A prisoner whose DNA was allegedly found on a gun used in a gangland slaying was jailed yesterday for six years for killing his half brother.

Heathcliff Jonathan Wilson, 31,imitation rolex oyster perpetual datejust cost, of Ferntree Gully Road, Scoresby, was found guilty by a Supreme Court jury of the manslaughter of Raymonde Benjamin Thomas, 26, who died on June 25 last year.

The jurors found Wilson's co accused, Mark Heyes, of the same address, guilty of murder. Justice Bernard Teague fixed a three year minimum jail term for Wilson.

Wilson, 31, was in custody when Jason Moran and his associate Pasquale Barbaro were shot dead while they sat in a van in a suburban Essendon car park in June. The court was told that Wilson had nothing to do with the murder of the pair, and he lived in fear and had a $150,000 bounty on his head as a result of the DNA allegation.

Yesterday, Justice Teague said Wilson and Heyes had invited trouble when they took a mattock handle and small knife to the Ferntree Gully house that the victim, Thomas, shared with his mother. He said the two men planned to rescue Sheryl Thomas also Wilson's mother from Raymonde Thomas, who had a reputation for being volatile and irrational, and who had been abusive in the past.

Justice Teague said Wilson inflicted injuries with the knife and Heyes with the mattock handle. He said the jurors found that Heyes intended to seriously harm Thomas,imitation rolex oyster perpetual datejust watch, but Wilson had not.
