Calorie counter is Fashion Week

At Lincoln Center on Thursday, a crowd packed with celebs like Jessica Alba and Rashida Jones applauded designer Charlotte Ronson at the end of her spring 2014 presentation. Surrounded by her playfully clad models on the runway, Ronson looked effortlessly chic in a white cut out dress from the collection paired with black strappy platforms, colorful bracelets and a black rubbery wristband.

Yes, a black rubbery wristband.

"It works with anything I'm wearing. It's a great fashion piece as well as really incredibly useful," says Catherine McNear, 45, a chic blonde from Darien, Conn.,stainless steel cartier love bracelet, who works for Este Lauder.

"I get compliments on it all of the time people are always asking me what it is," she adds.

The FuelBand kickstarted the fitness bracelet craze when it was introduced early last year. The bands, priced up to $150,cartier eternity bracelet, offer a high tech way to track your vital fitness stats and share them with your social network.

"It's pretty sleek considering how many functions it has," says Ronson of her Jawbone UP, which she recently wore with a Louis Vuitton dress to a wedding.

Still, she'd like to see them come in "different prints."

Brian St. Hilaire, 21, a salesclerk at the Rick Owens boutique, says he noticed several people wearing the FuelBand at a Fashion Week party at Milk Studios last week. The elegant design, he says, is a big draw. "I like the silhouette of it," says the Lower East Side resident.

In its September issue, Vogue noted the FuelBand's presence at Paris fashion week and prevalence on chic wrists like those belonging to New York It girl and Garage magazine creative director Shala Monroque, as well as German princess and Vogue style editor at large Elisabeth von Thurn und Taxis.

Good luck getting your hands on the hot new accessory, though.

"It's been one of our most popular products," says Jawbone's Keely Sulprizio. "It's just flying off the shelves."

Only three colors orange, onyx and mint are available at the moment.

Whichever fitness band they ultimately choose, fashionistas are opting to layer them with Chanel bangles or Cartier watches.

Malitza Aguila, how much are cartier love bracelets, 36, who works in retail operations at the New York headquarters of a major fashion house, says part of the FuelBand's appeal is its ability to mix well with more high fashion bracelets.

"It's not a chunky piece, it conforms to your wrist. It looks pretty sleek," says the West Village resident.

Last month, popular fashion blogger Blair Eadie noted on Instagram that she'd added a navy Jawbone UP to her "stack," which also features a Cartier watch and David Yurman bracelet. An Instagram snap of the look got more than 4,500 likes.

"The trend of piling on bracelets, it goes right in the mix," says Dani Stahl, style editor at large at Nylon magazine.

Then there's the social element.

"It's definitely part of my wardrobe when I go out to a club," says Aguila, a regular at Le Bain and the Jane hotel. As she and her friend dance into the night, they compare each other's "fuel points," Nike's metric for activity, to see who has the high count for the day.

"We're just fist pumping, and seeing where we're at before midnight."

Katy Schell, 29, started wearing an onyx Jawbone UP after her boyfriend bought her one at the end of last year. They both had them and competed to see who could get more steps in each day. The boyfriend is now an ex, but Schell remains faithful to her UP, which she typically pairs with Hermes enamel bracelets.

"I'm obsessed [with it]," says the West Village resident, cartier love bracelet sale, who works for a dining and nightlife startup. Marie Owen, 38, a location scout, and her fashion photographer husband, John, 47, sported matching Jawbones at Fashion Week.
