BEIJING nike cortez schweiz , July 14 (Xinhua) -- With the stock market in turmoil, the economy in search of a new source of growth and looming uncertainties outside the country - it has been a scorching summer for China's policymakers.

As China prepares to release growth data for the second quarter on Wednesday, attention is trained on how the country has delivered on its pledge for a more balanced growth model and where the slowing economy is heading.

Analysts largely predict growth will slip below 7 percent for the April-June period as the effects of the successive pro-growth policies have yet to filter through.

While meeting with economists and entrepreneurs, Premier Li Keqiang stressed that China's long-term fundamentals have not changed even though structural conflicts having accumulated during years of unbridled expansion loom ever larger.

"China's economy still boasts remarkable tenacity, potential and flexibility," Li said.

There is little doubt China's potential for medium-high growth remains underpinned by such potential, he said.

Most analysts believe that momentum will gradually pick up in the latter half of the year thanks to monetary easing and expansionary fiscal policies. New policies should keep the economy on track to hit this year's growth target of around 7 percent.

debt crisis in Greece and interest rate increase by the U.S. Federal Reserve.

The Fed Chair Janet Yellen said on Friday that she expected "it will be appropriate at some point later this year" to raise the benchmark interest rate as the U.S. economy continues to gain strength.

The expectation for higher U.S. interest rates and declining Chinese interest rates sparked concerns about capital outflows from China, which may threaten the country's financial stability and complicate the central bank's effort to support the economy with lower interest rates.

However, Chinese Finance Minister Lou Jiwei has dispelled such concerns, saying the U.S. plan to raise interest rates may lead to a small amount of capital outflows from China, but the impact will not be significant.

"China's economy is relatively large and its economic structure is more integrated. It has not fully abandoned capital controls and is still wary of short-term capital flows," Lou said.

CAPE TOWN, Sept. 2 (Xinhua) -- A smear campaign is underway against those who are working to restore the values, principles and integrity of the ruling African National Congress (ANC) and society as a whole, South African Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa warned on Saturday.

"If the intention of this campaign is to weaken the resolve of those fighting to revitalize the ANC and unite our country, it has failed," said Ramaphosa.

Ramaphosa was speaking after a number of emails from his private email account have been illegally obtained and provided to at least one media outlet.

The Sunday Independent newspaper on Friday submitted to Ramaphosa a list of questions which suggested that the deputy president paid money to several young women with whom he was supposedly in relationships.

In his Saturday statement, Ramophosa clarified that there are 54 young students, both men and women, whom he and his my wife provide financial assistance to on a monthly basis and have done so for several years.

"It is unfortunate that evidence of these bank transfers have been used to make scandalous allegations against me and, worse, to make public the names of some of the people assisted," said Ramaphosa.

This latest episode extends far beyond an attempt at political smear, Ramaphosa said.

These activities need to be seen within a broader campaign that has targeted several political leaders, trade unionists, journalists and civil society activists, he said.

"Nearly all the people that have been targeted in this way have taken a public stand against the capture of our state institutions by outside interests and the looting of public resources," Ramaphosa noted.

It is evident that there is a well-resourced, coordinated covert operation underway to prevent those responsible for wrongdoing from being held to account and for the integrity of the law enforcement agencies and other state institutions to be restored, the deputy president said.

"This operation appears to have access to resources within intelligence circles with the capability to intercept communications and hack private emails," he added.

Ramaphosa is seen as a presidential hopeful to succeed President Jacob Zuma as leader of the ANC at the party's elective conferece in December this year.

As the conference approaches, this campaign will intensify, Ramaphosa warned.

"It is imperative that members of the ANC and Alliance formations remain vigilant against deliberate efforts to sow confusion and disunity," he said.

The time has come for the membership of the ANC to restore the organization as a genuine movement of the people, Ramaphosa said.

"As a leader, as an individual and as a member of a collective, my resolve to contribute to the achievement of that renewal is undiminished.

"We will not be diverted from doing what is right for our country and our people," Ramaphosa vowed.
