The media center for the China International Import Expo opened on Monday, with 5G providing high-speed and stable Internet for more than 4,300 reporters, 900 from the foreign media. The 13,500-square-meter center in the A0 office building at the National Exhibition and Convention Center has information desks, public office areas, exclusive office areas, technical service stations, interview rooms, press rooms and a catering area.
Information desks on the first floor offer the reporters materials, documents and lost and found services. The public office areas on the second floor can accommodate up to 450 reporters. Four LED screens gives reporters information about the expo.
With commercial 5G services starting officially on October 31, the media center has become one of the first adopters to take full advantage of the technology. With an Internet signal based on 5G covering the entire expo venue, reporters live stream in high definition. Data transmission speeds are also much faster.
On the second floor of the center, Shanghai Concert Hall has set up a small stage for musicians.
The Shanghai Administration of Culture and Tourism is displaying 22 examples of intangible cultural heritage with Shanghai characteristics to showcase haipai (the unique Shanghai-style culture of East-meets-West) culture to reporters.
