes pitching inside well. Mixing in both breaking balls is helping him.Nolascoos recent success provides a dramatic contrast with the rest of the season. Jamal Murray Jersey. Before his shutout against the Reds, the right-hander had lost four consecutive starts and five straight decisions. Entering that game against Cincinnati, Nolasco owned a 4-12 record and a 5.24 ERA, most of which he compiled for the Minnesota Twins. The Angels acquired Nolasco and fellow right-hander Alex Meyer at the trading deadline in a four-player deal for left-hander Hector Santiago.I feel Ive been throwing the ball well all year, but Im putting everything together now, Nolasco told MLB.com. Im trying to finish up strong.Mengden, like Nolasco, has struggled most of the season. Acquired from the Houston Astros last year for veteran Scott Kazmir, Mengden lost his first three major league starts after being recalled from Triple-A Nashville on June 11. A 1-5 record and a 5.73 ERA led to a trip back to Nashville before the As summoned him Sept. 3. After two more losses, the 23-year-old right-hander had the best performance of his brief career.Mengden dispersed three hits and issued no walks in seven shutout innings while collecting six strikeouts in a 14-5 rout of the Kansas City Royals on Sept. 15. The rookie retired 10 successive Royals from the first through the fourth innings.I got a lot of quick, early outs on weak contact, which is what we try to do, Mengden told the Associated Press. I went in every inning and tried to establish Strike One, which I guess has been one of my biggest flaws since Ive been up here.
