NBC analysts pan Donovan McNabb benching

Dan Steinberg noted Sunday night that Washington analysts didn't have a lot of kind things to say about Mike Shanahan's decision to bench Donovan McNabb late in Sunday's loss at Detroit. Well, the national analysts weren't thrilled with the decision either.

Here's a selection of quotes from NBC's "Football Night in America" broadcast.

Tony Dungy: "If I'm Donovan McNabb, I'm hot. I'm your starting quarterback. As a coach, I can't take you out of the game when we have a chance to win if I believe in you. This tells me they don't believe in him."

Rodney Harrison: "What does it tell you about the coaching staff if they had the entire summer, spring, and two months within the season to prepare yourself? This guy is a veteran quarterback. He's not a rookie quarterback. Never pull him hermes bags birkin copy out, especially for Rex Grossman, are you kidding me?"

Harrison: "It was an awful decision by Mike Shanahan. Donovan McNabb is not a rookie quarterback. He's a veteran guy. What type of statement are you making to your team saying that I am pulling my best player and sitting him on the bench in the most critical situation of the game."

Dungy: "What you're saying is 'I don't believe in my quarterback.' And to me, you cannot do that unless you plan on making a quarterback change."

Harrison: "Donovan grows bitter at this point. He has two weeks to marinate on this and he's sitting there saying, 'This happened to me in the past. That situation didn't work out. Why would you replace me with Rex Grossman?'"

On the other birkin bag hermes cheap hand, we should have won yesterday, despite the poor running game and terrible protection for McNabb. Why? Because we killed ourselves with idiotic penalties yesterday Phillip Daniels offsides on the FG attempt which turned 3 points for Detroit into 7 points, Buchanon's defensive sac hermes birkin faux holding on 3rd and long, which gave the Lions a fresh set of downs and led to more points, Artis Hicks false start on a late drive, etc., etc., etc.

Basically, we played like the Cowboys yesterday, committing too many crucial penalties that kept Detroit in the game.

The Skins can't change most of their O line in midseason nor can they discover a beast WR to help the passing game, but they CAN eliminate the mental errors, and if they do that, they can win another 5 games.

I'm still saying 9 7 is possible, provided they play SMART football in the last 8 games. He's not a rookie quarterback. Never pull him out, especially for Rex Grossman, are you kidding me?"

Yeah, but as a commentator, birkin bag colors cheap Dungy's in the entertainment business now. He's a smart guy, but these folks tell the audience what they want to hear. That's why they pick the Cowboys to win the Superbowl each year.

His second job is a paid moral consultant to the league. He takes players who make the league look bad on fishing trips.

But, I digress. It really didn't matter who was under center yesterday. The Skins offense might as well have played with two tackles, a snapper, 2 fullbacks, 2 tight ends, 2 running backs, and 2 recievers. The Skins offense might as well have played with two tackles, a snapper, 2 fullbacks, 2 tight ends, 2 running backs, and 2 recievers. The Redskins are one of the absolute worst teams in the league and somehow managed to win 4 games with smoke and mirrors. They'll finish at 6 10 or 7 9.

These were moves designed to fill real needs yet you might as well score it as 0 fer. We still need more play makers, but for such a rotten foundation, 4 4 at this point in the season is pretty good.
