"Can BOTOX Make Me Look Younger?"

Potential patients come to our Lenexa office to receive aesthetic treatments. They want to look younger. We asked Dr. Margolin his advice for patients who have unrealistic expectations about aesthetic treatments. Dr. Margolin told us that he is an M.D. and not a magician. I know that people want to look their best. Everyone wants to feel great. BOTOX may temporarily reduce lines and wrinkles, but these treatments cannot make people look as good or famous as they did in college.

What are the Aesthetic Injectables Treatments?

Dr. Margolin describes aging skin as a piece of paper. You can fold a piece of paper in many different ways for decades and get permanent wrinkles. This is what happens in our skin. BOTOX or JUVEDERM are injectable treatments that temporarily reduce wrinkles by relaxing facial muscles, filling in specific areas, and temporary reducing the appearance of signs of aging.

What is BOTOX, and how can it help you?

The treatment reduces the appearance wrinkles by relaxing facial muscle, but it's not as dramatic and drastic as plastic surgery. BOTOX may be able to help patients with forehead lines and eyebrow creases. BOTOX reduces the appearance and texture of lines, as well as preventing them from creasing your skin. BOTOX can't treat wrinkles and lines caused due to loss of facial fullness. JUVEDERM, a dermal injectable that fills in the gaps between your skin and the rest of the body, is used to treat these issues.

What is JUVEDERM?

Even though it might not seem like this, our face loses fat with age, particularly in the cheek area. As we age, our faces become thinner and more saggy. This leads to wrinkles such as laugh lines and loss of volume.

Difference between JUVEDERM (BOTOX) and JUVEDERM

What's the difference in Juvederm and BOTOX injections? Both therapies have the same goals, but they have different active components. These non-invasive injections will be administered by a qualified medical doctor. or an experienced medical aesthetician. You can learn all about these distinctions to make an informed decision

BOTOX

BOTOX can also be used as a non-invasive treatment for wrinkles. However, it's made of very different ingredients. BOTOX injections can relax and soften wrinkles. BOTOX injections are used to smoothen lines and soften the wrinkles.

What to Expect From BOTOX and Juvederm Treatments

These procedures, Juvederm as well as BOTOX, take very little time and are very effective. Due to the amount of treatments required, larger areas may need more.

How long each treatment will last

Both treatments are effective, but Juvederm has a faster recovery time and is considered more long-lasting. BOTOX is effective for a few days but fades after a few weeks. To maintain your results, you will need to get additional treatments. The manufacturer may give you an indication that results from Juvederm injections might be visible immediately.

BOTOX injections such as Juvederm take just a few minutes and are very painless. The greater the area of skin that needs to be treated, you'll need more injections. It may take longer to complete multiple injections. The results of BOTOX treatments can take up to 24 hours to see.

The results of treatments

Here are some key distinctions between the outcomes of each therapy. Juvederm injections are often visible immediately. Sarah Skillett, RN, BSN received her nursing degree in 1998 from St. Luke’s School of Nursing. She began her career as an Aesthetic Nurse Specialist in 2000, and is one of the Midwest’s most respected and talented nurse injectors, who is passionate about her love for aesthetics. She has had extensive training from physicians as well as numerous national companies, and frequently attends national conventions to increase her knowledge and professional standing. She has taken several InjectAbility® Institute courses including ArqueDerma® and InstaTox® over the last 6 years. She was the first ArqueDerma® Practitioner in the Midwest to receive her license 6 years ago, and currently is one of only a very few who practice this patented technique.

Sarah is passionate about education as well. She is a trainer for the pharmaceutical companies Allergan, which sell Botox® and Juvéderm products, and Galderma, which sell Dysport® and Restylane® products. In 2003 she was the recipient of the Greater Kansas City Rookie Nurse of the Year award and in 2008 was honored as the Outstanding Alumni from the Newman Division of Nursing at Emporia State University. She performs aesthetic dermatology skin care treatments that improve cosmetic appearance and skin health.
