Const. Brian Montague said in an email that police haven't yet determined a motive for the slaying.

"There are theories being developed, but (it) would be inappropriate for me to discuss those at this time," Montague said.

The incident was the second homicide in the area in two days, but police said there is nothing to suggest the two are connected.

Investigators continue to gather evidence after 15 year old Jason Nguyen was killed Sunday. after a family member found Nguyen seriously injured. The teenager was rushed to hospital but did not survive.

The death was initially considered suspicious, but later deemed homicide, and it did not appear to be random, police said.

In the investigation into Mokhtar's death, officers believe several witnesses were in nearby Falaise Park and fled when they heard gunshots.
