My companion is ex-military. I still don't what happened when they were in the field, clearly oh there is tremendous. My partner has been looking for an escape of their trauma for decades. When you see a firetruck, you're walking out. And you're thinking, "Oh my gosh! I'm outta here! Why is there a firetruck here?" That's what you're thinking when a child appears in your life. But, then, you see the child doing something that makes you think, "Wow! That child is doing something normal. That child is not showing signs of something that you're noticing."

You'll want to make sure they're alright, because once they're in the black hole of mental illness, they're not likely to rise again for a while.
