China holds 5th World Internet Conference

The 5th World Internet Conference (WIC) officially Kicked off on Tuesday in Wuzhen, with the opening ceremony carried out yesterday. The Chinese officials believe in the power of internet to reform, shape and influence human development. The internet technology has been changing the individual, businesses, and government landscape exponentially over the past decade. Besides driving convenience and benefits such as economic growth, technology advancement has also created negative impacts such as unequal development and threats to security.
Despite not being able to attend the event, due to other engagements; President Xi Jinping sent his congratulatory letter to the organizers of the event, which were broadcasted during the opening yesterday. In his letter, President Xi has said that China should speed up the development of the country’s digital economy and to promote global internet governance system to inject new impetus to the world economy.
This is aligned with the technological revolution that the world is facing, alongside with industrial transformation.
Keynotes with regards to the fintech scene, alongside with artificial intelligence and Internet of Things (IoT) products development and connectivity will be discuss and held. Besides that, the summit will also talk about protection of personal information, the blurring of line between the use of internet in public services and the breakthrough in cybersecurity cooperation.
The closing ceremony of the event will held tomorrow at the Wuzhen International Internet Exhibition & Convention Center.
