WASHINGTON Cheap Under Armour Curry Shoes Wholesale , May 11 (Xinhua) -- U.S. space agency NASA said Monday the mysterious bright spots on the dwarf planet Ceres are preliminarily resolved in a new sequence of images taken by its Dawn spacecraft early this month.

After analyzing these images, taken by Dawn on May 3 and 4, NASA determined that the brightest spots within a crater in the northern hemisphere are actually composed of many smaller spots, although their exact nature remains unknown.

"Dawn scientists can now conclude that the intense brightness of these spots is due to the reflection of sunlight by highly reflective material on the surface, possibly ice," Christopher Russell, principal investigator for the Dawn mission from the University of California, Los Angeles, said in a NASA statement.

These images, taken from a distance of 13,600 kilometers, offer scientists new insights into crater shapes and sizes, and a host of other intriguing geological features on the surface, the U.S. space agency said.

Ceres was discovered in 1801 by astronomer Giuseppe Piazzi, who named the object for the Roman goddess of agriculture, grain crops, fertility and motherly relationships.

Originally described as a planet, Ceres was later categorized as an asteroid, and then reclassified as a dwarf planet in 2006.

The mysterious world has an average diameter of 590 miles (950 kilometers), and is thought to contain a large amount of ice.

Launched in 2007, Dawn is the first mission to visit a dwarf planet and the first to orbit two distinct solar system targets. It studied giant asteroid Vesta for 14 months in 2011 and 2012, and arrived at Ceres on March 6.

The spacecraft has now concluded its first mapping orbit and is now heading downwards to get to an altitude of 2,700 miles (4,400 kilometers) -- three times closer than the previous orbit. It's expected to enter the second mapping orbit on June 6 to comprehensively study the surface of Ceres.

Bob Dylan, music legend and Nobel laureate, is also a prolific painter whose works depicting the landscapes and culture of the US are now the focus of a major London exhibition.

Around 200 paintings by the US singer-songwriter, produced by the 75-year-old in the last two years, are on show from Saturday at the Halcyon Gallery in the British capital's plush Mayfair district.

The collection of oil, acrylic and watercolour paintings reveals a different side to Robert Allen Zimmerman, an icon of 20th century US popular music, whose poetic lyrics earned him the Nobel Prize for literature last month, to much surprise.

Dylan announced last week that he would travel to Stockholm to receive the prize, making the timing of this exhibition all the more apt.

"It's a great honor for us hosting the exhibition and for him to have received that honour at the same time," Paul Green, president of the Halcyon Gallery, told AFP.

Dylan began exploring the visual arts in the early 1960s. He designed the cover of the 1968 album Music from Big Pink by Canadian roots-rock group The Band. More recently, his works have been exhibited in Milan and New York.

"Dylan has been passionate about art since he first moved to New York and was taken by his girlfriend Suze Rotolo around museums," said Green.

Since then he has not stopped painting, using his numerous tours to sketch out the homeland which he describes so often in his songs.

The exhibition, entitled The Beaten Path, retraces the singer's travels across the four corners of the US, from its supercities to its immense expanses of desert.

"The common theme of these works having something to do with the American landscape - how you see it while criss-crossing the land," Dylan explains in a written introduction to the exhibition.

In San Francisco, Dylan chose to paint a seafood seller in Chinatown, rather than the city's endless Victorian houses or its skyscrapers.

One of the standout works of the exhibition shows an "endless highway" - a clear allegory of the artist's life: always on the road, between two towns, two hotels.

"This is the largest painting that Dylan has ever undertaken, it's monumental on every scale," said Green.

SEOUL: Pope Francis starts his five-day South Korea trip on Thursday amid tight security and excitement by Catholic South Koreans who make up about 11 per cent of the population - but the visit is not just significant to that particular community.

Tomorrow's trip is not only Pope Francis' first trip to Asia since he took over the papacy in March last year, it is also the first visit by a pope to any Asian country in almost 20 years.

There are some five million Roman Catholics in South Korea, but that will not be the only community closely watching Pope Francis' visit. The Pope is also expected to meet with North Korean Catholics living in South Korea when he holds a special mass for reconciliation and peace.

Lee Eun-hyung, a priest at a church near the border with North Korea, said: "I believe one of the reasons he chose South Korea as his first visit in Asia is linked to peace on the Korean peninsula and the division of South and North Korea. We anticipate his strong message on peace will give us hope in the future."

Pope Francis will also meet with South Korean President Park Geun-hye, as well as hold a mass at a stadium in Daejon, where most of the persecution of Korean Catholics took place in the 18th and 19th centuries. The Pope will also meet with students who survived the Sewol ferry sinking tragedy as well as families of those who died in Daejon. He will also attend the 6th Asian Youth Day, which a gathering of Catholic youths from more than 15 countries.

The Pope will hold a mass in Gwanghwamun Square where more than one million Koreans are expected to gather.
