The AFL industry is bunkering down ahead of what is shaping to be the most active player exchange period ever. Cheap Air Max 2018 .Each club will be doing everything it can to improve its list for 2017, with more names than ever being thrown around as potential trade targets.ESPN has attempted to read the mind of each clubs list manager to select the most important transaction leading into the leagues annual silly season.ADELAIDE - Find an A-grade midfielder? The Crows were one of the leagues most exciting teams this year but their lack of midfield class proved telling at the business end of the season. ESPN has reported Adelaide are pondering chasing either Brisbanes Tom Rockliff or Carltons Bryce Gibbs, while the Crows may look to secure one of GWS excess mids such as Will Hoskin-Elliott or Jack Steele.BRISBANE - Work out your long-term strategy? The first point of of order for new Lions coach Chris Fagan is to work out whether to strip things back completely for a long-term rebuild, or attempt to steady the ship and get it sailing towards smoother waters ASAP. If its the former, then captain Tom Rockliff and speedster Pearce Hanley - both reportedly open to trades - should be moved on for first-round draft picks. If its the latter, the Lions must retain both and look to bolster all areas of their list.CARLTON - Repeat last years movesCarlton went hard in securing depth through a series of trades with GWS and Adelaide last year, picking up Sam Kerridge, Andrew Phillips, Lachie Plowman and Liam Sumner, as well as picks 8 and 11. That strategy worked in two ways - stemming the bleeding from an awful 2015 season and injecting talent into the clubs dire list. The Blues should look to do the same this offseason, with GWS trio Caleb Marchbank, James Stewart and Jack Steele primary targets. Carlton could also do their best to swoop on Sydney midfielder Tom Mitchell, if the Swans and Hawks fail to secure his signature.COLLINGWOOD - Sign quality ball usersFor too long, the Magpies have struggled with sub-par disposal, particularly through the back half and midfield, which is why they are possibly hunting the likes of Daniel Wells (North Melbourne) and Will Hoskin-Elliott (GWS). The Pies need to ensure whoever they bring in can add polish to their workmanlike midfield and defence. Collingwood gave up plenty to secure Adam Treloar and James Aish last season, so they must be crafty with their trades and drafting this year.ESSENDON - Trade pick No. 1?The first pick of the draft hasnt been traded since Fremantle in 2001 but the Bombers should be bold and offer the prized selection to the best offer. GWS are reportedly desperate to get their hands on the top choice and the Dons should push hard for a deal involving the Giants picks 7 plus their other first-round selections in 15 or 16, and/or a quality young player. This years draft is reported to be one of the most even in recent history, so if the Dons can get pick No. 7, plus Jack Steele for example, for the first pick, they could net two high-quality young guns for the price of one.FREMANTLE - Find a key forward. Or twoThe Dockers were lusting after Melbournes Jesse Hogan and emerging Giant Rory Lobb and their hearts were crushed within a couple of hours earlier this week when both young guns re-signed. With Matthew Pavlich finally hanging up the boots, Freo must do everything they can to find key forward options. One will likely be wantaway Giant Cam McCarthy, but he is a risk having not played at any level this year. The Dockers are reportedly interested in Geelongs Shane Kersten and North Melbournes Aaron Black and theyd be silly not to take a chance on one of those two.GEELONG - Trade Steven MotlopThe enigmatic forward epitomises frustration - he can make the impossible seem easy but too often doesnt do the simple things needed to impact games. He is reportedly on a $600,000 contract and the Cats would be smart to offload him elsewhere to free up salary cap room to chase other targets. Too much was left to Dangerwood last year, meaning Geelong should aim to find support for the star midfield duo. They are reportedly interested in Richmonds Brett Deledio, but could also consider Brisbanes Tom Rockliff. The Cats loaded up for a flag shot this year before falling short, and must reload again before its too late.GOLD COAST - Play hard on Prestia and OMeara, and nail their premium draft picksThe Suns must get the best deal they can get for Dion Prestia and Jaeger OMeara, who want to join Richmond and Hawthorn respectively. Both trades have a long way to go - with ESPN reporting Hawthorn may offer up exciting forward James Sicily as part of the OMeara deal - but the Suns should be sitting pretty at this years draft once the dust settled. Theyre already holding picks No. 4, 8, 21, 22, 24 and 27, and with more top-end selections likely to come their way, they must attack the draft as hard as they can - but this time, they must nail their choices.GREATER WESTERN SYDNEY - Load up on future picks? The Giants list is bursting at the seams with talent, meaning theyre well placed to be well compensated if, as expected, several promising players - including Will Hoskin-Elliott, Caleb Marchbank, James Stewart, Jack Steele and Cam McCarthy - walk. GWS will use most of their draft choices this year on a bumper crop of Academy kids (including possible first-round talents Harry Perryman, Will Setterfield and Kobe Mutch) and with the production line set to flow again next year, trading for future picks would be the smart move.HAWTHORN - Find contested-ball winners (even though Clarko doesnt give a toss)The Hawks were smashed in contested footy this year and while their coach Alastair Clarkson famously said he didnt give a toss about that statistic, its an area of glaring weakness for the former champs. Hawthorn are in the box seat to secure Jaeger OMeara from the Suns and Tom Mitchell from the Swans, which would almost solve the problem in one foul swoop (assuming OMearas injury woes are behind him). The Hawks have every right to aggressively push for another flag this season before their handful of champion veterans finally pull the pin.MELBOURNE?- Find a back-up for big MaxyMax Gawn was one of the revelations of 2016, pretty much singlehandedly carrying the Dees ruck division. But with journeyman Jake Spencer Gawns only real back-up, the Demons are on the hunt for another ruck option, preferably one with forward nous. Geelongs Nathan Vardy could be an option, or Melbourne may look to the state leagues for a tall prospect with upside. The Demons are already one of the winners this offseason after extending Jesse Hogans contract to the end of 2019. They dont have a first-round pick this year, but their trade for Essendons Michael Hibberd (in exchange for pick No. 26) could be one of the first struck on Monday, meaning the Dees could be one of the leagues quietest teams during the exchange period.NORTH MELBOURNE - Draft, draft and draft some more The Kangaroos have already signalled their intentions of a dramatic rebuild, having cut Brent Harvey, Drew Petrie, Nick Dal Santo and Michael Firrito. Fellow veteran Daniel Wells is also a possible departee, possibly netting the Roos an end-of-first round compensation pick. Fringe key forward Aaron Black is also likely to seek greener pastures. Having topped up to challenge for a flag, North should now use this opportunity to attack the draft as hard as they can in the search for young talent. The Kangaroos have an excellent core of inside midfielders, but will be after outside polish at the draft.PORT ADELAIDE - Let Matthew Lobbe walkLobbe almost departed Alberton last offseason, but the ruckman was retained and struggled for senior opportunities. With Paddy Ryder set to return next season after his 12-month ban ended, Lobbe will be further on the outer come 2017. The Powers salary cap is reportedly tight - hence the club putting Hamish Hartlett up for trade at the right price - so the club should look to accommodate Lobbes request for a new home. They wont receive as much in return as what was on offer this time 12 months ago, but it will clear Lobbes sizeable salary off the books and allow the Power to fix other areas of their list.RICHMOND - Get the Prestia deal done earlyThe Tigers have pick No. 6. The Suns have Dion Prestia. Simples. While Richmond may want to haggle over Prestias worth, pick No. 6 is just about spot on for a midfielder of Prestias quality and relative youth. If Damien Hardwick still believes he has a finals-quality list at his disposal despite the horror 2016, the Tigers should sign off on the Prestia deal early next week and then assess other ways to bolster their squad. As theyve signalled their intentions to challenge next year, not rebuild, Richmond should also fight to retain the services of Brett Deledio.ST KILDA - Grab Jack SteeleThe Saints were one of the best stories of this year, only just missing out on a finals berth on percentage. With quality across all lines, the Saints will unlikely break the bank for a big-name signing, but theyre chasing fringe GWS midfielder Steele, who could be a 10-year addition in their centre square rotation. Steele is a big-bodied midfielder who can also be a threat forward, with strong contested marking ability. His addition will add an exciting element to St Kildas already promising midfield.SYDNEY - Reconsider the Tom Mitchell contract Mitchell was one of the Swans best through the season, and indeed finals series, and Sydney have to do everything they can to keep him. Theyll need to increase their contract offer significantly if they are to prevent him from moving south - most likely to Hawthorn - which may mean they offload others. Gary Rohan could be one option, after a second successive average grand final performance, and his pace and potential could be attractive to rival clubs. Or could the Swans put Kurt Tippett on the table? The Swans may be loathe to lose the forward/ruck after his solid season (albeit he was ineffective in the grand final) but Tippett is on a hefty contract so if he was offloaded, the Swans could have the cash to splash on Mitchell.WEST COAST - Let Eric Mackenzie find a new homeLast season, Mackenzie looked a shell of the player who won the Eagles best and fairest in 2014. The key defender spent time in the WAFL this year and looked bereft of confidence but at 28, theres enough time for him to shine in a new home. The late-season form of Rising Star nominee Tom Barrass means West Coast have already got a permanent replacement for the veteran defender. The Eagles should receive a solid draft pick or player depending on which club wants to trade for Mackenzie, meaning they can focus their efforts in bolstering the lack of depth through the midfield.WESTERN BULLDOGS - Sit back and enjoy the premiership glow, but then try to re-sign Lin JongJong is weighing up his options after a tumultuous season in red, white and blue, but the Bulldogs could regret it if he joins a rival such as Gold Coast or Collingwood. The big-bodied midfielder, who plays with impressive hardness, played 16 senior matches this year, averaging 17 disposals, 4.4 tackles, and almost a goal a game. In the Dogs VFL premiership, Jong was named best on ground and looked a class above that level. Theyd be better off letting other fringe players walk instead of Jong, who could become an excellent second-rotation midfielder. Air Max 2018 . But what about the officials? Every sport has officials and they also have stories about hard work and sacrifice but their accomplishments are seldom recognized by anyone outside their inner circle. Despite the hundreds of millions of dollars spent by a growing number of Chinese Super League clubs in 2016, Guangzhou Evergrande continues to dominate, winning a sixth straight title on Sunday.Luiz Felipe Scolari made it two championships since arriving in June 2015 as the club was held 1-1 by Yanbian Funde but moved seven points clear of Jiangsu Suning in second with two games remaining.Guangzhou has dominated most of the season, helped by Brazilian internationals Paulinho, who scored against Yanbian, and Ricardo Goulart, the leagues leading scorer, as well as a number of top Chinese players.Guangzhou are a worthy champion for sure, Mads Davidsen, assistant coach at fourth-placed Shanghai SIPG, told The Associated Press. This is the sixth title in a row, so no doubt they are still the strongest team in China.Despite the dominance, the signs are promising for the Chinese Super League. The overall average attendance is set to finish close to the 25,000 mark this season, up from just over 22,000 in 2015. Once again, it is the highest in Asia,The fever here for football is something I have not seen before, Choi Yong-soo, the South Korean coach of Jiangsu, was quoted as saying by FIFA. The stadium and the fans, its all huge.Chinese clubs such as Guangzhou, Jiangsu, Shanghai SIPG and Hebei CFFC spent over $400 million in the winter transfer window on stars such as Alex Teixeira, Ramires, Jackson Martinez and Ezequiel Lavezzi. In the summer, Shanghai spent more than $60 million on Brazilian striker Hulk.Choi believes that all the investment will make a difference. The infrastructure is well-established and the management system of the club is well-organized, he said. They essentially have laid out the groundwork for further growth. It is an indisputable fact that Chinese football is developing at an unprecedented pace. The season also saw a number of prominent foreign coaches depart and arrive. Former AC Milan and Juventus boss Alberto Zaccheroni and ex-Brazil head coach Mano Menezes were fired in the first half of the seasoon by Beijing Guoan and Shandong Luneng, respectively. Air Max 2018 Sale. Menezes was replaced by former Bayern Munich boss Felix Magath, while ex-Real Madrid and Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini took over Hebei CFFC in August.Scolari, who has lost just three league games in his time in China, is one of three coaches in the running to be named Chinese Super League coach of the year, along with Spaniard Gregorio Manzano of Shanghai Shenhua and Henan Jianyes Jia Xiuquan.I want to say thank you to the players for their efforts and the fans for supporting us so well, said Scolari. This win was not easy. The league is getting tougher all the time and so it is very satisfactory to win the title once again.Davidsen agrees that standards are rising. We now have six or seven quite equal teams as Jiangsu, Shenhua and Hebei has stepped up this season, said the Dane, adding that big-spending Tianjin, promoted from the second tier with coach Fabio Cannavaro, will continue to invest in the top tier ahead of 2017. Tianjin will probably finish in the top half as they have massive finances.Scolari is expected to leave Guangzhou at the end of the season though the Brazilian refused to comment on his future on Sunday. Marcello Lippi, who led Guangzhou to three championships from 2012 to 2014, had been set to return before it was announced on Saturday that the Italian had been appointed as the national team head coach. The appointment was warmly received as an up-and-down year for the national team enters its final weeks. In March, China made the third round of qualification for the 2018 World Cup for the first time since 2002. One point from the first four games in Group A triggered the resignation of Gao Hongbo on Oct. 11.Lippi will take control of China for the first time against Qatar on Nov. 15. ARLINGTON, Texas -- Oakland rookie right-hander Dan Straily was well aware of the ace pitcher and the powerful lineup he was facing. Cheap Basketball Shoes Sale . Now everyone can take notice of Straily, who on television before his latest start saw plenty of highlights touting Yu Darvish being on the mound. Straily allowed only two two singles while facing 22 batters -- just one over the minimum for his seven scoreless innings -- and Yoenis Cespedes homered as the Athletics won their fifth straight game, 1-0 over the AL West-leading Texas Rangers and Darvish. "My confidence was sky high to start the game," Straily said. "The last few times out, I walked people, hit people, hurt myself. I wasnt getting hit hard. I was hurting myself. The whole goal today was go out and fill up the strike zone." Darvish (7-2) struck out five, but walked three and hit a batter while giving up five hits in six innings. With the help of a couple of defensive plays, the only run he allowed came when Cespedes homered to straightaway centre in the third. Cespedes ninth homer went just beyond the reach of Craig Gentrys outstretched glove. Darvish had turned and watched after the slugger took a big swing and connected. "As soon as Cespedes hit that home run, I knew just keep it there, 1-0 our best chance," Straily said. "The best pitching performance weve seen out of him to date, in this ballpark, against a guy thats probably not going to give up too many runs," manager Bob Melvin said. "I think he just gained confidence as the game went along. Early in the game, hes throwing strikes, hes getting outs, theyre not hitting any balls hard really, and you just kind of grow from that." Darvish had won all five of his previous starts this season when pitching after a Texas loss. The ace from Japan had his last seven regular-season starts at Rangers Ballpark, going back to last season, and had entered the game getting a league-high 9.1 runs per nine innings pitched. "Ive been really pampered with all the run support Ive been getting. Youre going to have games like this," Darvish said through his translator. Even with consecutive wins to start the three-game series, Oakland still trails the Rangers by 4 1/2 games in the AL West. The Athletics go for a sweep on Wednesday. Grant Balfour pitched a perfect ninth for his ninth save in as many chances this season, and his 27th in a row since April 2012, to close out Oaklands third shutout of the season. Sean Doolittle pitched a scoreless eighth for the As. Texas was held scoreless for the third time this season. It was only the 13th 1-0 game ever at Rangers Ballpark, which opened in 1994. A.J. Pierzynski, the Rangers catcher activated from the disabled list earlier Tuesday, had a one-out single in the third. Jurickson Profar had a single in the sixth, but the rookie was caught stealing when he took off toward second base before Straily threw his pitch. "I think this can be a jumping off point for him," Doolittle said of Straily. "That was pretty impressive." After winning his season debut April 5 with 11 strikeouts at Houston, Straily was optioned to Triple-A the next day when Bartolo Colon was reinstated from the suspended list. Straily returned in late April, and was 0-2 with an 8.84 ERA in four starts since until dominating Texas. "Ive never lacked confidence, but this is definitely the most confident Ive felt out there," Straily said. Darvish, who raised his majors-best strikeout total to 91 in 66 2-3 innings, came out after 101 pitches. He had averaged 121 pitches his last three starts, including a career-high 130 five nights earlier against Detroit in a 10-4 victory. "I was as usual, nothing affected from the last outing," Darvish said. "I really begged Wash. I wanted to keep pitching." Notes: Rangers reliever Neal Cotts got three outs on six pitches in his first major league appearance since May 25, 2009. Texas purchased his contract from Triple-A Round Rock earlier Tuesday. The giant slalom world champion slipped during her first run in the morning, landing on her back and then twisting forward before getting her leg caught in the protective material on the side of the slope. What were Barbados wickets like when you played? Quick, with more bounce than, say, in the UK, where I played a lot with Hampshire. There would be a light tinge of green on the pitch, rolled in to bind it.In Australia, pitches were even bouncier.Guyana and Trinidad werent bouncy pitches. Antigua was. Barbados was the quickest of the West Indies pitches when I played. The ball steepled more, which mean a lot of back-foot play.Your second Test tour was the 1975-76 Test series against Australia, when West Indies lost 5-1? What did you learn from it? It was a real eye-opener. The way the Australians played the game - verbals, bouncers, batsmen standing their ground until the umpire gave them out, which he often didnt, sometimes even when it was pretty obvious that they were out… It was the sort of tour where either you crack and give up the game or you put your head down and say, no, this will not beat me.What was the toughest thing about playing against Australia back then? The Australians were seasoned professionals, hardcore players who didnt give an inch, whereas a lot of us [West Indians] were on our first or second tours. Wed been in India the year before, playing on slow, low pitches. We had to grow up pretty quickly. The feeling was that this lashing we got would never happen to this group of players again. How have Barbados wickets changed between then and now? Theyre much slower now. Some of them have been relaid, or the preparation is different. That hardness you used to see in the Caribbean has gone. Unfortunately, you havent really seen the batsmen making use of the slower pitches. Thats one of the main problems in West Indies cricket. What made Barbados cricket special when you played? In years gone by, when teams toured the West Indies, they wanted to play in Barbados because they got good practice for the Test series coming up. The pitch was good to bat on but also good for bowlers. And Barbados had a team that was good enough to take on any touring side. Why did you prefer opening to middle order? I wasnt one for sitting around waiting. If I had to wait to bat, I would have been a bag of nerves. Not sure if Id have made it. I dont think I could have just sat there watching the others. I wanted to get in and get started. I didnt have the patience. Ive never been a great watcher of this great game anyway. Not even now. When I got out, I had to find something to do or somewhere to go.How did you prepare for a big game? Id take my favourite bat, maybe one that Id done some modifications to, put some extra rubbers on the handle, or [a grip] with more pimples to get a better grip. Then Id sleep with it by the side of the bed because you didnt want anyone to touch it. Before I went to bed, Id play some shots in the mirror, start to think of the innings before the game begun. Gets you the feeling that you want to get the game started, get out there and be part of whats happening. Then on the morning of the game you cant wait to get out there. What did you learn from Barry Richards and Roy Fredericks about opening? Barry was very quiet. Roy was, too. Unfortunately, no one got to see the best of Barry. At the end of his career, it was obvious hed got pretty bored, not being able to play international cricket.Roy was a dashing player, would almost play a stroke at every ball he faced. He was very courageous. It didnt matter who was bowling, how quick, he would challenge them. That was good to see.I liked to think of myself as someone who was going to take the fight to the bowler rather than the fight come to you. Challenge what is happening in front of you.Who was the better opener, Fredericks or Desmond Haynes? Totally different players. I only played for a short while with Freddo. He was the experienced guy coming to the end of his career. I was the apprentice, just starting out. Freddo was an individual, Desmond more controlled in the middle. He showed a lot of courage. Didnt flinch. Very committed. Both accomplished players, very different. Why do you think you and Haynes had such a good opening partnership? Desmond and I often shadowed each other. If things were going well for him, he took the lead. If it was my day, I pushed on while he dug in. Our communication was good. Wed chat well in between overs. Our running between the wickets got better the longer we batted together. Sometimes we didnt even bother calling. We just knew when to run and when not to.Sunil Gavaskar or Geoff Boycott, who did you admire most as an opening batsmen? Difficult to choose. They were both very dogmatic in their approach. Sunil was more attacking. His strokeplay and technique was spot on.A lot of people dont appreciate Boycs, but I think he did a great job for England. Okay, England didnt win many matches because of him, but you can say that often they didnt lose a game because of how he played. Why do you think Gavaskar was able to score against West Indies when most other batsmen of that time struggled? When Sunil played back, he stayed leg side, didnt move across his stumps, back and across. It was very difficult to play against those bowlers if you moved back and across. Most of them brought the ball back into you, with pace and bounce. It was only really Malcolm [Marshall] who swung the ball away. Also, Sunil was positive in the strokeplay. Allan Lamb did the same. Why do you think West Indian batsmen of your era played fast short-pitched bowling so well? Viv and Desmond did. I was a front-foot player, so you have to count me out of that. I didnt play the short ball very well. Its not a delivery that I enjoyed facing. Its just that some have the game to play it better than others. In general, I dont think people play it that well.Did it have anything to do with the amount of beach cricket you guys played growing up? Maybe, yes. The bowler would wait for the waves to come onto the sand and make it harder, and then pitch the ball short so it skidded at you a lot quicker. You had to learn how to play off the back foot. I learned to play on a 12-foot wide concrete strip between two houses. If you hit either house you were out, so you had to play straight.Did your West Indies captains say much to you about tactics and strategy or just leave you to get on with it? Clive Lloyd had a very good side. The bowlers had their own union and decided between them who would open the bowling, who would come on first- and second change. They would do the job according to how they wanted to do it, between them.Clive didnt restrain the batters from being as aggressive as they wanted to. Yes, at times it was the downfall of a few of us. More often than not, he allowed the players to approach the situation as they wanted to without being inhibited.ddddddddddddWhat was hardest to face, pace and bounce or swing and seam? At the beginning it was the pace and bounce. Id learned to play the swing reasonably well, so it didnt trouble me that much. I would consider myself more a front-foot player. What was the key to playing the swinging ball? Watch the ball very carefully. Play much straighter. Get a lot closer to the ball and cut down the swing. Dont stand back and wait for it to swing. Sometimes I would stand slightly outside the crease to do this. Patience would help here. When you went to strike the ball, you did it with purpose. Strokeplay should be purposeful. If youre going to hit the ball, hit it. Hesitancy was the downfall of loads of us.Whats the best way to learn about batting? Watch someone who does it well. You can only get so far listening to someone tell you how to play this or that shot. Much better to watch someone playing it. The cut, for instance, was one of my trademark shots, but there are lots of batsmen who play it well, so watch a video clip of one of them. If youre a coach, demonstrate, dont just talk. Its much easier if players see what to do for themselves.Best advice you received? Be positive. If youre forceful, its the opposition that have to change their plan of attack. How did you play the cut shot? You rock back, make good contact, and come down on the ball as you strike it. If you flat-bat it, the ball will go in the air. Roll the bat face as you strike the ball. That way the ball will skid off the bat surface, past fielders.Footwork is back and across, pivot on your back foot. Watch the video. Youll see how its done. Why do batsmen sometimes get into trouble playing the shot? They dont pick the right ball. If its short and wide, that makes it easier to execute the shot well. You can free your arms, extend the bat at full length and strike the ball really cleanly. The ball doesnt have to be that wide for you to play the square cut. You can back away, give yourself a bit of room. Stay balanced when you back away, though. If the ball is not too close to you, you might knock it back on to the stumps. How important is balance? Ideally youre on the balls of your feet, just beneath your toes. Its important to have a balanced stance, so you can move into position. Some people can plant their foot and then adjust quickly and rotate when they see where the ball is. But if youre too flat-footed its difficult to move quickly forward or back.Who taught you the most about batting? My mentor was John Arlott. Many times I got invitations to his home in Hampshire. We would have lengthy conversations down in his cellar, about cricket, life in general, how to set yourself up in this great game, what you needed to do to be successful and play for a long period.John lived in an old, converted, pub. He used to tell me not to be so attacking. When I was younger it was ingrained in you that you sometimes just couldnt resist trying to hit every ball for four or six. There were times when it was your downfall. So wed speak about knowing when to be aggressive and when not to.Did playing on green English pitches help hone your defensive technique? It helped all my techniques. Youd play on lots of different surfaces, on uncovered wickets, which I thought were unfair to the batsman. The bowlers run-up was covered, so hed have a dry spot to land on. Sometimes our bats had more mud on them than ball marks. And you had to score fast to set up a win inside three days. Those pitches made you think. Helped you develop the sort of technique that would bring you success when it was difficult. What are young West Indies batsmen today missing? They dont have enough cricket behind them - first-class cricket, quality cricket. They come in without anyone in the team to tutor them, because everyone is of about the similar level of experience. Its like theyre thrown into the deep end and either they swim or they sink. Makes it difficult for guys to speak to each other. Im not sure that any one of them could give the other advice, because theyre all in the same boat. What needs to be done to set things right? Regional cricket has to be stronger. At the moment its exceptionally weak, so its not going to produce the players youre looking for for international cricket. How Im not certain, but something needs to happen. If it doesnt happen, well continue to be the way we are. Its sad to see, but thats the reality of it.Whats the difference between how the champion West Indian teams you played in approached the game, compared to how todays West Indian teams go about it? I dont see the intensity in players today. The drive to represent the West Indies. I could be wrong, but I dont see it. To play in a Test match, in that arena, for the West Indies. That is the best, the thing you hope for as a cricketer. To see players with broad smiles after theyve just lost a game. Thats not on. A big no-no. Its like people are thinking, weve lost, never mind, on to the next one. A team cant not manage to make 200 in either innings and then go about the place smiling. Its like its no big thing to lose a match. Every game should be played like its a final. You win, then you move on.How did the teams you played in respond to losing? When we lost a match, some of the guys wouldnt even want to go out for dinner, wed order room service. Youd sit there and discuss the game. Wed think: yes, the opposition played well, but we had everything we needed to win that game, had it well in hand at one point, so what went wrong? Wed wonder where we lost our direction.Did you really play better when you were limping or is that just a myth? Definitely a myth. But it worked because people thought I did. I played with a chronic back injury for most of my career. I also perspired heavily when batting, which often gave me a stiff neck. Dont know what I would have done without Dennis Waite [the West Indies physio]. Hed get me on the field, sometimes with cortisone injections, but thats the sacrifice you make if you want to play. What are you doing now? Im hoping to raise money for Gordon Greenidge Primary School in St James, Barbados. Two schools, joined together and moved to a new site. It was the Barbados governments idea to name it after me. Im also going to be a tour guide on Englands tour to the Caribbean next March. Therell be two ODIs in Antigua and one in Barbados. DAVIE, Fla. Cheap Chiefs Jerseys Online . -- Kenny Stills actions Monday were the perfect microcosm of where the Miami Dolphins are right now.A day after he kneeled for the national anthem and later dropped a sure-fire touchdown pass in a 12-10 loss to Seattle, Stills stood in the locker room -- his hands cradling a football the entire time -- and spoke of a need for societal change. When done talking, he went out to the empty practice field and starting tossing that ball in the air to himself. His message on both fronts was simple: Things have to get better.Back home after an all-night flight from Seattle, the Dolphins started the process Monday of figuring out what needs to get better on the field to have a chance at New England this weekend. Theres also a process to decide what the Dolphins will do just before that game and if some players -- Stills included -- will again kneel during the playing of the national anthem. Its something that were going to continue to discuss, the guys that have made a statement, said Stills, adding that a league-wide group text-messaging session was held among players to gauge what could and should be done after San Francisco quarterback Colin Kaepernick made headlines by sitting during the anthem during a preseason game. I guess well see next week.Dolphins owner Stephen Ross said he supported Stills, running back Arian Foster, outside linebacker Jelani Jenkins and free safety Michael Thomas deciding to kneel during the anthem on Sunday, one of many protests undertaken by pro athletes in recent weeks. The protests have not gone without controversy, with supermodel Kate Upton among those condemning the move by the Miami players. Upton lauded Seattles players for all linking arms during the anthem.Stills said some Dolphins spent a large part of the six-hour flight home taking part in what he described as a powerful conversation about what the protests mean. Some players would walk past and enter the conversation, some were sleeping and some were in it the whole time.We want people to understand where were coming from, we want to understand where other people are coming from, Stills said. Theres no disrespect, theres no hard feelings, theres no hatred, theres none of that. As adults, we should all be able to do that.Dolphins coach Adam Gase doesnt view it as a distraction.Everybody believes in different stuff, Gase said. But thats the great thing about this building. Once we do this, were after one thing: winning. All that other stuff goes away. The mistakes were many against the Seahawks.Stills dropped what would have been a 71-yard touchdown pass from Ryan Tannehill early in the second quarter on Sunday. The Dolphins had a chip-shot field goal blocked, let Tannehill get sacked five times, converted only three of 14 third-down chances and allowed a hobbled Russell Wilson engineer a 14-play, 75-yard drive in the final 4 minutes for the winning score.Week 2 isnt must-win time, but the Patriots are the only AFC East team that won their opener. Should Miami lose on Sunday, it would already be two games back of the Patriots -- who figure to only get better when they get suspended quarterback Tom Brady and injured tight end Rob Gronkowski, among others, back.I dont think this one will be hard to get up for, Gase said.Game notes RB Jay Ajayi, who was left home last weekend, was back in team meetings Monday. ... KAPOLEI, Hawaii -- Waves, wind and darkness hampered the ocean search off Hawaii for a Chinese man reported missing while attempting to set a sailing record, the U. Ryan Shazier Jersey .S. Coast Guard pilot who was the missions air commander said Thursday. It was pretty frustrating not to find him, not to hear him, Lt. Ben Powers said at Air Station Barbers Point in west Oahu, the morning after the Coast Guard called off its search for Guo Chuan. The hardest thing we do is search for a person in the water because its a huge ocean.Chuan, 50, was attempting to set a sailing record from San Francisco to Shanghai. The search was suspended after a U.S. Navy crew from the USS Makin Island went aboard Guos 97-foot trimaran about 620 miles northwest of Oahu and found only his life jacket. As one of the pilots of one of the HC-130 Hercules planes that participated in the search, Powers spent hours scanning the ocean for Guo through 4-to-6-foot waves. There was no moon, he said, so illumination was low even with night-vision goggles.Rescuers radioed Guo every 15 to 30 minutes, Powers said. There was no response. When the persons in the water basically the only thing above the water is the persons head, Powers said. So thats really what were looking for -- something the size of a human head from an aircraft from 300 to 700 feet.Because Guos boat was well-tracked, rescuers had a good idea where he fell into the water, Powers said.Guo was a professional mariner with a deep passion for sailing. Our thanks to our Navy partners who helped us search for this vessel in a timely manner so far from shore in an attempt to locate Mr. (Guo) Chuan. Our deepest condolences go out not only to his family and friends but also to his racing team and the sailing community, said Capt. Robert Hendrickson, who directed the Coast Guards search.Guos sailboat, the Qingdao China, is adrift, and its main sail has been taken down, the Coast Guard said. The Coast Guard says it broadcast a warning to mariners to beware of the drifting boat.Guos racing team plans to recover the sailboat, the Coast Guard said.Guo was the first Chinese person to sail around the world in 2013, according to his website, guochuanracing.com.Guo left San Francisco on Oct. 18 to challenge the solo nonstop trans-Pacific world record. The current speed record for that journey is 21 days, and he was trying to sail from San Francisco to Shanghai within 20 days, the website says.In Beijing, the Foreign Ministry said on Thursday that Chinas consulate general in Los Angeles had alerted the U.S. Coast Guard in Hawaii when it learned that Guo could not be reached. Cheap Tampa Bay Buccaneers Jerseys .Previously Hamilton had been one of Halos biggest critics, but after viewing an FIA presentation during Fridays driver briefing at the Hungaroring -- which showed how Halo would have helped in a number of previous accidents -- he says he can now see the need for it to be introduced.I paid very close attention to the great briefing we were given on it, he said. I take safety very seriously and I think the interesting thing, while it doesnt look great and doesnt look in the racing spirit, you cant ignore the fact that the chances are 17 percent better of saving a drivers life in the incidents that have happened in the past. However, we still have to continue to improve and at some stage we would have to close the canopy completely because that would be 100 percent. There were still some examples, like Felipe [Massa]s accident here in Hungary in 2009, where it wouldnt have stopped him from being injured. I think with Justin [Wilsons fatal accident in IndyCar], I believe they said it wouldnt have saved him because it was a pointy object from above, but a closed canopy would have perhaps. You cant completely ignore it. If there is any way to make it look a little bit better then fine, but if not then its a safety thing which we have to accept.Hamilton went on to confirm that he now sees safety as the priority over aesthetics. It looked terrible [on the Ferrari in testing], but you cant ignore the fact that if one of us is going to have a 17 percent better chance of surviving a serious incident ...We have to continue to move forward, but Ive not driven it, so all I can say just from looking at it is that it doesnt look like it belongs on a Formula One racing car. Sri Lanka 117 (Lyon 3-12, Hazlewood 3-21) and 353 (Mendis 176, Starc 4-84) beat Australia 203 (Voges 47, Herath 4-49, Sandakan 4-58) and 161 (Smith 55, Herath 5-54) by 106 runsScorecard and ball-by-ball detailsTonight, Sri Lanka are gonna party like its 1999. Cheap Colts Jerseys Authentic . Specifically, like its September 11, 1999, the only other date on which they beat Australia in a Test. That victory came in Kandy with an XI full of Sri Lankan greats - Aravinda de Silva, Arjuna Ranatunga, Sanath Jayasuriya, Mahela Jayawardene, Muttiah Muralitharan, Chaminda Vaas. This win, up the road in Pallekele, is all the more remarkable for the dearth of such legends. Then again, it could be the making of some new ones.Kumar Sangakkara never played in a win over Australia, and the retirements of Sangakkara and Jayawardene seemed to mark the end of an era for Sri Lanka. And yet, from the depths of seventh on the Test rankings they have found a way to overcome the No.1 team in the world. Excitingly, new men played major roles. Kusal Mendis, in his seventh Test, turned the game with his jaw-dropping 176. Debutant Lakshan Sandakan claimed seven wickets with his left-arm wrist-spin.But there was one link to the previous win: Rangana Herath was there in Kandy in 1999, a 21-year-old sitting in the rooms, waiting for a Test debut that would come in the next match in Galle. Seventeen years later, a 300-wicket bowler whose hair is flecked with grey, Herath played a key role in securing this win. His nine wickets in the match including 5 for 54 in the second innings and, fittingly, he claimed the wicket that sealed the game.Steve OKeefe, who had stacked up more blocks than Legoland, leaned forward and tried to flick Herath through leg, only to be bowled for 4 from 98 deliveries. The Sri Lankans were jubilant. They had beaten not only Australia but the weather; the looming threat of bad light had hovered overhead as the afternoon wore on, as OKeefe and Peter Nevill compiled a partnership of incredible fight.Australias penultimate pair batted together for 178 balls for just four runs, a boundary scored by OKeefe, whose hamstring injury prevented him from running. There were so many dots the scorecard could have been diagnosed with chicken pox, but as they accumulated it was the Sri Lankans who began to feel sick. Would this opportunity slip away? In the end, it was Dhananjaya de Silva who broke the stand, when Nevill flashed outside off and was caught behind for 9 off 115 balls.Until then, everything had conspired against Sri Lanka. In the 79th over, OKeefe survived a huge shout for caught at bat-pad off de Silva; Richard Kettleborough turned the appeal down, but replays showed a thick inside edge. Sri Lanka, though, were out of reviews. Two overs later, the reviews were replenished, and soon OKeefe was given out lbw by Kettleborough. His own review, though, this time showed an inside edge, and he was reprieved. In the end, it didnt matter. Herath led Sri Lanka to victory, his threat ever-present, his mastery of flight, his persistent accuracy and subtle variations forcing intense concentration from Australia. The only occasions on which Australia looked vaguely comfortable in their chase of 268 were the times when Herath was being rested from the attack. And captain Angelo Mathews ensured that such times did not last very long. The eventual margin of 106 runs is all the more extraordinary when you consider the way this match began. Sri Lanka were skittled for 117 in the first innings and early in their second were 6 for 2, in real danger of a humiliating innings defeat. They still needed 80 runs just to make Australia bat again. But Mendis walked to the crease and from then on, it was a different game. His hundred, only his second in first-class cricket, will go down as one of Sri Lankas greatest. And just as Mathews will join Jayasuriya as the only Sri Lanka captains to beat Australia in a Test, so Steven Smith will now sit alongside Steve Waugh as the only Australians to lead their side to defeat against Sri Lanka. Notably, this was also Australias first Test loss under Smiths captaincy, and their first for nearly a year, since England triumphed at Trent Bridge last August.Smith worked his backside off to prevent it, his 55 in the second innings the only example of an Australian passing fifty in this Test. It was a watchful innings that featured only one boundary, but he had precious little help. Sri Lankas spinners were relentless in applying pressure. In the end, that was enough. Sri Lanka had won a Test blighted by rain and bad light, a constant irritant exacerbated by Sri Lanka Crickets refusal to use the floodlights. The fifth morning began late due to rain and it started with Sri Lanka needing seven wickets and Australia requiring 185 runs. There was plenty of turn on offer for Sri Lankas spinners but that should be the case on the fifth day of a Test; this was far from a bad pitch, and the conditions could not be blamed for the low scores. It took only until the eighth over of the day for Sri Lanka to strike, when Adam Voges advanced to Herath and chipped back to the bowler on 12. Despite a muted reaction from the Sri Lankans, the third umpire was consulted and discovered that it had not in fact been a bump ball, as appeared to be the case live, and Voges was caught and bowled.Smith and Mitchell Marsh put on 43 for the fifth wicket, a partnership that might have given Australia some hope of gaining sight of the target, but Herath was again the man who broke the stand when he straightened one just enough to trap Marsh lbw for 25. Next over, Smith was given out caught behind off a Sandakan wrongun but confidently asked for a review, which found clear daylight between bat and ball.Another over later Smith was again given out, and this time his review was forlorn. He was almost off the ground in resignation when the verdict came through. Again, Herath from around the wicket had straightened one just enough to trap the batsman dead in front. The loss of Mitchell Starc for a duck in the next over - he chipped a return catch to Sandakan - left Australia hoping for afternoon rain or bad light to allow them to escape with a draw. The loss of Nathan Lyon soon after lunch, lbw to a big-turning wrist-spinner from Sandakan, seemed to put Sri Lanka on the brink. But then came the Nevill-OKeefe blockathon. Australias hopes were raised, only to be dashed again. Sri Lanka had their second win over Australia, and their first against any team in Pallekele. They can now dream of wrapping up the series in the second Test in Galle, where spin typically plays an even greater role. But that is for next week. For tonight, they celebrate a victory of great significance. Whoelsale China Colts Jerseys .
