Standard Specification for Zinc-Coated (Galvanized) Low-Carbon Steel Armor Wire
This specification covers zinc-coated low-carbon steel wire for use in armoring for protection against damage of submarine and underground cables used for communication, control, or power purposes. The base metal shall be open-hearth, basic-oxygen, or electric-furnace steel, ingot or continuous cast. The wire shall be furnished in coils of one continuous length. Welds made prior to final wire drawing shall be permitted. Mechanical properties such as tensile strength and elongation shall be measured. 1. Scope
1.1 This specification covers zinc-coated low-carbon steel wire for use in armoring for protection against damage of submarine and underground cables used for communication, control, or power purposes.
1.2 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as standard. The values given in parentheses are mathematical conversions to SI units that are provided for information only and are not considered standard.
1.3 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.
