Melbourne Demons pick Ainslie's Aaron Vandenberg in AFL rookie draft

Vandenberg became the fourth Canberran to join an AFL list this year, following in the footsteps of Jack Steele (Greater Western replica van cleef clover bracelet Sydney), Logan Austin (Port Adelaide) and basketballer Ivan Soldo (Richmond), when the Demons took him at pick two in the rookie draft on Wednesday morning.

The ball magnet has won back to back best and fairests at Ainslie the past two seasons andSANFL club Central Districts were also interested in him.

Vandenberg was washing his lunch dishes when he got a call from housemate and Ainslie teammate Dale Walker to tell him the news.

"I had a talk with Jason Taylor yesterday afternoon and from that it all sounded relatively positive, but they put little comments in there that make you question it," he said.
