NAIROBI, Oct. 3 (Xinhua) -- New Zealand rugby Sevens team that was stranded in Nairobi for days after the Safaricom Rugby Sevens tournament following a dispute with the Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) finally left Nairobi on Thursday night.

Eleven members of the Auckland Metro rugby team got stranded following communication breakdown between the team and the rugby union as conflicting reports travelled back and forth.

"It is not true that the team had missed their flight after going partying in Nairobi. At a KRU board meeting later, we shall carry out investigations on the apparent breakdown of communication about the travel details," KRU chairman Mwangi Muthee said in a statement issued in Nairobi.

Muthee also dismissed insinuations that the players were not able to fly out of Nairobi after participating in the tournament "because every each team was to fly themselves as the KRU only catered for the journey to Nairobi".
