Nike Waffle One Wins Us Over With Its Vintage Charm from cady blair's blog
Force-aged shoes quickly became all the rage, with customizers constantly using yellowed soles, chalky edges and various forms of wear and tear. Nike has also launched its own "retro" shoe with much of the same treatment at Dunk High. But with its latest Waffle One, the brand opted to pay homage to the classic colorway, mixing bright green with a creamy backdrop. Aesthetically, these two pieces are reminiscent of works from decades ago. Bright, dark green Swoosh is the root cause of this phenomenon, as the color is often associated with retro style. The off-white finish applied to the upper part of the mesh and the tongue only amplifies the effect, essentially imitating the era, which is now a collector's item. The light-textured suede shoe, then, wraps around the top, opting for a grey finish, with the hue sitting between the white midsole/laces and the aforementioned base.
