They will also have a limit on the amount of GP (or gold points) and players will be able to OSRS Gold stake the outcome of a game in the Duel Arena. Players will be allowed to bet "no less than 50m GP per duel". Additional measures aren't defined yet.

Jagex claims that "a new and exciting experience that's going to form part of the Elder God Wars storyline" will replace Duel Arena at the beginning of 2022, but no further details have been released yet.

While the full impact of these modifications remains to be determined, they appear to be among the most powerful measures any studio has implemented to prevent external abuse of its system for cash-flow. If successful, similar measures are likely to be implemented across the MMO space in future.

Jagex is announcing that, after 18 years as the most popular PvP arena, Duel Arena will be being removed from RuneScape and a brand new area has been added. RuneScape is set to release Het's Oasis and a brand new scenery, new techniques for gaining skills and two brand-new mini-quests to experience.

Beginning today, with the Oasis Restoration, players will be tasked for the creation of the Duel Arena following a cataclysmic earthquake that has devastated the area. Players must team up to transform the area from "a bloodthirsty fighting pit, where heroes have long staked their fortunes in one-on-one battles as well as a peaceful haven."

The participants will build the area and take on daily tasks that earn them rewards in line with their progress. Participants in the event for community members will receive special event rewards that include a new the crocodile's pet Buy OSRS Gold, a title wearables that are inspired by deserts, and footwear that resembles 'Gators.
