The Diablo 2 remaster just slightly changes the original's two-decade-old user interface. It will lack crossplay at launch, and Diablo 2 Resurrected Items its own cross-progression attribute requires players to buy the game double. Despite all that, Blizzard has obviously learned from its errors by making sure Diablo 2: Resurrected wouldn't replace the original (like Warcraft 3: Reforged did for Warcraft 3).
Remasters and remakes have become a core component of many developer release strategies due to their relative simplicity to create compared to brand-new IPs. Blizzard can spend a small portion of its own dev power to churning out remasters of its classic matches to make a fast gain and satiate fans since they await its larger projects, like Diablo 4 and Overwatch 2.
Developer Vicarious Visions partnered with Blizzard to create Diablo 2: Resurrected, which might bode well for the remaster. Still, both Vicarious Visions' previous releases were packages of at least two games under one title. Diablo 2: Resurrected, on the other hand, just includes one title and the Lords of Destruction DLC that introduced two new classes to the original.
Technically, the remaster also includes that the 2000 version of Diablo 2, since players will be able to toggle off the 3D images with the click of a button if they want to play with the first. That alternative is a fascinating showcase of the technologies utilized to create Diablo 2: Resurrected. However, that attribute feels gimmicky because most gamers purchasing the remaster will want to play with updated graphics, and the first Diablo 2 will still be available for $10.
Blizzard has not revealed how much it will cost for Diablo 2: Resurrected, however seeing how Warcraft 3: Reforged launched at $30, it will likely be priced around the same. Meaning Blizzard could charge $20 extra for what's essentially graphical improvements to some game from 2000. This may be a good way to get beginners to the series interested, but Buy Diablo 2 Items it seems like a difficult sell for anyone who has already played through Diablo 2.
