Lightning Protection System in Bangladesh: Power Ark Engineering's Solution
In Bangladesh, where thunderstorms and lightning are common, safeguarding buildings and infrastructure from lightning strikes is crucial. The frequency of lightning strikes, especially during the monsoon season, highlights the importance of having an effective Lightning Protection System in Bangladesh (LPS). Power Ark Engineering, a premier provider of electrical safety solutions, specializes in offering advanced lightning protection systems across Bangladesh to ensure comprehensive safety and damage prevention.
Why Lightning Protection Systems are Essential in BangladeshFrequent Lightning Strikes: Bangladesh experiences a high incidence of lightning strikes annually. This increased frequency heightens the risk of damage to property, infrastructure, and human life, making an effective LPS indispensable.
Human Safety: Lightning strikes can be fatal. Ensuring that residential, commercial, and industrial structures are equipped with reliable lightning protection is essential for protecting lives and preventing injuries.
Infrastructure Protection: Lightning strikes can cause significant damage to buildings, electrical systems, and sensitive electronic equipment. A well-designed LPS helps prevent costly repairs and operational disruptions by safely channeling lightning currents away from critical assets.
Regulatory Compliance: Adhering to safety standards such as the Bangladesh National Building Code (BNBC) and international standards like the IEC is necessary for ensuring that lightning protection measures are in place and effective.
Power Ark Engineering is dedicated to providing top-tier lightning protection systems tailored to the unique needs of clients in Bangladesh. Our services encompass the entire process of lightning protection, ensuring optimal safety and reliability.

Thirty-six people have been killed in different districts of the country in
three consecutive days, including Tuesday. Disaster Management and Relief
Minister Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya said the number was 80 in the last two
months. There is no single reason behind lightning. However, the Ministry of
Disaster Management and Relief has given some precautions to avoid this.
- Use Lightning
Protection systemin house.
- You have
to take shelter under a pucca house. In case of frequent thunderstorms, it
is better not to stay in an open or high place under any circumstances. In
this case, it is best to take shelter under a building.
3. Stay
away from tall plants and power lines. Thunderstorms are more likely to occur
on tall trees or electricity poles. If there is any tree in the open space, it
should be at least 4 meters away from it. In addition, there is a high
probability of lightning in a passenger compartment
or large tree in the open space.
4. If
you are at home, you should stay away from windows during lightning. The
windows must be closed.
5. Metal
objects should be avoided. Metal faucets, stair railings, pipes, etc. of the
house cannot be touched during lightning and storms. Even landline telephones
are advised not to touch.
6. It
is best to keep all electrical appliances off during lightning
strikes. If you get a hint of lightning, unplug them and
disconnect them completely. Unplug unused appliances beforehand.
7. If
you are in a car on the road during a thunderstorm, try to return to a safe
shelter as soon as possible. In case of heavy thunder and rain, the car should
be kept under a car porch or paved tent. It can be dangerous to touch the glass
of the car at this time.
8. It
is very dangerous to wear wet leather shoes or bare feet during a thunderstorm.
If you have to go out privately, then you have to go out after covering your
feet with shoes. Rubber
gumboots will work best in this case.
9. If
there is no shelter while working in the open or in the field, you should bend
down as much as possible and crouch down. Under no circumstances can you lie on
the ground.
10. Stay
away from water bodies.
11. Fishing
should be stopped during lightning.
12. 11. If you
are in a boat, you have to stay below six.
