The new kit follows manufacturers Puma's 'crafted from culture' theme and will feature a unique and stylish mosaic design which pays tribute to the artistic and creative heritage of Manchester, inspired by the numerous mosaic artworks that can be found in the city, especially in the Northern Quarter. The shirt also abandons the divisive purple trimming used on this season's home kit in favour of a more traditional white and navy trim to partner the classic City blue.As well as using a mosaic pattern on the kit, City have introduced mosaic artwork of club legends at the City Football Academy to help inspire future generations of players.
Mark Kennedy is the man behind the mosaics in the Northern Quarter and the Blues' training ground and as a City fan he is delighted to see the club take inspiration from his work. “When I began my journey as an artist, the Northern Quarter was a derelict area that I looked at and wanted to build up,” Kennedy told Man City.“My family and I have always been huge City fans, so I created artwork of the players too. "Over time I was commissioned to create artwork for the club and the city of Manchester, so I feel very privileged to see PUMA use my art as inspiration for the new City Home jersey.” Puma have also released three goalkeeper kits for Ederson and co to wear throughout the campaign. Each of the kits features a hexagon pattern with the home shirt being black, the away mint green and the third bright pink.
