The instructions were on letterhead from Universal Tech Inc. in Scottsdale, Ariz., but when the woman called the number she found on the Internet, she learned Universal Tech is a school. An employee there told her she had been scammed.

ENTERED AUTO: A 20 year old man called the sheriff office around 4:30 on Oct. 7 to report that his ex girlfriend was breaking into his car, which was broken down at her house.

A deputy arrived to find the 18 year old woman trying to get into the Honda Accord with a clothes hanger and a butter knife. The ex girlfriend explained that she was trying to break into the car to get a CD player that belongs to her.
