I thought of creating a new topic. You can post your story about how you discovered the game. Everyone will have a different story that isn't "I just randomly entered runescape.com into my web browser and created an account!" The game was first shown to me by a close friend I knew from my childhood. I visited his home and he taught me how to play. I saw the bird be killed, cut down a tree, and then create an fire to burn it. Exciting.
I told him reason why I was spending so much time with this nerdy nonsense and he accepted. The rest of the day, we did something typical boys of his age would do: compete in the pool or touch football.
I still get a lot of feedback about Runescape several months later from extremely annoying students in my class. It sounded a bit similar to the one I had with my friend so I decided to try so I could act all professional to the children. On Friday afternoon, I created an account. I lost it somewhere in Varrock so I made Sobend. I decided to play safe this time around and stayed in Lumbridge.
I was able to kill cows as early as level 20 and gain iron armor over time. When the kids in class were discussing Runescape, I barged in and started talking about how great I was. This was before Runescape was widely known and was viewed as nerdy. They were stunned when I shouted at them for talking too loudly on my iron longsword. It was hilarious for me. I later spoke with my friend who introduced me to the game. He taught us some other things, like the art of communicating via typing with others (something I could not do on my own). I kept working on my combat skills, and then began mining and making smiths. Then Runescape was released and cheap RuneScape gold I was ecstatic every day.
