The marathon auction, which continued without a break but a change of auctioneer every hour or so, was one of Christie's longest. It started at 10am and continued late into the evening.
Dermot Chichester, the chairman of Christie's UK, said: "There is an electric atmosphere and we are seeing extraordinary prices for very mundane objects.
"Domestic silver valued at 200 or 300 is selling for 20 or 30 times that, which is unprecedented. It's because of the provenance. There are not many faces here I recognise. We have plenty of the great British public, replica cartier love diamond bracelet, people who have never been to Christie's before and may never again."
Mr Chichester said that the prices were too inflated to attract trade buyers, replica bracelet cartier, as they would not be able to make a profit on an item.
"It is all about the theatre and excitement of the moment," he said. "You couldn't repeat it."
A Disney Snow White breakfast set, which Princess Margaret had owned as a child, sold for 7,200. Mr Chichester said: "You would find that sort of thing in a village fete for 5 but it would not have belonged to Princess Margaret."
The princess's love of smoking was reflected in the sale as at least 10 cigarette cases and countless ashtrays were among the lots.
A gold Cartier cigarette case given to the princess as a Christmas present by her father George VI in 1949 sold for 102,000, more than 20 times its guide price of 3,000 to 5,000. The case contained the inscription: "To Margaret from her very devoted Papa GR."
A book containing hand written menus for lunch and dinner, in which Princess Margaret had put a cross against her preferred options, sold for 13,000, despite a guide of only 200 to 300.
Three silver pepperettes, which had been used in Princess Margaret's private apartment at Kensington Palace, sold for 15,600, many times the estimate of 200 to 300.
A set of three leather 1950s travelling trunks, one painted HRH Princess Margaret, and, with a guide price of 300 to 500, sold for 7,replica cartier love braclets,200. As the bids mounted, Mr Chichester joked: "It i's still cheaper than Louis Vuitton."

However, many were also first time visitors hoping to pick up one of the less expensive items.
Christie's will make at least 2 million from the auction.
Proceeds from about 30 of yesterday's 600 lots, mostly gifts to the princess, will be donated to charities.
Margaret Lavender, the 67 year old who bought one of Margaret's rings on Tuesday, was back at the sale yesterday.
The housewife, from Middle Woodford, near Salisbury, bought a desk and a bronze figure of Margot Fonteyn. She paid 7,800 for the figure and 9,000 for the desk which she said was "a bargain".
