Dublin Festival To Feature Best Of Ireland's Arts Travel Notebook

An Antiquarian Book Fair will take place in Tailor's Hall. The Abbey Theatre will present Joe Dowling's new production of Sean O'Casey's "The Plough and the Stars," and the Gate will present Siobhan McKenna's "Cuairt an Mhean Oiche." A musical, "Dan Lowrey's Star of Erin," will be staged in the Olympia.
Performances will be given by the Dublin Contemporary Dance Theatre and by winners of the Arts Council Theatre Project Awards. On the lighter side, there will be street fairs, boating parades, circus acts, jazz and rock concerts, literary tours, craft displays and a poster exhibition.
In correlation with ContemporEire '84, the once in every four years art show "Rosc" will begin today and continue until Nov. 17. Featuring 150 works created since 1980 by artists from all parts of the world, the exhibition will be housed in the Guinness Hop Store. The former brewery storage building has been restored and redesigned as a display structure.
Among other art exhibitions are a show of Irish post impressionists at the National Gallery of Art, a group show of leading Irish painters at the Temple Bar Studios and photographic displays by David Hockney, Cecil Beaton, Henri Cartier Bresson and David Bailey. There will be "A Celebration of Irish Film," featuring works made in and about Ireland.
Yellow fever is prevalent in many countries between the latitudes of approximately 15 degrees north and 15 degrees south, and cholera and malaria are present in some parts of Africa. Vaccination for yellow fever is recommended for those expecting to visit dubious areas, and travelers between certain countries (such as Kenya and Tanzania) are required to obtain International Certificate of Vaccination.
