"Can BOTOX Make Me Look Younger?"

We receive questions from potential patients who visit our Lenexa location for aesthetic treatments. We asked Dr. Margolin his advice for patients who have unrealistic expectations about aesthetic treatments. Dr. Margolin revealed that he told potential patients, "I tell them the truth: I am a M.D., and not a magician." I get that people want to look their very best. Everyone wants to feel great. BOTOX may temporarily reduce lines and wrinkles, but these treatments cannot make people look as good or famous as they did in college.

What can Aesthetic Injectable Treatments do?

Dr. Margolin compares the process of aging skin to folding a piece paper. Permanent creases can be created by folding a piece a paper repeatedly over many decades. The same thing happens to our skin! BOTOX and JUVEDERM injectables can temporarily reduce signs of aging by relaxing facial muscles or filling in specific areas.

What is BOTOX, and how can it help you?

Although it reduces wrinkle appearance by relaxing facial muscles this treatment is not as dramatic as plastic surgery. BOTOX may be able to help patients with forehead lines and eyebrow creases. What is JUVEDERM?

BOTOX

BOTOX, a non-invasive wrinkle treatment, is also available. However it is made with very different ingredients. BOTOX injections are a type of neurotoxin that relaxes and softens wrinkles and facial lines. BOTOX injections are used to smoothen lines and soften the wrinkles.

Juvederm, a non-invasive procedure that doesn't require surgery, is a treatment that is not invasive. Each solution contains a gel made of hyaluronic acids to fill in the wrinkles below the skin. Different types of volumizing solutions are available to adults in various formulations. They can be used to treat different types of wrinkles.

What to Expect from BOTOX Treatments and Juvederm Therapy

How long each treatment will last

While both treatments can be effective, Juvederm lasts longer and works faster. BOTOX can be used for just a few days. The effects will fade in a few months. To maintain your results, you will need to get additional treatments. The manufacturer may give you an indication that results from Juvederm injections might be visible immediately.

BOTOX injections, such as Juvederm®, are painless and only take a few moments to complete. The larger the area to be treated, the more you will need. Multiple injections can take a little longer to complete. The results of BOTOX treatments can take up to 24 hours to see.
