Oklahoma Energy Resources Board is hosting a teacher training workshop 8 p.m. Oct. 12 at Kingfisher High School, introducing educators to board-established energy curricula and how to apply it in the classroom.Teacher training for early years or nursery education
It's free to attend and those who do will be gifted a free kit of supplies, valued up to $1,100, plus a teacher's guide and a stipend, according to an OERB release.Teachers also will be eligible for a free field trip every year they teach OERB curricula to their students, the release said.
OERB, which is funded by oil and natural gas companies and royalty owners, will have "OERB master teachers" at the workshop to introduce the curricula to attendees and demonstrate lessons and experiments.
Established in 1993 as a result of the Oklahoma Energy Education and Marketing Act, education is a primary goal of OERB, in addition to well site cleanup and restoration.Since establishment, it has spent $14 million teaching its energy curricula throughout the state, and $4.2 million providing field trips.
